I bought a car the first day I was there. The finance person was beyond incompetent. My 8K deposit was declined on my debit card because the amount exceeded the daily limit allowed. I told Kim Haynes (the finance person) that I was going to call my bank right then to authorize the transaction. During my time on the phone with my bank, she tried charging varying smaller amounts - all of which were declined - putting an 18K hold on my account for 2 days while I ran around to clear it up. My car was totaled 3 months after I purchased it. I called 7 days after the accident to cancel my $2500 service contract. It has now been more than 60 days and nothing has been done to refund my money. I have called a dozen times, and every time I am dumped into her email which is "full" and not able to receive new messages. What professional has an unavailable voicemail to leave a message on? I have spoken with managers to no avail. They are only interested if you are buying a car, and poorly at that. I bought a car to replace the one that was totaled - and deliberately did not go back there. Do not trust this dealership. read more

I found a car online I loved and the price was great, while getting accepted and purchasing the car seemed easy their communication is HORRIBLE. Salesman would text but not respond, the car was "detailed" but pieces inside were not in place like the plastic cover behind the rear view mirror was on the floor, someone else's flash drive was snapped off in the rear USB drive and also just left in place. The told me it was getting a thorough safety inspection that is why it took me a week to be able to get my car and turns out they do NOT give inspection stickers nor did I have even a full tank of gas out of courtesy as other dealers provide. I had to put pieces back together, fill the tank, get my own inspection sticker, all while not having the registration paperwork which I was told could take another 7 days before I hear from them again. I left feeling so anxious about this I half think my car will shit the bed on me. read more

They drove over an hour to this business and took the vehicle for a road test and paid me to look this Rav 4 over. My customer decided they were going to buy the vehicle when they returned to the dealer after the inspection. The dealer sold the vehicle while they were on a road test and paying out of pocket to have the vehicle looked at. I won't be sending another customer in their direction in the future. read more

Roberto was absolutely professional and helpful, not pushy at all, through the entire discussion, including trade-in, purchase, registration and delivery of the vehicle (which, before they would let me drive away with it, was detailed and fully serviced with oil, filter and all new brake pads). Roberto's boss Luiz ultimately gave me an excellent deal on the car and great value for my trade-in (2006 Jeep Wrangler). Claycerson sold me a lemon. I test drive a vehicle that drove great. There was a small broken part in the cup holder, I ignored it. The cupholder isn't a make or break thing for me. I came in YESTERDAY to hand in my trade in. Immediately upon hitting the highway I felt something was off. I called Clayverson immediately and told him the car is driving strangely. And when I brought it up to him he brushed me off and told me set up an appointment with their service department. I told him I'd rather go back (since I was so close to the Automax) he said no it's okay. I called back again five minutes after telling him I want to return so I can leave my newly purchased LEMON with them, and take my trade in until it's fixed. He told me he can't they already sent my car to auction. Now I'm stuck with no vehicle and now help. He has been a nightmare to deal with. The sales experience was satisfactory, a little pressured, but OK. However, after driving the truck for a couple weeks I had a list of repairs needed. I had a transmission leak, that they could not find, I had a safety camera that needed resetting that they could not fix, and worst of all I had 2 small parts for replacement. These were a license plate bracket and a lens cover on a tow mirror blinker. I was told they didn't have them, but ordered the part for delivery to my house. That was 6 weeks and 15 phone calls ago. When I call sales they say service will call back, and vice versa...for weeks. These folks are not honest about their intentions for repairs and will just give you the run around. They are a "no haggle" car dealer, so don't expect to work them down to a lower price. Their cars are "priced below blue book", but don't ask them to give you blue book for your trade... That's when it's all about the auction price... Yes, I bought a car, but only because I was desperate. My muffler was getting ready to go, I needed new tires, and the check engine light was constantly on. We test drove the car for 50 miles and liked it! We sat down to figure out payments. The salesman went to go get the manager to talk some numbers. News to us the manager came over to tell us it already sold. So wasting 5 hrs of our time and letting us drive someone else's car. We left. Would never purchase a car from this business. I bought a car from Automax, and the buying process was very positive. However, I was told by the salesperson that because there was a warning light on that stated: "Keyless Entry Warning" that any costs I incurred to have this fixed would be covered by Automax. I have since been ghosted completely. The salesperson will not get back to me after 2 emails, I wrote an email to the general "contact us" email, and I wrote to a person that I received a "Happy Birthday" message from from the dealership. So far NO ONE has kept this promise. I spent over $300, having to buy two keys for my car, as the one that was given to me was a cheap, non-Mazda version. Quite honestly, I would love to fight for this out of principle, but it's not worth my time trying to resolve it further. I guess what I can do is speak up about it. read more

After weeks of searching the web, driving, fending off pushy sales people, and deleting countless emails and voicemails from car dealerships we found our dream car in Marlborough, MA and we didn't even read reviews, honestly, we were exhausted! The fact that it was less than 20 miles from home did it for us. But what a find this was! From the first call to ensure the car was available to the point I sat behind of the wheel of our beautiful Honda CR-V the whole process was a bliss! Chris Trombley was superb, patient, and accommodating. I had an awful experience purchasing my car from AutoMax. They were very deceitful and difficult throughout the entire process. I met with Lance and a salesman Aleif, who told me they treat a payment from my bank (USAA) as cash, and they will immediately begin the process to obtain a license plate/registration ect. They did not, and it ultimately took me 8 full days before I was able to pick up my car. They gave me the run-around, saying they were waiting on the payment transfer, which I confirmed with my Bank had already occurred. Not one person called me back when I called to inquire and left several messages through the week. I finally, received a TEXT from the salesman saying he had tried to call me, which he never did. Ultimately, I had to get my Bank involved, and even then the female manager lied and said they had spoken to me. Again, I NEVER spoke with someone from the dealership. Not one of them would return my phone calls. When I finally did pick up my car, no one walked me outside. They handed me the keys and said "See it out front?" Go elsewhere. Mine was advertise with blue tooth ready, one of the reason I choose the car and appreared to have it but found out when trying to sink it didn't have and the vehicle doesn't even have the option of being added by the manufacture and would need to purchase off market. Also, DO NOT purchase extended warranty - they charge 2x the cost and you can most likely purchase same or better warranty directly from the car manufacturer even if it is used. This is May of 2020 when masks are required while in public due to the deadly Corona Virus pandemic. I had set up an appointment to look at a truck that they had. I entered the office which was fairly small with 13 people in there. There were 2 people wearing masks and I was one of them. Most of those in there were employees with only a few customers. A unmasked salesman come over to me and offered to shake my gloved hand which I refused. I had such a positive experience here and I feel both surprised and kind of sad for folks who posted and there experiences were vastly different from mine. Either way, in a nutshell: I was in a major car accident early on in June. I had a car that would make folks titter (a freaking 2007 beige PT Cruiser), but I was emotionally invested in this thing. My 7 year old daughter even named it beigey. In any event, the thing was hit and I was put in a Jeep Cherokee. I promptly fell in love. When you are used to driving the nerdmobile this is a huge upgrade. A month into driving this rental it dawned on me that I'd have to return it. Gulp. I went online and found this dealership, stayed up (days in a row) looking at their online inventory. I went in, daughter in tow, thinking I was looking for a Jeep. Drove a jeep in my price range. It wasn't what I had in mind. Here is where I started to fret. I had seriously no idea what else I wanted and was VERY dis-inclined to rely on a car-salesman to guide me... But the salesman (Chris) was really nice. Genuine. He was NOT pushy, not once. He was calm and just brought out a few cars. He had me drive a red Nissan Rogue, and I sorta liked it (my daughter loved it) and we left. No car in tow/hand. I was disappointed but figured, I had time. My car (PT Beigey) was coming up on being done at the body shop and I was on the fence about what I was going to do with her. I went to the other Automax in Framingham. It's a different beast, more aggressive, lots of cars (it's hard to get in and out of there). (Plus I think they either forgot to call me back, or just didn't figure I was as ready to buy, though they were nice enough over there). Ultimately, I realized the warmth I was getting from my spot in Marlboro and my guy Chris. I get my car back. It drives funny (read scary). I get pulled over (within ten minutes of getting it from the body shop) because my registration is out (was due the month I didn't have my car). I take it as a sign. Day 2, I drive (slowly and on back roads) back to Chris. An amazing new dark blue/pearl coat, fully outfitted rogue with such low miles was available. The car is seriously perfect. Seriously. Perfect. And in my price range. And Chris, calm spirited guy that he is, helped me buy it, accepted my trade, and I drove home in it that damn night. They are a satellite RMV in there too... "IF YOU READ REVIEWS PLEASE READ THIS ONE" August of 2018 I inquired about Chevy volt located at Auto Max I visited the location offering they're asking price on one condition I would like to have my trade in paid off in full. I currently owed 11k on the vehicle but Kelly Blue Book kbb.com indicated my trade in was of a much higher value than the 11k owed. KKB suggested my trade in Value would be $12,500.00 in good condition. I presented this info to Auto Max and the immediately responded with $7,500.00. After 30 minuets of back and forth they came back at me with $10,000.00 on my trade at the time I passed and left Auto Max that day returned home enjoyed my vehicle for another month and a half and paid and extra thousand towards my vehicle loan. I decided next time I was offered 10k I would take the offer. Shortly after lowering my loan to $10k I saw another Vehicle that suited my interest the dealership was in Massachusetts but I didn't notice the name until I arrived,,,, Dammit it was Auto Max. Oh well I really wanted the car they had for sale and now that my car loan met there offer from 1.5 months earlier I figured what the hell let's take a shot. Well same story crazy low ball offers. This time I mentioned Kelley blue book I said my car value trade-in is listed $11,500 in rough condition me and the buyer both agreed my car was in excellent condition. Why I asked? The salesman said nobody uses KBB any more everyone now a-days uses NADA.com National Auto Dealers Association backed by JDPower I decided to humor this guy so we went on NADA.com I let him plug in all the info on my Vehicle and long and behold what do yah know my car is valued at $12,500.00 on trade in. I asked him to pay off my vehicle an he decided to get the manager. The manager comes over and explains to me they have no intention on selling my vehicle it would be going straight to auction she then presents me this bogus piece of paper with random auction sale prices and explains to me they weren't gonna make any money off of my trade. I decided right then and there I was gonna waste there time I was just gonna sit there all day and haggle to jam up there potential sales. They now had wasted some serious time of mine I felt it was necessary to repay the favor in full. About 5 hours into this I was able to get there offer to $9,066.09 No Joke! I left without a hand shake and a smile on my face. You have to know when to hold and when to fold. On a complete side note the vehicle I was hoping to buy wasn't even what they listed it was a Base model vehicle listed as a premium package I had new leather interior seats but missing many premium options. Also they mentioned this vehicle was purchased by them on Auction it had two previous owners with only $38k miles. When I pop the hood to the vehicle I noticed the engine was rusted and corroded in my personal opinion because this vehicle had been previously located from down south I think it had been involved in some serious water damage they bought this vehicle on auction replaced the interior and try to sell it at a premium price listed $2500.00 over a base model Chevy Volt. It's okay I now realize this was a failing business location and the most likely prey on impatience buyers. Ok Part 2: How to protect yourself from bad dealers like this and gain the upper hand in your negotiation strategy. The very next day I took my vehicle to Carmax they offer free appraisals for your vehicle they do a full inspection on the vehicle and give you a no haggle price keep in mind they are a business they also have a bottom line and they need to make their money you have to be realistic and that is why I personally love Carmax they are 100% transparent in their dealings. After only 30 minutes of being there I had my appraisal at $10,000 which is exactly what I owed on my vehicle. They offered to buy my vehicle on spot check in hand. Unfortunately I had to pass because they didn't have the vehicle I was currently looking for. I sat in their parking lot for about an hour made a couple dozen phone calls found the car that I was looking for located a few hours away give the dealership a call and told them my story. I said I want to buy the vehicle they have listed for the price they have it listed at so long as they buy my trade-in out right I explain to them I have a current dated appraisal from Carmax a full inspection with this help me in getting my trade-in paid off they responded yes! I shot up North and bought the car of my dreams without being upside down in my previous vehicle. I was incredibly happy with the full process which only took about 30 minutes they had no need to lie to me or take it vantage of me they simply wanted me to have a good experience and a fair trade these other dealerships you must work with if you want to avoid bad buys. If your not careful you can really get yourself into some Financial trouble please take the time do your research and if it doesn't feel right wait it out. read more

At first I was a little skeptical about here due to the reviews. I came because my company had a perks program so I thought it would be ok to at least check it out! I'm glad I did. While the car we originally were going to look at was locked in the shop they had a similar car and honestly it wasn't for us. Then we were shown a Hyundai Elantra GT 2015 and love it and it was only a rental car with no accidents so it was very well taken care of! We were shown the Car Fax on all the cars we looked at, helped with financing, given a good deal and never felt pressured. We worked it Atila who was great! Then we worked with another gentleman setting up our financing as well! We were able to trade in our old car as well (we'll miss you Honda Accord) which helped with the price. I bought a 2014 Prius C from the sales rep Paul on Black Friday 2016. Overall, I expected some shady behavior as this was a used car dealership, and they certainly met my expectations there. First of all, as a Black Friday promotion, the first 10 people to buy a car that day were *supposed* to receive a 50" flat screen TV. I was one of those people. It has been 6 months, and after calling three times to check up on the status on the TV, I have yet to receive it. Common guys, it doesn't take more than a month to get a TV in 2016. Your scheme isn't fooling anyone. Apart from lying about the TV, they were very secretive about the actual cost breakdown of the car until I was actually filling out the paperwork. You will only get the low price on the website if you use 80% financing from one of the shitty banks they partner with (expect a high interest rate, and terrible service). Yes, they say this on their website in small print at the very bottom of each used car ad (keep scrolling...), but I would not say it is obvious. I had the pleasure of getting BCI Financial (their yelp page speaks for itself). A couple more things... good or bad. No negotiations. There is a ridiculous $600 dealership fee. There is another $800 insurance fee that they throw in too when you get financing. They're very picky about what mechanic you get the car inspected by before you buy. They're pretty laid back about test driving. Unfortunately because of the TV thing I will not be buying another car from them, and will definitely be reporting them to the BBB and elsewhere if the issue is not resolved. read more

Working with Chris Trombley, who stepped in for an absent initial contact, we quickly sealed a good deal on a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. While he would not haggle, the pricing of the car was already rated as a Great Deal on autotrader.com. A former Enterprise rental, it was in prime condition and still had room on the manufacturer's warranty. Key Pros: We were pleased to be able to test drive the car on our own, and even more pleased with Chris and AutoMax employees working with us to have it inspected by a local independent mechanic. As with any used car, there were some findings such as rotors needing turning due to sitting, calipers needing adjustment, tires needing rotating, and alignment. Chris and crew never hesitated to do the required work, and threw in new brake pads as well, all at no extra charge. Cons: While the car could have been a bit cleaner on pick-up (easily wiped off sap spots and road dirt, and food wrapper in center console), the tires were shined up nicely and the car really was clean. A little more gas in the tank would have been nice, but not expected. To the surprise of Chris and us, the car was missing a spare on delivery, but Chris and the dealership stepped up quickly and delivered it to us the next day, an hour away from the dealership. These cons are minor as you can see, and they actually turned into a positive thanks to Chris and the very pleasant and efficient gentleman Chris sent down with the spare. I'm sorry I did not get his name as well, he deserves applause and I hope someone from the dealership shares this with him as well. All in all, we went into this as many people do, dreading the practice of trying to buy a car and not be taken advantage of too much. Chris and AutoMax pleasantly surprised us. read more
