I finally found my go to salon!!!!!!!! I went to Avalon Salon after my pregnancy to chop my hair. It is conveniently close to my home and the reviews drew my attention! I also only paid $40 for a shampoo, haircut, and style! My stylist was Danny and he was just perfect! I told him I needed to drastically shorten my hair without going overboard. The end product was a beautiful long bob and I'm currently enjoying NOT putting my hair in a bun all the time. I have been here a total of 3 times to get my hair colored. I love the color I have gotten each time! It has been beautiful and exactly what I want. The first two times I only had my hair colored which was not very expensive! This last time I went I got the same color which is still as pretty as ever, however, I was also convinced to get a "trim" to get rid of my split ends. No big deal I thought, we had a agreed that it would be about two inches off of my hair. About half way through the hair cut I was informed I would be getting layers too. I didn't want layers but it was a statement that I would be getting layers and not posed as a question. I loved my long hair. It used to be long enough to just hang above the waistband of my pants and now it barely reaches below my shoulder blades. And the front hangs just to my collar bone. This review was hard to for me to write because the color is amazing and until I was told that I was going to be getting layers customer service was great! I am just so upset about my hair being cut and being cut so short. Also, the price was discussed before hand with the color consultation but the pricing of the haircut was never discussed so I was also taken aback by that as well. read more

I booked an appointment with Danny, based on his reviews, and let me tell you, "he is AMAZING". When I walked in, my hair was faded, brassy, Orange, and uneven tones throughout my hair. I told him I wanted to get rid of the excessive red tones in my hair, and created a challenge he wasn't afraid to take on. I also wanted a straight bob, and having the amount of hair I have, was another challenge he wasn't afraid to take. He was patient through the entire process, he soaked my hair with dye, to make sure I wouldn't have any blotchy areas, and he color corrected my hair, to perfection. When cutting my hair he first cut it wet, then dried it, flat ironed it and then gave the finishing cut. Overall I walked out completely happy, I finally found someone I can trust with my hair. When she finished cutting my hair, she blew out my hair and curled the ends so it was hard for me to see how the cut turned out. And can now see she gave me really short layers all around that I HATE. I looks terrible I hate short layers. I had high hopes for this salon from the reviews, but I was disappointed. She told me I have straight hair not wavy, when I have had natural waves my whole life. She stared by cutting my hair dry, then washed my hair painfully hard. When it came to cutting she used a comb so aggressively I thought my scalp and ears were going to bleed. I'm so disappointed with the outcome and wish it had gone better. Then I had to pay for it over text using Apple Cash which just felt weird to me. Overall would not recommend. read more

I just graduated college and moved to CA after accepting a full-time job offer here, so I finally decided that it was time to stop going to Supercuts and get a real haircut. After seeing the rave reviews on Yelp for Avalon Salon, I knew I had to patronize them! I made my appointment with Danny online. I got there ten minutes early so I waited around and read a magazine, but Danny was ready to go right at 2! After talking about the cut, he washed my hair and then proceeded to give me the best hair cut I've gotten in my mere 22 years of life. As he said so eloquently during the haircut, "this definitely isn't Supercuts, right?" He was right. Even while having an awesome conversation with him, he paid great attention to my hair. Danny is the stylist I had today. As someone who has had horrible experiences at salons and just moving from NorCal, I was so scared. My hair was super fragile from coming off depression medicine and he listened to my concerns. Not only did he tell me what I originally wanted would not good be good for my hair but gave me a option that was less money but better for me. He isn't out for your money. He trimmed the dead hair and touched up my roots without effecting my current highlights, he also taught me how to blow dry my hair because of the condition it was in. So I took a week to marinate on this as I don't want to be unfair, but I went in for a trim and ended up with a choppy cut and he took probably three to four inches off. I told him light layering was ok, just not too much because I don't want to thin out my already thin/fine hair. So, it sucks growing out your hair for so long to have someone take so much off and then on top of that put layers in that have little to no blending. He then framed my face with a very short layer at about my chin without asking. When he made the cut I couldn't believe it, but I thought, overall if it's blended maybe it'll be ok. He used very high heat on the blow dryer directly on my hair to straighten it so it appeared longer than it was when he finished. Of course I realized later this super short front layer didn't blend and that I can no longer wash and go. I have frizzy hair as well so when the layers have that much separation it looks terrible. If i were to get it fixed, the hair length would have to be cut even more to blend and I don't want any more length cut off. To top it off he charged me ten dollars more than their prices show on their website and I did tip. I will always tip service workers. He was rough on my hair, used cold water to wash it, splashed it in my eyes, and was just overall sloppy. The salon is run down. I'm not sure why all these great reviews. Maybe he's good with thick hair, but not fine/thin hair or he would know how to do subtle layers and communicate better regarding how much he's going to cut off. It will take me a year to begin to grow out the shortest layer. I feel like I went to Supercuts only i paid twice the price. read more
