This place deserves 3.5 stars. We sought shelter from the cold by bypassing the patio and making a beeline for indoor seating. I was surprised by how small the interior was. It has about 5 tables, one high table, and several seats at the bar. All the tables were taken or reserved so I was happy to sit at the bar and peek into the kitchen to see how the food is prepared. Decided to be bold and try something new... Pizza with anchovies. I cannot hold the saltiness against them because... What can I expect with anchovies and capers as toppings?! Other than that, I like how the pizza is flat and non greasy. I'd be willing to come back to try again with something else. I thought there was a little too much batter with my fried zucchini. I prefer lightly fried. Other than that, ingredients taste fresh! The service is friendly, prompt, attentive, and respectful. I asked for ranch dressing with my fried zucchini but the waitress politely informed me they don't have it as they yet to stick to a traditional pizzeria from home. Enough parking for the number of seats. I didn't have a problem finding a spot but upon leaving and passing the people waiting, I noticed there weren't apparent spots left. read more

This is our neighborhood pizza joint and we have frequented it often with our two young kids and they have usually been super accommodating and helpful. We took our visiting family from out of town here today and had a conflicting experience and one that soured my experience. We entered and asked how long the wait was and was told about 30 min and were told we would need 2 tables since we had 8 people, at that point we were the only party waiting but since we had 4 kids with us we decided to order to go. Shortly after we made the order a table opened up so we decided to take it, again we were the only party waiting. The younger blonde waitress that was helping us was from the get go very rude. She told my 3 yr old to not hold her cup too too tight because it would spill? Like what?! We initially had 6 of us and the kids sitting at the one table, while 2 of us waiting by the bar. About 5 min into us being seated another table opened up so my sister in law asked the young waitress if we could take it. The young waitress told her to take a 2 person hightop. Since our kids were young my sister in law insisted on the second large table so we had enough space to eat, at this point the waitress huffed, rolled her eyes and walked away. Extremely rude. She also failed to bring me the drink I ordered. We ended up eating at both the tables and as soon as we were done cleared up and consolidated to one table since there were now 2 parties that had showed up and were waiting. I will say we had an older blonde waitress with a hat that helped the second half of the meal and she was very kind and helpful, so this saved the experience but the younger waitress was the opposite of courteous. Not sure if it was because we had kids? They were busy and she was stressed? We were not caucasian and everyone else was? Either way poor showing and I won't be returning to eat here, plenty of good family friendly pizza joints around the area. Do better Avellino's! read more

Have been going to Avellino's for years, so this review is long overdue. While parking can be a pain when they are busy, its just such a great restaurant, great pizza and great staff. Unfortunately don't go as much as we used to after having kids, but would highly recommend Avellino's. read more

The restaurant is pretty small but has a very homey and welcoming atmosphere. The servers were really friendly, and from their interactions it seemed like they had a lot of regular, local families dining in on a Friday night. I ordered a Caprina pizza and bruschetta, and they both were warm and tasted very fresh! Although I loved my pizza (I am a huge fan of goat cheese), I was disappointed in their lack of vegetarian or non-pork options. To be fair, I'm not the biggest pizza fan and I can get picky with my meats, but I would say this was one of the best quality pizzas I've ever had! My boyfriend and I came here last weekend for our 2 year anniversary. We chose Avellino's because, well the food is incredible and he told me he loved me the first time when we were having dinner here. We weren't 100% sure what the measures they were taking with COVID so we went in with masks on ready to see what the deal was. The inside was completely closed except the bar to order drinks while you wait for a table or to go food, which is good because it's small; however they had a bunch of spread out tables outside so rather than get it to go, we decided to stay and eat outside, which was a big mistake. While I waited for a table, my bf went inside and got us drinks from the bar. By the time he came back out, we were getting seated. We waited maybe 7 minutes which is not bad at all. Once we sat at the table, we chatted for a while and then I started thinking wait no one has come over to us to ask us if we wanted to order. We got menus from a server, but they never came to take any order. I asked my BF to look at his receipt for the drinks to see what time it was he had gotten them. It was 6:17pm. It was now 6:42pm (i always check this because i worked in a restaurant and I know time seems to different when you're waiting for food) Then we thought maybe we were supposed to order inside and they would bring it, so he went in to ask and we were told that was not the case. Finally a server came over and apologized and took our order. We got a pizza, garlic bread and salad. The salad came out right away but the other stuff took about a half hour which i wouldn't complain about if I hadn't seen at least 30 people with to go food walk up and get their orders. Not only that, there were a ton of people waiting for tables to get up so they could be seated. One lady had come in line for a table and she was right behind us in line. She was still waiting for a table when we left. All of the tables were getting their food very slowly. It was clear the restaurant was catering to to-go orders. Then of course we waited more time to get our bill. I totally understand that we are in different times and restaurants are doing the best they can, but if you only have the capacity to do to go, then only do to go. I guarantee it won't slow business down because people love this place. The food and atmosphere is so great here normally. We will definitely come back, but not until COVID is over. read more

Excellent food and atmosphere. Loved the fried raviolis and reminded me of my favorite place to get them in St. Louis. Service was awesome, friendly, quick and we were even checked on to make sure our party was warm enough in the tent outside. As far as covid, the staff was maintaining social distance, wearing masks and had a great outdoor setup to ensure customers were feeling safe. Ordered a few different kinds of pastas for take out and was disappointed at the small portion despite the price. It might be perception but it seemed even lesser in quantity than when we dined in due to the small container they use. It was tasty but just not enough to call it an entree. The salads that came with the pastas were also withered and not fresh with some mushy black ends :-( I have been satisfied with their food in the past and had intentionally chose them to treat some friends from out of town but regretted the decision. read more

A Brookhaven gem! This pizza spot is more than just amazing food and service but a place where local families come together to enjoy each other's company. We arrived on a Friday around 7:00/7:15PM and it was packed. The parking lot is very small and guests tend to make their own spots. We were lucky because a vehicle was pulling out and when we walked in there was two open seats at the bar...SCORE! Per the bartender recommendation we ordered the SPO pizza topped with Italian sausage and grilled onions. The pizza was delicious and I loved that it came right from the wood fire pizza oven ($14.00). Also we had the homemade mozzarella sticks ($7.00) which were okay, but will be trying the garlic bread next time. They have a great wine selection and draft beers to choose from with weekly items to choose from. This was our first time so the manager presented us with three mouthwatering cannolis and I was in dessert heaven. The cream was fresh and the shell baked just right! Cute little local spot for good pizza and wine. I came to this spot twice so far and plan on keeping this place on our rotation. So far my favorite was the pizza with artichokes and mushroom toppings. I like that they use fresh toppings other than the canned stuff. 1. Eggplant Parmesan, the pictures I've seen posted on yelp look different than what we had. On my first visit the eggplant rounds were small, just a little bit rounder than a golf ball. The plate had a few pieces but I honestly felt ripped off because the picture I saw was nice large piece. You know when you're expecting something one way and it comes differently you can't help but be disappointed. My husband ordered it the 2nd time we visited and his plate had bigger pieces than mine but it still looking different the picture. The taste was ok, not bad but nothing special. Garlic Cheese bread - like many yelpers, this is delicious. The portion is big and satisfying. Zucchini Sticks - Ours came out round but no big deal. They were still tasty, I mean c'mon fried vegetables how can you go wrong. Rice balls - they were decent but not what expected. The balls were smaller than a golf ball and I didn't see the meat, but I tasted the flavor. I'm from NJ/NY so I'm used to the larger rice balls (about the size of a baseball, sometimes bigger) And the meat is usually in the center of the rice. I don't think I'd order these rice balls again. We heart Avellino's! Its is THE neighborhood pizza/pasta spot. Very casual and moderately priced. Service is good despite how busy they are, consistently. It reminds me of a typical pizza/pasta neighborhood joint in the middle of New Jersey. It appears out of nowhere on Windsor Parkways among a row of nice homes and is located next to a dry cleaners...super Northeast vibe, love it! Pizza is delicious and this is coming from someone who misses NY style pizza to no end... Tip: don't get discouraged if you see a long line (esp for outdoor seating). In our search for alternatives to O4W, we've been trying more places close to home. Avellino's may fill that void. While we don't think it's as good as O4W was at its prime, Avellino's has really solid offerings. It's really small and really packed, so be prepared for that. And when you add middle-aged white women with free flowing wine in a small space, you have a recipe for a very loud environment. You've been warned. Cackles aplenty. What's weird is that the thing I liked most about it is that I felt like I was at a small hole in the wall joint in a place like Staten Island. I don't feel any of the south infiltrating the vibe other than hearing a person here or there with a heavy southern accent. We got the arancini (good but wish was a little cheesier inside), fried zucchini (haven't really see that down here), a small salad, and a plain pie. The dough was flavorful and we enjoyed the sauce. My husband and I love the food at Avellino's. The burrata is our favorite appetizer. All of the pizzas we have tried have been delicious. The restaurant is a bit on the small side and located in a residential area. If there are a lot of families with small children it can get a bit loud. The service has been wonderful. If it is bumping you can have a bit of a hard time parking; one time we were headed there and ended up going elsewhere because we couldn't find a space. The tiramisu we tried was not memorable. Service sucked so badly I have to give a 3. Parking - There's only 1 small strip.... so, that means - during Rush time, parking is BAD. Carpool. Space - There's indoor and outdoor seating. I love seeing pets hanging outside with their owners. Inside - there's a bar area + some 6 man tables. I'd say there's probably more comfy seating outside. It just sucks if it's rainy outside and you have to sit inside. Service - Literally NO ONE paid attention to us. NO ONE. My bf had to flag down someone like 5x during our meal. Water was empty the entire time. Waitress forgot one of our ordered items. Didn't say sorry/check up on us. I'm pretty lenient to restaurants during busy nights but WOW. I'd come here at an off time. When it comes to Italian, I'm really picky. I've had some realllllly good Italian in my life so it's hard to WOW me. This place though, I'd definitely return for round 2. It's right next to a dry cleaners which would set some people off, but you definitely need to give it a shot. They have some outdoor space which is nice to sit outside on a beautiful night. Inside, there's not a ton of tables but the bar is pretty large and they turn the tables over pretty quickly. There's a decent amount of parking but you can get away with parking along the side of the building. 4 of us had a table pretty quickly. We got drinks, 2 appetizers (meatballs and cheese bread) and I got one of the pasta specials of the night (sausage, goat cheese, pesto tortellini). The meatballs were just okay, had a decent taste, but the cheese bread is a must! My pasta was amazing. The goat cheese was a great addition to the tortellini! Usually packed around 6PM-7PM, with families enjoying some good time and good food. If you can, try to arrive around 7:30PM... There were about 15 people waiting either for seating or pickups. I was able to snag a seat at the bar when someone who waiting waiting on a pizza order to-go finally left. I had already decided what I wanted while I was waiting for a seat and quickly got my order in while watching SNF. For how many people there were eating I was surprised at how quickly my food arrived. The meatballs were decent; very dense and a bit dry but overall had good flavor. The sauce was not sweet, which I like, but seemed to lack flavor. The side of pizza dough was good and if I decide to come back that is probably what I would try. TLDR: Great little Italian place in Brookhaven. Pizza wasn't as good as others around town I've had but definitely worth checking out if you live in the local area. The Long Version: I got take-out from here on a Sunday night (because football and pizza). I got the fried ravioli, garlic cheese bread, and a S-P-O pizza. The food was prepared fairly quickly, within ~20mins of me ordering. Parking at the location was ample and they had good seating inside and outside. You can tell this is a neighborhood place, there were families with kids eating and they're even dog friendly! (outside at least). The ravioli was not particularly memorable and I don't think I would order it again. Nothing wrong with it but was overall a bit bland but tasty enough that you'd eat it. The pizza was also only slightly above average I think though that may have been my choice. There was an odd after taste after each bite that I couldn't get pass. The pizzas are also Italian style in the sense they are thin and probably meant to be eaten by one person. They differ from traditional Italian pizzas in the amount of toppings and cheese though so be warned they are a little heavier. The crust was very good though, a little burnt like a good pizza should be and thin too. I would not recommend the S-P-O, try something else. The truly outstanding part of the meal was the garlic cheese bread which honestly could've been a meal on it's own. It was delicious and paired with the sauce, it got even better. The size of it was also huge, about as long as pizza. The inside was filled with cheese and was almost too much (a touch less would've been nice). Highly recommend getting the garlic cheese bread if you go here. Worth checking this place out if you live nearby. read more

Went here to eat with my aunt and uncle and 5 year old daughter. Was able to get seated outside fairly quickly, our table had shade so it wasn't too hot. We started with the burrata appetizer which was amazing! My aunt and uncle and daughter ordered pizzas and I got the mezzaluna panini. When the food came out the main complaint was the crust was not super crisp. Even my daughter who just got a cheese pizza was surprised with the limp crust. They advertise a 900 degree oven and a few more minutes would have been perfect. The ingredients were good but it was hard to get past the crust. Also here were tons of flies!! We've eaten outside at several other places and didn't have so many flies. Maybe some fans or something would have helped. read more

Avellino's has excellent toppings! The pepperoni was crispy and slightly charred, just how I like it! The bread was a tiny bit chewy but the thin and delicious crust made up for it.
