Wednesday the technician called and said it had no compression, that they would tear into it further and was to call back the next day. The following day I didn't hear from them so I called. He told me they weren't quit sure what the point of failure was, but took pictures and sent them to the parts supplier to help identify the failure. (Red flag - the failure had to be identified to be able to know what part failed, right?). The next day they told me the timing chain broke and they "suspect" it caused major engine damage and that it would be 20K for a new motor installed - in a 11 year old truck that is only worth 12K. I asked about the warranty, since the failure was a direct result of a part they installed and they said its not covered because the list of exclusions (of course). They told me the manufacturer would not cover any of the damage because the part was out of warranty (1 year). I asked where they got the parts and a quick search showed they had their choice of buying the kit that had a 1 year warranty or a kit that had a lifetime warranty. (They charged me the equivalent price of the lifetime warranty parts, and didn't ask if I would like to pay extra for more quality parts). I go in today to have the vehicle towed to my home and all the parts they removed are on my leather passenger seat without even a paper towel put down. After I finished taking pictures, someone came out, I'm guessing the mechanic, and placed my dipstick in the pile of parts. I asked him if it was standard practice to put dirty oily parts on customers seats like that. He responded it was indeed the practice if the vehicle is stored outside. EDIT: It's been a little over two weeks since the owner/manager commented on this review to ask for contact information in which I provided. I have yet to hear from him.
