AutoNation Chevrolet West Colonial's terrible communication 1/6 - They don't answer the phone here, but also don't respond to texts
    Sarah S.

Run far away! Ok, you're probably not expecting much from the service department of a car dealership, but even with my own low expectations I was blown away. The two star average is extremely generous. I had been looking at upgrading to electric, but I certainly won't be spending any money here. I had a couple of outstanding recalls on my Chevy Spark, so on November 30 I made an appointment for the date December 14. The next day someone from AutoNation Chevrolet called me to ask if I needed to set up an appointment and I said I already did online. On December 12, I got a reminder email from someone named Justin L. I wrote back to Justin asking if I could get confirmation that they had the parts needed to complete my recalls, and listed out the recalls on my vehicle. Never got a response. Unfortunately, my car battery died (unrelated, it was at the end of its life) on December 14 so I called to reschedule the appointment and talked to someone named Angela. She told me she couldn't reschedule for me and I had to call the dealership directly, and she provided me the number. The phone number she provided me directed me back to her and she told me they were probably "all in a meeting" and I should call later. I looked back at my confirmation email and realized there was an option to reschedule online, so I did that. I rescheduled my appointment for December 30. When I went in at my scheduled appointment time, William F told me I didn't have an appointment. I tried to show him the email which read "Appointment Confirmation: AUTONATION CHEVROLET WEST COLONIAL" with the date "Saturday, December 30th 2023" and he said the appointment wasn't confirmed unless they called me to confirm it. He treated me like a fool for thinking that an "appointment confirmation" email was a confirmation of an appointment. Silly me, I guess. It was very clear immediately that William wanted to get rid of me and he told me "come back Tuesday." I told him I didn't have time on Tuesday, as I work, which was why I had scheduled the appointment for this day at this time. He eventually agreed to take the vehicle but said "it will take a little while." I said that was okay because my wife had driven over to pick me up, and we could come back later in the day to pick it up. He told me he would call me when it was ready and I left. I went about my day as planned and didn't hear back from William. Around 4:15pm, I tried to call for an update, as I could see that the dealership closed at 5pm. The phone rang and rang and eventually went to a voice mail box for a specific person who was not William. I tried a couple of more times and eventually we decided to drive over, since there seemed to be no other way to get an update. When we got there, William and another man in a white shirt (who seemed like he might be a manager) were standing in the lobby as if they were about to leave. I told them we were wondering what was up with the car and came over since no one was answering the phone and they were about to close. William immediately claimed that he had told us the car wouldn't be ready until "at least next week." He absolutely did not tell me this, and I told him so. He got pretty combative and defensive and refused to take responsibility for anything. His manager (I assume, mainly because his customer service skills were better) jumped in and apologized and William quickly changed his attitude. They told me I could take the car now and bring it back Tuesday, or just leave it and they would have a technician look at it on Tuesday. When I asked if it would be ready Tuesday they said no, that after they had the technician look at it, THEN they would order the parts, because they don't stock the recall parts. If I wanted to pick up the car on Tuesday, I could pick it up then to be able to use it while waiting for the parts to come in. They promised they would call on Tuesday to let me know the status of the car and whether I could pick it up (spoiler: they didn't). I asked if there was a better way to get in contact with them, since the phone number provided just rang and rang. William sent me a text and told me I could reach him through text, and if I wanted to talk on the phone, I needed to text him first. Yelp has a review character limit, so I'll attach the screenshots of all the texts I sent trying to get any answer about the status of my car. I also tried countless times through every phone number I could find for this dealership (there's a lot) to get someone on the line who could tell me what's going on with my car. I was hung up on several times and multiple times Angela tried to send me through to William, who she said she could see at his desk not picking up my calls. It's a good thing I WFH or I would have been SOL since they don't want to talk to their customers or keep any of their promises to keep people informed. I've heard Starling Chevrolet on OBT has better customer service, so I'll be sure to take any business I have there.

Great working with Luis J. Today. We wanted to sell our Volvo xc60. Luis reached out to us. Made an offer. Checked out the car and delivered. Luis worked to make the process smooth and painless.

The before bumper small crack by tail light didn't bother me at all.

I brought my Tahoe in for an issue with the cruise control not working and the Grading Break automatically activating. Took them two full days to respond saying the issue was with two modules in the back that had fallen onto the muffler and melted some. Seemed reasonable so I had them replace the bumper and the modules assuming that would fix the issue. It took 18 days for them to paint the bumper and get the car back to me. I immediately noticed the different colors the bumper was to the rest of the car and made Justin, my service advisor, aware that I was not happy. He looked at it and said he agreed that he would not want that for his car either. I needed the car back and told him I would bring it back to have them blend it into the rear quarter panel, which he said they didn't do because they didn't want to drive the car to the body shop. I'm sorry but you can drive the car so it gets a proper paint job. The next day I noticed that the cruise control and grading brake issue still existed. So the original issue I brought it in for was still there. While those parts may have needed to be replaced, that is not what I asked for, and now I've paid $3,400 for a vehicle with a noticeably different bumper and still has issues. NOT HAPPY So while I had the vehicle back, I do my research online and find that it is common for the BCM (brake control module) to need some electrical grease or sometimes be replaced. I take it back ask for them to blend the bumper and why I was charged for replacing those parts, when it appears the BCM was the issue. Justin stated that he doesn't know what the problem is, so he can't say anything until they look into it further, but it's possible for me to have had multiple issues. (But the issue still exists) So what's the fix, a PCM upgrade... code for nothing actually was replaced/repaired. They also didn't blend the bumper and when I asked why, they said they don't do that (wtf). Even speaking to the Manager of the service department he said they don't and wouldn't do that!!! So why not tell me that from when I first spotted the color variation, why not tell me that when I brought it back, why tell me they had the paint person ready for me the previous week, but I didn't bring the car back. Any reputable paint shop knows you blend paint especially white (or pearl in my case) as they are difficult to match. To me it seems since they got paid already they were less than helpful on getting the car back right. Like I said about the parts they replaced were melted and no worries if they fixed the problem. They didn't but, if they had done a decent job on the paint I wouldn't be leaving a negative review. However, now being without a car for over 22 days and then refusing to blend the bumper after paying $3,400, I can say I will not be going back there anytime soon and to proceed with caution when visiting there service department.

Went to purchase a 2024 Chevrolet Suburban from Autonation West Colonial. I agreed on a deal that included changing the black rims out for ones we picked out with the salesman, Paul Nunes. The Sales Manager, Mr. Emmanuel Reyes approved the deal, gave us paperwork (included in this review) promising the installation of 4 rims part number 84802305. Both salesman and sales manager indicated that as soon as the wheels come in, which would take about a week, we could bring the vehicle in for the rim swap. We were told the rims could not be swapped prior to taking possession as they were not allowed to alter the vehicle prior to delivery. We followed up with text messages with the salesman on the status of the rims that were ordered since it was over a week later. We were told they had not come in and to check again in a few days. On the 3rd contact, the salesman which was over 10 days since he said they were ordered, the salesman said he would check on the rims order and get back to us. When he failed to call us back, the following day I talked to the Sales Manager, Emmanuel Reyes. Mr. Reyes told me the salesman was in trouble for promising the wheels and they were not going to swap the rims out as they are too expensive. Even though Mr. Reyes approved the rims he is now breaking the agreement. He said a 3rd party vendor could dip the black rims in chrome. We advised him we wanted the agreed upon rims that were stated in the sales order and promisary paper given to us. We will seek alternative methods to resolve the dealership deceptive business practices. Let the buyer beware, this dealership will promise you anything just to get the deal then back out once you take possession.

This was his first major purchase, and we were assured by the dealership that the truck was in mint condition, fully inspected, and had no issues. However, shortly after the purchase, the truck developed serious transmission problems. It ultimately required a full transmission replacement. Thankfully, we did purchase a warranty, but even that has turned into another issue. The warranty company is not covering the full cost, and the dealership has refused to step in and cover the remaining balance. Their reasoning was that the repair shop was charging too much--but that leaves us stuck paying for a major repair on a vehicle that should not have had these issues in the first place. To make matters worse, even some of the dealership employees have told us that this situation isn't right and that the cost should have been covered. However, the owner has refused to take responsibility or pay the remaining balance. The truck has now been sitting in the shop for over a month, completely undrivable. I do want to mention that Jay, our salesman, was great to work with. Unfortunately, beyond that, I cannot say anything positive about this dealership. We feel like we were sold a lemon, and the dealership is not standing behind the vehicle they sold us. I would strongly caution anyone considering buying from Orlando Preowned to think twice.

My previous ride had been via Drivetime and I had fallen in love with my 2016 Kia Soul. I went to Orlando Kia West hoping perhaps they might have a newer model with a back up camera. I was very clear when I went in, what I could put down, and the payments per month I could afford. I was shown a very nice 2020 Kia soul, lots of bells and whistles. And while I loved the car I was concerned about the price. The gentleman I was placed with for Sales was the most high pressure, rude, and dismissive person I have met. From the outset he was bound and determined to sell me this car at the exact price. I freely admit I have not so great credit, however if someone tells you from the outset, A) I have less then desirable credit, B) This is exactly how much I have to put down and C) Here are payments I know I can afford. How do you come back to them with numbers that require 3x the down payment amount and 200$ more then they said they could pay? I was baffled. I stood firm and then the wanting to get a co-signer push started. I was at the dealership with my girlfriend and over and over and over he wanted her to sign, even making her feel guilty for not offering. It was ludicrous! I even asked about a used car at a lower price point and I was told point blank it would be harder to finance a used car versus a new one. And he went for the co-signer angle for the 3rd time after being told a FIRM no. At that point I had enough. We left the dealership, and went to DriveTime on West Colonial. With in 2 hours I had a 2017 Kia soul, with a rearview camera (the only thing I really wanted), and payments in my budget, keys in hand. I am sure other Kia dealerships may be nice, but please at all cost avoid this one.
