Stopped in to grab some subs, Great Service, great subs, all around a go to spot in new providence

Best quality in town... and all heart. After you try these sandwiches, you won't hesitate to saunter the meager half block from Subway (it's across the street) or Jersey Mike's (same side of the street). Thankful for such kind/accommodating hosts and subs that were fresh, delicious and gigantic. (When I say gigantic, I mean I ordered a full sub, and when it arrived, I thought I received TWO full subs. Each half measured in at 8-1/2 inches each.) The price... unbelievable. Sorry other sandwich guys, we have a new fav in New Providence. Also noticed wraps, great salads, and more listed on that menu board. Thank you Avenue Deli, for such a pleasant experience. I stopped in the other day to grab a few sandwiches right at noon and they were very busy but I got my order of 3 oversize sandwiches in less than 10 minutes. They were fresh & delicious & plentiful. All 3 of us could only eat half AND the price was very reasonable! Excellent find - will definitely be back! read more

What a great sandwich deli in New Providence. Incredible value and very fresh. Really good selection of sandwiches, wraps and paninis made to order. The Dagwood sandwich was huge and truly delicious. Really friendly people and clearly popular with locals. But then again, if you had a place like this, why would you ever bother with a chain like Jimmy John's or Subway - this is so much better in every way. read more

Wow. One try and this became my favorite sub shop in New Jersey. Ham and turkey with asiago cheese, lettuce, tomato, onion, oil and vinegar, pepper and oregano, hold the salt. HIT. THE. SPOT. One of the best delis anywhere, and I know having grown up in NY and living in NJ for 30 years. The sandwiches are always well made and with quality bread and meats. The Tony's chicken is amazing, too! I think their sloppy Joes are better the Millburn Deli and Hilltop. Plus, their service is outstanding. I like to buy from places that care about their customers. Avenue Deli gets all my love. I used to come here almost every day 7 years ago when I worked in town. Always got the chicken salad sandwich on wheat, lettuce, tomato, salt + pepper. Then switched jobs, then moved to California, and recently made it back to this side of Jersey where, surprise, things taste the EXACT SAME! Quality ingredients, everything is super fresh and delicious, amazing assortment of chips and drinks. You know Jersey girls love their options! They're easily my favorite deli in Jersey. I was hungry after stopping by our vet at Murray Hill, and decided to try their THEC and get a coffee. The service was just ok, even though it took awhile to give my order. There were no markings where to give my order. When a woman told me where to go, I had yo wait for someone else to take my order. Really? The ambiance was lacking. The coffee bar was messy and I had to scan around to find the cream. It was in the cold box by the counter with the salads. I wanted a THEC with a hash brown on it but they only had home fries. I just got the THEC. The roll was borderline hard, almost borderline stale. The Taylor ham was thick slices cooked well done, but there was hardly any cheese or fried egg on it. I chose this place over another place a few doors down because this one had 4 stars. I was not satisfied here and will not be back. I will try the other place. I grew up with ham and swiss sloppy joes from this deli. After many years, they're still the same!! But this time, on the advice of a friend, I also tried a cheesesteak. My friend claims they're the best in town. And they are! Unlike others I've tried, this deli actually slices the beef fresh before cooking. The roll is soft, yet holds up well and there's a decent amount of meat. If you're looking for good value and a solid sandwich, Avenue Deli is the place to go. read more

Just little update that after renovations they have seating! Food still still same--meaning it's awesome. --- NJ Sloppy Joe. Never heard of it. Some cold cuts and cheese between bread with some cole slaw, doesn't sound like much (in fact, that's not what we call sloppy joe where I come from). But, something about it make you keep wanting more. I must have gained 10 lbs since I moved here. No ambiance and no seating (except for a few chairs outside), so take your sandwich and go hog wild in the privacy of your own home. read more

I went here for the first time recently and could not believe how good my sandwhich was. Their prices are reasonsable and you actually get a food size sandwhich. The staff is very friendly. I make sandwhiches at home, and they are good, but sometimes I just need a deli sandwhich. I need that shredded lettuce and kaiser roll or hero instead of the broing slices from the bag. I need that sloppy helping of oil and vinegar that makes all my sandwhich toppings slide out the other end when I bite into it. Avenue Deli makes damn good sandwhiches. Period. Could they maybe update the place and paint or give it some life, sure. Could they do something awesome and attractive with their deli counter and sandwhich making station, I suppose. But let's face it, they arent here for ambiance. They are here to give you a SUB when you need it. I go ther faithfully. I also like that in the mornings if you order a breakfast sandwhich , they actually use real eggs and bacon to make it, not some microwaved liquid and pre cooked meat. The people there are pleasant and kind and it doestn hurt they have a huge NY GMEN player on days of the games or play off time....fine taste indeed. read more

My co-workers and I refer to this place as "Heavenly Deli" I legit had to google the actual name of the place so I could write the review. Honestly, I could have left the review at that sentence... This deli is GREAT. Pastrami, Corned Beef, Roast Beef. All to die for. Maybe get a double -- Pastrami, Corned Beef, toss some Pepper Jack Cheese on there and bacon. Heat it up, add some of their sauce (Thousand Island/Russian, I forget the distinguisher) and do you have a killer sandwich. Their subs are great, and when I am feeling a bit more health conscious, their chef salads are also great. They definitely use higher class meat than say the Subway across the street. I have not had any of their hot sandwiches. Whenever I go, I really want to try one, but that pastrami and corned beef is too hard to resist. read more

I moved to New Providence over two years ago and always like to know a good, local deli. I have ordered great sandwiches form Avenue in the past. They were always thick sandwiches with plenty of meat. However, I went there Sunday, May 3rd, 2020 and ordered two whole sandwiches. I paid for and received a whole turkey sub that literally had two small slices of turkey on it. "Find your Game Avenue". On second though, I suppose this place is pretty average. About 50% of the time in the last 2-3 months, the bread has been tough/borderline stale. That's enough for me to drop the rating. I only ever get one thing, turkey and provolone, probably because I'm scared to try anything else, especially the mystery prepared foods in the chafing dishes. Also, the people that work here are not particularly friendly. The one girl/woman barely acknowledges your existance, kind of mumbles under her breath, just seems annoyed in general.
