I found my new go-to auto shop! Elio was very attentive and was willing to squeeze me into his busy schedule on a Wednesday, same day appointment. Helio is amazing. Very upfront, honest and transparent. I've come here twice now. Once to have my A/C checked and today to check my transmission. Helio and his team diagnosed the issue, let me know where to purchase transmission fluid at a good price and even filled the transmission fluid for me. He wasn't even going to charge me! The headline is: if you're thinking of going here, do it. Great value, reliable, honest, and friendly. Our family's car was having AC issues, and it turned out that it was partially covered by an extended warranty at the dealer. Great right? Wrong. Turns out it need an additional repair that would come out of pocket, and the dealer refused to see them as separate repairs. They wanted to charge a ridiculous amount for just one repair, and said it would take 3 days. Helios did both repairs for about half the cost but f the drape just doing one, and did it all in one day. Not only that, when we picked up the car he showed us pictures of the repair process so we could see all the work he did. The car is running great and we'll be coming back to AV first for any future issues! read more

I've been looking for a local mechanic for a while. My car is about 10 years old so I certainly don't want to take it to the dealer for the expected issues that an older car will inevitably have. Brought my car in because it was shaking while idle. I had a similar issue a few years ago, so I had a good idea of what the issue was. Brought it in, they gave me a free diagnosis and told me I could save money by just walking over to autozone to buy the replacement part and then they could install it for me. Their diagnosis and repair cost me about 1/2 of how much I paid at another mechanic last time around. Thus far, my car seems to be fine. Auto PhD is a no frills place. You know that feeling you get when you find a real gem in your community and you want to tell everybody.... but then don't want to tell anybody because then you know once everyone finds out, it will no longer be the gem you love? At the risk of that happening I MUST tell you about Elio... I have a 2015 Land Rover Evoque. Love the car, but the maintenance is super pricey. I needed new front and rear brake pads. And after getting expensive scheduled maintenance at the dealer, I had very little interest in paying an extra $1500 for brakes. The dealer mechanic told me it was fine to go elsewhere, but suggested I buy LR pads. They said if I didn't, I ran the risk of having messed up brakes as LR rotors are very specific and finicky. So I did buy the parts ($400) and planned to use another mechanic. Enter Elio... I will admit, Elio's was not the first place I called. I called several places and was surprised to learn that a lot of secondary mechanics won't service Land Rovers. WTF? They just flat out refused. I guess it has something to do with their finicky nature the dealer sort of intimated. I thought I might have to pay for the brakes with the dealer after all, but fortunately I called Elio! So I pay Elio a visit and the first thing he says is the dealer ripped me off for the parts. Huh? But...blah blah, dealer, blah blah, squeaky brakes, blah blah, need original parts, blah blah, can't use aftermarket parts because squeaking blah blah. The Elio told me what the mechanic said was true, but he could have gotten it for much less. This I doubted since "hello, you would have paid LR the same as I would have!" He then showed me the brand and parts number on the pads I bought from LR and the brand that came up in his computer... IT WAS THE SAME BRAND AND SAME PARTS!!!! He could have gotten them for less than half. Color me pissed! Not at Elio, but at Land Rover... Anyhoo, cutting to the chase, Elio did a GREAT job. And the labor was $1000 less than at the dealer. And now that I have a local that knows his stuff better than the Land Rover dealers themselves, I expect to be using him more often than not. read more

I came across this place after searching extensively for a somewhere to get my car fixed. This was the place that I got the best deal from and the service was phenomenal. My car was fixed relatively quickly, they stayed open an entire hour later than they were supposed to, gave me a good deal on my car and even fixed my AC for free. The mechanics there are some of the nicest people ever. They were very honest and trustworthy and went out of their way to provide excellent service. I ordered a part for the car which turned out to be the wrong part and they went out and bought the right parts for me and installed it in the car. I have been really happy with my experiences with Elio and his crew here. I had a misfire issue and took my car to another mechanic first who recommended a tune-up but that didn't do anything. After that I took it to Elio and he said there would be a fee for the diagnostic but it would count towards the labor on any repairs. He was also busy so couldn't get to it right away. I decided to wait and pay the fee. They correctly diagnosed the issue and also made a point to make sure I replaced only the problem part and didn't pay extra parts/labor for an unnecessary fix. It ended up being a cheap fix in addition to the diagnostic fee. I was impressed and I wish I had taken the car to them in the first place. On a prior occasion, I needed a small repair done and he gave the best quote of the shops I called and did the repair correctly. read more

Finally I found a trustworthy mechanic. I bought a lemon that needed major repair and I worked close to Auto PhD and decided to take it in. They gave me the breakdown on what was needed to get it up and running again. I wanted a second opinion so I took it to a different shop that I previously had good service with. They recommended a whole new engine and 5k more in expenses. I decided to have Auto PHD repair the vehicle and its been running great since! They did the recommended repair for alot cheaper. Auto PhD is the only service station provider I've dealt with for 4 years. They have consistently given me great service at a fair price. Ask for Helio (pronounced A-lio) and tell him you saw my review. He doesn't try to sell more services than you need, but he always does the work correctly. My car is very high mileage, but extremely reliable and I'm so happy I've been dealing with Helio and Auto PhD. All repair shops should be like this, but they aren't. Helio is a shyster. I paid to have new shocks put on my car. He showed me the invoice for the cost of the shocks. About 6 months later, my car was inspected by another mechanics who told me the shocks were at least 10 years old!!! Auto PhD's parts supplier cut them off/closed their account because of the outrageous number of parts returns they had. What this shop does is show your the parts invoice to convince you that the parts were purchased and the work was completed. Then they return the parts for a credit...while pocketing you money for no work done at all. TOTAL RIP-OFF. Am reporting them to the news channel for an undercover investigation. Auto PHD days are numbered and Helio will land in jail (where he belongs). read more
