I took an OReilly house brand battery in for a check. It was bad and needed to be replaced. The…read morebattery sticker showed it was purchased in Jan 2024- so still under warranty. I explained that I had recently purchased the truck and the salesperson told me if I could find the receipt or provide the previous owner's phone number the battery would be replaced at no charge. Excited at the prospect of saving a couple of hundred dollars, I returned home and spent 20 minutes or so searching for the receipt and taking pics of the original owner's phone number. I couldn't find the receipt but, armed with a phone number and email from the previous owner I returned to the store. A different sales person then informed me that the warranty wasn't transferrable and I was out of luck. The original sales person was still working the counter and I asked why that person said I could provide a receipt or phone number to get a free replacement. "I don't know, warranties aren't transferable". I honestly expected to pay for a new battery anyway, but the mixed messages cost me a bit of time and frustration- I have other things I need to do. I would have just bought a battery in the first place had I known... piss poor experience and piss poor customer service.

No one's moving as if they're really that busy back there. They just rather be in the back than helping a customer in the front. Another customer that was waiting said he had the same experience other times and that this is his last time to the store. I'm done as well.

I was employed as a professional AUTO MACHANIC much of my life so I think I'm qualified to make this review. The Palm Ave store has some serious issues with customer service especially but not limited to the check out girls . I understand there is a labor shortage but how hard is it to find an employee that's not off the charts rude . When you say thank you , is it too much to look ar the customer and say it with some sense of sincerity ?. Thats all I'm going to say about that department because I'm not the only one who's feeling this way. The parts counter , there was a day when Bart hired at least one ASE parts person , people who you could ask a question and get an qualified answer. Tonight I dealt with 2 parts people who happened to be female who clearly lacked education in this field . I am not attacking thier gender I only say this to identify the employees in question. Gender should never be a factor in one's job performance or title . My point here is to say that I've been a customer longer then some of these employees have alive and sucks to see one of my favorite auto parts stores go downhill . But on a positive note I do love the collection of vintage go carts and mini bikes on display ! In closing please bring back the Riebes Auto Parts I've known and trusted since I was 16 !.

I saw it on Amazon, but I try to buy local instead of through Amazon when I can, and on the product website it said that it was also sold at Napa stores, so I called this store, the Napa Auto Parts store on Palm Avenue in Auburn. It was a Sunday, which may have factored in to what happened. The gentleman on the phone said that he didn't have it and that no other nearby store did either, so I either asked him if he could order it (or he offered, I forget which), and said that it "should" be in the next day (Monday) and that he would call me when it arrived. I offered to pay with a credit card but he said they don't take credit cards over the phone and that I could pay when I picked it up. It's $100 a bottle, which may also have factored into what happened. They didn't call on Monday, so today (Tuesday) I went in to see if it had showed up. I asked the fellow behind the counter (who wasn't the person who took the phone order) if it had come in, and he said that it wasn't available but that he could order it. It took several back and forth exchanges to establish that it was never ordered, but that he could order it. It went something like this: Me: "I had someone here special-order an item two days ago, I'd like to see if it's here. It's a bottle of Steel Seal, it's used for...(explanation)" Him: "We don't have any in stock, and none of the stores around here do either, but I can order it and have it here today." Me: "I already ordered it, it was supposed to get here yesterday, can you see if it's here? Like in the back or something?" Him: "We don't stock that item, but I can order it" Me: "I already ordered it, it was supposed to be here yesterday" Him: "I just checked stock, we don't have it, do you want me to order it?" He seemed a little annoyed and didn't seem to care that this had happened and didn't offer an apology or an explanation, although he didn't really owe me any of that. But if I was working there I would have said "listen, I'm really sorry, there was a mix up and the item wasn't ordered, but we can order it today and have it (whenever) if that works." But to be fair, who am I to judge? If I knew anything about working in an auto parts store, I'd be behind the counter myself! So next time I need something I'll probably just order it on Amazon.
