If you're looking for standard breakfast fare, this is a good go to place. At least they have real eggs not like the competition across the street (noah bagels which has awesome bagels but no grill). there isn't really seating area so did a take out. i do remember they have a few seats outside during summer time. got eggs on a roll and love their rolls. though they forgot my onions i will definitely give them another try next time. their sloppy joe is a little more on the mustardy side. good bread. read more

We were visiting NJ from Virginia and stopped into Avenue Deli for lunch. We ordered a couple BLT's and couple turkey sandwiches. Terrific sandwiches. Friendly staff. It our go-to deli for lunch, or subs on the go. Have also used their catering on multiple occasions for family gatherings. Great sandwiches overall. Probably my favorite place to get one in town. They are usually very quick with preparing them too.

I know this place does great business so I decided to give it a try, but after going here I don't know what all the rave is about with this joint. The long wait in line is way too long for the type of food that is being put out. The order expedite process has to be fixed. It's a bad practice to have one employee take an order from a customer and that employee disappears to go fill the order which could consist of 1 sandwich or it could be 10 sandwiches. So now you have all these employees with their backs turned and customers praying that someone will turn around and notice them. There very little communication between employees and it seemed as if they were all bumping into each other behind the counter and scrambling like playing a game of musical chairs. Maybe I was there on a bad day or at a bad time of day; I don't know. I ordered an oven roasted turkey panino with cheddar, bacon, spinach, and chipotle mayo on herb focaccia. The panino was OK, but I would rather have had turkey off the bird instead of processed deli turkey, but that's just my preference. The deli case looks AWFUL. The deli case is supposed to show off your product. The main pieces of meat from which the cold cuts are sliced need to be trimmed and on display for everyone to see. We all know people eat with their eyes first. I will give it another try and update. read more

The Sandwiches are great. There is so much variety in their menu. Serving sizes are really big and the prices are very reasonable.

Inexpensive sandwiches, all are delicious. Every time I am in there, there is always a line, and that's okay. Their pastrami is really good. They give you a lot of meat for your dollar. All they really need to do is put a grill in the FRONT of the deli. Those poor peopel have to walk back and forth to heat things up. Everything is SOOOOO GOOOD! The pitter-patter of rain hit my light fall jacket on a cool New Jersey night. I was lost. The teenage angst that rocked my skull and my unbearable lust for physical passion had left me at a crossroads, the likes of which I had never experienced in my young life. I had wandered into a local deli, one of many in the area, seeking shelter from the rain and place to rest my aching heart. The entrance read "Avenue Deli", but I couldn't have cared less at the time, I didn't care about anything... but I digress.... The interior was dimly lit, the room was narrow and there was no attempt to create an aesthetically pleasing atmosphere. I slowly strolled towards the Italian man running the establishment at the time, he was, perhaps, the one saving grace to the bleak atmosphere. His pectorals were firm and bountiful, screaming at me to be greased with some of the available mayonnaise and vinegar, so that they might glisten under those dim lights. His biceps were wide, like two well sized grapefruits. He must of had the strength of 30 or 35 babies. His presence brightened my spirits slightly, knowing I had such a strong man handling my deli goods. I approached him coyly, and requested a "Dagwood" special. His strong hands moved effortlessly as he stacked meats, cheeses and sauces, one upon another. It was beautiful. He was beautiful. I sat upon one of the chairs which sat outside under an umbrella, so that I may be protected from rain. I unwrapped the 'Dagwood' special, and it was glorious. Only the finest slices of ham and turkey, their shades of pink and white contrasted each other in an unbearably delicious fashion. Homemade Russian dressing and cole slaw slewed up and down the sides. All of this and more was barely contained within three beautiful slices of hand crafted bread. At that moment, I looked out onto the dreary New Jersey road that ran before me and I believed again. I believed in beauty, in love, in all things human. The trials and tribulations that will occur in my life are imminent, but at that moment all that mattered was that 'Dagwood', the way it called to me and caressed me spiritually. It was more than a stunning sandwich made by a gorgeous man, it was symbolic of all love and life in the world. All of the sudden, everything mattered, yet nothing mattered. The universe was chaotic madness, yet a perfectly ordered orchestra. I was lost, yet I was found. I finished the sandwich and continued my philosophical adventures. Needless to say this sandwich changed my life. Ordering from Avenue Deli is simply part of the human condition and I pity the lost soul who does not and travels lost within the universe for all their time. read more
