The manager of tonight, Michael, was the rudest I've ever experienced from any sort of restaurant employee. We placed an online order and picked it up, we got home realizing one pizza hadn't been given to us and the rest of the food was completely cold. I called and Michael answered, didn't apologize once and was beyond rude about it and told me I could come get the pizza if i wanted it. I called back so shocked at how rude to conversation went hoping to talk to the owner who has always been so kind and he responds "well I'm the manager actually and listen what do you want me to do, I'm short one guy and the dude who was supposed to give you the pizza forgot it okay?" Still no apology. Sadly, never going to support this business again thanks to Michael's lack of management/ people skills, I mean shockingly disappointed. read more

My two roommates and I went on a Wednesday night and it was packed! Always a great sign! We waited probably 8 minutes, and then they were able to seat us. We had such a nice waiter and the restaurant had a "family" feel to it.. very welcoming and warm. One of my roommates and I split a pizza with artichoke, mozzarella, mushrooms, onions, and olives. So, first time here and we are definitely going back! Small little unassuming Italian bistro with fabulous food and terrific service. And, not just the pizza, which itself is to die for. Made in a true wood fired pizza oven, which crisps the crust perfectly. The cheese is that gooey, stringy, mozzarella that you crave on a pizza. My mom had double cheese and loved it. Our friend had the eggplant parm and said it was the best she'd ever eaten because they roasted the eggplant. I had chicken parm and it took me back to a family run trattoria in Jacksonville that no longer exists. Food memories! Crispy chicken serves as a base for homemade sauce and melty mozz, all served on a mound of fresh spaghetti. Also, we had zucchini fries that were very crispy and not over done. Delicious! Stopped in to Avellinos for some late night 'za. The pizza itself was everything I could have dreamed of. I had the Polpetta, which is topped with meatballs, cremini mushrooms, and ricotta. Super delicious. And they had one of my favorite beers on tap to boot. Everything was perfect, until... A COCKROACH LANDED ON MY PIZZA. This sucker was one of the giant ones, and it fell from the ceiling directly into my leftover pizza and started eating it. Thankfully I had finished eating, but I had big plans for those leftovers. Being the wuss that I am, of course I freaked out. The poor waitress tried to trap it and kill it. But what was really appalling to me was how I was treated about the whole incident. I asked if they could comp part of my pizza due to the grossness, and the manager's response was "No, you already ate half the pizza." Uhhhh, ok, but I paid for the WHOLE thing and now I can't eat HALF of it! He offered to give me a free beer, but my friend and I were trying to leave (it was after closing time) and the last thing I wanted to do after a close roach encounter was hang out and drink a beer. The manager proceeded to make snide comments within earshot of me, like "I'm not sure how I'm supposed to apologize for a bug flying into your food." Listen, I get it. It's Atlanta, there are big crazy bugs. And they have minds of their own. Even if your restaurant is super clean, they'll probably still find their way in. But DUDE. I took my boyfriend here because his name is also Avellino (LOL). And I did not regret it! The pizza was delicious! The salad portion was large too! The reason why I am giving it 4 stars is because we ordered garlic bread and it came out really burnt. They probably cooked it in their brick oven, but I did not like that I had to peel through the burnt parts to enjoy the garlic bread. It almost felt like I was wasting half the appetizer. If this is a usual thing, they might give their customers cancer because digesting burnt food is REALLY bad for the insides (I ain't a doctor tho). The service was MEH. We walked in and no one really told us what to do until they felt our awkward stares on them. But they did let my little sisters take some pizza dough home which was nice. Came here Saturday evening after hitting the gym. Place is pretty small with half of their available table seating being outside. A little weird, but I guess not an issue when there's nice weather. They do have a fairly large bar that you can sit at. Started with the Arancini which are 3 balls of fried rice with cheese and meat. It's not bad. I would liked to have had the outer crust a little softer but it was tasty. I ordered the S-P-O Pizza as my entree which has mozzarella, spicy italian sausage, roasted red pepper, red onions. All of their Pizzas are 12" in diameter and have a thin crust. I think these can easily be handled by one person, but if you're in a group order a few and share. Overall it was good. Had a little more cheese than what I was expecting, but it wasn't too much. I can't say this place was better than Antico, but it's pretty close. I wouldn't travel across town to get Antico when I have this place half the distance to me. If you're in the area, stop by. I'd try to avoid busy times though as I can see this place getting pretty crowded. read more

My husband and I decided to try a new pizza restaurant close to our home and we absolutely fell in love with this cute boutique pizza restaurant. Natasha and Becka were Amazing and the cozy ambience was perfect for a Thursday night. My husband ordered the lasagna which he loved. I ordered the Maialona Pizza with pepperoni, spicy Italian sausage, hot capicolla, and calabrese peppers. For someone who doesn't eat meat often, the pizza was worth it and full of flavor. I loved that the sausage and other meats were not those huge pieces of meat but crumbles of meat spread throughout the pie which made every tiny bite explode with flavor. The only thing missing on the patio was music but the food was so good that didn't matter. This is our new fav pizza spot; we will be back! read more

GREAT pizza! The ingredients are fresh and tasty and they have delicious speciality pizzas as well as yummy salads, pasta dishes and beer. I really enjoyed the pizza crust - thin and crisp but chewy, just like everyone else has noted. It's really easy to inhale slice after slice because it goes down easy and you keep wanting more, which is a dangerous combo! We enjoyed the SPO and a salad. No complaints about the food. I only wish this place was closer! It's very small inside, though, and I'm not sure how it gets when it's busy. We pulled in on a rainy, cold weekday and there were a lot of people at the bar and at one other table. Some of the looks from the bar patrons were not so nice (dunno if they were locals or what but they weren't exactly welcoming when we stumbled inside, brushing the rain off our shoulders) but the service was good and friendly. You don't get a lot of privacy here but the food more than makes up for it! YUM. read more

Like most have said, pizza is outstanding and reasonable in my opinion. I got the Margherita pizza for $11 and the small Mediterranean (Greek) salad. Both were excellent. Everything was super fresh. The pizzas are standard Napoletana size and I ate the whole thing. Pretty much a personal pizza for if you have an appetite. I didn't think if was noisy as some stated. The crowd is actually a little older (40's) and some families. Ok. Update. I've been 6-7 times now and there's a variety of patrons here! Don't want to sway someone. Also, the place just gets better. Avellino's in Brookhaven does a brisk take out business, so I am reviewing just that aspect here. The pizzas are served extra hot from their wood burning oven, with a crust that is pleasantly crisp and chewy and on the thin side, just to my liking. 6 smallish pieces per pie, so exactly the right amount for two to split without leftovers. We built our own with pepperoni and cappicola. The pepperoni was small in diameter and beautifully crispy on the edges - yay! The cappicola was crumbled crispy bits, not slices as we had expected. It was good but not awesome. The pizza overall though was terrific and fairly priced for a 2 topping med pie at around $14-$15. A great addition to the neighborhood and when you dine in, there is a nice patio as well as a busy bar space. read more

We were excited to try this place and thought it best to go on a weeknight to avoid the crowds but even on a Thursday night we waited almost an hour for a table. Our waitress was just plain awful. Took over 15 min to get our drink orders and she was clearly unhappy to be working that night. The salads we had were well made and fresh and we ordered 3 pizzas along with spaghetti for two of our children. After waiting 25 min most of the food came out but my pizza was missing. I waited to flag down or server but she was MIA not unlike my food. By the time I got anyone to check on my pizza my family was finished eating. When the pizza did come out it was the wrong one. I again waited about 10 more min. before getting my food. I will say the pizza was tasty but not fun to eat with tired children who are ready to go home at the table. The bill came and sticker shock set in. It was over $150 for 3 pizzas, 2 salads, 2 kids spaghetti and meatballs and 4 drinks. (They took my last glass of wine off). Yikes!! Great neighborhood spot in Brookhaven for Italian. Peak hours can be quite busy and over-ran by rug rats, but come after 8 and it's mostly grown-ups. Nice little patio to unwind. Nothing fancy just a great wait staff that never changes and great food at great prices. I've always driven by This place on my way to work and my husband and I finally decided to try it because our other dinner option fell through. Let me tell you... the food is AMAZING.
