I reserved a U-Haul with Ogden Automotive Center weeks in advance of my move. When reserving, they let me know that the store would be closed on Saturday but that I could do a fully online truck pickup process. That was fine with me. When I got there, the U-Haul was in the parking lot and Ogden Automotive Center was closed (as expected). However, when I opened the app, it let me know that Ogden Automotive Center had not left any instructions at all on how to pick up the keys to the truck. After contacting U-Haul customer support, they let me know that there was nothing they could do to get me a truck from this location. It was an expensive, hours long process to find a new truck for my move that day. Would not recommend this store to anyone read more

Very good place - they're careful not to do stuff that really doesn't need doing but do the necessary stuff the way it should be done. Had brake pads & rotors all around, transmission flush + general tweaks & inspections. Communication can be erratic but I think that's just the way things are at a busy shop read more

As owner, Paul Oushana. DOES NOT understand that great customer service is just as important as the top quality services that the automotive shop provides. As a customer of Ogden Automotive Center I really felt disrespected and not valued AT ALL. My car was tolled to the shop to fix the starter. My shifter was a bit broken but I could still push the button to shift gears. They called me to say there was a bit of a problem with my shifter which I knew. They never gave me any details and said they would fix it. I rented a car for a week and never heard back by the end of the week about my car. I HAD to call and ask. Mr. Oushana said I could pick up my car, but when I went there on a Saturday the starter was fixed, but my shifter was completely broken to a point that I wasn't able to drive the car. I went back to get my car, but found another problem. Simply a horrendous experience plus HORRIBLE communication with customers. I had no idea what was going on with my car. I asked to talk to Mr. Oushana who did not help me at all as a client by saying, "What? I'm not gonna pay for something that is broken?" and "Today is Saturday, there's nothing I can do". Who does that? What kind of business owner talks to customers like that? So disrespectful especially after I had dropped 510 dollars to fix my starter in his shop. This is someone who does not care at all about his clients, doesn't communicate what is going on with your car, and blames others for things that happen on his business. He even suggested I was lying about my shifter and that maybe de "toll truck guy did it" What a joke. NEVER AGAIN! I was looking for a mechanic to help me install a new windshield fluid tank, and my father-in-law told me about this place. I was skeptical at first, but they were fantastic! The only reasons they're getting two stars is because they were nice. They are terrible at following up. I asked multiple times for a callback and never got one. Furthermore,I was told my car was unusable and needed 14 hours worth of manpower and about 3/4 grand worth of repairs. They told me it would make more sense to sell it and repair it. I took it somewhere else and they fixed it for 2 grand and the car works perfectly now. These people have no idea what they're doing. read more

From the very first time I visited Ogden Automotive, I knew that I was at a place I can trust. I brought the car in for 1 thing, but did ask for them to check out a few other things. There will be a time that they do recommend additional work, but it hasn't happened yet. The price I'm given as an estimate has always been what I am charged. I am always hesitant when bringing my car to a new place because you bring it for 1 thing and then you're given a diagnosis that 5 other things are wrong with the car and what should have been a few hundred dollars becomes a lot more than that. And, when I have gotten a second opinion, I was told my car certainly didn't need all the extras. Now that I have Ogden as my go to place, I no longer need to get second opinions. In addition to being a place you can trust, they are extremely nice. I live about a mile away from the shop and rather than have me walk or take an uber, they drive me home and pick me up once the car is ready. It's been way too long since I had my little Foci serviced, so I came to Yelp to find a place. Thank you, Yelp, for once again delivering the goods. While there was nothing wrong with my car per se, it needed an oil change, new wipers and hadn't been checked out since I drove it from Seattle to Chicago a year ago. It had felt kinda funky lately driving, or at least I convinced myself that it was feeling funky. So I called Andy at Ogden, and he told me to bring it by the next morning. I dropped it off, waiting for that dreaded phone call that tons needed to be done. Came in that evening after work to pick it up--he checked it over and said everything was in great shape, just needed oil and new wipers. For $40. I like it. Labor cost was virtually nonexistent. Lo and behold, a day after leaving the shop, my front headlamp decided to die on me. Dammit little Foci! Since my dad is too far away now to change it for me (yup, I was totally that girl back in the Northwest), I watched some youtube videos about changing it myself. I then decided to save myself the hassle of finding the part and attempting to change it in my tiny garage space and take it back over to Andy. He told me to bring it in immediately, and changed it out within 45 minutes. I have no idea how his prices compare to other big chains--I know I could probably get an oil change for a few bucks cheaper at Midas or Jiffy Lube or through a Groupon. But then I would also get hassled about the 10 billion other services my car needed. None of that BS here. These are quality, stand-up guys, and I'm happy to support them. My poor neglected '98 Honda Civic. How, I've mistreated you. Years of under servicing, random oil changes, infrequent trips to the car wash...yet you've stood by my side from the very first day. It's not that I don't love you. I've got bills and get paid in scraps and driving is great and convenient but maintenance, I'm not so good at. So when my car is sick, I know it's serious. Taking my car to the repair shop is probably an emotional equivalent of going to the dentist. Oh gosh, it's going to be miserable. Unless you are lucky enough to know about Ogden automotive. The service department (Andy and Paul) are so friendly, that I just want to crack open a beer with them. They have been up front, prompt and accommodating with my repair needs. The last time I brought in my car it sounded like a pack of dying and wheezing pugs. I thought I would have to sell a kidney to foot the bill. They're like the guy that says he'll call but never does. So I guess shopping for a good car mechanic is kinda like dating? I digress... I'd just moved to the neighborhood and was searching for a permanent car mechanic, and decided to take my car here given all the stellar reviews. When I brought it in, I made sure they have my phone number so they can call me after inspecting the problems I listed. Never heard from them so I called in the afternoon to find out. I was told their internet was down but they'd call back with pricing info. Nothing. So I went in at the end of the work day to pick up my car anyways, and the person at the cashier says he'll call me that evening with pricing, but will order the parts which should arrive after the weekend. I needed to get a quick oil change, day-of, and Ogden Automotive was a great solution. I called in the morning and was able to bring it in the same day, and only had to wait about an hour and a half. In the meantime, I went down the street to a great coffeehouse (Sip). Andy at Ogden was great! Gave me the basic oil change along with a quick fluids and tire pressure check, and didn't try to sell me anything else or convince me I needed any other repairs. My car is running well and happy today. Andy was very friendly with me as we talked about the shop and its history and growth, as well as my dad's shop back home. Well I was just delighted with my experience at Ogden Automotive. I just moved into the neighborhood and my car needed some serious post-winter help. I needed a bunch of stuff: new rear brakes, a starter, oxygen sensor...did I mention my CHECK ENGINE light was on for about 2 years?? Anyway, Andy fixed me up great (and fast). I thought I was going to be spending at least $2500 for all the stuff I had done, but he came in significantly below my estimate...thank goodness. After picking this company from about 30 others based on Yelp reviews, I came in early this morning without an appointment to see if they could inspect my 2006 Honda Accord, as I wan't to make sure everything was in good shape before I sold it. In spite of the reviews, I was super skeptical - I've rarely had a good experience at places like this (honesty being the main factor), I turned the keys over to Andy, who seemed like a good guy but I was still nervous. A couple of hours later he let me know that everything was okay and I didn't owe them a dime. I was shocked. I'll be coming back here (and referring my friends) in the future. I hate car issues. Everything something goes wrong, I threaten to sell it. Anyway, my car wouldn't start, so I called Ogden Automotive Center, and they sent out a tow-truck to pick it up and haul it away. The people the work here are SO nice and the turnaround is very quick. They ordered my fuel pump relay (?) and it came the next day, so I was without it for a couple days. So my first trip to Ogden Automotive was several months ago for an oil change. I had just bought the car, and I really appreciated them looking over it and finding all of the other little issues that the used car dealer failed to tell me about (like the air fitters had never been changed, and that the brakes were on their last legs) I brought my car back today for the breaks, and again they did a great job. I really appreciated that I could drop my car off before work and that they let me take care of the "paperwork" over the phone. I was then able to pick the car up after they closed with my spare keys. With my schedule, if it wasn't for their ability to work with me, I don't when I would every have had the time to get my car fixed. Fast, friendly, trustworthy, available, and a a great price. Ogden Automotive was recommended by a friend and it's not difficult to see why. My wife and I have had both our vehicles serviced there for over 2 years. Service has included oil changes, flushes, and engine/electronic diagnostics. There were a few times I had issues with my vehicle and Andy (the owner) would assist with troubleshooting over the phone. If we couldn't figure out the issue over the phone, he happily invited me to bring in my vehicle to check it. If diagnostics were easy and my vehicle did not need servicing, I was not charged a fee for diagnostics. At times, when service was recommended via the results of diagnostics, I received thorough information/explanations regarding the issue along with my options for proceeding with fixing the issue. I would say I know a moderate amount about cars and do light maintenance on my own vehicle at times. In a time when automotive service centers and technicians get a bad rap because of some bad apples, Ogden Automotive shines through with excellent technical and customer service - all coupled with competitive pricing. I have a Mazda CX-7 and the headlight recently went out. I normally take it to the dealer to get it changed, because I know they know what they're doing, even though they insanely overcharge for that knowledge. All the videos online show that you have to turn the tires and take out the rubber guard near the bumper to access the headlight and supposedly it's a real pain in the @$$...so I never did it myself. Didn't have time to find a dealer this time around, so I took a chance at Ogden Auto. I called ahead to make sure they weren't too busy, but they still took a guy who was doing some work on another car off that car to attend to my headlight immediately. The guy opens the hood and I mention something stupidly about how you have to go near the tire to access the headlight...I get totally ignored (which is usually what happens when I tell car mechanics anything anyways). But lo and behold 1 minute later, he has the old bulb out, and within 5 minutes the whole process is done. WTF?!?!? Seriously that's it?!?! Bottom line, don't trust everything you see on the internet, and more importantly, these guys at Ogden are pros. Reasonable pricing (way cheaper than the dealership), super fast, and very nice and polite service overall. I know they do a lot of other work, so next time I have any car trouble I am DEFINITELY coming back here. I could probably change the headlight myself though next time... read more

Nice people. Got me in quick for an oil change. Quoted $31. Great. Local business. Close. I love that. Car needed wiper blades and I asked if they had them. They did. I can change myself, but I'm there, why not. $20 buck a blade, installed. Ok. So I am at $71. Blades aren't that cheap at Napa, and installed. Fair. However that did not include labor costs. With tax, hazard $92 for basic oil change and wiper blades. They said is that ok and I said if that's what it costs that's what it costs. I never asked if that includes labor. Seemed totally decent and honest, gave me a quote for a massive amount of work that my car needed, which I ended up not having done since my car is a piece of trash, but only charged me 40 bucks for the diagnostic, and completely understood my situation. I've paid 70 or 80 bucks just for a mechanic to breathe in the direction of my car, nevertheless do a thorough evaluation and give me an extremely detailed report. Nice, casual, good location. Still fuming over an experience I had with this company over a year and a half ago. We did our research and chose this mechanic because they had experience working on German cars. We had an older (2001) Audi. There were 2 things we had done- 1. Oil Change 2. Replace blinkers The work took longer than expected but was happy to have my car back. I drove less than a mile down the road when my engine started making a noise. I immediately drove it back to OAC and they said they would take a look. I was informed that they "thought" they put the wrong size filter after the oil change and now the problem had been fixed (as they now put on a new filter). I drive off with my car, only to have the same noise happen less than a mile down the road. I called when I got home, as they were closing when I picked my car up the second time, and they told me to bring it in the next day and they would diagnose the problem. Fast forward, they informed me that my oil pump would need to be replaced. Also alleged that this was in absolutely no way related to the oil change that I had just received. My car was not drivable so they quoted me way more than any other mechanic to have it repaired. I spoke with the owner several times to see if they would take any responsibility for the oil pump-none. What started off as a simple oil change, turned into $1400 in repairs. Oh, did I mention that after their "repair" to my blinkers, which was wired through the steering wheel, the horn never worked again, and a weird clicking sound occurred every time we turned the wheel. I also addressed this with them, stating I wanted a refund for the work, they refused, offered to fix the horn, but I honestly wanted them nowhere near my car after such a horrible experience. Long story short, they barely noticed when I walked in, tried to sell me a battery for $25 over the list price and gave me an estimate $600 over Won's. They weren't able to find the problem and put a lot of expensive parts on my car that it didn't need. Never again. Go to Won's Auto instead. Nightmare. read more

I finally found my go to place for car repairs. Not only was their quote reasonable and the job done impeccably, they drove me home and picked me up since I live in the West Loop. I found out afterwards that they also do body work. They were friendly and honest as well. My dealer wrote out a quote of several things that needed to be done which I brought to Ogden. After test driving my car, they told me that several things on the list were not necessary. They definitely scored points with me for that. I highly recommend them. read more

They are SO nice here. It's a small shop, so I wasn't as worried that they would try to rip me off. And I am not car expert, but from doing some research, I really think they gave me a reasonable deal. I've used them for several different car repairs, and they have always been really great.
