I came here for an event, and it was live! The energy was great. Parking was definitely a challenge -- I had to park around the corner on a residential street. The venue itself was clean and nicely decorated. I ordered the Chicken Quesadilla, which was tasty. I did have to wait at the bar for a while as it was being prepared. I've tried their Crispy Brussel sprouts and had friends try their catfish fingers, Avenue burger, and their nachos. The food is good and cooked decent. I especially enjoyed the catfish, the interior design, and the Happy Hour music. Customer service is great! I don't know why, but I decided to order food to go. I was alone. I ordered shrimp and grits. Whoa!!!!! It was so good that I returned 2 days later and ordered shrimp and grits and an omelette. I don't like eggs, but decided to get eggs for my protein. Why was this the best omelette that I have ever had in my entire life??????????? It's so good, that I paused so that I could tell someone on Yelp! I am typing this while I am eating. Bravo!!!!! My mom enjoyed the shrimp and grits and she is one of the picky elders who believes that no one can make anything as good as her preparation. The service was also excellent on both days. They were fast and helpful with selections. I'll be back! The ambience is extremely dark. I prefer something that's brighter with sunlight. But it's not a deterrent. So I've been to Avenue a couple of times and the food has always been great. The drinks are more of a hit or miss though. Margaritas are solid here. I've ordered other cocktails during past visited and they weren't well mixed. This visit, I had the Round em Up Mule and I really only tasted lime juice, barely any whiskey and no ginger beer. Food wise, I ordered the Brussel sprouts and the brisket breakfast burrito. Both were delicious! Service was great and our food came quickly. Also, certain nights, there's a dj there but this most recent visit, even though there was no dj, the music the restaurant was playing was fire. Definitely a solid option. read more

Inside the restaurant you have to walk down a steep ramp to check in. It appears very dark and divided. I can see the jazz club vibe. We opted to dine outside. The couches and crates were cute for open air seating and people watching. There was only one server and she did her best to be attentive to all three tables. I ordered the bbq wings and the brussel sprouts. The wings were excellent. I wish there was something more added to the brussel sprouts. A glaze or onion would have been a nice compliment. I did try a bite of my brothers bread pudding French toast which was truly the best bite. Visited this popular spot to check out the Happy Hour Menu. Truffle fries needed to be brought back out due to them being regular fries, but definitely delivered on that turn around! Caesar salad dressing and Parmesan Cheese came plentiful for my salad and the fried chicken batter was seasoned perfectly! I ordered a Whiskey Ginger Mule I believe, and it was delicious, no complaints ever on the bartenders. All of them do superb jobs when it comes to the drink menu. Very relaxed and welcoming restaurant with inviting decor. Walking in was great and our large party arrived early but was seated quickly. Drinks and food came out pretty quickly and both were tasty. I started with a strawberry lemonade crush and crab dip. The crush was perfect but the dip was a bit too creamy and need some old bay and hot sauce to improve the taste. My main dish was the fried chicken salad that was pretty big and the chicken was perfect. I enjoyed the avocado and eggs that made it very hearty. Service was a bit lagged and we had to find our server to then request her to come over for additional drinks and needed condiments. Everyone else enjoyed their meal and had leftovers to take home. i went for brunch on a sunday. it is quite dark, especially during the day (in contrast to the outdoors). it was not busy when i arrived and the service was very fast and pleasant. i ordered the chicken and waffles and the home fries and spent about 40 bucks including tip. The chicken and waffles were really well cooked and tasty, but for the price point i would expect real maple syrup rather than the fake stuff. the home fries were seasoned well and complimented my sweet dish nicely. i would probably go back, but i would prefer somewhere with more bang for my buck. read more

My main issue is included gratuity on drinks, I think that's tacky and should've been written on the menu, the website, or explicitly said. They include a 20% gratuity. I can't find anywhere where it says that. I got the Bee's Knees which is a gin drink with pomegranate and neither me nor my friend tasted any pomegranate, plus wouldn't the drink have been pinkish? Avenue Kitchen and Bar exceeded my expectations for the "Moo Moo and Margaritas" brunch event! From the moment we were seated to the last sip of margarita, the vibe was festive and fun. The food was delicious. It took a bit longer than usual to arrive, likely due to how busy the event was, but everything we ordered came out fresh and flavorful. The drinks were the star of the show. The margaritas were strong and tasty. The live dj added so much to the experience. We loved the energy that it brought to the event. I really hope that they host this event again! Spontaneous stop here as I've been meaning to try this spot for some time. Checked in and surprise there was an offer for a glass of their House Wine. My Server double checked and, surprise, offer can't be honored as they don't work with Yelp anymore-c'mon now. Noticed they have Saturday Brunch from 11-4 and ordered the Breakfast Burrito-to go. Checked out inside while waiting-walked down an incline to a dining area with a Bar area on the left and tables on right. Dimly lit. It was a day to sit outside and they did have some lounge seating with umbrellas as well high top tables which I liked. Brisket Breakfast Burrito came out with a side of home fries. Brisket was very good but was missing the smoke in the meat. Overall, ok. Service was good-my Server apologized for the Check-in offer miss (would've been better to honor the offer and make the change on the site). I was also asked if I wanted water or if I needed any help by other Servers while waiting for my order. My husband and I dined here for the first time and I enjoyed it. The dining area gave a warehouse feel as opposed to a stuffy dining room. It was open with a partition that separated the seated area from the bar. The music was nice, the servers were welcoming and accommodating. The meal was plentiful and tasty. I left the restaurant beyond stuffed! Now for the drinks. If you've read any of my other reviews, you know I love a classic, sweet margarita with a sugar rim. I had to give a thumbs down to my first margarita but our server, Joe, upon my request, was able to have another one made with Don Julio tequila, which was delicious. Thumbs up to the bartender! I haven't been here in a while. This was my first time trying this breakfast brisket burrito. All I can say is that I am sad that whenever this was created here, I didn't know about it on the first day. Omg it was so darn good. The brisket was extremely tender, there were peppers and onions in there and egg. They were very accommodating because I'm a dairy free foodie. So no cheese on mine. The original does come with scrambled egg and cheese on it. And there is a side habanero sauce that comes with it... kinda hot. Additionally, you get a side of potatoes and these potatoes must be sprinkled with heaven because I relished every bite. By far (no cap) this was the best brunch meal I have had in years (that I didn't make). I'm definitely coming back again. Drinks: brunch has an unlimited mimosa deal which does not included margaritas for 30$ each person. Keep in mind if you get the unlimited everyone at your table needs to purchase that deal . I have visited Avenue Kitchen & Bar many times but on last evening I was extremely disappointed. I had the unfortunate pleasure of attending Jazz Wednesdays. The band is way too loud for the size of this restaurant. I ordered the catfish sandwich that was good but the truffle fries need to be removed from the menu unless you plan to actually create something delicious. The fries should be thicker cut and throwing cheese on regular fries is not worth the $6 up charge. My server was also a bartender who slowly disappeared as the night progressed. Chasing down the server to pay the bill is unacceptable. The bathroom had a horrible smell. I have enjoyed this place over the years but I don't plan to visit this establishment anytime soon. I went with a friend during happy hour and loved the selection of food and drinks. We each ordered a sangria (available red or white) and split 4 apps. Even with the auto-gratuity of 20%, the meal was still very affordable! We ordered the bang bang shrimp (not part of happy hour), crab dip, smoked wings, and roasted brussel sprouts. The wings and crab dip were okay (I could've sworn it used to come with pretzels) but I loved the brussel sprouts and bang bang shrimp. Ali complimented us a bottle of wine for the table, and for that I give him 5 stars. That was very kind of him. The outside patio was definitely a vibe and I loved the playlist, a nice mix of 90's RNB and Hits from the 2000's. The night was beautiful, it was perfect for hanging out with friends. Friday night out in the Hampdens My friends and I decided to give the avenue a try as we were around the corner by the rotunda and decided to grab a quick bite. When we checked in, we saw that there was a free wine with our entree however the manager mentioned that was long time ago however he did decide to give us a free bottle of wine which was very nice of him. Thank you Ali Outdoors was a bit chilly but a vibe, the seats were comfy and people were outside smoking hookah and enjoying the weather. I ordered the crispy catfish sandwich. Come for the casual vibe and an excellent fish sandwich. I stopped in on a Sunday late afternoon and sat at the bar. The bartender was friendly and accommodating. When I requested a bourbon cocktail, he whipped up a delicious (and super cute) off-menu drink that included lemon and elderflower syrup. The Crispy Catfish Sandwich was excellent. We had great service from the waitress team Aleysha and Sugoi who were both amazing...and then towards the end of the night we met Dave. Talked to Dave the "owner" who was super rude and disrespectful. Asked us if we were having a good time and how the restaurant could improve ...but then insulted us when we made recommendations. There were multiple items on the menu that were not being served. The corn was topped with mayonnaise. The chicken was not cooked properly. The bathrooms were disgusting. The 'owner' as he told us he was.. " Dave" after he didnt like our feedback, ... told us to just leave and summoned the waiter to get our check. We had just ordered a bottle of wine. Another insult. He also told us the restaurant only made $1Million and was going bankrupt before he showed up and now he has made the restaurant over $3 Million. He told us that leadership doesn't know how to train people so they rotate staff and he is changing the menu because his partner is clueless to what the restaurant needs. His actions were distasteful and offensive. We visit here often because of location and convenience but honestly there are several other places we can visit in Hampden and so we don't plan to return. It's a shame. The restaurant is located in Hampden so parking is a challenge but usually worth it...unless you meet Dave. Ambiance was cool. Music was not too loud and food is not spectacular but what you would expect from a bar. Wings are good. Fries were yummy. Wine...they had a Bourdeaux that was awesome but no more. The Cab was okay. I ended up ordering truffle fries and crispy Brussels sprouts from the happy hour menu, fried shrimp and waffles from the entree menu. The fries were underwhelming, the Brussels sprouts tough. Both were much better the next day after spending time in the air fryer. My daughter ordered lobster Mac and cheese, which ended up being a fried lobster tail on top of a bowl of Mac. My son ordered fried chicken and waffles and got half a chicken (no complaints at all) My grandson had the tastiest meal - mac & cheese and chicken tenders which were perfectly seasoned. My shrimp and waffles were delicious. The adult Mac n cheese had a perfect sauce that needed SEASONING. You will get your money's worth in quantity. They were out of a few items, we had to ask for silverware and the one woman passing by that we asked for silverware told us there was none, despite the restaurant being empty three hours before close, and brought us plastic and then our actual server brought real silverware out without us even asking him shortly after, very odd. There's 20% gratuity on all checks as a side note. The food was in my opinion is just very mediocre. We just found this place on a whim. We were trying to find somewhere that stayed opened after 10 in Baltimore. Everybody kitchen close early! So Google led us to this spot. I wish there were more redeeming qualities following my brunch at Avenue Kitchen this morning but...alas. I arrived for an 11:30am reservation with my family and things started on a positive note. Our drink orders were taken and we were accommodated with a four-top of our choice. I also really enjoyed my first cup of coffee (even though I was apparently given the last remaining alternative sweetener in the restaurant) but that's where the good times stopped rolling. It took an extraordinarily long time for our food to come and, when it finally did, nothing arrived at the same time. I asked for a refill on my coffee in the meantime and what arrived was burnt and bitter, and it had spilled along the side and was overflowing onto the saucer. Not sure why it wasn't cleaned prior to being brought to the table. Sigh. My nephew's chicken tenders and fries from the kid's menu arrived first and was just fine. Next arrived two breakfast brisket burritos that were described as "okay" and "much smaller" than during a previous July visit. My omelet arrived third and it is nothing I would order again. Perhaps because of the pico on top, it was very watery. There was some okay flavor but paired with lukewarm home fries, it was mostly disappointing. My sister's waffle arrived last (quite a bit after her burrito) and was undercooked. When we were finally able to get someone's attention (because no one came to check on us) they did replace it and cooked it properly. The right thing to do, of course, but little solace given the mounting issues. We had another long wait to get our check. This waiter apologized for the series of unfortunate events and seemed like she would have been quicker to rectify the issues we had previously had she known but the promise of a better visit in the future will stand unfulfilled. We won't be back but hope others have a better experience than we did. read more
