Overall, a great salon. I usually come here for pedicures because I'm particular about how my nails are done and get anxious when things aren't right. I guess you could call me a perfectionist. That said, I've noticed that anytime there's a hair or bubble in the gel and I politely ask for it to be fixed, it tends to be taken personally. That happened again this time--everything went smoothly during the appointment, but at the end, I pointed out a hair stuck in the gel and asked if it could be removed. The tech didn't say anything, but her body language made it clear she was upset. That kind of reaction is exactly why I usually do my own Gel-X at home. Still, aside from that, the service and quality are solid, and I'd recommend the salon overall. Just not for super detailed gel work. read more

Today was a great day of service at Avalon Nail Bar. Tina gave me a fill and special ombre color request as well as a manicure beforehand. It was my first time having her do my nails and it was just relaxing and great customer service. Tina took her time, she listen to my request and always asked me is this how I like it. I was very please she had a gentle touch and caring personality. What made the experience even better from the start was being greeted by Chantel, she has very kind and warm energy. She took her time and went over all the services, some services like the headspa, eyelash extensions, facials! She did such a great job explaining everything and answering all my questions. I originally just went in to get my nails done, but after Chantel telling me she could assure I got a pedicure and my nails at the same time I decided do a pedicure and a manicure. Leaving a two star review based off of the last two experiences we've had at this location. First off-- I wanted to LOVE Avalon nail bar. They have ample stations, and a variety of techs that have been for the most part, decent. The issue with Avalon lies entirely with their receptionist. I can wholeheartedly say that I've never encountered such a rude individual in my life. While I didn't catch a name, beware of the rotund receptionist with a lisp and glasses. Not only will she try to tell you in a passive aggressive manner to not get the services done that you're requesting (and paying above market prices for) but she will also demand more money for tips and manually change it on her end of the POS system to meet her own demands, not considering that services were paid for and tips are an OPTION, even though a tip was already added. To chase clients and shame clients for not giving more is pure insanity to me, especially after being cut by the drills from the techs and having a lackluster experience. Her attitude is as ugly as she is and we will certainly not be back. read more

She later told me to pay her since she was leaving and waited until I got her a tip. Almost knocked my 15 year old sister trying to get the tip she was giving the other nice nail tech while saying "oh" and then said "my tip for me?" The ladies are nice, but they have raised their prices yet again in just the past ~year, where an acrylic fill has gone from about $40 to $45 and now I was charged $50 for the exact same acrylic fill I get every single time. $50 for a fill with no manicure or anything else is crazy, even in this economy. They told me it was because of the shape I got. I literally got the most standard almond shape that I always get. Between this price jump and often getting started 10-15 minutes past my appointment time, unfortunately, it looks like it's finally time to jump on the press-ons trend, or find a new nail salon. read more

Neve again! I went there one time and had a mani-pedi. On my return, when the color was removed - this is what I got. I have been having my nails done for years and have never had this happen. Unfortunately Pearly Nails on 4th was closed because the new landlord tripled the rent, and they couldn't keep it. My sister and I are long customer's of the salon. Vivian is fantastic and takes care of my mani/pedi. Love her. However, during our last two appointments, we noticed we were not asked if we wanted a beverage. Thinking that was odd, as the service has always been attentive, we asked the manager. We were told that beverages would only be offered on Mon, Tue, & Wed. Unfortunately my nail salon experience has been negatively impacted by this change. So the place that I originally went to they closed down due to the pandemic that is back in LA County. I have gel nails on my natural nails, my nails were chipping and I couldn't walk around (even though there's no place to go) looking crazy. Walked in the AVALON, not a lot of people in there which I enjoy, I love their little sign and check in . I was 6 feet away from other people which was great. I told the lady exactly what I wanted, gel dip gel manicure Kristina killed it!!!!! I will be going back just to her because she made my experience especially for the first time amazing. The service was great, I ended up needing to move the appointment back and they had no problem with it, but it did feel a bit rushed if I'm being honest. The pedicure was great she did a thoughough job, the nails look good but if you look closely a couple of the French tips are off centered and the white polish is slightly overflowing on a couple spots. Maybe she is new, I am only being harsh because a French tip has been pretty much perfect at everywhere else I have been since it's a pretty simple design. The place has been renovated and looks nice and clean. The new manager Chantel is friendly and accommodating. We were walk ins and she was happy to check us in and get our service started. She offered us water and had a good converstion with us while we waited for the technicians to help us. Our service was done by Evon and Camille. Evon helped my son and she did a great job with his pedicure (he is a soccer player and those nails get stepped on a lot). My nail tech was Camille, she always does a great job for both pedi and mani, she has helped me in the past with some amazing designs. I always go for dip manicure and regular pedicure Vivian does an excellent job. She really pays attention not like the others talking very rudely about the customers to each other and they make it obvious. But the front desk clerk young girl is extremely rude to everyone does not have customer service skills she talks over you she rolls her eyes she needs to be removed. So TBH, I hate wasting my time writing negative reviews so if a place is slightly poor as opposed to grossly bad, I won't waste my time and contribute to the messed up negativity in the world right now. But in this case these people did such a horrible job on a basic Mani pedi recently as well as other semi weird experiences that I've had here so it's showtime...lol!! I wish I had taken pictures so I could show what my toes looked like after the pedicure, incomplete painting, jagged, crooked filing I was every angle but straight. As for my hands, my fingernails have been damaged and It's gonna take another month or two for them to make a comeback. I don't know what the lady put on my nails but she used some solution and my nails have been breaking ever since (my natural Nails mind you) I can't believe I paid almost $60 for this subpar quality. The lady doing my manicure Cut my cuticle so deeply that it was difficult for it to stop bleeding. I don't think I've had my cuticles cut anywhere else in at least 20 years and I never get my fingernails polished, and in this case I didn't either, but for some reason, she used some type of solution on my nails, which now all my nails are breaking and I've had exceptionally healthy nails all my life. I'm done with this place most definitely and I agree with others on how rude and aggressive the environment is here. Very strange vibes in general with a bunch of loud inappropriate unprofessional, ladies, gossiping, and being snarky...so both their attitude and the workmanship was unbelievably bad. This review is only based on my most recent experience. I have gone here in the past, with great service. I received a gel mani and regular pedi. My mani came out great, except she clipped my skin too close to the nail bed on 2 fingers, so they were painful for a few days. My toes however look horrible. It looks like she didn't apply the last coat all the way down to the base of nails. Unfortunately I got this done right before my vacation, so was unable to get them fixed. I emailed the salon asking what could be done, but didn't get a response. I will probably come back, but will not work with the same technician again for my pedicure. read more

I came in for a gel manicure, and told the receptionist clearly knew what I was there for. Somehow she relayed it as a pedicure, and the staff started treating me rudely because of the mix-up. I got attitude and cold looks from the workers, which made the whole experience incredibly uncomfortable. There was no apology or effort to correct the situation professionally. I will never return.
