I've seen plenty of customer cars here over the years so I figured that it was worth a try. My 2004 Grand Marquis needed two things repaired, the speed control for the blower and the air suspension compressor. They did the work promptly and at a reasonable price, far better than what the dealership was estimating. Previously I tried the Lincoln dealership in Southgate for the blower not being able to be controlled. It was either on high or off. Their mechanic had the car for 2 days and couldn't find a problem. They said it was working fine and sent me on my way. It failed as I pulled out of their parking lot so I went back. They said I could leave it again for the night and they would look it the next day again. I decided that apparently their mechanic was not too experienced with intermittent blower speed issues even though the problem is highly recognized on Youtube for the Panther platform cars. On my own with Youtube's help I concluded that it was the blower control resistor, as this was a common issue with the Panther platform and decided to take it to Livernois Automotive. Mike and I talked and they replaced the blower resistor and the problem was successfully fixed in addition to the air compressor I needed for the suspension system. Mike and his mechanics are what we look for in mechanics. Honest, dependable, and with reasonable prices. This is now my go-to shop for automotive repairs. Thanks Mike....

I chose Gil's to paint a couple replacement trim pieces for an older car of mine, and I'm having a…read morehard time articulating just how disappointed I am with every aspect of the experience. Kevin - or whatever his name is - was dismissive and brusque, which I hoped was the hallmark of a guy so good at what he does that courtesy had become an afterthought. Well, I was wrong. Although he quoted me "a week or two," it ended up taking the better part of a month. Every time I called, I got some runaround about how "we don't bother Kevin in the booth" like he was some kind of savant. Apparently he couldn't match the paint without the intervention of their "paint rep," which begs the question how they get anything painted at all. When I did finally get the call, I was irritated to find that he had also painted the piece of trim I'd supplied as a reference, which sort of defeats the purpose, doesn't it? On top of that, there are runs, sags, and s**t in the paint...like, did you spray this on the ground outside with one hand over your eyes? I guess I shouldn't be surprised at the results when I recall seeing a gallon jug of cheap vodka on the floor behind the counter when I picked up the parts. There's a bit from Calvin and Hobbes where he's supposed to be shoveling snow or something, and is deliberately making a hash of it. He explains to Hobbes that "I find if you do a job poorly enough the first time, you often don't get asked to do it again." So, I didn't ask again. I am sorry to have trusted that jerk with parts of a car that's very special to me, and I intend to find a friendlier, more competent shop to fix his lousy work.
