What bothered me most wasn't just being told they were out of bread--it was the lack of acknowledgment, the rude interaction, and being denied service while the restaurant was still open. After I left, I called the store and tried placing an order over the phone. This time, I was told it would take about 15 minutes to make more bread. I said that was fine, but then the employee stumbled over his words and quickly changed it to, "I'm sorry, I mean an hour." The inconsistent explanations only reinforced my impression that they simply didn't want to serve another customer before closing. If making sandwiches 20 minutes before closing is an inconvenience, then perhaps this isn't the right job for that employee.
