Went here right when they opened because we have a toddler. Everything here was amazing. My daughter had the 'children's mac and cheese' which could have been an amazing adult entree. Awesome all around. Very busy on a Saturday. Could not get a table as they were not accepting same day reservations so we ate at the bar. Tried phoning for reservations the night before and day of but to no avail....no answer. Staff was incredible as was the atmosphere and food. Nicole was the finest bartender we could ask for. Went here for a girls birthday dinner. Atmosphere; Very loud they need to put some fabric on the walls such as curtain panels to absorb the sound. It's all brick and stone needs some warmth. Lighting is can lighting in bar area, could have done some cool pendant lighting etc. Drink; Ok so the wine, no choice 1 Cabernet 12.00 a glass. No martini menu, which is unusual but Good craft beer selection. Food: overpriced. It had ONE chicken dish with bones etc no boneless option no pork option and no vegetarian pasta options. Had a grilled chicken (from the salad option) with a side of risotto 25.00!! Service: never came to table for more drinks or to check if we enjoyed the food. Had to call her over for our check. Won't be returning. Too pricey but may have people pay the prices based on the affluent town. read more

Friday Night - we were able to get a reservation for 6 just after 8:00. We got there early, had drinks in the loud, friendly and crowed bar at the front. The drinks were well poured, and the bartender seemed to handle to crowd well. Waited only a few minutes past our reservation time to be seated. Our table was huge and roomy. The smaller tables seemed more cozy but all well laid-out and comfortable. It was still a loud, but not overwhelming. Our waiter Alex is absolutely an asset for Avenue. He made great suggestions, was enthusiastic, attentive but not overbearing. For appetizers we ordered the Comodoro (very nice) and Avenue (spectacular) flatbreads, PEI mussels (fine, but nothing special) and calamari (a little tough and bland). Other staff - keeping everything running smoothly, backed up Alex nicely. For supper we did a couple of the split chickens (excellent choice, esp. the grilled bread, but not a lot of meat), Angus Bolognese (so good, wish there was more), salmon (wow), the grilled steak (great) and burger (most excellent fries and big enough to take half home) and at Alex's suggestion we added the charred asparagus which was perfect to share. Dinner left little room for dessert, but the coffee and cappuccino were perfect, and Alex was great and funny to the very end. I had my first (and probably last) visit to Avenue in Medfield last night. I was running behind and didn't want to lose my reservation so I called.... "Hello Avenue Please Hold.... Over 7 minutes later someone finally picked up my call. My date and I arrived about 15 minutes late, but my table was ready so I relaxed on the phone thing and let it go. Appetizer was OK but then I ordered the steak and it was like shoe leather. I NEVER complain in restaurants but $30.00 steak should not need to be sawed. The waiter said he was sending the chef over. 5 minutes later the manager arrived (what happened to the chef?)... Oh we'll take that off the bill. I really wasn't looking for anything but for $30 I expect to be able to cut my steak with relative ease. Then the bill came.... deleting the steak from the bill must have slipped their mind. Dinner Tuesday evening started with stale rolls fit for my dog. My wife and I ordered salads with salmon and chicken with the corn chowder to start. The corn chowder was just OK. We have ordered it before and it was fantastic, but it was changed to include shrimp and bacon on top. It sounded really good but it was not. We should have sent it back but we were starving at the time. My salad had root vegetables that were so hard they were inedible. The salmon on top was served with the skin up and pan fried. It was tasteless and the skin on top disgusting and unappetizing. My wife's salad was similar with the chicken looking less than appetizing. I ate less than a third of the salad and my wife had a few bites and stopped. We were weekly customers when the Avenue opened and over time the inconsistency of our favorite dishes (the skirt steak and Bolognese to name a few) with going from great to average at best has caused us to rethink even going at all. After we left the other night we both agreed we would not be back which is sad as we had really enjoyed dining there early on. Turn over of employees has to be the root cause of their inconsistency of both the quality of the food and dining experience. read more

We had great meals and even better service on Saturday night. The restaurant and bar were hopping. Our waiter, Alex, was quite knowledgeable about the menu and very attentive without hovering over our party of 5. The swordfish and salmon dishes were delicious and our daughter loved her gnocchi. The only reason I didn't give Avenue a 5 star rating is because they need to do something about the acoustics: we literally had to yell at each other across the table to be heard. Maybe there's a noise-dampening solution they could look into. Otherwise, a phenomenal evening. read more

Service poor didn't get wine that was for dinner until after dinner was finished. The pasta was short of al dente so not quite cooked. Swordfish was a little fishy and way too many capers were in the sauce that was on top of the swordfish. The salad was nothing special and expensive it was the beet salad. Cute decor, friendly service and fun and flavorful food. We had the lemon-Parsley wings which were delicious and literally fell off the bone. My boyfriend had the burger and said it was one of the best he has had - quality beef and great sauce. I had the mussels and the gazpacho as my meal and was not disappointed. The mussels were in a spicy light sauce that I loved. The gazpacho was OK-but a little more soupy in the consistency tHan I would have liked...just personal preference really. The two wood grilled shrimp that came with the gazpacho made it a treat. Our bartender was great as well. She made my boyfriend two different versions of an old fashioned and he loved them both. I had the sangria and it was not too sweet, but just right. We will return! read more

Yay, Medfield finally has an upscale dining restaurant! The food and service were really solid. The beer list was eclectic and delicious. The prices were reasonable, too, especially given the good-sized portions. We even got an impromptu tour of the kitchen and Argentinian grill from chef/owner Josh, who was so gracious. Can't WAIT to go back! (The only gripe was that it was super chilly in there the night we went. Maybe still getting the kinks out of the A/C system?) read more

Wonderful to see a good restaurant in town! The food is way better than Noon Hill, and not as pretentious as Zebra's. Our steaks were juicy and cooked well. We were seated promptly. The service was good. The only negative was the cherry bread pudding. It was a little dense, almost like it had been weighted down in baking & was a little too heavy. Everything else was great! Don't waste your time. The only reason Avenue is getting 2 stars is because of the food, location, and ambiance. We had really hoped to love it, living in Medfield and wanting to support our local businesses, but the customer service is just pitiful. We ate at the restaurant when it first opened, no real issues to discuss. Our most recent experiences with the restaurant staff has been the driving factor in our desire to write a review. We ordered take-out from Avenue in April '17, and when we called, no one picked up our calls until the 3rd attempt, then the waitress put us on hold for greater than 5 minutes (it was a Monday night, at 8pm) and she actually picked up the phone after those 5 minutes to answer with her opening line, she COMPLETELY forgot about us waiting to place a take-out order! This was frustrating, and poor organization of customer service. Our other poor experience that just happened tonight was another attempt to place a take-out order. We have a 10 month old at home, therefore, take-out is often our best option! We loved the food when we ordered previously, so we wanted to enjoy it again in the comfort of our home.. Well, we called... 4 times to get some one to pick up this time, and when the woman answered, my husband simply asked what the market cut of the steak was for tonight, and he was put on hold.. this time for 8 minutes, with no one coming back to answer. He hung up and asked to speak to a manager, and supposedly, it happened to be the manager who answered this call.. My husband explained that he was disappointed in the 8 minute wait time with no response, and expressed that he felt their customer service was poor. The manager had no insight to explain why this may have happened, or any effort to fix the problem. My husband went on to explain he wanted to place an order, come to find out-- THEY DON'T DO TAKE OUT ON WEEKENDS! ....Couldn't some one have said this from the beginning??? We will no longer be supporting Avenue. We'll stick to our other Medfield go-to restaurant, Basils. Delicious food, always excellent customer service, and prompt response to calls. read more

Sadly the service we received did not match the excellent food. Our appetizers were served before our drinks arrived which in of itself isn't the end of of the world but it was just the beginning. Our waitress completely forgot drink orders twice, offered refills on hot water for tea twice and failed to ever come back with it. Again, after dinner drinks were delivered after desserts were delivered (and eaten, grr) and forgot 2 of the 4 drinks ordered. We were sympathetic with the fact that our waitress was new but dissatisfied with the overall experience and fact that we paid over $600 for a party of 6 for it. It was sloppy and what's worse is the manager did nothing and he had a pretty good idea of what was going on. It all starts from the top and with that type of management I'm not surprised with the lack of training our waitress had. read more

So this was our second indoor dining during this pandemic. I totally love their system of texting before arriving. Why wait in a line? We were greeted with "thank you for following our protocol". When we were led in the hostess explained all the rules...masks on when standing, location of the restroom , sanitizer at the table, time limit, etc. Frankly, I found it calming, organized and thorough. We ordered the mussels. The broth with the thick pieces of bread are in a word- decedent. We ordered the Thai salad which had the perfect amount of dressing and the meatball flatbread. This was just the menu for a hot summer night. The service was excellent. I can't say enough about that. Would I go again? Yes. Of course I am going for the scrumptious food but I also want to feel safe. This restaurant has an amazing menu and you can tell that your safety is not an afterthought. My husband and I went last night. I had the cocktail of the night. Pricey for the portion but tasty. We ordered the garlic lemon wings as an app. They were fall of the bone tender, but soggy due to being drowned in the lemon sauce. They were also cold. I would have liked more garlic flavor. My husband got the burger and fries, which were just-good. We shared the BLT salad, which was good, but a side salad portion with an entree salad price. I had the lobster mac, which had lots of lobster but lacked overall flavor. Beautiful restaurant. Great staff. A little pricey for the portions. An OK experience, but we won't be putting Avenue in our restaurant rotation. read more

I can honestly say that I have never been treated so poorly by restaurant staff or anyone in my life. We were a group of 5 using 3 seats at the end of the bar. The bartender made it clear that he did not want us there then proceeded to ignore us waiting on anybody and everybody that walked in. My husband and I ate here last night and were thrilled! Loved the look of the of the restaurant inside and out. Beautifully designed in an modern, yet warm atmosphere with an industrial edge to compliment their hardware store heritage. The "flocking birds" wall decor is exquisite! We were seated on the banquet and were very comfortable. We ordered a bottle of a Boudreaux blend from Sonoma Calf., which was a wonderful compliment to our appetizers and entrees also reasonably priced. We shared the potato encrusted calamari and the beef short rib and blue cheese turnovers. The calamari was crisp and delicious! But the short rib blue cheese turnovers were melting in our mouths, TO DIE FOR!!! A must try! My husband ordered the house chicken and I, the Coulotte steak. We shared both. The chicken is the BEST chicken I have ever tried out. It is nearly fall of the bone tender and simply wonderful. The steak was cooked to perfection with a nice char from the grill and chimichurri to add a unique and unexpected additional flavor. And the hand cut French fries may just the best I have eaten in years. There was so much food, we both were taking home yummies for later. Yet, we both decided to try a sweet ;) I ordered the lemon pound cake and my husband ordered the signature blondie sundae and coffee. The sundae was large enough portion to share with a warm, sweet butterscotch blondie, vanilla ice cream, warm caramel sauce and a sweet butterscotch brittle.....is your mouth watering yet? I ( a lemon LOVER!) was so happily surprised that the pound cake was warm too! I have never been served in a restaurant, a warm pound cake. It had a exceptional delicate lemon favor, served over a berry compote with fresh strawberries, and blackberries and whipped cream, dusted with powered sugar for a beautifully plated dessert. The service was great, the table carafe of water was a nice touch, refilled before we asked. Our waitress was attentive and friendly ( everyone was) but not over powering. For a new restaurant our entire meal was time perfectly, with tastes our mouths will water over for some time! And not to mention, all at good prices to boot. If I had to say anything bad about Avenue, it would be it is not on the Cape so we could easily become regulars! Thanks for a memorable date night Avenue!! We will be back soon. read more

We finally got into this place. There was always a wait in person and reservations were 2 weeks out. It reminded me of those new nightclubs in Boston, so much hype and reserved tables... We live one block away and really wanted to make it a hang out for our night out. What a disappointment. I called one day when they first opened. I was told no more reservations. Really? Went three times- bread is awful. Tastes like they bought at Shaws, service is inconsistent. Food is just plain bad. Had a flatbread with hardly anything on it, a tasteless steak(if you could call it that and lobster mac n cheese with no lobster. Acoustics were so bad we couldn't hear each other. Drinks are tiny. I realize they spent a lot on the renovation but taking it out on the customers is not ok. We go to Basil now. Good drinks, friendly service and amazing portions of good food. read more

We left another restaurant just around the corner that was horrible and walked to Avenue. We sat at the bar and we were served by Patrick. He was outstanding. Personable, gave suggestions, great service. Food was wonderful, atmosphere great, loved the addition of Julia Child on the speaker in the restrooms! Will definitely return. Made a reservation for Sunday evening and we are glad we did, the place was full including the bar. Staff was young and inexperienced but very friendly and helpful. Casual atmosphere. Food was very good and a good value for the price. Highlights were the Rib Turnovers and the Blondie Sundae. Overall a great experience and nice to have a place like this in Medfield. More value than Zebra's but higher quality food than anywhere else. In addition to the pricier entrees they offer dinner-style salads and burgers so a wide range of options and prices. Dinner for two with three courses including drinks expect $100-$150. Will definitely be back. read more

went here on a Saturday, had a reservation for 4 at 8pm, place was busy, all tables were taken, took no more than 5 minutes to get seated, I have to say I like everything about this place........great spot for a suburb of Boston, not much for casual dining with a slightly upscale feel out this way, it's bigger inside then expected, has a nice bar that was full but the bar tender acknowledge us immediately and offered to get us drinks while we waited, we were seated quickly after checking in so we didn't get to partake.. the waitress was prompt and courteous and ran through the specials for us then was off to get us drinks... so we had appetizers of mussels, ribs and wood fired pizza all were delicious and came out fairly quickly, I don't think it took more than 12 minutes....the waitress never rushed to take our entree orders which I liked, she let us enjoy the apps which we nearly finished before she asked us for a dinner order.........entrees were salmon, swordfish and short ribs and I must say the presentation was terrific, nice size portions and interesting sides made everyone happy, all delicious...anyway I'll most certainly go back, the menu is diverse enough to encourage more than a few trips back...if you go without a reservation I'd say early or after 8, I noticed it thinned out between 8-9...great job everyone see you soon, and thank you read more

I'm not sure what to think of this place at the moment. Like others that I have read - we had 1 amazing experience here and 1 terrible one. I truly think it was the difference in wait staff. The first time, our waiter was amazing & really good with my food allergies, extremely knowledgeable about the menu, great personality, good recommendations-we just had such a great experience. The second time, after discussing food allergies and providing a chef card - my salad came out with dressing that I am allergic to!!! Thankful that I did not try it! Not a good start, but ok it happens on occasion right? It then took a very long time to get our drinks amd it did not seem overwhelmingly busy. Next the main dishes came out and my husbands meal was entirely wrong - the wrong chicken dish. He decided to try it so I wouldn't have to eat my meal alone. Next, the wine recommendation was not good at all and we have probably only sent 1 bottle back in 20 something years. So, by the second bite, my husband discovered that the center of his chicken was actually very cold. We couldn't believe it! Just a total strike out. He didn't eat it. She offered another meal but just too late at that point. The manager comped the meals without us asking for that as they could see our night was ruined, but it was just a horrible night out. IF we go back one more time, I'll be sure not to have the last waitress! We overheard that she messed up an order at a table near us as well. We had dinner at the Avenue last Friday night - Jan 14, 2018. We had a table of 11 to celebrate my husband's birthday. Six of the eleven were children. Our waitress, Lia, was most gracious and efficient, and made the experience very enjoyable. The food was fantastic - everyone loved their meal. We will be back many times - just loved it. The acoustics are not great, but the total experience makes up for it. read more

Great food, cool scene, nice vibe. First time here so wanted to try several dishes. We ordered the calamari, mussels. and the Avenue flatbread. Everything was great. Flatbread was our favorite. Good sauce, crust and the wood oven makes it. The calamari was lightly fried and was served with a pomodoro sauce that was excellent. We would've done shots of it. Mussels were good, served with grilled-charred garlic bread which was great for dunking in the broth as well as the POMODORO sauce :) We ended the meal with the blondie sundae, which was recommended by the waitress. SO GOOD! Prices were very reasonable. We had all the food plus a couple beers for under $70. . Will be back to try the entrees. read more
