I'm not one to leave reviews ever. Usually I don't get good luck with dealers, but I can't let this one pass as it truly upset with in the end and got to me for some time. I originally came in for diagnose on my car to fix my heater and my intention and what I asked for was for my heater to be fixed. They ended up diagnosing and told me I had another problem in my car. That wasn't an issue if that was the case, but what really was unprofessional is that I went back to get what was "needed" fixed but they let my car leave the shop with my heater still not working. They clearly did not check their work and make sure that it was fixed. There was no communication from Xavier that they couldn't get the issue about the heater so I just had to get my car back with it not working and felt so confused. I felt gaslit too because he was saying from the first time they diagnosed it and I got it back it was working " I said no it definitely wasn't which is why I came back because I really needed it done. It's freezing here and I had just moved to the city and spent so much on this service Reached back out to Xavier to tell him it didn't work, he said bring it in and we'll see", well they flushed my system and that didn't seem to do anything . I Told him when can I come back to actually get it fixed and he said he would let me know and never heard back. Idk It made me not trust their service or consideration about this happening . When I had brought it back to the shift of how it felt was sooo different vs when I went in. Felt like no care what so ever. If I could give AutoHaus a million stars, I would. I found myself stuck in the middle of an alley with all my windows down with an impending thunderstorm on its way. My auto insurance ordered me a tow to AuthoHaus because it was the closest to my location. The tow was taking too long, so I called AutoHaus to tell them I would be too late to make it that evening (they closed at 6 and it was getting close). Anthony drove all the way out to me, called a personal tow friend of his, and they had me out of the alley and under shelter in his garage within 30 minutes. (I had already been waiting three hours for the tow my insurance was going to provide, and I would have had to store my car overnight at the towing facility) Anthony went above and beyond for me, stayed open late so my car could arrive to him safely and avoid an overnight storage fee. Not only that, within a few hours the next morning he called in a specialist to fix my unique issue (another friend of his, he's been in the business a long time) and had my car ready to go by my lunch break. The tow, parts, and labor cost me a fraction of what I thought it would be. Anthony really saved me not only money, but so much stress and anxiety I felt by being stranded. This company really cares about the individual and I will be taking my car here for everything in the future. The best experience I've had at an auto company period. I am one of the last people to write a review for anything, but after my experience with Gary and the crew at AutoHaus, it's the right thing to do. I took my 2004 Chevy Impala in there for several issues that lingered on for a long time. Suspension, brakes, check engine light, etc and thought it wouldn't be worth it to fix the car, but I was wrong. He corrected the wrong rotors and breaks that were installed by my previous mechanic and discovered the real issue with suspension. Gary went far and above expectations with the repairs and with the cost. The Impala has nearly 200,000 miles and it drives like a new car :)) After the Impala, I brought in my friends 2013 Honda Civic EX which was diagnosed with a blown cabin fuse box. No radio, no navigation system, no auto door locks, no odometer and ect.. I was told by my previous mechanic the needs a brand new cabin fuse box and a few additional fuse compartments, which in parts alone, would have cost nearly $2000 not including the technician to install and program to the computer. Gary got in the with his technician expert and a couple days later for a fraction of the cost, the car is up and running with everything functioning (without the unnecessary new cabin fuse box). As someone who barely knows how to change a light bulb, car maintenance is anxiety-inducing. I needed to change my spark plugs and oil, not something I'll ever be able to achieve in my lifetime. Enter: Gary and AutoHaus! Reading some of the positive reviews on yelp made me decide to give them a try and I couldn't be more grateful. Just a couple of points: 1. Responsiveness - I reached out to 4 different auto shops in my area, but Gary was the most responsive, knowledgeable, and friendly. 2. Appointment availability - My dealership is now requiring appointments booked at least 30 days in advance (crazy!!!!), but Transtastic was able to fit me in the next day. 3. Knowledgeable - I don't know much about cars, but I can tell they are an honest shop that doesn't take advantage of their customers. They didn't try to upsell me anything, actually the opposite with Gary recommending just doing the oil change since the spark plugs had another 5k-10k miles left in them. 4. Cost - Out of the 4 shops I contacted, AutoHaus was the 2nd most-affordable. But more importantly: They were the MOST transparent in their pricing so I knew what I was going to pay before the work started. Finding AutoHaus has been a game changer. Going to Autohaus was one of the best decisions I have made! I went there for a routine oil change and came back with what feels like a new car. I told Gary off-hand about my brakes feeling spongy and pressing down too much, and he confidently knew the issue right away and even fixed it for free!!! What a guy. He and his team really made my day. Gary is personable, funny, knowledgeable, and above all he is HONEST. He also checked out a supposed radiator leak that a different car shop diagnosed the car with, and Gary found that the radiator was in good shape. This confirmed some suspicions that I had about that previous car shop. It's so reassuring to know that Gary isn't trying to scam his customers! Also, we are new to town and wanted to kill some time while they serviced my car and Gary had amazing recommendations for stuff to do nearby so that was an added bonus. That area turned out to be such a cool part of Chicago and we got us a haircut and got some shopping done, so the location is definitely a plus. But Autohaus won't have you waiting long either way. They're prompt and communicative. Now I know who I will be going to for all my future car issues. Gary, his staff, and Autohaus is the best and I could not recommend them more!!! read more

First, I would like to specify that the customer service was outstanding. I was treated very kindly. I only had an issue with one request. I had called for an appointment (treated very nicely) and set up a time for repair. I requested an oil change in addition to the work and I was told that would be fine. When I dropped my car off (great customer service as well), I confirmed the oil change would be done as well. I received a call stating what the diagnosis was on the car, I authorized the work and again, asked about the oil change. I picked up the car two days later, only to find out that the oil was not changed. Of course, the manager, graciously said that I could leave it there and they would do it or I could bring it back. Both of those choices were not doable. I had gone without a car for two days and rearranged my work week to accommodate that and couldn't wait. I choose to go to Autohaus for good reasons, local, close and friendly service, along with being able to get everything all done at once. What concerns me is that I had asked a total of 3 separate times for the oil change and it didn't happen. Perhaps, moving forward, specific notes could be made to confirm everything. read more

Was recommended to Autohaus by Transtastic when they shut down and we've been very pleased with the transparency and fairness of this shop! Gary and Rusty are great to deal with and truly care about people and mechanic work. This cannot be understated, they don't just do this to make a living, it is their life. Recently I called to see if I needed to schedule a time to have our minivan door looked at. The gentleman on the phone said to bring it by anytime and so I did a few days later, unannounced. Upon arriving, the employee manning the desk indicated they were very busy and would need to have me either bring the van back another time or leave it and they would see it in 60-90 min. Obviously this was upsetting as I drove 25min to the shop and took off the afternoon from work. I asked to speak to Gary or Rusty and upon hearing my situation, Gary said the van would be looked at immediately. The issue was fixed quickly and we were off within 15min. As long as I live in CHI, this shop will get my work. They continue to be true to their word and helpful for the many folks that are not gearheads. Took my van in for an AC Recharge. When I called them, originally, I asked if they did the pressure test to ensure that there were no concerning leaks before they refilled the AC. They assured me that they did do this and it would take anywhere from 1-1 1/2 hours to do. After waiting for an hour, when it came time to pay, I asked why the bill was so much less (they didn't charge for the pressure test). They stated that they didn't feel I needed one as they didn't see anything concerning. The system filled fine and it all looked good. I figured, ok...they know what they're doing. 2 days later, the AC blows hot air, again and I called back asking HOW they could have missed such a substantial leak and chose not to pressure test the system. They simply encouraged me to bring my van BACK in for a pressure test and quote on repair. Obviously, this is not going to happen. I will take my van elsewhere that does what they say they are going to do and doesn't give BS responses. This was my first time at this place and it will be my last. Do not make the same mistake I did and just avoid this place altogether. read more

So for starters, I'm a first time car owner, out of state, in a brand new city. Totally unaware of who or where to go. If you want to talk about anxiety? Look no further than when a -20° F arctic blast freezes your only method of getting back home, totally solid, and in place on the side of a street. Dead battery, and seized brake rotors. Car needed to be towed, ASAP or face city fines. I knew it needed to be handled by people familiar with volkswagen parts and maintenance, and one quick Google search led me here. Car was quoted, out, and ready in not only a single day, but god damn near one phone call. Quick, honest, fair, and prompt work done by experts. Family owned and operated too? It literally doesn't get any better. These guys know exactly what they're doing, and aren't looking to gut your pockets in the process. Could not have been more satisfied with the entire process. If you are in the North Center or surrounding area and are in need of an auto-shop, look no further than AutoHaus. Since moving to Chicago, I have not brought my car needs to anybody else. Whenever I need something done for my car, I can call them and drop my car off same-day. For example, last year I needed to make a cross-country Summer road trip. Unfortunately, I learned my AC wasn't working properly only three days before leaving. Not only did AutoHaus get my car into their shop that same day, they ordered the required AC piece and fixed my car within the next day. The gentlemen at AutoHaus bend over backwards and go above and beyond for their customers. They are knowledgeable, considerate, and incredibly generous. No matter what has been done to my car, these men have taken the time to professionally explain their work and how it impacts my vehicle. I took my truck in for an oil change & they asked if I wanted a full analysis on what was going on with my truck. I said yes because my truck was loud and I knew it needed work. I was given everything that was wrong & took it back a few days later to get the repairs that were needed. My truck runs & sounds so much better. It isn't loud anymore & my steering is back to normal. Gary and the crew were AWESOME. The repairs were done & it the price wasn't what I expected. I expected to be out of much more than I was charged. The gentlemen (Gary & Anthony) were a pleasure to talk to. They were very personable & polite. Gary walked me through what was needed & why. My car unexpectedly wouldn't start this week, and I wasn't able to jump the battery myself so I was concerned that something was very wrong. I'm new to this area and didn't have an established maintenance provider, so I checked the reviews of nearby locations and brought my car to Autohaus since a lot of people had positive experiences. I'm pleased to say I had a good experience as well! They were able to check out my car very quickly and get back to me with a diagnosis, and were able to fix it quickly. I appreciated their clear and fair pricing, and they were very communicative at all stages of the repair and always answered the phone when I contacted them. After the repair, they made sure to give me extra information on future services that I might need soon as well, which I appreciated. About a year ago, I moved into the city. In the past I've always gone to my dealership for oil changes and other regular maintenance. Rather than travel across town, I wanted to find a local place to service my car. I found AutoHaus online and was extremely pleased with the service. I was able to call and get an appointment with Anthony right away for that coming Saturday. I have to say, it was such a refreshing change of pace from the overwhelming dealer that doesn't ever get to know their customers. Anthony was cracking jokes the whole time I was there and was very down to earth. Not long ago I stupidly backed into a pole and cracked my taillight cover - he even offered to help price out a replacement. There are a lot of restaurants/cafes in that area so it's easy to drop the car off and grab a bite. This is the worst mechanic experience I have ever had. The communication is absolute trash. Everything was diagnosed completely incorrectly. I paid near 2k for near nothing. Do not trust the positive reviews this shop has. I notice a few reviews have the same complaints as me. They claimed my car was running jerky due to control arm and bushings. It was my transmission valve (thank you Berman Subaru). They told me my ac wasn't running due to my compressor. It was actually just a leak in the line. They don't know who you are when you call. And you do have to call because otherwise they never call you. Three days in a row Anthony says oh it'll be done today I'll call you in a bit. No call. Then same story next day. No call. And then again! It was wild. Not to mention someone, maybe them, completely destroyed two of my lug nuts. My car was returned to me full missing one and the other cross threaded to all hell. read more

I've been bringing my car here for oil changes and have had great service. I needed a new set of tires and after failed attempts to reach Costco for an estimate, I decided to ask Autohaus for an estimate when getting my most recent oil change. The estimate was very reasonable! While getting the tires installed they informed me of the condition of my breaks. I know what you're thinking, I'm a sucker. However, they provided pics of the breaks and they did need replaced badly. And frankly, our breaks were in bad shape when we bought our car (used 2017 model in 2019). Had to it back to the dealership and all they did was hook our rotors up to some machine to shave them smooth again. So, shame on the dealership for selling us a car with faulty rotors to begin with. Autohaus was able to get my brakes done the same day and this was already mid-afternoon mind you. Will continue use them for all my auto needs! read more

This was my first time finding a garage to work on my prius outside of the Toyota dealership. As a women I was concern on finding a fair place because I honestly don't know much about cars. I saw AutoHaus had great reviews and went forth and trying them out. I got my break pads replaced before and was told that my structs needed replacing. Gary was really transparent in letting me know this. He told me that they would even take a picture for me to get it done at a different location if I choose. Overall exemplary customer service and catering to the human person and not pockets. Sure it's still a business, but a business that still has a heart of the people. As a woman, I always get nervous about going to auto repair shops alone with fear that they may try to get over on me because of my unfamiliarity (It has happened a few times before). Nothing even close happened here, Anthony and the team were very prompt. No wait, I was serviced as soon as I drove up. They informed me of all that was wrong and all that I needed to do to fix it. They didn't try and get extra money out of me, they literally came from contribution and wanted to help me.
