This place is very disappointing to say the least. I'm really not sure where all the positive reviews are coming from. I've also viewed a few reports made with the Better Business Bureau (BBB) so consumers beware. On top of gouging people on their estimates, the owner Mark is the worst to deal with on any customer issues. He's extremely defensive and rude. He won't let the customer talk but proceeds to insult and lecture in an effort to defend his business. He seriously needs to learn better customer service. We had our BMW there twice. The first time it ended up being there for nearly 3 weeks, when we were initially told "the part will be in tomorrow", then a day to get the work done etc. Not to mention they had padded the work estimate with lots of labor hours which of course is where they make their money. Then the 2nd time, we had a minor issue with the emission control. This time we went out to 3 other foreign auto repair shops in our area, gave them the information on the code that was thrown from the cars computer, plus the part number for what needed to be replaced and we were shocked but not surprised. Automotion was literally 2 times the price of the other reputable shops so it confirmed what we had thought.....that their bids were way too padded on labor. For this emission control part replacement, the other 3 shops quoted exactly the same saying it was about a 1 hour job. Automotion said it was 4 hours plus. Do your homework and don't accept what this shop is telling you without getting other estimates to compare. I think you'll be surprised at how much money "and effort" you can save by not taking your car to Automotion! Oh and since I wrote this review, Mark the owner has tried to rebut and defend by a long winded response. Don't buy it......these guys are a joke !! I had a large coolant leak in my Subaru so I took it to them for a diagnostic. The price for that was fair and they found the issue quickly. The leak was from the water pump which I had recently replaced so it was still under warranty. I ended up taking it over to the Subaru dealership since it was all paid for under the warranty. Automotion was very helpful and even suggested taking it to the dealership instead of trying to keep the work for themselves. I never wish maintenance on my car but if it does happen again I will definitely be bringing it here! read more

For you to state such GD source - as the work progressed we found that they were NOT direct fit but we had already agreed to install them. There was trouble with the fitment that took more time and I made you aware of this but still did not exceed the Labor amount originally agreed to. * I have a great deal respect for myself and others; and you never ever * *stated that original Land Rover Parts have to be modified on original *Land Rover Vehicle. Brought my car in to diagnose a couple of check light issues and after paying them a few times for the same issue, the check lights still come on for the same reasons and they told tell me they can then fix it but for several thousand dollars. This after spending money on the same issues that they misdiagnosed and wouldn't take responsibility for the previous times I have paid them for the same thing with no correction. They main advisor never acknowledged anything that was done saying they have to charge to diagnose every time even for the same problem and had no empathy for the previous service charges. Recommended to me when I first moved to Reno, after my last experience with them, I'd strongly recommend NOT patronizing their business. I called them for an appointment after going through the usual check of potential items that might be causing my "check engine light" to go on. The person who answered the phone told me to "Have your husband or boyfriend check the oil first and if he doesn't find anything, then call us back." Um, first of all I don't have a husband or boyfriend. Second of all, I know enough about my car to check anything that might go wrong instead of asking the men in my life to take care of it. Took my car in the following morning and instead of asking me what the issue was, the customer service rep became fixated on the fact that I was at 99,000 miles and proceeded to give me the hard sell for their 99,000 miles service check up. Even to the extent of calling me at work after I dropped off the car and asking "How much do you like this car and how long do you want to hold on to it?" His question wasn't in reference to specific reason I'd brought my car in for (minor engine issue that was resolved quickly), but to again try to sell me on their $1000 service check up. Needless to say, I told him to focus on fixing the specific reason that was wrong with my car and that thanks to his "concern," I'd be taking my business elsewhere. I know the economy sucks and it's probably harder these days for car repair places to get business that isn't essential repairs. But that's no excuse for being patronizing/pushy (not to mention sexist), especially when I take good care of my car and have a decent grasp on how it runs. They kept my car for 2 months...seriously, 2 MONTHS. When I got it back, it was not completely fixed. I have a 2000 Saab 9-3 and when I took it to a repair shop that specializes in Swedish cars here in the bay area, they were pretty surprised with what was done to it and the time frame it took to get my car back in the condition I received it. Surprised may not be the right word...they seemed pretty dumbfounded. I paid $4500 to get a car back that still had $2500 worth of repairs needed. They rebuilt the Turbo...they said that it would take too long to get a new turbo. The new shop I took it to said they would never do that type of repair because it's tedious and you can get a new turbo easily... I'm highly disappointed in my experience with this shop. The owner Mark, while friendly enough, gave me the run around when he did contact me. I took a day off of work and was about to drive 4 hours to Reno on a Friday to get my car when it was promised to me. We called the shop the day before we were supposed to pick it up and Mark was on vacation without giving instructions to anyone about my car. My car was far from done. What if I drove to Reno to pick up my car? It was absolutely ridiculous. Do NOT take your car here...especially if it's a Saab, because they have no idea how to fix them correctly. I'm still considering reporting them to the BBB due to the fact that they had my car for 2 months and did not even get it in working order. read more

I took my car in for repairs on some wiring. After keeping my car for six weeks and at a cost of $700, the car was finally ready. When I got it back, the dash was torn up and cracked in multiple spots, there was a funky clicking sound coming from my steering wheel, and when I turned on my lights at night, the brights were permanently on. My husband and I immediately brought this to the attention of the owner, who then claimed that we were lying, and that the car came in that way. After further looking into the matter, we discovered that the steering wheel (which had been taken apart) was not reassembled properly. Aside from being very unsafe, this was causing the horn to partially connect (causing the clicking sound), and we also discovered that the connection for the lights was not put together properly (I did not bring my car in for the lights, which were fully functioning before they "fixed" my car), which is why the brights were stuck on. Although one problem was fixed, they caused a few more in the interim, and made my car unsafe to drive. They may treat some customers well, but I feel as though I was fleeced and disrespected in the process. I have since found a competent mechanic who does honest, quality work at a fair price. I recommend finding another place to take your import; there are other places in town that actually take pride in their work and respect their clientele. This is not the place. read more

I recently had issues with my Ford Excursion 7.3 diesel coming into Reno from the mountains. This was basically our first day of a long RV roadtrip. After reading countless reviews, I decided to take my vehicle to Auto Motion. I was met by Nick and Nicko just as they opened. They were very nice and eager to help. Nick told me they would try to get my car fixed by the end of day. Nicko was nice enough to shuttle me back to our RV site. The vehicle was done at the end of the day. Unfortunately, as we hitched up our trailer to continue our vacation the next day, the vehicle began to loose power. I immediately called Nick to tell him. Nick was honest and told me that they had done the most they could do on a diesel engine. Nick could have just left it at that but he called around to other auto shops that specialized in diesel engines. He hooked me up with another local shop and got the job done. Nick went above and beyond to help get me and my family back on the road. While they weren't able to totally fix my Excursion, Nick's customer service was excellent. I never expected to get so much help. Thanks Nick and Nicko! In the end, the service they did perform was needed as part of my regular service anyway. read more

I was having issues with my jaguar and ended up having to change four injectors. Automotion was trying to charge over $2000 for changing one injector. They were charging me $1000 per injector. I wasn't satisfied with the service so I went to the dealership. I ended up getting the work done at the dealership and they charged me $800 per injector and they found that all four injectors on one bank had to be changed. After it was all said and done I paid $4000 for parts and labor. Automotion gave me a quote before I dropped it off and then after I got there they jacked that price up and multiplied it by four. Then they said that they would have to diagnose it and they charged me $100+ over what the dealership ultimately charged me to diagnose it. The parts and labor they were trying to charge me for were about $200 over what the dealer charged me for each. I wish I would have read reviews before doing business with them. I will never go there for anything or recommend this place to anyone. read more

I took my mercedes down for a dead battery and windows that wouldn't roll down. I told them to change the battery, and maybe look at the fuses because the dash lights weren't working properly. Seems simple enough. They called two days later ( on this battery issue) and said they needed to keep it over the weekend to check the amps. He couldnt figure out what he called "was drawing" amps. I let him keep it over. 5 days later he finally called me, at 3 in the afternoon. they said it was working fine and come and get it. They lied. All they did was replace the battery, and it took them 5 days! They did not replace any fuses, they did not fix the windows. The charge $400.00 I do not recommend them. read more

Had my car for 7 weeks - couldn't diagnose the problem (blown turbo - the flood of oil from the intercooler MIGHT have been a clue) - AND they lost my $350 key. You read that right - they LOST THE KEY. They tried to charge me $450 for "diagnostics" - and told me I was on my own to replace the key - although they lost it "they weren't responsible (?)". These guys had great customer service once I got to the shop (the woman on the phone was so-so). They were able to see my car same-day to diagnose a Check Engine light issue that arose while I was passing through Reno. Throughout the process, they kept me in the loop. This is a great business! I have a 2014 Audi Q7 and was having problems with my AC. That is a big deal in the summertime especially if you wear a suit every day. After calling around to a few different shops and being told they were a week out I called Automotion and Zach said bring it in in the morning and we will make every attempt to get it done. They communicated well and told me they would have to replace the fan and the condenser. When I went to pick it up at the end of the day they surprised me by saying the condenser was fine and saved me $150 off my bill. I will be bringing my Audi to this shop from now on. read more

We visited from out of town to purchase a used vehicle from a dealership nearby and brought our car to Automotion for a full pre-purchase inspection. We had read great reviews on google and got confirmation from the Audi dealership that this was a great place to bring it. If only we had Automotion near us in Chicago! The inspection was very detailed and we left there knowing our car is in great shape. They even inspected the spare tire and tire pump knowing that we were going to be on the road for 3,000 miles before even arriving home! We had used Automotion years ago for a used BMW, that had several parts wear out at once while my daughter was in college. They were very helpful and worked with her schedule to get everything fixed. Now, with a newer BMW X3 the engine light came on. Rick at Automotion had a quick check done at no cost, finding that the problem was possibly covered by BMW Factory Warranty. He gave us the number to BMW Customer Service, as well as the number to the local BMW dealership. BMW confirmed that it was under their warranty. How's that for integrity? Instead of quoting a price to fix it, Rick had us check on the cost effective plan first. We will definitely be going back for routine maintenance and when factory warranty ends. Going to the mechanic to fix your car is NEVER a pleasant experience unless you make a ton on money and have time to waste. I have taken both my 2006 Nissan Frontier to this business and my wife's 2005 VW TDI Beetle. The first time we went here was to replace the turbo charger that a friend who is a spotty mechanic put in wrong. The price was around $2000 for a "factory remaned turbo" the previous mechanic charged me $2000 for a non-factory remaned turbo. Believe me, I was angry to have had to spend $4000 total to fix my wife's car (that I hated), but Automotion's prompt response to this problem and friendly service negated some of that anger. I believe we got a good deal and never had a problem with it after that. I brought my 2006 Nissan Frontier to Automotion for a bad fuel sending unit. The staff at automotion told me that this particular part has been recalled and I was still under warranty (by two months). I ended up taking this to the dealer and they fixed it for free. While Automotion could have given me the shaft they did not and I feel I was treated very good. I have ALWAYS had good interactions with Bill and other mechanic staff and will continue to bring all of my vehicles here. read more

Keep it short and simple.. You can tell they were busy and I had issues with my Audi A4. Had to keep the car over the weekend waiting for parts. I decide to bring up the parts myself monday morning to possibly have the car ready monday afternoon. Original time was tuesday but needed it sooner. After a little struggle they repaired my car monday and car seems to be running fine. I would use them again and refer other customers. Dealt with William "manager" most of the time.
