Absolutely OBSESSED with my haircut from Aveda Belle Isle!! The salon is located in the Irvine Spectrum Center, a prime location. There's free parking and plenty of shops and restaurants to explore after you get your hair done, it truly makes the whole experience feel like a self-care day. Now let's get into the cut... I LOVEEED it. I showed my stylist Sarah a photo and she nailed it. I left with exactly what I wanted, down to the smallest detail. The store manager was incredibly friendly and made me feel so taken care of, checking in on me several times throughout my appointment, which made the experience feel really personal. Horrible experience today at Aveda Bella Isle Salon in Irvine. I was denied service because I arrived with my service dog. The receptionist immediately told me my dog was "not a service dog" and stated that paperwork "doesn't mean anything," and I was told I would need to leave my dog outside if I wanted my appointment. My dog was calm, well-behaved, and remained quietly by my side the entire time. I attempted to showed them his certification that he is a trained service animal and provide relevant information, but the situation was not handled appropriately. One stylist did apologize, but by that point the experience was already uncomfortable enough that I chose to leave. This felt like discrimination and a complete lack of understanding of service animal rights. I have reported the incident to ADA and will call them as well, I just hope the salon properly trains staff to handle these situations correctly in the future. I went in today at 1 PM for with the same stylist, Sara is for a color correction. It was extremely disappointing! From the start, I felt rushed and unwelcome. While I was trying to decide on the correction color, Sara told me to "make it fast" because she had another client in 30 minutes. The entire process felt rushed and careless. She detangled my hair so roughly that it was painful. If she was in a hurry to leave, the professional thing to do would have been to reschedule, not rush through and compromise the service quality. To make matters worse, when I got home, I found color still deposited on my ear, clearly not cleaned off properly. It just felt like she wanted to finish up and get me out as fast as possible. She didn't even offer a mirror to show me the back of my hair which is something that's standard in any professional salon visit. The whole experience made me feel like I was a burden for coming back to fix a job that shouldn't have gone wrong in the first place. If you don't want clients to return for corrections, then perhaps do the color right the first time or treat them with courtesy when they do. Sara- I hope you reflect on how you treat clients! I've come here for a few years. People are nice-offer you water and tea. The atmosphere is very pleasant. I've come away very satisfied many times. I went in the other day for a cut and partial highlights. I went to a stylist I trusted and said what I always say, I want my hair to look healthy and natural-I come to Aveda intentionally after all. I asked to cut off the split ends and fix the roots on my highlights....just follow what's there. The cut is fine. The stylist asked to do full highlights. I thought that was to help fix the roots. It didn't fix the roots but did increase the price. She also asked to put extra highlights at the front of my face to "lighten it up". Well, it doesn't look natural that is for sure. Maybe she is right and it looks good, but it's not what I asked for and I have the feeling it was all up-selling. I was sufficiently upset with my hair that instead of going back to the office I called into a meeting on zoom with the camera off because I didn't want my colleagues to see. I've waited hoping I was overreacting and it would grow on me - but 3 days later I still get very upset every time I pass a mirror. Putting my hair up doesn't help because then there are these yellow (almost white) streaks down the sides of my head that stick out. If anyone is reading this, I would actually appreciate advice. I paid $440. Going to a new place with someone I don't know and re-spending the time and money doesn't seem like a good idea. i don't want to hurt the stylist but I also don't want to go back to her. I got in quickly on Sunday morning, called ahead to check for availability, and was in the chair within a half hour! My stylist, Jess, was friendly and looked at the pictures I brought in and gave great feedback to let me know she understood the look I wanted and that I like my hair to be low maintenance! She did a great job and achieved the desired effect with my cut and highlights! It was a birthday present to myself to go to Aveda, whereas I normally go to a certain chain haircutter place, which had recently disappointed me with the haircut I got. Aveda is a brand I'm familiar and comfortable with so it feels good to treat myself and visit this salon. My wife came in for a $169 Yelp deal but ended up paying $245. My wife is very happy with the service but the Manager Sahara stated that she was unaware of a Yelp deal and it was not going to honor the Yelp ad. I came back to the store a day later to help resolve the issue and the manager stated that they were not honoring the Yelp deal and in the process of removing the Yelp deal but my concern is why the manager is unaware of the deal. The manager did offer to accept returning of the product purchased that day as a convenience because apparently it was not disclosed verbally but stamped on the receipt that there are NO REFUNDS OR EXCHANGES. My wife didn't see the receipt until she got home. Pretty "stealth" for the salon in stamping the receipt and do that without disclosing this to my wife. Unfortunately the person losing in this is us because product was returned. Overall my wife overpaid for a service by $76, Returned product she actually wanted, and overall both of us feeling cheated. Lessons to learn from this experience: 1 - Make sure that salon is honoring advertising deals that retail store has responsibility and accountability when attracting customers to come in based on the advertising. 2 - Make manager understand that Yelp doesn't falsely advertise deals without stores knowledge as Yelp and business in question have engaged and exchanged transactions financially to benefit advertised business. 3 - Making false assumption that any Manager is well knowledgeable of how repeat business works because if a customer isn't happy, it will impact business signficantly in the short and long term. 4 - DO NOT DEAL WITH AN AVEDA FRANCHISE LOCATION as this one is not affiliated with the Corporate locations. Corporate locations handle bad experiences like this better with customers. Sahara did conduct herself with me professionally and believes she is managing in the best interest of her employer but in my opinion, needs more training in business management because the LACK of business acumen is apparent as she is hurting the business. DEAR EMPLOYER, please provide more training for her. Please use this post to help you make a decision on dealing with this specific Aveda Franchise location at Irvine Spectrum as you might have the same POOR experience and left feeling you were taken advantage of. I received the worst haircut on Saturday afternoon. The bottom half of my hair is longer and the top is extremely short. There is no gradual layering. The back of my hair used to be about 6-7 inches longer than what it is now. It will take me years to grow the back of my hair. I will have to pay...again...to get my hair fixed. I told my hairdresser that I wanted possibly 2-3 inches cut from my hair. I figured we'd consult after the wash and conditioning. We didn't and she just started cutting. She never once asked me how much I wanted cut and how or if I wanted layers. I had faith that she knew what she was doing so I let her continue cutting. My mistake. Honestly, I was probably in shock after I saw how short she cut the back of my hair that I knew there was no going back. My hair was straight until this afternoon when I washed it for the first time and saw what it really looks like. The layers are unbelievably uneven. I'm mortified. I have extremely curly hair that cannot hide the unevenness. I'm so angry. I would appreciate if someone would contact me so I can get my $128 back. read more

They suggested that because I "wasn't in their system" that perhaps I booked with a different Aveda. Nope. The Aveda Salon I used to go to closed due to Covid & I got a call offering 50% off of regular service if I wanted to try this location. The offer was too good to pass up & I took a chance. Kelly was great, listening to my concerns about hiding random grays by going lighter with highlights. After my cut, I kept my eyes closed until she finished my blow out & when I opened my eyes, I couldn't believe how amazing it looked!!! Of course, I hadn't gotten any routine hair care since April, so my hair was far worse than normal but as you can see, she made my hair beautiful again. So happy with it!!! read more

Not only did they charge me a hefty $350 for the services, but the partial highlight turned out to be a disaster, leaving my hair with three different colors that looked nothing like what I had requested. When I expressed my concerns and asked for a correction, I was shocked to hear that they wanted an additional $150 to fix the mess they had created. This felt like an attempt to squeeze more money out of me, rather than taking responsibility for their mistake. Overall, my experience with Aveda was nothing short of a scam, with subpar results and a lack of customer service. I would strongly advise against trusting them with your hair, as it was a costly and disappointing experience ** edit to reply They are completely lying the partial highlight was only the top of my of my head and it didn't match the bottom at all. A partial highlight is less foils but the entire length of the hair. Who does foils on half of your head??? Also they did not offer to fix it. They only offered to tone and darken it. I have been there for partial highlight and I asked for honey chocolate and mentioned several times I don't want the orangeish in my highlight during my consultation and she said she can make it happen! She bleached all my hair length even half of it didn't have any color or highlight so it turned orange. I said it isn't that we supposed to see and she said OK I will put the toner. She put the toner and I knew it won't work because it will be washed out after first wash! And it did. I called them several time to find a way to fix my hair and they said they can't do nothing!!! The great thing about this salon is that it also doubles as a spa - so if you need a wax, haircut, blow dry - it's all there! I'm from NYC - so prices are much higher and definitely unreasonable. Anyways, I walked in and Stephanie came to me right away - I showed her a picture of what I wanted - pixie cut with undercut and long bangs - and she delivered y'all! Brandy also perfected my face with eyebrow and lip wax - not to mention the soothing music and ambience of the room as well! I would give zero star if I can. BEWARE, these guys are CROOKS. Dishonest and manipulative , not a good way to do business. I was quoted around $250 for both of my daughters. I dropped them off to get their hair done and went to grab a bite to eat. 3.5 hours later it's was all done and they tried to charge me $580. Apparently in my absence they convinced my daughter to get more stuff done without asking my approval. They should not have done that to a minor. In the end they settled on $350 which is still much higher then the original price quote. I think it's shady and manipulative. I WILL NOT ever go back there again. Avoid getting ripped off, Take your business somewhere else. I should've read the yelp reviews before taking my children there today. Lesson learned, if many reviews said they are dishonest then I should've stayed away. I will be reporting this to the better business bureau even they are not BBB accredited business. I checked. Update; My wife received a threatening call from the owner of the salon today. Threatening if I don't pay the remaining $200 in 2 hours " there will be consequences" in his own word. He claimed he called Irvine PD and file a report. Which I also did call the Irvine PD about this matter. Also this message - This is the Aveda Salon, we have contacted the Irvine police department and collecting all videos for them. We just want to inform you that the last person did exactly the same was charged with child endangerment. We just want to make sure to be clear about the consequences before it is too late.- I guess I did not know that taking my child to a salon to get their hair done is a form of child endangerment. Very unprofessional and rude. Soliciting service to a minor without parental consent is illegal. In the end he tried to bully us into paying $580 for an unauthorized service is also illegal. First hair apt since Covid so my longing for some TLC was as long as my roots were. We were having family pictures so I brought my daughter and they were able to get her in as well for a cut and style. The cleanliness of the salon should be mentioned because Covid is having a bigger come back than slouchy boots from the 80s! I witnessed employees constantly wiping surfaces down even product on the shelves. There was not only plexiglass between each station at the hair bowls but between individual cutting stations and everyone wore masks-required for entry. I felt very safe and Covid comfortable. I hadn't been here before so I got whoever they assigned to me. Sara was great. I have dark natural hair that was half colored and grown out so I was dye-ing for some highlights. She did an amazing job. It wasn't an easy task and she was very transparent about the process. That it might take several visits to get back to blonde. She was super nice, conversation was fun and I will definitely see her again. Price- 200 for a full highlight and style plus 40 for tip. My 8 year old daughter saw Devon. She was super sweet I could hear her asking my daughter about her pets and school. She did a great job adding layers to her long hair we only took off a half an inch and then she did the best job curling it-clearly a pro. She didn't really need a haircut but I didn't want to pay 50 bucks for a blowout and get nothing for it-but that was my mistake. They charged me 100 for her hair. This definitely seemed outrageous I would say. Then I added 20 for a tip for Devon. Perhaps they could have said it will be 50 for her cut then another 50 to curl it I believe they charged me for curling her hair in addition to the cut and style. All the high end places I've ever gone to when you get a cut, the style is included and they always ask curls? Or round brush? So this was new for us. That and I'm used to paying 25-30 for her cuts (including style) and I've always taken her to high end salons and they charge me a lot less than a grown up hair cut would be. If this is an attempt to deter kids from coming-it is working. We didn't see any other kids there. All in all it was a really great experience. I did dye my hair to a single color, my hair length is below my neck, they charged me for $170. I asked for dark brown and they dyed my hair to black and now the roots are even darker than the other area. The roots were my own hair color. Now i have two colors, it's a mess. The stylist recommended me to wash my roots a couple of times more than the other area to fixe my hair and normalize the color. Totally disappointing. I called the manager several times after I got my hair done asking them simply to just call me back and let me know what to do but no one ever returned my calls. They charged me $550 for highlights, cut and blow dry. I have never paid this much money and been this disappointed. I called to ask for the price of a blowout and the woman on the phone told me about $40-$50 which aligns with dry bar and some of the Irvine services in the area. As I am going to schedule my appointments I can hear someone next to her telling her that it's going to be more and 65+ dollars. I was a little bit more desperate as I needed the service same day and I sensed that they were trying to take advantage of that. The woman next to her then proceeds to tell her that the 40 to 50 is for very short hair and since my daughter had long hair it was going to be much more. I don't mind spending the money as long as people are upfront but I did feel like it was a very arbitrary number that she was trying to assign me based on my need to get the service done today.
