I will type the intro to this company. This company does not advertise to the amount I like them to do. The products are excellent. And when I buy its a plus when the store is doing something worth while. "Avatar. Jamuna Chaudhary, Dang Nepal. Jamuna, age 20 is one of the many women artisans producing Avatar Products in Nepal. At age 12 she was sold into domestic slaver through a system of bonded labor known as Kamalari.......Over 35 women have been rescued and now are integral part of the production of Avatar products." Now people, don't that make you feel better when you spend your hard earned money knowing you are helping these women? And do not be fooled, this domestic slavery entailed no doubt sexual abuse and all forms of abuse. Happens all the time with these types of operations. So please do support this businesses endeavor to help women be free from such exploitation. And even at this moment I am wearing the leggings I bought there 15 or so years back, and still in fine shape; so they make excellent cloths and to boot pretty looking, soft feeling and also helping women be independent, oh yeah, I can get behind this shop and support em. read more

I love this place! I came here with my kids and some of their clothing that was on display intrigued me so I walked in. At first I thought it would be so bougie overpriced clothing, but not at all! Their clothes are so unique and reasonable priced. Clothing is super unique. It isn't your average genie flow pants. I would never wear pants like that, but I ended up walking out with a pair of pants and they looked great! I also found out that they design and make their own clothes for a great cause. This place is definitely underrated, and need to get more exposure. The quality and the design is well fitting and great. I highly recommend you check this place out! read more

Super cute clothing store with fun finds! They have reasonably priced jewelry, flowing hippy finds that echo India, and little gifts like cute socks and bags. The best little fun find? If you have ever been to the Big Island of Hawaii and came across a local, handmade soap from a brand named filthyfarmgirl.com - you'll be excited to know those little sassy branded soaps are at Avatar Imports! They are the perfect little stocking stuffers. With clever puns as names for their different soap scents, it is a naughty but nice addition to any Christmas gift! I have used the soaps, and not only are they cute, but they are made with great quality ingredients. They are a good quality soap. I left the Avatar Imports with a pair of socks for a friend, that was pale blue. The sock graphics had rain on them, and what reminded you of the Morton Salt girl with her umbrella. On the bottom of the sock, the "Morton Salt girl" has fallen down in the rain and the wind had upturned her umbrella. Next to this says, "F^&% this Sh!#" Ahahahaha. Perfect. I had to get them, and the early Christmas present for my lovely friend was so appreciated. We also got a huge laugh. Because life needs a little laughter more times than not. read more

I like that this store has fair trade/organic/hemp clothing that is also cute and flattering. It can be hard to find stuff like that (especially at a resonable price!) I own two dresses and a few bags that I've bought here, and I use all of these things frequently. I also like the girl that works there. She's always been very friendly every time I've gone in. Love browsing through this store, and I've found killer deals in the sale trunk. An awesome -everyday- kind of black top with an empire waist that can easily be glammed out for a night out, and a great little skirt that's perfect as is or paired with leggings for colder nights. My bf insisted on a unique style dress from there that I feel comfy-but plain in, he loves it and raves about how I look so I don't complain. I *have* to get a wrap skirt from there every season - I love my summer skirt, perfect for the beach, a warm night etc, and I feel really goddamn classy wearing it too. Ditto for the winter one I bought (first mainly-pink article of clothing I willingly purchased) but it's heavier for those colder nights/days. The cut of the skirts is great for a big-booty gal, and walking around in it makes me feel like a queen. The multi-colored stripes pair well with pretty much anything, and the handmade quality is damn hard to find. Bought an interesting wrap-styled jacket from there that I don't wear enough because of a bum-button. My bad for not checking that before I bought it, and I'm too forgetful to replace it myself. Other than the button, though, it's a killer jacket (thick too so it keeps me nice n warm on night-beach outings) and I haven't seen anyone wearing a similar style, something I dig. Only thing that doesn't get them a fifth star? Hours. They close at like 5 or 6pm most days, and I rarely have the chance to make it down before they close up. Probably a good thing, because I'd spend my paycheck there if I could. The service is also super friendly, really nice and willing to sit and chat (not just cuz they want your money, they just like to talk!). There's occasionally a little dog there too, which is awesome! Just chills behind the counter in a little bed and doesn't make noise, but it's just nice (for me) to have a little bit of 'home' in a downtown store. The atmosphere in the shop is reflective of why I adore Santa Cruz so much. I bought a skirt and dress there recently. The young lady was helpful and when I was close to putting one of the items back she rounded down a couple dollars to make my total even. Not a huge amount but enough to show good customer service. I don't know about the store itself, but I ordered a coat online. When I got it, it was a compleatly different color then the picture showed. On top of that, the descriptions for the clothes are any but descriptive. I tried to call several times only to recieve a voice mail. No one ever returned my calls. I even sent an email, and have yet to hear from them (3 weeks later) I wouldn't give them a single star at all, but you have to at least do one. Terrible customer service, I will never shop her again...there are other concious stores out there that are WAY better. read more
