They also do this video walk-through of your vehicle where they show you everything that is going well with your car and also what needs to be worked on and then they send you a diagnostic report of everything so that everything is documented. Great job! Marc, Bobby and the crew did a great job in fixing a lot on my truck. I brought it in for an oil leak, turns out the Timing Chain Cover was leaking. Massive teardown ensues and they get it back to purring like a kitten. Wishing a week I noticed a "ticking" and discovered I had an injector failure. Update on my disc brake conversion. I took my car to a different shop because the brakes were failing. The new shop had to change the master cylinder from a single to dual reservoir. Add a proportioning valve. This should have been done by Rocklin Automotive. My rear bearing were leaking and had leaked fluid on the rear brake shoes to the point of total saturation. They were not working. I know that that wasn't Rocklin Automotives fault, but they should have caught that. The car has always pulled to the right on braking. The proportioning valve and moreover the rear brakes caused that. Totally should have caught that when the car test drove with the pull. Rocklin Automotive needs to stick to new model cars as thats their main operation. And leave hot rod work to people who work on hot rods as their primary focus. read more

I went in for a diagnostic and had to pay $239 for absolutely no information! They said they could not conclude without a further diagnostic, which would have cost me more money. They would not give me my car back unless I paid the $239 which like I said, said nothing conclusive about what was wrong with my car. I inquired at two other reputable automotive shops that work on German cars and they both said they're diagnostics were under $200. And that would have given me a conclusive outcome on what the problem was this business. Rocklin Automotive is terrible. Mark is a used car sales man. He's a smoother talker but is bending everyone over. They charged me a 900% mark up on parts. Every time I got my vehicle back there was a new issue. $3500 for AC repair. Upon pick up my headlights didn't work. 2 days of returning to the place and they got them partially working. His excuse, and I quote "it's this Ching Chong China parts you have on your head lights" referring to some after market HID lights that were installed. When I got home and opened the hood I noticed none of the weather stripping seals were put back on and they were just slammed under the hood. The HID ballasts we're not re-secured to the truck and we're just hanging down. Mark should be locked up for all the money he is stealing from the community. Super nice guys at Rocklin Automotive! Went to that location because I thought the chain store I bought my tires from was there but found them instead. Needed some air in my tires and noticed the caps were missing off of 3 tires. I didn't ask, but the guy helping me (sorry didn't get names) asked the boss guy if they had any caps. Boss guy said yes and now I have caps again. Which was probably the reason I needed air in the first place. These dudes are great and stand by their work. I brought my SUV in to get the breaks done while I enjoyed a beer and some baseball at The BeachHut Deli next door. They were super busy but were able to squeeze me in and get it done by the time they quoted me. I got it home, and drove it around for a little bit but there was some break chatter. I brought it back and it turned out there was a slight mistake made when they machined the rotors. They promptly fixed it at no extra cost to me. Price gouging here. I was given an estimate of $1650 for work that the GM dealership quoted at 955. Eventually had it done for 580 at another reputable mechanic. That is one third!. Key difference was number of hours of labor assessed ....7 hrs vs dealer at 3 hrs vs the other mechanic at 1.5 hr. Their neighbor Five star Auto were worse with an even higher quote. read more

I'm called back and asked if they can fix it since it is not normal for a car to go out of alignment in 2 weeks and they denied it and refused to give my money back. Had my uncle who is a retired mechanic take my corolla in. They charged for a diagnostic even though we knew it was the O2 sensor and showed them the codes. We paid the diagnostic and the guy quoted me $1800!!! He then advised me that my car would never pass smog. For $75 I fixed my corolla with my uncle and passed smog. These guys seems nice at first, but are true SCAM artists. I would definitely STAY AWAY and get a second opinion before paying them any money. My wife brought her 2009 Toyota Corolla on July 9th,2022 for a broken A/C. One star is ridiculously high for these price gouging crooks. Let me ask any of you this: "What honest mechanic shop asks for a $1,400 deposit upfront before finishing any of its work?" These shady characters were reluctant to offer estimates when we asked. Using the supply chain issues as an excuse they kept my wife' s Toyota Corolla for almost two weeks. They narrowed it down to the computer module of her car needing replacement. They ordered the part on Day 11 of this saga and then "realized" they ordered the wrong part. They then informed my wife they will need more time and $1,500 more money on July 20th and she would not have her car until August 5th!! So on Day 12 having taken the advice of a family member who owns their own shop in South Sacramento we told Rocklin Automotive to put her Corolla back together and to give us an itemized list of all work done so our family member could then have a roadmap of what was done so they could competently do what Rocklin Automotive failed to do. I do not doubt because they saw my wife they thought it was safe to price gouge on the basis of her being a woman. So when I showed up on July 21st at 5pm in the afternoon for my wife's Corolla having spoken at least five times over the previous 12 days on the phone with them, and having showed up with my wife to deliver the car in the first place. I returned to Rocklin Automotive on July 21st to retrieve our car and money that was being held hostage by these crooks. The technician there Mark is his name was irate, condescending and after slamming the car keys down on the counter demanded $300 more, mind you after their failure to fix the problem and a minimum of two more weeks wait for them to fix the problem. I replied they had a $1,400 deposit from us and they would not be receiving more. So after giving the keys back to me and demanding we pay $300 for a problem not fixed. I asked what is required under California Law. That is an itemized estimate of what works has been done, which he did not want to give to me when I asked after he gave me back the Corolla keys. He wanted to refuse me the itemized estimate until I paid him his $300. Effectively holding my wife's request and California rights hostage for money. He relented and slammed the itemized estimate of what was done on the counter and said: " Good luck to any others who start from what I finished." As I was leaving the shop with what was rightfully ours namely the Corolla keys and itemized estimate. He said:" I do not even know who you are?! I said I was the customer's husband. Mark said: "Well bye customer's husband!" I find that curious you would hand the keys to a car to a complete stranger if you were unsure of who they were. Either you are lying and know who I'am or your a moronic d-bag who should be in another job(maybe the other side of auto mechanics, you know the crash dummy side) When my wife drove off the parking lot of Rocklin Automotive she found the brake lights out, the turn signal lights out and the radio out. I had an idler pulley break while driving on I-80. I called a dozen shops to see if someone could take me on a Saturday, but nobody was helpful until I happened to see Rocklin Automotive. They said they could try to get it done that very afternoon. I dropped off the car immediately and they got the whole job done in 1 hour. I barely finished breakfast next door and it was ready. **I suspect serious overcharging for labor , parts and negligence is going on here** My girlfriend went in to get her AC checked and paid the $120 dollars for the diagnostic and specifically stated not to begin working on it. Diagnosis recommended replacing the entire AC pulley and bracket. About $500 out the door. After she refused to shell out the cash, later that day parts started falling off the car, which turned out to be the pulley and bracket (separated but still in perfect condition, unbent) After calling the manager Mark asking if they had been working on it, a defensive tone was developing over the phone. After I suggested there may have been negligence involved, a barrage of distasteful curse words were spewed from their end. Highly unprofessional from a "reputable" service center. Finally, after getting a refund, I inspected the tensioner myself. I picked a pulley up for 12 dollars and installed it on the OE bracket. half an hour later the ac was blowing ice cold. I usually do my own work on my vehicles but there are times when you need a professional and in my opinion there are no other places as professional, knowledgeable and as helpful as Marc and his crew at Rocklin Automotive. I've been dealing with ac issues and tried to fix it myself and just couldn't get it done. I have tried to go to other places but I always get the run around or turned away as they are to busy. I can say that I will ever need to nor will I ever shop around again as there is no one around that is as reliable, knowledgeable, friendly and honest as Marc and his guys. They not only got me in before the 110 degree heat wave, he got it diagnosed, fixed and was up front with me with everything they needed to do. I went into Rocklin Auto to get a 2nd opinion on a used vehicle I just purchased. I gave them the inspection report from another shop and asked if they through they could check it and maybe inspect the vehicle themselves. The young guy that was helping me at the counter seemed nice but the head mechanic was disgusting. The inspection was from Five Start Auto/Car wash so he said you can't trust anything from them. "Jose Rodriguez was mowing lawns last week and now he's inspecting vehicles!" It was a completely made up name and incredibly racist. Even the guy that was helping me just froze but that is his boss. They specialize in tires, nothing else. My brother took his Mazda here as he was having starter problems. They informed him he needed a new starter and to return in 2 days for repair. It took them all day to repair his car and when he got there the starter still had problems. They then told him they thought it was a recall item and gave him a print out of what they found online. They informed him the starter still neeed to be repaired though and handed him a bill for $400. They specialize in tires, nothing else. read more

Mark, Thanks for the reply. I looked at the NBC link and it sent me to a page that no longer exists. Looking at the BAR newsletter from 2010 I did see a Sacramento area chain being punished, but I failed to see AAMCO, Pep Boys or AutoZone penalized for anything. If you have any specific information on these companies, you should have posted it instead of showing me a newsletter that shows smog service providers being written up. As a side note it is unclear to me how AutoZone could be penalized because all they do is loan you the device so you can read the code. Which is what I was asking for, nothing more. I should have been more clear in my first post. What I was looking for was a reading of the code so I could tell what caused it. We both know that the code can be cleared and it will take 15-20 miles of operation for the drive monitors to be completely resynced allowing for a legit smog check. What I asked the counter clerk was "How much to read the check engine code?" My request was not for you to perform an elaborate complete system check, it was to read the code. This procedure takes less than a minute, two at the most, and will assist in discovering what triggered the error which is pretty easy for a person who has a familiarity with the sensors of an engine. It takes no time and fosters a feeling of going above and beyond as it relates to customer service. Something exactly the opposite of the feeling I got by your counter clerks answer. "That is $185, sir" And in fairness, it can't be considered bait and switch. It says right up front "you are about to get the telephone pole treatment" and it allows me to turn around and walk out. Which is what I did. Had he kept his clever comedy routine practice to himself by not delivering his "you get what you pay for" quip and instead keeping his smart mouth shut, I would never had given it a second thought.
