Something did not seem right when another area dentist told me that I needed to have "deep cleaning" (as in cut your gums and clean under them) on a few teeth. I have never had that problem, so I said no thanks and went to Dr. Judy here. She said no way is there anything wrong with your gums or teeth that would require deep cleaning. Definitely no attempt at an upsell here! And she said that other dentist also missed the fact that one of my fillings needed replacing and another had a crack that would now require a crown. She showed me the areas on the digital single-tooth close-ups, and yes, I could see the damage. When Dr. Judy did the filling and crown prep, she provided nitrous oxide and worked really, really fast. Really fast is important to those of us who have a hard time with jaw spasms. I have never seen a dentist be so efficient. The temporary crown fit perfectly, without a bit of discomfort. When the permanent crown arrived, it also fit perfectly and has a wonderfully natural texture. The pricing was also quite fair. Instead of saying there is just one price for a crown, they say it is going to be one price if we have to do the normal tooth structure build up and a much lower price if we don't. I got the lower price, and that speaks to their honesty. My husband also went and greatly liked Dr. Judy. My daughter went to another doctor at Avery Ranch Dental and also had a positive experience. I'm one of these people who hasn't been to a dentist in 10 years for a variety of reasons, one being I have a lot of anxiety when it comes to needles and stuff in my mouth. I decided to "break the ice" and give Avery Ranch Dental a shot. I setup an appointment and was given Dr. Lowrance as my Dentist. After my initial cleaning, which went great, Dr Lowrance came in and told me I had quite a few (10) cavities, which really was no surprise. They setup a time for me to come back to get them filled and I made an appointment to try and get them all filled in one go. On the day of, I was incredibly nervous and even nauseous I think due to the anticipation of the appointment. When I got into the office, both Dr Lowrance and her assistant were incredibly patient with me explaining we could go as fast or as slow as I was comfortable with for my fillings. They made sure I was as comfortable as could be, starting off with turning a TV on for me to watch something to relax me before they went to work on me. They then proceeded with the nitrous oxide and never made me feel bad or rushed when I needed to take a bathroom break. They also took their time and went slowly to make sure the different parts of my jaw were numbed appropriately. The work was really straight forward and I was really happy with the work at the end of the day. Getting cavities filled is still not a fun experience and hurts, but the people here made a huge difference for me. With so many doctors out there I feel places really have to distinguish themselves for the rest, and both Dr. Lowrance and her staff did exactly that. I've been going to Avery Ranch Dental and had multiple dentist. All have been wonderful! The office staff is very friendly and even recognize me when I walk in the door. They are always very honest about what needs to be done and do not try to add things that I do not need. I had an issue where I was unhappy with work done at Avery Ranch Dental several years ago and Dr. Lowrance and Dr. Lowery have been extremely understanding and helpful in finding a resolution and we will be working on giving me the smile I have been wanting since I was young. After my appointment today, I thought I would go ahead and give Avery Ranch Dental an awesome review, because I felt they truly deserved it. I haven't had a decent dentist in my entire life. In last two dental offices I had appointments with were terrible. Told me I needed fillings for cavities (that I knew I probably didn't have, but I'm not a dentist, so what do I know?), tried to pressure me into getting procedures done that I didn't want to get done, and incorrectly charged me out of pocket. After meeting Dr. Simon at a health fair for my company, I was convinced that I should give Avery Ranch Dental a try. Flash forward to my first appointment. I was seen promptly, and examined. My suspicions were correct... no cavities and NO pressure to sell any procedures to me at all. Everything I needed to know was explained to me in full. Everyone was friendly and welcoming. A night guard was recommended for my treatment plan (I knew I needed one), so I made the appointment to get one made. After I received my night guard, I tried it for about a week, and it didn't feel right. This was my first time ever having one so I wasn't sure if the feeling was normal or not. I decided to just wait it out and bring it up at my next appointment (6 months later). BIG MISTAKE! I should NOT have waited, as my teeth have shifted so much so, my night guard didn't even fit anymore. Dr. Myhre tried to correct it but it just wasn't happening. After knowing it was really my fault it didn't fit anymore, Avery Ranch Dental agreed to replace my night guard, so I made another appointment for a new one. I got to my appointment to have a new night guard made, and was told I would have to pay an amount I wasn't expecting. I was told one thing, and am now having to pay another. I was pretty confused, but they cleared the whole situation up and handled it so well. There wasn't any rudeness or mistreatment about the situation. Dr. Myhre spent extra time making sure that every detail was right for the fit of my new night guard and made sure I was taken care of. As a customer, I can't stress how much I appreciated that. I will be coming to Avery Ranch Dental as long as I can. I trust the staff and dentists, and I am thankful they were willing to work with me for my mistake. I went here for a few years and it was okay. They were much nicer to me when they knew it was my first visit. After that, they seemed more apathetic. Most of the people are professional and the office is nice. However, they always press other services on you and seem to treat you differently depending on whether or not you buy something. And some of the people are kind of catty and weird. Dr. Judy always had to point out that I had an...unusual bite. (Thanks. I have a mirror.) The last straw was when I went in for what I thought was an abscess. It turned out to be exposed bone. I was in a lot of pain. She prescribed an antibiotic rinse. A week later I returned with a fever, nausea, and chills and more pain. She prescribed antibiotic pills this time. I had to ask for pain medicine. She relented and prescribed Ibuprofen and sent me to an oral surgeon. The oral surgeon wasn't on my insurance. That was a nice five hundred dollar surprise. I developed a bizarre new pain in my mouth. It turned out to be a yeast infection--probably from taking the antibiotic rinse for so long. Dr. Judy just seemed upset to see me. I asked her if she could check the bone and see if it was healing. It wasn't. She told me to give it some more time, then go back to the oral surgeon if I had problems. This was a problem for me, because he didn't take our insurance. She did. The whole thing was just really unpleasant. I was sick and/or in pain for about two months. I felt like no one cared. I spend too much damn money in these places to feel like that. Anyway, I'm done with this place. read more

I've been coming to here for about a year now. It was recommended to me by a coworker and to see Dr Lowry. I have since changed to Dr Burns, due to an emergency filling she became my dentist. I had a filling pop out due to age and decay. At that point she recommended replacement of 2 other ones. Since that one was so close to being a root canal, I came back for another appointment for those. I must say, the work on this filling is much better than the previous one. This place is great, first Dentist office I've been to that I don't have to deal with Insurance and Flex Spending afterward....their billing department got something right. The staffs are nice, great waiting room area. I got my fillings yesterday and I told Dr. Lawrence that I don't want the numb, she asked repeatedly are you sure?????she was worried that I can't handle the pain.....LOL....but I rather take the pain than get the shot, I hate needles..... Super clean office, lots of room, and they open at 8:30 so you can have an early appointment and go on with your day..... Former patient and left after 2 visits. I have never had a dentist smirk when looking at my teeth after asking if there was some serious trauma done to cause few missing teeth. A smirk is not something I want to hear a professional announce while openly judging me. I will not name this dentist because unlike that individual I try not to be rude. I had my fillings done and there are 2 things that bothered me about that experience. 1. the dentist worked on a tooth that already had a filling and I did not want any work done on because it did not need it at all. The dentist removed the filling and put a new one in, a hefty cost of $400+ after my insurance. 2. after the fillings I went home and took a look inside my mouth and noticed cavities on a tooth that the dentist worked on. I immediately called them and asked to speak with the dentist. Note: the dentist had never taken my call, the assistant did. I actually had to go in, in order to speak with said dentist. Another $90 visit. The dentist tried to convince me that it was not a cavity but a stain. As if this tooth is not inside MY mouth, as if I have not gradually noticed the cavity change, as if I wasn't in pain. Yet, the dentist just wouldn't even consider the possibility that they did a poor job! Spoke with another dentist about implants and boy oh boy, the treatment plan almost gave me a heart attack. They DO upsell a lot! They make suggestions on work needed when it's purely for aesthetics. Don't feel pressured, say no even if it means that going forward you will be treated differently. :) I did not have issues with scheduling but I did have an issue with paying up front without much of an explanation of how they came up with the charges other than an invoice that I had to interpret when I left the office. And I also had an issue when I requested that my records are sent to my current dentist, I got some attitude over the phone. They are definitely on the higher cost than other dentists, I know because I have compared. My current dentist will save me at least 3 thousand on implants. And my current dentist confirmed that that "stain" is in fact a cavity. 2 stars because, I don't really know. **smirk** read more

This is honestly, by far, the best dental practice I have ever been to. The entire staff is super friendly every time I go there and very helpful. But, I am most impressed by Dr. Tiffany Simon. She is friendly, caring, and thorough. Dr. Simon has come in on her day off on Saturday when the office was closed to help me my dental procedure. I had the misfortune of getting a dry socket, and Dr. Simon worked in me everyday after I got off work ( late hours) until I was healed. She is truly what we want all doctors to be, compassionate and caring, giving above and beyond the call of duty. The office is immaculate and designed beautifully. I liked Avery Ranch dental quite a bit. Their facility is beautiful. Everybody was super nice and professional. The dentist I had no problem with. The problem I did have was the cost. I'm a private contractor and we don't have dental insurance. I do however have the ability to pay in cash. But they don't give you any discounts for paying in cash. They don't give any discounts to people with no insurance. I guess that was the biggest reason that I could not continue to use them for my dental needs.While I was in the office I was given no less than three estimates on the procedures I needed. They were each more confusing than the next. This forced me to go out and price shop dentists. Of course I found one who could do it cheaper. I guess that's not really fair to them because they were the first one to give me an estimate. I was able to find another dentist who did a root canal for half the price. That's not really a reflection on Avery Ranch dental and their skills or office staff. I found all that to be quite nice but I just couldn't pay the price they were asking. Perhaps they need to reconsider how they treat people with no insurance because I left feeling like they just didn't care. So if you have insurance and you need your teeth taken care of and live in the area this is probably a really good place for you to go. But if you don't you might need to look around a little bit. read more

I guess Doctors are ok, but their appointment schedule is insane, almost 4 months between two deep cleaning because they are overloaded. I bet you are doing tone of money fitting more patients that you should, but having a patient with almost 25,000 in future expenses, do a deep cleaning in a period of 4 months and having to go half mouth only done because you cant have an appointment sooner it's very bad management. Even though they are now out of network, they continue to send me reminders to schedule my appointment. I've already been billed for a visit when they knew my insurance was no longer in network and couldn't be bothered to let me know. I agree with reviews saying they don't answer calls or return messages. The last time I was here, I arrived 20 minutes early and called them from my car to ask about Covid protocol, and of the 3 times I called, it went to vm all 3 times. When I went in for the appointment, I mentioned I had called and they just said, oh yeah, we're busy. There were literally 3 people sitting at the desk and no one else was up there except me. I had asked them during quarantine to find out about a dental form I needed filled out for my son, and they said they'd get back to me which they never did. And this last time I called to dispute my bill (the above situation) I was told someone would call me back the following week, but of course no one ever did. I just received the bill again today. I can only speak for those who experience a fear of the dentist. I visited ARD after relocating to North Austin. I made it clear at my intake and to the hygienist that I have a great deal of fear in regards to dental check-ups. I don't feel that they really took that feedback into account or perhaps they are not familiar/experienced with how to approach sensitive patients. This is the first time that I've cried in a dentist's office since I was a child. Dr. Lowery was pleasant though the interaction felt patronizing. I was told I had a great deal of expensive work to be done that I've since been told by other professionals is not necessary. All I can say to others who are phobic is that this experience left me dreading the next time I'd have to come back. If you are cool with dentists, I'm sure you'll have a decent experience. We've only been in the area for about 8 months, and needed to find a new dentist. I chose Avery Ranch Dental after driving by it very frequently and checking out some online reviews. While my interactions there were friendly, I felt like some aspects of the customer service left me unsure of my overall opinion. To be fair, I am probably quite critical when evaluating new places and it really is the little things that make a big difference for me. But, if you want my business, I don't think that's asking too much. I will say that up until last week I was quite undecided if I would go back or try a new place next time I'm due for a cleaning. FYI-- I find the appt confirmation to be overkill. Texts, emails, AND phone calls. Pick one. Admittedly, I didn't reply back to any of these but honestly, it was because I was so annoyed. But, I guess I can take the blame for this; maybe if I would've just responded, they would've quit bugging me. I had a routine dental exam/cleaning and check in was fine. When they called me back, the gal did not introduce herself (pet peeve when I've never been somewhere before and you are about to do work on me). She did my cleaning and eventually Dr. Burns came in. She was nice but spent less than a couple minutes (of my hour-plus appt) before telling me I needed 2 fillings. She did introduce herself when she walked in but from above/behind me since I was reclined in the exam chair, so I never even saw her face. Overall, this appt was okay but like I said, the little things left me unsure when my husband and asked if he should make an appt there. I returned a week or so later to get my fillings done by Dr. burns. The appt itself was as can be expected, not fun but not horrible. But, what hit me the wrong way this time was that they had me pay when I checked in, based on what they anticipated my insurance would cover. I'm not from around here so I don't know if that's how places typically operate here, but that was a bit off-putting to me. After the appointment, the assistant did tell me that they didn't end up doing everything that they anticipated so I likely paid too much. She went to check at the front, and rather than refund me then, they said they would wait to see how the claim comes back. Interesting. When I got home, feeling didn't return to my mouth by the time I went to bed. (My appt was at 4:00). So I didn't realize until the next day that there were some rough, jagged edges driving me crazy. My appt was the Friday before Labor Day, so of course they were closed for the long weekend when I called. No big deal, understandable. I left a message an expected a call back sometime in the next week. I waited the entire next week and never heard back, called again and left another message and still hadn't heard back after a couple days. Called a third time, and finally spoke to someone who was very pleasant and got me an appt with another dentist since Dr. burns didn't have any openings. So, back that overkill confirmation system... This time it was actually the day of my appt, and only a couple hours before. But, I got a text confirming (actually slightly different time than I was told on the phone... 2:20 rather than 2). Seconds later, I got an email confirming the same info. Then, within a few minutes my phone rang. I answered to tell them "I know, and yes I will be there." However, they were actually calling to move my appt back to 3. The explanation was understandable-- since it was with a different doctor than the one who initially saw me, he just wanted more time if needed so it didn't end up rushed. I'm fine with that, but why did you send me the TWO confirmations just MINUTES before calling me to change. Anyways... met Dr.Myhre who did my repairs. He and his assistant were excellent! He actually came around in front of me when introducing himself and shook my hand. He found a couple spots to fix and took the time to make sure it felt right to me. He also asked about my bite (which had felt off since my fillings but I didn't bring it up because I thought maybe that was normal after getting fillings). A couple quick fixes and after more than a week, my mouth and my bite were finally comfortable again! Dr. Myhre is the reason I will go back again. Finally gave up on this place. Everyone is friendly... but consistent upsell to spend 2-5k on dental work every visit for basic cleaning. One time level of pressure approached timeshare sales, was very uncomfortable and I didn't even qualify for a free trip to Vegas. Annoying things is they never once sent me me a teeth cleaning reminder even though it was scheduled, for years I always had to remember and call in for appointment myself. I saw Dr. Orlich on Feb 3, 2020 for a tooth lengthening after my crown had come off. He came to my regular dentists office. A few days after the proceedure, I was in extreme pain and getting worse. On closer examination, I realized that the stiches had come out and about an inch of bone was exposed. I don't believe there were enough stiches. I had the office manager call him while I held, but he told her that there couldn't possibly be exposed bone, that I had just slept on it wrong. He wouldn't speak to me or see me. I went online and found a dentist that would see me on a saturday. The new dentist told me the stitches had come out and there was exposed bone and I needed to go to the ER. It wasn't something he could take care of. Dr Orlich finally spoke with the new dentist and reluctantly accepted the diagnosis but still wouldn't see me. I never received an apology. I spent all day in the hospital on heavy medication. I was told I had dry socket, a very painful condition. I recently filed a complaint with the dental board. I was in excruciating pain for about a week because of his incompetence and negligence. I have never been around someone with so little empathy or remorse. I have a history of not trusting dentist offices because of several bad experiences. This time around when I needed some amalgam fillings replaced, I called a handful of offices to see how I felt about them and to get a price range. The reviews here looked too good to be true but they were recommended by two of my friends that had a good experience. Even though this was quite a drive for me it was completely worth it. The staff was very friendly and the dentist has great bedside manner. We went in thinking I would need two caps but ended up that she could salvage with two fillings.
