    Returned the car full tank but this location today still charged me $46 fuel. I've got the gas station receipt. this is so horrible - never had any issues with other American car rentals, go with Hertz or Budget. Don't do Avis.

    Is that how they clean their cars during COVID?

    Their cars are not cleaned. They never give us the car type we reserved this happened twice but this time they don't even tell until we see the car. Furthermore we found the price was also overcharged for the new car which we didn't reserve. When we asked them to change they said no sedans left, and we just saw our next customer got sedan type. Furthermore they told us to switch the car they had to charge extra, then we found they did even we took the SUV they offer. And due to COVID there's a long line to wait for 1 hour to get the key, they don't even explain they change our reservation. Just told us to this is the contract and sign. Everything is unreasonable. And guess what, they DO NOT HAVE CUSTOMER SUPPORT LINE TO REPORT. So only thing I can do is to warn this.

The only things to note: 1) They don't have access to gas, so the gas tank was less that full; 2) The outside of the car could have been washed beforehand; 3) Especially if your driving less than 75 miles, keep your receipt for filling up the tank to show when you drop off the car, otherwise there's an automatic charge for gas that is likely larger than what you paid for the gas. Definitely, I'd rent from this Budget again.

    Bad experience with Enterprise in October 2025 detailed below…read more I live in Colorado. Prior to arriving in New York, I lost my physical credit card. My new card did not arrive in time for my trip. Understand that it's standard for most car rentals to not accept Apple Pay / cash. However, Enterprise made it very difficult to work around this. This location accepts debit cards, but NOT from out of state customers. They said I could call a friend and have them put their card down and I could still rent the car without them in the vehicle. Luckily I did have a friend nearby and he came. However when he tried to use his physical credit card with their payment system, it would not work. So not only can you not use ApplePay, even physical cards sometimes don't work? They then told us that he couldn't use his debit card if he wasn't going to be in the rental car with me. I had to call a second friend to try their physical credit card, which luckily worked. Was stuck in their building for ~2 hours. Service also stinks in their office, so I had to exit into the garage / go downstairs to even communicate with my friends to come. The car they provided also smelled like cigarette smoke - even after they cleaned the interior. They let me take it without cleaning the outside since I was in a time crunch but would have expected the interior to not smell. The front desk lady I spoke with was nice but horrible experience overall - namely caused by their debit card policy and wonky technology. Won't be back to this location.

I had an insurance and an umbrella I rent cars all the time and he gave me a lesson on insurance, I let him talk but considering then he took 45 mins to figure out the computer / car situation, he should have spared us the lecture retrospectively. His colleagues had no issue with computer and were nice. There was barely anyone in the store. The attitude, lack of apology was unusual. He threw the keys at us literally did not show us the car told us that was the one left. Terrible experience. Really not happy about it. No the service we are used to. If he is so bored he should be doing something not involving customer.

Reservations online was easy but the limits are exclusive that's, you cannot use or input your own insurance to waive theirs, nor change your reservations once it's locked in. The staff seems to lack the training to accommodate customer requests for small changes and seemed unable to modify anything from their end. Prices are reasonable, of course if you consider the NY landscapes and the location is just perfect however. Calling their customer service number is a nightmare cause no one picks it up, good luck on that. So, since I wanted extend for the second day, I have to go back to the station to ask for the extension. Guess what, the agent went for his break and I have to wait for an hour for him to come back? Really unprofessional! Having this opportunity allowed us to leave NY and head to Albany for the first day and Long Island for the second. Returning was easy, drive in and the security person will take the car and check you out, done. However, the security guard asked for a TIP for his work. I'm not a cheap guy but with a very disturbing and unprofessional experience, I felt this rental agency did not deserve a too from me. We made our reservation over three weeks ago, and when we arrived at the first location (Warren Street, Downtown NYC), we were told there were no cars available. Instead, they tried to give two women a pickup truck -- in New York City. I don't drive pickup trucks. On top of that, the staff at that location were among the rudest and anti women, men I've ever encountered. We were then sent to another location on 54th Street Uptown, the next day, where we waited for nearly two hours, and some people had already been waiting three hours or more. Ultimately, we lost our vacation and travel plans due to your company's complete lack of organization and professionalism. Avis, I expect to be reimbursed not only for the transportation costs I incurred while attempting to retrieve a vehicle but also for the financial and emotional cost of a ruined vacation.

DO NOT rent from them under any circumstances. I feel so sorry for the staff working there because it is obviously not their fault that this company does not function whatsoever, but I am sure they get the brunt of frustrated customers every day. We reserved a car for 11:30 am, were told there were no cars and would probably not be for a couple hours. No other information was provided. Eventually, and only after telling them repeatedly that if we didn't leave by 1:00 pm we would miss a wedding, they transferred us to another location Hertz to get a car. This did not seem to be an isolated issue. There were 9-10 other people on the wait list for us waiting that long for their cars. It's cheap but it seems it's a 90% or more chance this will happen. In the future, I would pay $100+ more just to not deal with this company. Santos and Elizabeth who were working there were helpful in finding a solution and it was obvious that this is not in their control. They deserve a better employer and customers deserve a least some semblance of reliability from a car rental company. Main point: Don't rent from them, and if you absolutely have no other choice, leave yourself a 4 hour buffer minimum or you won't make it where you are going
