Uptown Bistro & Bakery is a relatively new restaurant in Myrtle beach that's open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They are located in the Seventieth Avenue North Shopping Center on N Kings Highway. My sister raved about this place's happy hour, so I had to see what the hype was all about! I tried the fried calamari, meatballs marinara, margarita flatbread, and a trio of skewers: salmon, steak, and cod. Everything was delicious and all under $10! Our server, Jac, was outstanding! She was friendly, attentive, and incredibly accommodating. She even made sangria from scratch for my mom. Truly one of the best servers I've ever had. Uptown Bistro has indoor and outdoor seating. Pickup is available, but there is no delivery. Happy hour is every day from 4PM - 6PM. Met our cousins for breakfast! We were seated towards the back at a nice round table. It was perfect for the 6 of us to be able to see and talk with everyone. Our waiter, (a German name that I can't pronounce), was awesome. He took great care of us and checked back often to see if we needed refills on drinks or anything else. Our food was delicious. We really wanted to like it ! Every time we pass by we say how awesome that place looked and that it might be pretty good! It was pretty bad my husband got steak and eggs and I got avocado toast please see the pictures of the "6 oz ribeye", the avocado toast had 3 mini slices . Service was alright not bad not awesome just mid. They definitely put heart and soul into making this place look nice which they did. The food is the only thing that needs to be better. Food,ok quantity poor, bland at best. I ordered potato skins it consisted of (1) count them (1) skin. Menu said skins not skin. Service slow for happy hour, the bartender did not know how to make the drinks, he checked the menu to see what to do to make the drink. The place is new and nice I wanted to like it ,but on a scale of one to ten it was or is a solid 3. I am not sure about the main menu but I for one was disappointed. I really wanted to like this place. Clean, nice music and beautiful ambience and friendly staff. I would give this a second chance but with a smaller party, 2-4 people. We went here the other night as a party of 9 and service seemed slow, but friendly. My husband asked at least four times for the price of a specific liquor before getting a response, no one seemed to know. Food was slow to come to the table. I ordered the chicken fettuccine Alfredo, no real wow factor and actually seemed to lack sauce. Bread was only refilled once at the table. The reason I'm giving it a second chance is because I'm hoping the larger party threw their game off. We are parents to three kids and lucky to go out 4-6 times a year, this being one of the times with friends, I can't say there was any wow factor that would be driving me back in a hurry. Maybe you will have better luck...until next time...but it will be a few months! read more

Waiter was supposed to bring bread, but said they were out of butter. 5. Bread came eventually, but was tiny. (More came a half hour later). 6. The waiter complained that he had 5 tables 7. We asked for the manager, but he never came over. 8. We got salads and soups after a long while. They were ok, but he forgot mine and one other. When the waiter checked on us I had already shared my wife's salad. 9. Eventually we got 3 of the 4 entrees. The 4th came about 5 minutes later 10. The entrees were tremendous. 11. The atmosphere was weird... somebody seemed to be playing Spanish guitar. Had reservations on Saturday at 5PM. Restaurant was basically empty with just a few tables with customers. Server was sweet just never around and slow - had to ask another server to find her to get the bill. Food is pricey for what you get. Decent quality but not for the prices they charge. Once we got our bill, server said they were expecting a 100 person event and they were in the back getting bread and salads ready. Fantastic Food, Shockingly Horrific Management We arrived on time for our reservation right when the restaurant opened, expecting a great evening. Unfortunately, what unfolded was one of the most unprofessional dining experiences I've ever had. It took two full hours for us to receive our food. During that time, we watched multiple tables who arrived after us get seated, order, eat, and leave before we were ever served. Even the table next to us--who had a reservation an hour later--received their meals before we did, though they had to repeatedly ask just to get their drinks. When we finally raised concerns about the delay, the manager initially told us they would "take care of the bill." We appreciated the gesture and assumed the situation was being handled. But when he returned, he didn't come back to speak with us -- instead, the police walked in. We were stunned. At no point did we refuse to pay, yet the manager had called the authorities anyway and never came back out to address us directly. Thankfully, the group seated next to us stayed to make sure everything was okay, and the officers who arrived were incredibly kind and professional. In the end, we were offered a percentage off the meal. The saddest part of all this is that the food was genuinely fantastic. But the management? Absolutely unacceptable. And based on what we heard from others and what I've since read, this wasn't an isolated incident. As a business owner myself, this experience was a powerful reminder that customer experience is essential. Great food can't make up for leadership that treats guests with disrespect. read more

6/22/25: Enjoyed an after-church breakfast of Cinnamon Roll French Toast and crispy bacon (about 5 strips). One French toast was smothered with plump blueberries and the other with freshly sliced strawberries. Both pieces were thick, moist, and delicious. We asked to sit out on their comfortable covered patio which has lots of sunlight through windowed retractable panels, ceiling fans, air conditioning, two large TVs, and a bar. Server Chanelle provided fabulous, friendly service. A disc jockey played nice music as we dined. Spacious interior with booths and tables AND an outdoor deck (with umbrellas) over a pond. Easily a five-starexperience based on the food, the service, and the ambiance. The food was very good. The girl was new but she was polite and helpful enough. The rest of the staff were equally polite and helpful. Loved the ambiance which was seemed wide open with I believe the kitchen in the middle of the restaurant. They also had plenty of parking and a band set up with a baby grand! Very cool. They are open for dinner as well as breakfast and lunch. Didn't try the bakery this trip but everything in the display looked delicious so will definitely have to visit again for that. read more

My wife and I chose Uptown Bistro tonight to celebrate her birthday after nine months of pregnancy, hoping for a special and memorable dinner. Unfortunately, the experience fell well short of expectations. We had a 7:30 PM reservation and arrived a little early. Upon entering, we immediately noticed how empty the restaurant was. Normally that would make us second-guess our choice, but since the restaurant is new, we decided to give it a chance. After being seated, we realized we were essentially the only party dining. Our server was the highlight of the evening--prompt, enthusiastic, attentive, and genuinely great at her job. She set a very positive tone at the start of the meal. We ordered two cocktails (the Matador and the Paloma), both of which were very good. For appetizers, we had the Caesar salad, beef carpaccio, and Chilean sea bass. The Caesar salad, while simple, was delicious. The Chilean sea bass had good flavor but arrived lukewarm. Unfortunately, the beef carpaccio was not good at all and had a very off-putting taste. For entrées, we ordered the gnocchi bolognese and a filet mignon cooked medium for my wife. Timing-wise, the entrées came out quickly and appropriately. The gnocchi was fine but light on flavor and not particularly memorable. The filet, however, was a major disappointment--it came out blue. Not medium, not medium rare, not even rare, but clearly undercooked. We informed our server, who immediately said she would notify the manager. She offered to send the steak back, but at that point we decided we would rather just pay and move on to another restaurant. The server continued to do an excellent job and even upsold us the blueberry cheesecake, which was very good. Given the price point of this restaurant and how new it is, we fully expected a manager to at least come by to acknowledge the issue or ask about our experience. That never happened. We were simply given the check, paid, and left. We've eaten at many of the best restaurants Myrtle Beach has to offer. Uptown Bistro has great potential, especially given its location, but in its current state I cannot recommend it or see myself returning. The best part of our entire experience was our server. read more

We came in after nine holes of golf, and when we walked in, we felt immediately underdressed. However, the hostess was lovely and assured us that it was fine. Still, we went and sat at the bar. They had my favorite gin, gray whale. I started with the French onion soup, and it was possibly the best I have ever had. I had a delicious salad. I highly recommend the steak tips They were perfectly cooked. My husband had the seafood linguine. There was a tremendous amount of seafood in the dish and the garlic butter sauce was amazing. Never got the opportunity to try the food but with a welcome that was rude and quite honestly a turnoff, I'll never be back. Arrived at roughly 3:30pm to enjoy a happy Hour (advertised to run from 3pm-6pm). greeting consisted of a snarky, "Happy Hour don't start til 4!" No explanation, no offer of accommodation, no attempt of customer service. Just a rude individual that clearly had no concern with our patronage. In a city that survives of tourist dollars, I don't see this place surviving and certainly won't if they rely on me. read more

Once food was ordered, it took over 45 min to get it and then it was cold and horrible. The manager was an absolute nightmare, no reasoning with her. This place will not last long at this pace. Too bad, another Myrtle Beach restaurant that looks good on the outside but an absolute failure on the inside. They put a lot of lipstick on this pig! While the ambiance was beautiful, the food and service were abysmal. * The strawberry mojitos, highlighted on the cocktail menu, were made with artificial syrup, making them overly sweet. * Our drinks went unattended for over 30 minutes. * The bread was hard and dry. * The French onion soup was so salty it was inedible--and it was served without a spoon, requiring us to flag down a random waiter (which took five minutes). * The wedge salad was warm, clearly having sat out too long. * Our server had no personality, was absent most of the time, and showed no interest in ensuring a good experience. * It took 1 hour and 40 minutes for our meals to arrive--and when they finally did, it was a disaster. Among the four of us: * A filet mignon, ordered medium, was cold and raw in the middle, served with mashed potatoes instead of the requested baked potato--without any explanation. * A bone-in ribeye arrived without the bone, was paper-thin, and looked like something from a frozen dinner. * A chopped salad and baked potato were instead a garden salad and mashed potatoes. The waitress dropped them at the table and without apology stated they were out of baked potatoes--(at a steakhouse with five-star pricing!) so substituted mashed potatoes without asking the guest. When questioned about the salad, she insisted it was the chopped salad, until we pulled up the menu and pointed out the difference. When it came back, the missing ingredients were added, but it was certainly not "chopped." * A penne dish with grilled chicken arrived with undercooked, pink chicken--a serious food safety risk. None of us took a single bite of our meals. After repeatedly asking for a manager, we were ignored until one of us had to track her down. When she finally came over, she showed zero concern and told us we could leave--rather than making any effort to fix the situation. For a restaurant that clearly had a significant investment put into it, the lack of quality, service, and accountability is shocking. These aren't just typical "new restaurant" growing pains--they're fundamental failures. If they don't make serious changes, I don't see this place lasting long. Save your money and go elsewhere until they figure things out--if they even care to. read more
