Auto PhD is the only service station provider I've dealt with for 4 years. They have consistently given me great service at a fair price. Ask for Helio (pronounced A-lio) and tell him you saw my review. He doesn't try to sell more services than you need, but he always does the work correctly. My car is very high mileage, but extremely reliable and I'm so happy I've been dealing with Helio and Auto PhD. All repair shops should be like this, but they aren't. Helio is a shyster. I paid to have new shocks put on my car. He showed me the invoice for the cost of the shocks. About 6 months later, my car was inspected by another mechanics who told me the shocks were at least 10 years old!!! Auto PhD's parts supplier cut them off/closed their account because of the outrageous number of parts returns they had. What this shop does is show your the parts invoice to convince you that the parts were purchased and the work was completed. Then they return the parts for a credit...while pocketing you money for no work done at all. TOTAL RIP-OFF. Am reporting them to the news channel for an undercover investigation. Auto PHD days are numbered and Helio will land in jail (where he belongs). read more

I have a 2010 Volkswagen CC w/ 100K+ miles... 1) After getting an oil change, I was told my oil gasket was leaking and suggested it be changed...was going to cost about $380. I took it to Helio, he cleaned the leaking oil and put a part on to prevent future leaks...$40. 2) I had an issue w/ my turbocharger and my DTC notice would go on and off. I took it to Helio and he found the issue. He charged me $80 for the part and nothing for labor...did you hear me!? Never in my life has that happened to me. 3) I've even had it taken to a dealer to do some warranty work. When they told me they wanted to decarb my engine, I called Helio and told him the price. He said it was a good deal and that I should let them do it. Definitely go to him first before you go anywhere else. read more

I haven't written a review in a while but I felt the need to write one for Auto PHD. The starter on my son's car, who lives up in LA, died the other day and not being familiar with the area, I was going to have the car towed to my mechanic in Orange county. But after calling around and seeing how expensive it was around here, I decided to make some calls around where my son lives. I sent half a dozen quotes through Yelp and Helio relied back within 15 minutes with a quote that was half of what the nearest quotes I received. As the day went on, nobody else around that area even came close. So I called Helio to make an appointment and even though it was close to noon on a Saturday when the car was eventually dropped of (he closes at 2:00pm), he made sure my son would have his car ready so that he would have it for work on Monday. To top it off, my son accidentally gave him the wrong year of the car so he had to order a new starter that same afternoon and STILL got the car repaired that same day. I spoke to him after my son picked up the car and he was still super nice on the phone even though I know it was probably frustrating for him to have to re-order a new starter that same day AND finish the job in time, anybody else probably would've just finished the job there next day. Anyway, it's great to know there's an honest mechanic around where my son lives and know we can trust him the next time he comes in for another repair. Thanks Helio. read more

These guys are amazing needed a diagnostic ran on my car pep boys wanted 90$ a local shop down the street wanted 65$ and said it would take an hour and a half and couldn't get me in till late next week. The guys at auto PhD took me in immediately ran the diagnostic at no charge took less than 5 minutes found it was probably just a loose gas cap. Have to say I usually dread dealing with shops as I try to do most stuff myself and that can often not mix well when you bring your car in to an average repair shop and get ridiculous quotes for 1-2 hr jobs. I had my car serviced here for an alternator replacement back in December. It is not until now I am needing service (unrelated) but the mechanic I am going to have told me that my check engine light has been turned off. It was working before Auto PhD worked on it. I can only infer that my light was tampered with here, which is illegal btw. There is no way you could've sent me home with a car where the CHECK ENGINE LIGHT wasn't turning on and you didn't inquire for quality insurance purposes. read more
