There is always at least 7-8 people waiting on one clerk who shows no emotion, care or concern. Piss poor attitude and at least a 20 min wait to get a car that was reserved a month in advance. The vehicle selection is also lack luster - save yourself the annoyance and dealing with careless bafoons and rent from Enterprise instead. Oh almost forgot - expect to find boogers on the inside of the windshield in your "cleaned" car. Rented a 7 passenger SUV 7 months before family vacation. Arrived when app said car was available for Pickup to then be told they gave our SUV away. The rude agent at counter whom could have cared less then said here we found you a car. Great ! Oh but hold On the SUV that was given to us was not cleaned at all Inside and had a ton of body damage. So needless to say we are driving in to our vacation with a flapping rear bumper and I had to clean the whole car myself. Avoid this location and Avis in general. read more

Mavis Davis went to Payless, bought some shoes and she paid way less, then she asked me where the rave is, I said no clue, let's rent from Avis! I rent cars from here all the time because I don't like to drive to other cities in my own car, which is getting older and needs to be saved for tours. It's nice trying out lots of different cars each time I go away, and if you book online, it's pretty cheap too. I really like Avis, they are one of the few major car companies that will let you rent with a debit card instead of just a credit card, and their cars are often really fantastic. I did have some problems with the Philadelphia office once, and then I had to argue at length at this office to try not to be overcharged for various things that Philly was trying to "rip us off" over, after one of their tires went flat. Because of all this drama, and because it took a good 45 mins to sort out (when it was completely AVIS' fault), I have to mark them down to a 4. But other than that, they have been awesome to work with, and cheap, and never really given me any problems. The people at this Airport office are not as friendly as the people at the Sheridan office but it's still the best place to rent a car, probably. Update: the company are now being absolutely insane and trying to get me to pay for a flat tire which has always been "on the house" in the past. Counter agent incredibly rude. Only one working and didn't want to be bothered to deal with customers -- he was slouched back looking at his phone. Got an attitude with me because I declined collision insurance because my company pre pays for it at the time of reservation tried to tell me it "didn't count" and I needed to buy it from him as well. Also tried to upcharge me for a larger vehicle even though I reserved a small one (needed a small vehicle for my work that day). This is the largest Avis pick up in the area, and sometimes the cheapest as well. Its at the airport, they have a lot of cars. The airport counter is next to Hertz, and the car pickup, one level below the counter, is also located centrally. The people working here are nice. I have an Avis Preferred membership. On Saturday April 13th I rented a car to be picked up at 11:00 pm and returned the next day at 11:00 pm. I reserved the car online and chose the PAY NOW option so the car was paid for in ADVANCE. I returned the car the next day at 9:00 pm - 2 hours early. No one was there to check the car in and the sign said to complete the agreement and drop it and the keys in the drop box. On the agreement I indicated that it was returned at 9:00 pm and that I had filled the car with gas and it was on FULL. I received my receipt by mail today and was absolutely shocked to see that Avis Buffalo Airport charged me a one day late return fee and $14.99 for gas. This even though I indicated that the car was returned on time with a full tank of gas. They intentionally disregarded what I noted on the form and charged me fees I did not incur. This is FRAUDULENT. I called Avis National and the fees were refunded but I will never ever use AVIS Buffalo Airport again. They are dishonest. read more

Advised this didn't fulfill my needs counter help was cold just quoting company policy and not caring that they were sticking with a vehicle that was not an SUV or similar. Went down to Garage to get vehicle it was pure chaos people running around and luggage everywhere. Waited 15 minutes with my wife and a screaming toddler which felt like about 2 hrs. I was floored by how bad the service was as a whole. I've used avis 3 times before and every time it was exceptional. I think i'll be moving on to another company for my next trip. Worst car rental experience ever. I am an Avis Preferred member and usually use my app to quickly get my car when arriving at an airport. The app told me to go to the preferred booth. There was no one at the booth and was told to go to the main counter. When I got there there was no preferred line just one line with about 40 people in front of me. I got in line and after over in line did get assigned a car. The clerk told me my car would be waiting for me downstairs. When I got there no car, just another line of people waiting for cars. Most saying they would never rent from Avis again. I would agree. Upon returning my car 3 days later still another mess with no one checking in cars and no where to even park the returned car. Security just said leave the keys in the car and just park wherever I could find a space. Terrible service. Corporate Avis definitely needs to look into the very bad situation at Buffalo Airport. Good service at counter--they stayed up late when a flight was late coming in. But the only minivan they rent is dodge caravans, a shitty, cheap minivan. It's very uncomfortable. My husband and I are regulars with Avis. We typically use them 6-8 times per year. NEVER once have we needed a major credit card to rent a car. We were told they just recently changed their policy a few weeks ago yet the policy on the wall says otherwise. I would not be so angry had we been treated like humans however the kid behind the counter was incredibly rude and nasty to my husband. He called my husband belligerent and threatened us with airport security when we pointed out the policy on the wall. We easily could have brought a major credit card had we know but since we never needed it in the past and have plenty of money in our ATM account we didn't bring it. When I arrived the rental clerk was extremely friendly, that was very welcoming since this was our first time visiting the Buffalo/Niagara area. She was helpful in recommending places to visit & restaurants to check out. Our car was clean & in good condition, Overall we were very pleased with our first impressions of the Avis. That is why I gave them 2-stars. When we brought the car back, thats where Our pleasant experience ended. I had booked & prepaid for the car via Priceline for 3 days. Picked up the car Thursday & returned it Saturday. On the way out, I double checked my receipt, Good thing I did, Avis had charged by an additional $200+ on top of what I had prepaid. The clerk wasn't very helpful & insisted the car was due back in the morning, however my agreement was to return the car in the afternoon. He keep trying to explain to me that Thursday-Saturday was more then three day & that justified them charging me $210 for an "extra day" It made absolutely no sense & I didn't have time to argue- I had a flight to catch!! As soon as I returned from my vacation I made a formal complaint with Priceline & thankfully they investigated the issue & a week later I was refunded my Money back. Minus $19- Money hungry Avis says I returned the car not full of gas & charged me, Despite my exist receipt that clear say it was returned full. Both times I have rented from Avis this month, I have had issues. Getting RIPPED OFF by the Buffalo location & the 2 hour wait for a car at the Boston Logan location. Cheap rental rides!! Avis car rental has been a good place to rent from - from previous airports. With that said, I had found a decent deal a few months before my travels to Buffalo Niagara international airport. Found on Priceline.com, it was a gorgeous deal that had to be snagged! At $23/day, such a price was always great to be had. While I am not an Avis car rental loyal member, I usually try to find the lowest rates and rent from them. The entire experience was very good and I would recommend it to anyone who needs a dependable rental car experience, but need a deal. Search Priceline.com or kayak.com, and Avis.com for the best pricing. The pick up process was good and I was on my way within 15 minutes upon arrival. This Avis car rental location is located at the Buffalo Niagara international airport. The great thing about this regional airport - other than being served by Delta airlines, is that the car rental facility is next door to the terminal. No shuttle required. The pick up was quick, as there was no line. The agent who assisted me was professional and helped me get into a red Chevy Cruze that drove smoothly and flawlessly. I enjoyed this car rental experience and hope to rent from Avis down the road soon. I had the LDW insurance coverage, which was about $20/day. Along with the EZ Pass for tolls, it was a budget friendly rental that was sure to enhance my travel experience by renting with Avis. The car itself was clean before I got it. No nicks or dents before I drove it across the US / Canadian border for a quick trip to Niagara Falls. Then a few days in upstate NY before returning it back here after 7 days. I had horrible experience with Avis at Buffalo airport. They issued a car with bald tire & it got flat. Tire workshop refused to repair as it is illegal to drive a car in this condition. Avis has put myself & my family life at risk. I called up Avis & the emergency assistance support asked me to pump air to flat tire & drive another 50 miles to nearest avis center for car exchange. I called up customer care many times but no response & they don't take any responsibility for cars issues and all the hardship customers had to undergo for faulty vehicles...I strongly suggest not to opt Avis Rent a car. read more

I chose pick up time 9:30am and drop off time 2 days later at noon. When I checked my confirmation email my drop off time was changed to 9:30am. I tried to modify my reservation to change my drop off time and I was going to be charged over $100 more for my reservation. I searched all over the website and found an answer that said if you return your car within 24 hrs of drop off you won't get charged so I was relieved. I called an agent to triple check and they told me I would get charged an entire additional days reservation (for less than 3 hrs of additional time) because it wasn't within 24 hrs of the pick up time (9:30am) the day prior. I can't change my pick up time due to my flight and can't keep my drop off time due to my flight. Absolutely horrible policy that is very unclearly defined that 2.5 hrs of additional time on the reservation constitutes and entire days price. I will not be renting from Avis ever again! read more

Overall efficient checkout experience, vehicle, customer service, and price point but the reason for three stars is that Avis renter is a car that was covered in mud. There was mud all over the windshield, drivers, and passenger side windows. It was bad, we wanted to go to a car wash immediately when we left the rental garage. Rented a car at Buffalo on 07/13/2019. Rental agreement no 444789155. The car was so dirty from inside there all kind of stuff lying over in the car, it was late night around midnight so did not notice all these things, but the worst part was there was a empty soda can under the driver seat and while driving it rolled and got stuck under the brake pad, I was driving on highway towards Toronto, fortunately it was late night so their was not much traffic on the road, I was able to pull over and remove the can. Relatively smooth experience - I like that the rental cars are walking distance (right across) from the regular terminal so you don't need to wait for a shuttle or anything like that. OK I know it just a rent a car location, but I rent a lot of cars for business and let me tell you it's no easy task to get it right. I usually rent from Avis and my results are mixed. For example, I love the International Falls Avis, but my experiences at San Fran and Ft. Lauderdale are among the worst. The Buffalo folks are top notch. First, the rental location is just a short walk across from the terminal (important with the family). Second the staff was helpful and engaged. I'm sure this isn't easy considering the numerous coupons, deals and promotions that they have to deal with. And finally, my car was what I asked for and ready when we walked out there. The personnel dealing with the return was the problem. Summary: They don't know where I should park the car (in their small return area) on return. It's their place, it's their cars, they should tell me here where to park. One extremely rude employee kept telling me, "you can't park here". Well then tell me where to park. Instead of resolving the issue by trying to find an area to park, it was "you can't park here" 15 times. Again, ok, where do I park? Getting the car, we waited at the empty counter for 5 minutes. Waited at the neighbors counter to ask and the Avis dude shows up. He's cool and friendly. No problems. When we returned the car, follow the directions to Avis car return. Follow the hand gestures made by the employee to park near the end of other cars. Then an employee driving a car in the opposite direction tells me, I cannot park here. Ok, then where do I move the car? He looks around talks into a walkie talkie and tells me to just backup 10 feet. Then suddenly this extremely rude employee (employee number 3 so far), yells at me "you cannot park here". Ok, where do I park? You cannot park here. The first guy waves at me to park here. The second guy tells me to back up 10 feet. Then you tell me I can't park here. Where do I park? It's your return lot. I followed the signs and verbal directions from the first 2 people. This is a joke, went on line and rented a Ford F 150 crew cab or similar. When I got there no Ford F-150 so they said similar was a Nissan Frontierwith 4 doors. I was stupid enuf to try. While driving this small truck, it's low seating, no automatic seat adjustments, basic 1960 style uncomfortable seat , thin cushioning , felt like I was in a triumph. Low to ground . No car mats , filthy grey carpets, lots of miles ( 31,000 plus) lousy tires, no spare. Filthy stained front seat. I'm surprised it had automatic windows. Small bed and not deep either. Windows dirty, radio set to Rap , dirty dash. I drove this to my house , my wife came out and gave me a dirty look grabbed my ear lobe and asked if I'm nuts. I must be! We have rented through Avis in the past, but decided to go with another company (Hertz) this time around because of a coupon we found. Unfortunately, Hertz ended up being a nightmare and we did not receive the car we reserved in advance. We ended up canceling our Hertz reservation and decided to see what Avis could offer us. The girls at the Avis counter asked us what price Hertz was offering, and they were able to match it for us for the same week long rental. Plus, they were able to upgrade us to a better car class for no additional charge. The entire process at Avis was very smooth and took less than 15 minutes, which is key when you are preparing to leave for vacation! At this point I have been waiting in line for 30 minutes with people still ahead of me. I booked a car at this location but my flight was delayed. I arrived after the hour. But when I rushed to the counter, a lady was waiting there, with. Smile on the face. The check in process was simple. When I noticed a dent on the back door of the car, the lady happily took note of it on the contract. I drove away within 10 minutes. I booked a intermediate car but was upgraded to a full size Nissan Altima. The car was new and ran well. It also had a back up camera. Return was easy too. I rented a car from Avis on the Tuesday before Thanksgiving. I work from home and also work part time as well. So when my truck needed to be serviced I needed to rent a car. I picked the car up around 7 pm, which by the way had been terribly cleaned, the windows were so smeared I barely could see! Anyhow, I drive home and park the car, by morning I had to take my Granddaughter to the sitter but the tire pressure light was on! Had to find a ride for her! On my work break I took the car and put air in the tires before that I checked the tire pressure one was low, I added air. I went back to work, while working I called Avis to report issue! By lunch time the tire pressure light was back on. I called the roadside assistance number provided by Avis, I asked would I be charged, I was told no. I decided I did not want to ride on a donut so I called Avis again and ask could I return this car in exchange for another with no hassle and was told yes. I was upgraded for my inconvenience because I also had to Uber my daughter to her appoint as well! Now I'm getting emails stating I'm being charged $220 for the roadside assistance!
