    AVID HOTEL

The AVID hotel appears to be new. It is clean, and the staff is friendly. Some of them seem to be new on the job, So they are only able to answer the most basic questions. The room is clean. There is only a shower in mine - no bathtub.

What a great hotel. It's brand new, super quiet and comfortable. Everyone that works here is so nice. We arrived very late, and Jayson made sure we had everything we needed plus gave us an extra hour to sleep in. It's located right off the interstate, which is convenient for a long road trip. We would definitely stay here again I love all the hooks in the room as well

Great, clean, simple hotel. No frills. But definitely a great value. Highly recommend.

It is self-entry, so no need to encounter folks on your way in. The suites are located in the back building. Although the walls/ceilings are a little thin, we heard very little during our stay. What a spotless bathroom! The lobby/foyer area of the suite building was nice and there was a coffee maker for you to help yourself. One little minor complaint would be the foam mattress isn't exactly my favorite, but it was very clean and I'm sure won't be a problem for most. But I slept okay, so I won't let it affect the rating. It is also an event space, and the serene countryside would be a perfect backdrop for a wedding. We will return again and I hope to find another quiet, clean, and pleasant stay.

They were very helpful, clear in their direction and easy to work with. The venue itself is the best in Staunton. The vibe/feel of the Banquet room just cannot be recreated in a modern hotel. We used simple decorations of balloon bouquets, trees with white lights and then allowed the room to express itself. It's a wonderful space! I would definitely use this venue again if I were hosting a party of any kind....reunion, work reception, customer appreciation....etc. Any where you want something special....this is your place!

The American Hotel Banquet Room was very easy to work with from afar. The first thing that pulled us to the Banquet Room was the cost. Compared to Northern Virginia prices, it was a steal! We also loved that we were able to bring our own alcohol, which saved us probably thousands of dollars. My husband and the groomsmen set up the room beginning at 9 am that morning and I was told that Gary was also excellent to work with. With everything being said and done, I absolutely would have paid more for the space because it was worth every penny. And we got a lot of compliments for picking the room, because it is very original and beautiful!

We appreciate the friendly staff as well. We got a room on the fourth floor which meant we had to take the elevator to the third (it only goes to the third) and then take the stairs up. Well worth it, because on the fourth floor you see spiral stairs up to a lighthouse-like structure on the rooftop. Expansive view. The room itself was very quiet, well insulated, modern bath, everything. The only drawback was the very low water pressure (maybe due to being on the top floor? or is it like this throughout the building?). Bed was very comfy though this "queen bed" definitely seemed smaller than usual. At night it got quite cold; we were told the air heating raises 1 degree per hour (several hours passed and, according to the thermostat, nothing changed). Luckily the front desk provided us with a portable heater. While Hotel 24 may be more convenient, situated just next to the Blackfriars Theatre, the Blackburn Inn (just a quick drive under the railway track) is a world onto its own.

The room was quaint but had no closet and the thermostat didn't work. The water pressure in the shower was very low and could barely rinse off the soap. The ability to park the car once and leave it for the couple of days was attractive. I couldn't be more pleased with our visit here. The Staff greeted us and was helpful throughout our stay, the historic building is beautiful and well maintained, the front porch has rocking chairs in a covered porch, and there's complimentary coffee in the mornings (and good coffee too!). The room isn't large, but is attractive, the bed was comfortable and the temperature controls worked well. There's a $15 breakfast buffet that we used once. It's typical eggs, potatoes, meats, yogurt, fruit, oatmeal/grits, and OJ. We went for breakfast a few doors down and spent $26 for 2 bagels and one coffee; I don't think this was an outrageous price at a nice hotel in a nice room with good service. There's an indoor pool that looked good, but we were busy and didn't get a chance to use it. The hotel truly is located in a great location. We ate within walking distance of a couple of good restaurants, and a few of the significant attractions are only steps away (although, be warned, the neighborhood is hilly!) The parking is $7.50 per night in a public lot attached to the building. They charge the parking to your room with in-out privileges.

The Hotel 24 South staff were around for any questions, super helpful and friendly, and made sure everything ran smoothly. I can only speak for my room, but I felt it was rather large and well laid out. The bathroom didn't have ventilation which made getting ready after showering a little unpleasant and smelt a tad musty/moldy but it's a historic hotel so let's temper our expectations. The breakfast offering was quite good, and included everything you could want (eggs, bacon, sausage, sausage gravy, fruit, granola, yogurt, pastries, etc.) so I was surprised to see other reviewers noting it wasn't good. That being said, had I been traveling not with a group I probably would've ventured out to a local coffee shop to see their offerings as that's my preferred method! Lastly, this hotel is super centrally located and made a great jumping off point to explore Staunton. We may look to host here again in the future and due to how easy it was, I look forward to it!

It's located in an old train station and if you are lucky you will be able to watch a train stop and pick up and drop off passengers. My friend had the apple and brie crepe. The chicken salad on this day was mayonnaise based with large chunks of chicken, celery, jalapeño, grapes, and light seasoning. I also, had the French onion soup which stole the show! Wish they offered two sizes. This one and a larger one. The station is very large and offers several areas to choose from for seating and it has counter service which is nice. I have supported this restaurant since they opened, and I came in to place a simple to-go order. A lady with long brown curly hair told me there was a 45 minute wait, and I politely told her that was completely fine. She then hesitated and told me, with an attitude, that she "wouldn't even be putting the order in for 45 minutes." I asked her if she was basically trying to tell me no, and she flat out said, "Yes that is basically what I'm telling you". I was genuinely shocked by how rude and dismissive the interaction was. What makes this even worse is that this is not the first issue I've had with this same employee. During a previous online order, she was passive aggressive and acted like she was "letting it slide" that I ordered a beef bourguignon supposedly meant for dinner only- even though it was literally available on the online ordering page with nothing stating that restriction. She somehow made it seem like I had done something wrong for ordering directly from the menu provided to customers, which I found incredibly off-putting and unprofessional. I completely understand restaurants get busy, and I had no issue waiting. The issue was the attitude, tone, and complete lack of respect shown toward a loyal customer who was polite and treated so poorly. Customer service matters, and unfortunately this experience completely changed my view of this restaurant.
