Dagwood sandwich (Turkey, ham, Swiss cheese, joeslaw, and Russian dressing made on three tiers of rye)
    Tim C.

What a great sandwich deli in New Providence. Incredible value and very fresh. Really good selection of sandwiches, wraps and paninis made to order. The Dagwood sandwich was huge and truly delicious. Really friendly people and clearly popular with locals. But then again, if you had a place like this, why would you ever bother with a chain like Jimmy John's or Subway - this is so much better in every way.

We had quite an assortment of hearty items from their extensive menu. The Big Dudes ‍‍platter consisted of a hot #pastrami sandwich, a stuffed pastrami knish, Rueben eggrolls, potato chips and assorted pickles. Joe and I weren't feeling desserty so we split a pastrami hotdog(ripper style). Everything was delicious and with all of the food choices in New Providence, it would have to be. It's a nice, clean shop with a friendly crew and great location on Springfield Avenue. This is your best Union County pastrami spot!

There's free street parking, so that's always a nice touch. They offer desserts from Junior's (Brooklyn), coffee, chips, & typical deli brand sodas (Boylan). We had the Traditional Sloppy & the Turkey Sloppy. Both were very good. Could have been "sloppier" for my taste, as in not enough Russian Dressing or Coleslaw. I now understand why my Wife wanted extra Russian on her sandwich. She said it still wasn't enough, lol. My Wife enjoyed the coleslaw so much she wanted a side of it. I've heard nothing but great things about Barth's Market, and I finally had the chance to check it…read moreout for myself. I'm so glad I did! Barth's is a family-run business, not a huge supermarket, which is part of its charm. The atmosphere has that welcoming, old-fashioned neighborhood market feel. Everything is clean, neatly displayed, well organized, and easy to find as you walk around. Even with such a large variety packed into the market, it doesn't feel overwhelming, and it's easy to browse and see everything they have to offer. The staff couldn't have been friendlier. They're extremely knowledgeable about their meats and are happy to offer cooking recommendations and even recipes if you're not sure how to prepare something. The meat selection is incredible. As I walked around, I saw beautiful steaks, chops, burgers, Italian and Polish sausages, chicken and veal cutlets, German cold cuts, homemade bratwurst, hot dogs, kielbasa, and a variety of wursts. They also carry organic whole chickens and chicken parts, along with homemade chicken patties and chicken sausages. If you enjoy German foods, Barth's has a nice selection of dried spaetzle and other German-style noodles, along with Kabanos and other specialty items. They also have a fresh fish department. What really surprised me was how much more they offer besides meat. You can pick up homemade prepared foods and entrées, locally sourced fresh breads, milk, eggs, dairy products, drinks, fresh vegetables, salads, condiments, and plenty of other items to put together an entire meal. I bought steaks, Italian sausage, kielbasa, bread, and Kabanos sausage, and everything was incredibly fresh and delicious. The quality of the meats at Barth's is truly outstanding, and you can tell they take pride in what they sell. There's a free parking lot attached to the building, which is very convenient along with a couple of handicapped spaces, and they even have some outdoor seating if you want to grab a sandwich or something to eat and enjoy it outside. I can definitely see why I've heard so many good things about Barth's. Great quality, knowledgeable and friendly service, a welcoming atmosphere, and an impressive selection. I highly recommend checking them out. I'll definitely be back!

Everything else is super expensive but they have some hard to find items. Service is trash. It kind of reminds me of The Fresh Market, but with worse customer service.
