I heard of laziness before but this place took the whole cake. The parking lot was filled with cars, so I'm thinking this place is packed. No it wasn't packed with customers but packed with employees. The ones that were working had on red shirts. The ones that did nothing had on grey shirts. One short guy stood there in a man spread half the time I was in there. He did absolutely nothing, but stand with one leg up on a box and open. This sweet young man came from the back of the store to the front to help me. Even though 3 people with grey shirts were just standing there. One in a man spread, one leaning on the counter on his phone and the female standing there on her phone behind them. Why have managers if they don't do anything? This is the biggest Auto Zone I'll seen in NYC but due to the laziness of management I will not be returning. The two guys in the red shirts were asking each other questions about the problems they were having with the computers. Also Auto Zone, get Apple computer. This is likely the most low class, ghetto Autozone store I have ever been to. From the filthy parking lot which is a veritable toxic waste dump, to the homeless looking street mechanics hanging around the lot who yell out to you as you drive in, to the most incredibly rude, lazy and unhelpful store representatives who "work" inside. If you want a pleasant, productive experience, where you'll actually find something you need for your vehicle, do yourself a favor and avoid this place if at all possible. Instead of paying almost $90 to change 2 light bulbs. Had it done for just $15. Got the light bulb from Autozone, and had my brother who is a handyman changing it. The whole thing took 5 minutes. I may have very well passed 4-5 other auto shops before ending up @ Autozone, but it was well worth it. Dropped by here last night to buy a battery jumper kit and test my car battery for defects. When I first walked in, I was greeted by an attendant and was immediately asked the following... Attendant: "Good Evening Sir, Welcome to Auto Zone! Are you here to have your car Battery Charged?" Chun: "Good Evening to you as well, I am here to test the car battery and possibly have it charged if it's drained." Attendant: "Certainly, I will direct you to where you need to go. The service is free of charge." Chun: "... Free? Any minimum purchase?" Attendant: "No sir, its a free service for anyone that needs their car battery charged." Holy crap!!! How many car part stores actually test and charge car batteries for free? Granted, I went into Auto Zone to pick up a battery jumper kit but to get free maintenance service, that's a major plus! In addition to the great service provided @ Auto Zone, the 15,000 square foot facility offers a wide range of auto care and replacement parts. I've found that Auto Zone carriers a wider range of products than any other auto supply store within the area. After the battery was charged, I proceeded to check out with my battery jumper kit, $49.99 for a Duralast 450AMP battery jumper kit! Along with great service, the store also offers great prices on various items throughout the store. If only Auto Zone wasn't so far out of the way, I may drop by more to pick up car care products. But for specialty items when no one else carries them, Auto Zone is the place to be!!! read more

I thought I had reviewed this place back when I lived in Brooklyn, but I guess not! being in the 1% of New York Yelpers with a car translates to having First World problems different from the average Yelper ("I had a bad massage at this spa", "half price sushi ends too early in the evening", "they wouldn't accept my Groupon"). it's uncommon to find an automobile supplies store with fairly competent employees, plenty of items on stock, and (generally speaking) good prices, but this Autozone is a solid place. I can't say this is a perfect store, but I've never had a problem here, and almost always find what I need. same for my dad, who goes here more frequently, since he lives nearby. sharp contrast to Sears auto centers which usually have poor stock, mediocre pricing, and are staffed by zombies. He may not be working there for long, hopefully.. But stay away from Dexter. Today I went in to buy a toolkit for my motorcycle, particularly I needed a couple of wrenches. I was informed by my girlfriend who worked at an Autozone in Long Island that they have tools that you can rent, or borrow. So I figured I'd try that. Long story short, a very polite young man asked me if I needed help and showed me a container full of unsorted miscellaneous tools and went to help a customer, totally fine and understandable. But I still needed help. So as Im standing at a counter full of metal, Dexter arrives at the same counter but to do something on a computer. I very politely asked him if there was a socket wrench in the bucket. He said he doesnt know and someone else will help me. So I asked him if he could simply tell me if there was a socket wrench in the bucket so I wouldnt have to go rummaging with my bare hands. He pulled the container away from me and shook it around for 2 seconds and basically said that he doesn't know what that is. I asked him "you dont know what a socket wrench is?" and VERY disrespectfully he says "If you know what it is why dont you look for it yourself?" On the other hand there is a young guy who works there who was very helpful and one of the managers who was very respectful, especially in comparison to Dexter. I dont remember their names but never should you, especially working with people, be so disrespectful for absolutely no reason. read more

This is one of the worst auto parts stores I have ever been to. Infact, this place is below par for what an Autozone should be. Firstly, there are dozens of people illegally loitering in the parking lot, fixing up their cars or trying to scam you into scratching their car. (Someone said I scratched their car, they just put chalk on my car saying i scratched theirs) The Staff is generally lazy and unfriendly. They say on the door "Will install windshield wipers" but refuse to do it even when they are not busy. Once I needed to change my battery on my car and I called them 3 times asking about battery changing. I came in person and they said "We dont have the guy in for it right now, they'll be here by 4 come then to get it done" I come in by 5 and they tell me "Yeah we still dont have a guy to do them" then i mentioned how i discussed it with them in person earlier that day and the person who told me there wasnt someone available turned out to be the person to install it....seriously just trying to get out of providing a service they offer. Basically they acted like they were doing me a favor by me paying them to install a replacement car battery. The Parking lot for this place is a mess. Really tight small spots (its new york so they get a pass) dirty (Car fluids everywhere) paper everywhere. Its a sign that they simply just dont give a crap about their clients or their store front. In the store parts are thrown every were, cans of paint are dented, I went in for some bondo that was dented to. Really slow to serve clients (I had my part in hand and waited 10 minutes as the first person online to pay for it) They really don't care. The only reason why I shop at this place is convenience if an Advance Auto Parts showed up and offered better service and store front I would shop there in a heart beat. May 14, 2015 I purchased a set of shocks for my pickup with my debit card.  My mechanic advised me that the shocks I purchased from auto zone would not be a good choice for my vehicle  so I returned them to autozone with the receipt. I was told that the refund would not be for cash and that my bank will be refunded the amount  for the shocks, since it is a debited purchase.  I have since been to the store 5 TIMES CALLED THE MAIN AUTOZONE OFFICE TWICE, resulting in further delays. It is now June 6, I called my bank still no credit to my account. I went back to autozone today fustrated. I had decided to to use the credit they owed me by doing an exchange.  To my surprise I was told my refund is under investigation and I wouldn't be able to get the credit, cash, nor an exchange untill after autozone does an investigation. The store manager said there was nothing he could do about it. The manager had nothing else to say. I immediately called autozones main office only to find they are closed on saturdays and they open monday. Further delay. Now I am chasing my $71.75 . This is the case of what happened to the money? I'm sorry but i had a totally different experience at this autozone. I had borrowed my car from my dad and I had left the lights on... dead battery. Auto zone is only about 4 blocks from my home, going in to the store there were only two choices of two open packs. so first i got the 19.99 jumpstart and went home to charge it then resized that it was missing the plug . Having to go back to the store and then buy the 49.99$ one and going home again then found out it took 12 hours to charge we did not have 12 hours and by this time my boyfriend had found a nice neighbor to jump our car. I bring it back and was told i could not return it because it was not my credit car. The next day my boyfriend goes to return it and the manger would not let and then continued to call him a liar he tried to explain that we bought it open and it was the only one and that we got a jump and the manger did not want to hear it . read more

A friendly, competent group of people work at this store. They also go the extra mile. One of the guys, I hope I am remembering his name correctly, Andre (a young African American gentleman) was very kind to come to the parking lot in pretty cold weather yesterday to help me install a windshield wiper product I had just bought there. This place is the only Autozone store that I know of, that lets people fix their cars in their parking lot. There are actually some street mechanic guys on that lot, and they do repairs for you. Bad thing that I noticed, is that they are sold out on the specials of the week items, thats not cool. read more
