The track around the soccer field is a great place to run. Free from the worries of rolling your ankle on the uneven sidewalks and cars and bicyclist speeding by you. But there is still a fear of the ladies with the strollers running you over. Weekday mornings are obviously less crowded. But when it is crowded, most people are mindful of those who actually want to run instead of just walk. Parking is free and the track lights are on pretty late, I believe around 10PM. This is a great rubberized track. It's a little more than a quarter mile around. Probably like 400 meters. It's not the size of a typical track which has 8 lanes. This has more like 6 but it's still a nice sized track. The surface is excellent and the cushioning helps protect your knees when you jog or run. This is a great track for a workout. The gym is great too for basketball. The field is artificial grass which is neat. it has a lot of cushion to it. Lots of soccer and football practice done here. Oh and cheerleaders too. This place gets a lot of use which is also good for motivation. There's something about working out while other people are working out. Everyone moving in the same direction. There are lots of walkers too. Just wish they would learn to walk in the outside lanes and leave the inside lanes to runners. But oh well, it's still all good. And as long as you're out there trying to improve your health and fitness, that's a good thing. It's really popular right after work as the sun is starting to go down. There is a lot of parking and getting in and out is easy. They have lights and sometimes they come on when it gets dark. I think it depends on the field activities reserved. read more

This review is only on the children's (more for toddlers) outdoor park play area which is a small area near the Performing Arts Center and the Track/Soccer Field, which consists of a play area that's poorly designed, with seemingly dangerous hazards if you don't supervise your child (stay off the smart phones, and watch your kids!), with the corkscrew slide being easy to turn a child around to dive head first downward (as I witnessed!), and some of the steps being elevated unevenly to have a child lose their balance (which I also witnessed) and areas that are low enough to walk under but has obstructions that might make a child bump their head (which I saw too). It's a pretty small construction that I think might be overdue for replacement, expansion or even elimination (if it can't be done right, just get rid of it). Otherwise the area itself with the track and field (which on Yelp has it's own separate listing that garners it's own reviews) is nice. read more

I have been looking for a place with a track that is not on a community college campus and I have finally found it!! This place is a-may-sing! The track is very clean and easy on the knees, which is important. There are a lot of people in the mornings on weekdays but the track is never overcrowded. The lane farthest to the left is the 'fast lane' and is only to be used by those who are jogging/running--Please keep this in mind! Most importantly, parking is FREE and the faux grass is great for stretching, push ups, crunches etc., because you wont get dirty! read more

Love working out here. Very well kept track with plenty of parking and bathrooms. It's usually pretty packed (and there's always a soccer game being played), but everyone here is usually cool and there's always enough room to do your own thing. My girlfriend and I enjoy coming here and doing circuit training (sprinting the track, then drills in the grass). read more

I have mixed feelings about this place. I used to come on occasion years ago to train for running. It's that time again to start training so I decided to start my first day here. So the parking is somewhat big but I drove to the back side because parking was not available in the front. I happened to park next to a couple food truck, not sure if they are there all the time or just certain days. Now, true people don't come here to necessarily lose weight but I found very contracting to see trucks at the location. As I'm walking over I noticed that people are coming in and out of the track. Such as soccer players, cheerleaders, runners. Etc. As I started my work out I encountered some things that were bothersome. Obviously, people are not at the same pace as you. and I get it you want to work out as family or take the little ones. But it annoying having to run left or right when someone is in your way. Secondly, I believe three soccer balls came at me flying. I don't think this a safe place for me to get some training done, and honestly I prefer not to run around in circles. read more

I have a love / hate relationship with this track.... PROS: This park was renovated a few years ago and it's kept in great condition. The track is clay based, so it's easy on the ankles and knees, and really great for continuous running. It's free. It stays open late and has that super huge and bright stadium lighting. And, the parking lot is HUGE. CONS: Only one and it's not the flying soccer balls - dodging those can be fun! It's that the park has an intolerable amount of inconsiderate people. Between the people who WALK in the fastest track lane, the people who regard the lanes as guidelines and weave between 2-3 lanes as they gab on the phone or (and this one really gets me) the soccer fans who WATCH the game while standing on the track! COME ON PEOPLE! That would be the equivalent of me (a track user) standing in the soccer field during a soccer game! ... evil plan forming ... Pay back's a bitch people! read more

The track here is gorgeous, well kept and clean. The track itself is really nice to run on, and has a great "cushion" type surface to absorb shock while you're running or walking. I love to come here and run/walk with one of my best girlfriends....its really pleasant....and its nice to see different ages/families/etc intermingle on the field... This field is really nice too, and is always kept really well. What's really nice is its astroturf so if you're a player, spectator, cheerleader, or whatever....you can be assured that you will not get wet grass butt if you sit on it (unless its just rained of course). read more

It's never too late to get into shape, and this is a great place to do it. Once upon a time the Cheeseburger Whisperer found himself with a BMI in the obese range, filled with stress and fatigue, probably flirting with diabetes. Then he found this track and it bestowed him with the magical power to become fit and strong, and relieve him of all stress and worry. Okay, not really. It was more like a long, initially painful road counting calories, working out and running regularly which helped change things. Once my wife came home to the sound of her little girl crying, only to find her husband in a fetal position whimpering with hunger. Okay, more than once. Aviation Park did not give magical powers. But it did provide a clean, safe, convenient place to run, exercise and get in shape. It's a good change up from your gym since you are outdoors, and something about being outside really helps lift your mood. You can really mix up your routine, run for awhile, sprint, walk, drop onto the grass and do push ups/sit ups. I once got dizzy watching a guy running in really tight fast circles backwards. It looked a little funny, but hey, whatever makes him feel good. You get motivated because even though you might not know anyone there, you feel like you are part of a community of people who are trying to get healthier. If you have kids, you can bring them and there is a small playground near the track where they can play while you jog(my wife and I do this, taking turns watching the kids). Aviation Park will not change your life, but it can be a great place to help you with your health and fitness. read more

The Aviation Park track is the best free fitness place in the northern South Bay area. No annoying people, no hassles, just a bunch of legit folks getting some fresh air and exercise. It doesn't matter what your fitness level is, or if you are wanting to just leisurely walk or do a hardcore run. This track is accomodating for everyone. My favorite thing about this track is the ample parking and the excellent lighting. As a female, I would definitely feel safe coming here alone after dark because there are so many other people around playing soccer, etc. until about 9:30 or 10 pm and the lighting makes it bright as day. Of course be smart, but if you are looking for a free, safe place to work out -- especially in the winter when it gets dark at 5pm -- this is a good bet. read more

If you're looking for a great place to work out that has an excellent track, and indoor basketball gymnasium, and tons of outdoor grass and space and aviation park is an awesome choice. The track is Olympic size and very modern and up-to-date. I believe it was renovated in the last 10 years and it is well-maintained. The indoor basketball gymnasium is maintained a weekly. It has one full-size college regulation basketball court and a regulation volleyball court. It also has to typical grass and landscaping of a normal park that is well-maintained. There's plenty ample and free parking and it situated on the border of Manhattan Beach in Redondo Beach. Not to mention all of these amenities are FREE!! Will often fine groups of people working out together at aviation park since it is the perfect place to gather and do group workouts. Great place to work out, jog, run, walk, play soccer, play some flag football, or even just relax and enjoy the weather. I've been to this park for over 7 years now and it hasn't changed a bit. There is plenty of FREE parking and the field and track is always clean and motivating with people working out. It is located right next to the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center right off of Aviation Blvd and Manhattan Beach Blvd. The restrooms are clean, stocked up, and there is a snack bar located right around the corner too. There usually is alot of people here around the night because its cool and fresh outside but that isnt a problem. There is enough room for running, jogging, or even hitting a ball with friends. Aviation Park is GREAT. Aviation Park has a state of the art cork running track, a freshly sodded soccer field, a recreation park if you wanted to pack a lunch, a gymnasium for basketball and free parking. This park is located right next to the Aerospace companies in the South Bay, in the shadows of the South Bay Federal building and right next to the Redondo Beach performing arts center. This park gets quite packed on the weekends as it hosts a soccer league not to mention everyone in the area is off and use this park as their gym membership. If the parking lot fills up it can be quite tough to find parking. There is a Trader Joe's within walking distance if you wanted to walk over and pick up lunch, water, chips. It does help when you can plan ahead and not have to worry about where you are going to eat that day. This is a very chill spot and the only downfall in my eyes is that this park is right off of Manhattan Beach Blvd & Aviation Blvd, both streets have a heavy set of traffic but when in the right vibe you can tune all of that out quite nicely. Come and enjoy the South Bay and remember leave the park better than the way you found it. read more

Really cool turf field with a track around it. Soccer leagues play 7 days a week. Great to run around after work since they have lights on at night. It can get pretty packed at times. Plenty of parking. If you're trying to play here, it's better to join a league. There isn't enough space to do pickup games. It's $10 for the soccer card which is good for 2 years. A year ago I would have given this track 4 stars because of the flying soccer balls. Since then this park has been renovated with a new astro-turf field and nets behind the goals that stop those flying soccer balls. The mornings are a lot less busy. You'll see a lot of fit-minded people, boot camp instructors offering a free morning workout, and kids getting dropped off to attend soccer camp. Nights are a lot more busy. More fit-minded people and older soccer aficionados. If you get lucky, the cute ones will take off their shirt ... the cute men. Parking: free and located all over the park. I came here to watch my beau play soccer so i sat on the sidelines admiring the area. I live right by here and have ALWAYS said, oh yeah im totally going to go there for a run. Well, I have yet to actually run there. I will say this much, it looks like its a great place for running at least. The park is HUGE! its mainly just an astroturf field with a running track surrounding it. On the weekends there are soccer matches all up and down the field with refs and all. So its grass and turf, but why I've given this place 5 stars is beacuse of the parking lot. Yes, the parking lot. The place doubles as parking for the park itself and the performing arts center located right next door. Its usually mostly empty and the parking is free. But most importantly if you ever need to learn how to drive a manual, THIS IS THE PLACE! Although i still think that driving a manual is way too scary, i felt decent about trying it out in the parking lot here. It's kind of ironic. What makes this place so great is also its downfall. It's just too damn popular. Prior to the track renovation last winter, the track was a standard 8 lanes (now it's about 5?). Even when it was a wide 8 lane track, during evening hours this place was packed with all sorts of morons walking super slowly 4-5 across, or with strollers, or with small kids (and even dogs when the lights are off and no one can see you're breaking the rules). This is not a place for a real runner to go to during evening rush hour. I'm not even a real runner and I still found it super frustrating to move in and out of lanes trying to avoid the slow ass pairs of obese women gossiping loudly at an astounding 2.3 mph or just talking on the phone about the dumbest shit ever. Luckily I found a track way closer to me that has no of these lazy strollers and I can actually work out now. But if you go in the morning and afternoons I'm guessing this place is awesome. And for soccer it's definitely the place to be. read more

I've been playing in the basketball league here for several years now. There are 2 indoor gyms, one is used for the weekly adult league and the other for kids basketball and volleyball practice. There's also a weight room, an outdoor track and field. In the evening, the track and field gets packed with everyone working out and teams practicing. Horrible place that is unsafe . I signed up for a belly dancing class with an amazing instructor and within the first class I was shocked on how unprofessional and rude the staff was. My instructor was super great and was waiting with me for 5 minutes in the room because the class is in a poor lit corner which I did not know and it was freezing outside and I was waiting for my ride. She waited with me as a women that feels for another women in regards to safety. Within the first 5 minutes the rude security guard barged in saying class is over you guys need to leave NOW!!!!! your class ends at 8:30 acting like we're dealing drugs in there and keep in mind there was no other classes after nor was the gym closing. By m 8:45 the coordinator was on the phone He was THE RUDEST guy basically yelling at my instructor saying we need to leave now legit screaming at my poor distraught instructor. I felt horrible. I don't know what type of SUS things went down here but the staff here treat instructors and students like were jail inmates and have no respect nor regards for people's safety. I'M PAYING FOR THE CLASS ANS A SAFE ENVIRONMENT. The staff wouldn't be there if no body was taking classes they work for us, there not doing me a favor for being there.They keep saying we've never had any problems here in regards to safety. The dance room is next to a basketball practice filled with men which is fine but ITS PITCH Black when you get out and there is nothing on the other side. A random guy can pull up and basically abduct you and no one can see nor help you by the time you get to the parking lot around where the stadium is which is also so far and loud that nobody would be able to hear you. Such a shame that the STAFF here is so bad and disrespectful that I had to drop and otherwise amazing class. I will be taking her class elsewhere. The gym is old and gross looking anyways. Great place for a run. They have a track with five lanes and a large field for soccer. They always have a few games going on after work hours. Like that this park is full of action and people. Even the track area is pretty crowded. I usually run about four laps or so and I'm good. No hassle with parking. Plenty spaces available. read more

Its a great spot to get your run on or play on the artificial turf. Just watch out for pop warner football during the football season.

Any One interested in playing in a competitive 8v8 men's soccer league? It's one game a week, but it can land any day from Monday - Thursday 7pm -9pm. The games are about an hour long, and the league season has 15 regular games and 3 playoff games. The team does require a kits and that's 30 bucks, so the fee per player is about 160 if we have 10 players. The price will go down if we get more than 10 guys who are willing to commit. The league is located and plays exclusively at Rosecrans Recreation Center on 840 W 149th St, Gardena, CA 90247. I only have 3 weeks to put a team together, so get back to us ASAP read more

great track for walks/jogs/running...the evenings are the busy time especially if there is games going on....if you go early in the morning 6am there isn't a lot of ppl and if your lucky you get to see men in uniform that's just side note lol ....also its great because there is lights on till late usually there off by 10pm read more
