Didn't know what to eat so we just walked to the end of the pier and saw this place! I do like fish and chips so why not? The place has a nice view of the docked boats on one side and people fishing at the very end. It doesn't get that disgusting fishy smell though. What we got: Peach Slushee ($3): there was a choice of this or limeade. The peach slushee was pretty good. You could taste the peach and it wasn't too icy or watery. Combo #1 ($15): comes with 2 pieces of fish, 2 pieces of calamari, 2 pieces of shrimp, and 2 pieces of scallops. It also comes with choice of fries, rice, or coleslaw and a side of cocktail sauce and tartar sauce. Fish was nice and flaky. Calamari wasn't chewy and was flavorful. Shrimp was good, but nothing special about it. Scallop was good, but it was too hot to bite in half and the breading fell off pretty easily. But overall, everything was pretty good! Service: Guy taking our order was pretty nice and patient because I couldn't decide what to get. The food comes out pretty quick too. read more

The green pier has always been our favorite walk about when we are in Avalon. One reason we enjoy the pier is because you really get beautiful views of the bay and the Casino. But another reason is that you will clearly see the sandy bottom and if you're lucky you see lots of fish. And if fish is what you want for a snack, then stop and order the Avalon Seafood specials. We have had their fish and chips, the calamari and the clam chowders. But funny how you remember of days gone by when all that tasted so good, and now it seem so different....is it the oil, the difference in fries, perhaps frozen fish and not fresh?? Anyhow, the selections are plenty, but it just wasn't as what we remembered. We had our snack at the Fish and Chips place on the green pier and can mark that off our itinerary list. read more

We had Fish and chips and combo # 2 . Fish was fresh and taste great. The credit card machine was broken and we have to get cash to pay. I think some do this when they need cash and avoid credit card fees. I don't know about here they look nice, decent people. Food is expensive here price fish chip $11 and combo that has 3 fish strips and 2 shrimp was $12.50. Also $ 1 for refill of drinks. Why is that ? after paying so much again $1 for refills . It's lunchtime, you're looking down the pier, you're hungry. Definitely, absolutely, positively, SKIP Eric's on the PIer and head straight for here. Their buffalo burgers are big and juicy and actually have good toppings, unlike the dry, simple hockey pucks they serve at Eric's. I also had a fried shrimp taco, which was lovely, but spilled salsa on my pants. A small price to pay for good food. Had to dock it a star because the service was a little off. I do not understand why not one has Yelped on this joint. This joint is past Eric's towards the end of the pier. It's been there since I can remember. They serve nothing but fish and chips and cold Coca Cola. You eat these white moist fishy meat al fresco looking out parked pleasure crafts. You wanna know how goot their fish is? I'd cross the channel just to eat fish and chips, now, that is what I call worth the trip. $9.50 including Coca Cola excluding the ferry boat ride and the parking at Long Beach. And that is how goot their fish and chips are. Before I leave back to mainland, I get another fish and chips. More fish than chips. My boyfriend and I ordered the calamari sandwich and the clam chowder bread bowl to share. The clam chowder tasted okay but was lukewarm. If I'm ordering soup, I'd kind of expect it to be hot. The calamari sandwich was tiny and had three little pieces of calamari in it and didn't taste fresh at all -- like they came out of a freezer. Came here for lunch after a hike through the Nature Conservancy. We got two food items: Combo #1 - 2 pieces each, of fish, calamari, shrimp, and scallops, served with french fries - The shrimp was cooked perfectly, and really well seasoned. - The calamari was our least favorite, a little chewy, and sliced open into a fillet instead of rings - The breading on everything else was fine, but nothing spectacular Cheeseburger - thin patty, cooked well-done, onions, tomato, lettuce, and tons of tartar sauce on both top & bottom bun - The burger was fine, but nothing to write home about. I scraped some of the tartar sauce off, after mixing it with ketchup to create my own makeshift Thousand Island dressing. This review is totally bias, so don't hold it against me. My gf and I went to Catalina Island on couple of weeks ago on a hot summer day. When we first arrived (around 10 a.m.) we felt like to have a snack and scout the place where we reserved our snorkeling tour. This place happened to be at the center of the pier and right next to the snorkeling shop so we decided to just get some food there. As we was standing in the front trying to decide what to get, my girl friend pulled my shirt and whispered something to me..........Then i realized, %^&*, are you shitting me? There are in the middle of replacing their menu and putting on a new one with different price!!!!! Of course we did what any other people would do, we find out how much was the increase......a fish and chips combo - from $12.50 to $15.00. Oh, only a $2.50 increase, not that much.........NOT!!! Being a cheap ass, I took my girlfriend and just turn around and left. I don't want to be thinking about the extra $2.50 during the entire trip (tho it's only a day long). I guess it's better for them to change their menu at 10 in the morning and lose 2 customers than change it at 12 noon and lose maybe 20. (We took a picture of the menu changing, but it's in my gf's camera) PS. We walked only a few yards back toward the street and got a fish and chips plate (not combo) at Eric's for about half and price and we loved it!! It is insulting that a place charges $8.50 for the tiniest piece of swordfish on their sandwich that I have ever seen. I really don't know how you can slice a piece of fish that thin.
