I've lived in the Springfield area too long to be just now trying Avanzare. This place exceeded my expectations. We were able to walk in on a Monday evening at peak dinner hour. Feels like you are walking into a nice hotel. Very clean and inviting. Everyone who served us was friendly and attentive, especially to refilling our waters. I ordered a dish that had homemade noodles, Yaya's pasta, and it was decadent. Probably in my top ten dishes! A creamy vodka sauce with tons of shrimp, salmon, and mushrooms. Loved the bed of zucchini strings on the top. I enjoyed every bite and even had enough for a take home box. Husband really enjoyed his steak dinner. Cooked perfectly and very tender and flavorful. He chose sides of mashed potatoes and seasonal veggies. The homemade breads and pesto butter are perfection. read more

Well the service was excellent considering we had a party of 12. It was very loud in there. The food overpriced and meh. I got the crab cake special that was swimming in a very spicy sauce and I like spicy. It had a little side salad of greens. I ordered the spinach and green salad with beets, gorgonzola, and candied pecans. Now I love gorgonzola and what I paid for the salad I expected a lot more than a few sprinkles of it. I did ask for extra and was mot charged for it. There are better places to eat in Springfield. read more

Well prepared and presented. While the lineage of northern Italian cuisine was referenced repeatedly it is definitely an American Italian cuisine with a Midwest sweetness to the red sauce. What a great find! This restaurant is definitely a bit tucked away, but even on a Wednesday night super packed! Ordered the Chef's Special Lasagna - wish it was a little more temperature hot but the flavor was yum!! Loved the free bread too - focaccia with pesto butter!! Because the restaurant was so busy, it was a bit on the noisy side / but that's definitely a sign of good business. Waiters were super polite and helpful in deciding what to order. I recently had dinner here for a business meeting and was impressed with the experience. The food was great, the service was top notch and the overall ambiance of the restaurant is very fitting for a higher end Italian restaurant. I started with a Caesar salad, with fresh crisp romaine, a perfectly light Caesar dressing and freshly greased Parmesan cheese. For my entree I had the Chicken Masala, the wine and mushroom was decadent and one of the best over a juicy tender chicken breast and perfectly made mashed potatoes. This was all washed down with a Negroni Bianco. Overall it was a tasty meal in a great setting with excellent service. I'd check them out again for sure. read more

Avanzare: Underwhelming & Unimpressive. Yes, people go here and act like it's all that. But too, we're in Spfd Mo...and people think Olive Garden is some great Italian meal. lol...come on...lol. If this is what Avanzare is, after moving into their new building...I can assure you...I will (not) darken the door again. Calamari: no seasoning on the fry and tasted mostly like flour. Calamari delivered to the table fairly ice cold...and it's a fried dish. $14 Filet: An ok cut of beef. But...not seasoned hardly at all. Whole sage leaves atop the steak...stems and all to pick off. The new potatoes tasted way way earthy....and only about 1/2 way cooked. The asparagus was of a good quality...but not seasoned much. Price: $52 I believe. Ribeye: again, a decent enough cut of beef. Failed in fully executing on a great flavor profile. Gorgonzola cheese topper was good. $46 Oh, the service or attention to detail: Orders (2) salads in the table. Did we ever receive? Nope. Notta. And the place wasn't even that busy on this night. You want a good Italian place for Spfd?: Bruno's downtown. Nicola's on the east side. Either one of these places...dwarfs this new rendition of Avanzare. 3 stars is a gift rating for this place and tonight's performance. read more

I wish I could give 10 stars for this restaurant. The place was a little dark on the outside but nice you walk inside it is very nice. We were greeted at the entrance. I was little concerned if we would be seated because it was close to closing time. We sat in the bar area and Dawn served us. She was so friendly and knowledgeable. They make homemade bread everyday and the Cesar salad is a must to order. We ordered linguine with shrimp and mushrooms, it was so good. I also order a side of pasta with red sauce. Blew through Springfield again and decided we wanted Italian, so we went here. We went on a Friday night we had a reservation....the last one available! So yep they are busy. I didn't bring "nice clothes" on this trip, my clothes were clean and respectful so it was fine. I would say this place is business casual. Drinks were great while we waited for our table (they were running behind and actually needed to set up a "party" room with tables to accommodate everyone. We finally sat down and ordered some aps. We got the Bruschetta...I don't like tomatoes but the hubby and Son do so I just brushed off the tomatoes and you know what, the actual bread was really tasty! We also got the crab stuffed ravioli (pretty good). We ordered our food....i ordered the house special Lasagna and I got a side salad. My hubby got the ribeye ordered medium rare and Son got a pasta dish with Salmon in it. So my Son and hubby were served before me....i waited and waited and waited...mean time my hubby cut into the steak and it was "WELL DONE". So when my entree was delivered the waiter didn't even ask...he saw the steak was not done correctly and he asked my hubby if it was ok if he take the steak because obviously it wasn't right he could see it from the table....he took the steak and delivered it backed before my Son and my entree were finished so that was good! I liked my Lasagne but I wouldn't say it was the best I have had but it was "good" and my house salad fit the bill. My Hubby cut into the steak with the waiter there to watch and it was cooked perfectly. Hubby thought it was again (pretty good!), my Son had inhaled his entree and he really enjoyed his. The wait staff is super friendly and accommodating, parking was great, mixed group of diners were there. I would say if you want satisfying food (not necessarily Italian because well I'm Italian and lived in Chicago, so it's kinda not fair for me to judge I guess) go here. You will be satisfied and if you are not Italian nor from Chicago....I think you will really like it. So this place is a keeper for us...now we have 2 places in Springfield to eat at out of a sea of locally owned restaurants (who knew Springfield MO is kind of a local restaurant Mecca) soo many more trips back and forth to Chicago from Texas resting over night is Springfield and I can't wait to keep trying these local spots! Don't pass Springfield by on a road trip...check it out, and bet you will like the destination too! As for this restaurant you should try it out! It's great food in general and a really nice place to eat after being on the road or 7 hours and you just want some home cooking that will satiate you until you pass out in your hotel before you hit the road again!!!! The restaurant is loud, we were seated in the back room with a TV and it was nice and not so loud! Started with complimentary bread with pesto or butter and oil in the table. Solid start. The bruschetta was very good. Bright, fresh, refreshing. I had the rigatoni minus the chili flakes. Rigatoni was good, not the best ever, perhaps due to not having the chili flakes. Well made. Fresh ingredients. The flavor was solid but nothing stood out. I kept the leftovers and it made for a nice lunch the next day. Good portion sizes. It was a nice meal, if looking for Italian in the area, had a good variety of options, especially if one doesn't eat pasta. read more

Always 5 Star but tonight they took our orders of Lasagnas saying after we specifically ask are you sure you have enough as they make this special and said "OH YEAH WE HAVE COPIUS AMOUNTS" and yet they come back 20 minutes later and say "you're not gonna believe this" with a fake smile on their face "we ran out and only have the one serving!" Loved it! We had wine, salads, entrees, and dessert. Everything was a treat from start to finish. Our server was calm and collected and provided excellent service the entire time. I had the Rigatoni Alla Tony and my date had the steak tips special -- both were delicious. The steak was absolutely melt in your mouth perfection. Popped into this establishment's new location on Fremont and we were not disappointed. Unfortunately did not get a picture of the caprese salad (allowed to order half salads which I love) or the bread (probably because it was so good we ate it too fast). Despite not having meatballs, Avanzare delivered an awesome dining experience. The rib eye (cut by Chef Tony) was perfectly cooked and delectable. I don't say that often about steak. But this was primo steak. Since the drinks were flowing, I skipped the dessert. Startling, this restaurant is located in a strip mall between a dispensary and novelty store for an amorous night in. Our dream of a fine dining Italian Restaurant in the Ozarks has been fulfilled. We just finished our 38th Anniversary dinner this evening and we're now wondering why we hadn't been there before today. To say we were impressed is the understatement of the year. Our entire experience was over the top excellent. The restaurant is elegantly decorated with ample room to navigate even during crowded times. The lighting and music provided an atmosphere that allowed both intimate conversations between couples and large groups. The wait staff were all both professional and personable. Josie, our server, was a delight and provided today's list of delicious specials. We started with the Crabcake for the antipasta. The portion was very generous and it was so good we cleaned the plate. For the main course we chose the Filetto Al Porcini and the Bistecca Rosemarino. Both were very generous portions and cooked to perfection. The steaks and the accompanying side dishes were so flavorful that we forced ourselves to save room for dessert. Ahh dessert... it was a apple/cinnamon on a puff pastry, with creme brulie in the middle. Served with a scoop of cinnamon vanilla ice-cream. We were scaping the plate to get every last part. It was that good. Yum. All during and after dinner we continued to laud how much we loved this restaurant, the food and the service. 5 stars all around. read more

My understanding is that the owners of the restaurant are going to soon be changing locations. This restaurant is in the middle of a strip mall. I went with a party of 4, we had a reservation and were promptly seated. The restaurant was very very loud. This is likely just because there were a lot of people in a small space. It made it hard to hear conversation at our table. So overall atmosphere was 3 stars. Service was top notch my drink was never empty and the waiter gave great advice on menu selections. 5 stars for service. As a fair disclaimer I'm not a huge fan of Italian that being said the lobster ravioli and tortellini prosciutto were crazy good. The portions very fair. Price was a touch high.
