So... my main ride had to go back in for fixes and the shop paid for a rental during the repair. Jackie told me I'd have a standard rental... uhhm BBA I have not had an "economy" class rental vehicle in decades. You said standard. That's a RENTAL car class not an adjective. Ugh. Considering State Farm paid out like 17K to you guys based on MY selection of you. Really? I was gonna pay for an upgrade. Enterprise didn't have much available to upgrade to, so.. I was rescued from this horrid hellscape fate (aka a Toyota Corolla) by my HEROES Daniela (Hailee Steinfeld's tanner twin) and her manager Jeremy... who comp upgraded me! Whaaat...!!! So, I initially called my local elk Grove Village area location, which did not have the van I needed. Indicating that Palatine had the van, when I called, I got a name of someone who indicated it was acceptable to return it to the elk Grove village location, rather than drive all the way out to Palatine. The very first problem was trying to return it to the elk Grove location, which they indicated there was no room when in fact I pulled up literally five minutes later and there was about 25 spots available to park this regular size van at five minutes till closing. Subsequently, I got a notice on 3/6 that there was a violation with my pass not paying something on the 12th of February, which was within the contract. However, before I even left their lot on 2/12- I called I pass personally and projected it from the 12th at that time through the 17th, which I pass subsequently validated was correct upon my conversation this morning (3/11/25). Not giving me any time whatsoever to correct the problem on March 10, four days later, they hit my account for $40 and change to cover a $16 violation which was probably more like an $.80 violation. Plus, of course their processing fee, because they have to make money on top of making money on top of the contract, So they were able to make an additional $40 on the rental. As I looked through my records, this is not the first time they did this extra charge and I had to go around in circles to try to figure out the problem which as of this moment is not dismissed. I can say that this is Enterprize 100% because I pass validated it was under that plate for that duration of time. So this is the way that enterprise Rent-A-Car makes extra money by hitting their customers and then of course, when I called enterprise to try to resolve the situation, their system was down and indicated that they couldn't talk to me about it. How convenient. Next time I'm going to rent from Budget, which I have done an equal amount of times when my electrical business van went down, and have never had this problem before, only with Enterprize, back in 2024 with the identical situation. So one has to wonder is it the rent a company, or I pass? I would strongly suggest it's the rent a company which I won't be giving my business to anymore. read more

Had a really good experience at this Enterprise! My wife rented a pickup truck for my daughter and I to drive to St. Louis for a college visit. She got a great rate, so I figured we'd end up with a 2012 white work truck : ) Before I ever set foot on their car lot, Enterprise sent me a text that allowed me to check in, and answer all the usual rental car questions in advance. So when I arrived, everything was streamlined, except my truck wasn't ready. But in all fairness I did show up about 30 minutes early. Anyway, here's the best part - my truck was a Ford F-150 Platinum with less than 2,000 miles. I'm not making this up! It was a fantastic truck for the price, and we will DEFINITELY use Enterprise next time we need a rental : ) read more

Worst Rental Car Place Ever. The person who took care of our rental was RACIST. We ordered a car 4 days prior to receive at 4 pm last Friday. We didn't get the car till 5:45 pm! Everyone else after us got their car before us, we were the only people of color, why weren't we served first??! We didn't even get the car we ordered, we wanted a sedan, and we were told no cars were available and he gave us a BMW, with a comment that's he's giving us a "Very fancy car", not the one we ordered. We tried it and we did not like it as it didn't have the space for the people in the car and not the car we ordered. You know what he responded "What? Too fancy for people like you?" We are paying you to give us a car and treat us well. Not paying to get treated like SHIT and undermined because we are people of color. Acting like we've never owned a BMW BEFORE! God Awful Place! Fire the guy with the man bun and his awful and terrible service, I hope no one gets treated like us, ever. read more

This was our second time renting with Enterprise and both of our experiences were great! The first time around we had one of those newer RAV4's. We enjoyed it so much that we wanted to request the same car for our next trip. We were told that there weren't any guarantees but they'd make a note of our preferences. Jeremy and his team came through! There was another RAV4 waiting for us for our second trip! This place is a scam. They have no idea of what a reservation means. They will take your reservation but not actually keep the reservation. If they have a car, it's on a first come first serve basis. Calling ahead doesn't matter. I can't speak to other enterprise locations but I would not recommend renting a car from this location ever. read more

Had to have my car serviced by Nissan down the street for about 10 days (warranty wait, service, etc) and rented from this Enterprise as they were closest. They were top-notch from day one to 10. I had to call quite often to keep extending the contract until my car was repaired and they were so kind and understanding about it. Great service, attitude, and welcoming personalities. Patrick, Sarah and I didn't catch the young man who gave me a courtesy ride back to Nissan after I turned in the car, were all really awesome. I don't always take the time to write comments but in this day and age where COVID has made so many people difficult, impatient and rude, I wanted to take time to mention how I really appreciate great character and attitude. Also, upon returning the car today (Saturday), it was quite busy and they were kind, patient and efficient with everyone in the room. I usually go to the Enterprise in Barrington but this location is really great, as well. read more

Update: they refunded us the money. The area manager reached out to me with her personal cell and I called the bank this Morning, they are refunding us the owed money. Still 3 stars because of the hassle and nfs fees we still incurred. Horrible experience. They have you leave your credit card on file. Fine. We had our rental for almost a month, until my insurance would no longer cover it. We called the store multiple times to make sure we had no balance due. EVERY TIME they told us we were all paid up, just drop off the keys and the would owe us our deposit. We did, the again said we owed nothing, and they owed us our deposit back, great, but no..the following day we received a charge from them for $360, no phone call, just an unauthorized, unethical charge to our bank account. I called the following day, was passed around till I finally was put on a 3-way call with their credit card department and the store manager, Jeremy. After a lot of explaining and excuses from the manager, it was agreed that we would be refunded the $360, which left our bank account in the negative by hundreds of $$$. I even called back later that day, spoke again to Jeremy who assured me that he processed the refund. Over a week later I am waiting to hear from their corporate office because they NEVER issued the promised refund. I had to request they listen to the calls, (as they are "recorded for quality assurance"). We canceled our card so they can no longer charge us without notice. The palatine location has a manager who is a scammer and a liar. Will NEVER USE THEM AGAIN! I caution anyone against using that location. Still unhappy, management should be fired for unethical practices. read more

I have rented vehicles here several times over the past several months and have had nothing but a great experience. They do a great job of providing a very comfortable and safe environment while adhering to covid safe protocols. All the while not sacrificing customer service. Dave is amazing. I will NOT even think of renting elsewhere as long as Dave is at this location. Dave remembers me by name and remembers my preferences, as if I'm some big shot repeat customer, which I'm not (well I am a repeat customer) and Dave is a big reason why. My experience working with the guys in this office was very positive. They were very nice, considerate, and helpful. I was picked up from my auto body shop. It was my first time making a reservation and the guy helped me through the process making it easy. He didn't try to sell me unnecessary things, was very up front and straight forward. It was a very honest and courteous transaction. I accidentally passed tolls one day, en route to Chicago, and had forgotten my i-pass in my car, but it turns out Enterprise makes paying the tolls very easy! Damil gave me the info about paying the tolls over the phone. Again, it was courteous and considerate. These are great guys and they really took the burden off me being a first time renter. Horrible service!! Went in to rent a car and the guy had me sign to release the vehicle. I told him I did not want the insurance and he charged me for it anyways. When I called to resolve the issue zero help was provided. I guess that's how they make their money by lying to customers and charging you for it anyways. Two weeks ago same kind of experience. I was in an accident and rented a car through my insurance. Enterprise said my out of pocket was 33.00. Returned the vehicle and the guy says your total is 93 and change. They told me the rest was for tax. Apparently another way to steal from customers. RIDICULOUS!!! read more

Least customer friendly and argumentative staff I have seen. Ben (and another) were trying to defend why they could not keep the promise they had made when I picked up the car. Instead of apologizing and asking how they could make it better, they tried to justify why they could not keep their word. Besides that, they gave me a car with so little fuel that the fuel warning light went on after driving the car 5 to 10 miles out of their lot. And the car smelt of cigarette smoke from the previous renter. When I told them they should learn customer service from their competition Ben said they were doing way better than their competition. I would not give them the one star that I did (but there is no quarter star). Just a terrible experience. read more

This is the worst place to rent a car. The car ran out of gas (our fault) and when we called for help, the customer service rep was rude and hung up on me. My son (the driver) called customer service and they hung up on him too. We couldn't get anyone to help him so he was forced to leave the car where it was. The car was towed by the village because it was blocking a driveway. Enterprise picked it up from the tow yard the next day and charged our credit card $482.00 for tow fees! I called the Palatine location multiple times to get an explanation of the charges and Ben, the manager, kept hanging up on me. I called the customer service number 4 different times and was told I would receive a call back, never happened. I called the regional manager for the Palatine location, David Carney, 3 times; he never called back. This the worst customer service I have ever received in my life. Enterprise upper management needs to get out in the field and see what's happening in their locations. read more
