My insurance company set me up with the Enterprise in Libertyville and my first time renting a car went so well. Jeremy was so helpful and made renting my car so easy. The agent confirmed that there was pickup from Libertyville to Lincolnshire to meet my need which was pressing. Information was given. The reservation was confirmed with the statement that the pickup driver would call shortly in advance of pickup. The agent sent a confirming calendar text. This was all set for a 1:30 p.m. pickup. At 1:45 p.m. I called to find out why I had no call or pickup. The person answering the phone said that the pickup was not in the 'notes', but that there would be a pickup shortly. Asking what 'shortly' meant, the agent said immediately. Shortly, the agent called to say they could not pickup due to the fact that it exceeded their zone (by a bit). I asked what the discrepancy was: they were showing a 15-minute drive, not 10. Doing the math, this was an extra 10 minutes of driving. I asked to speak to a manager. One definition of a manager is someone who has the authority to approve actions that may differ from the minutiae of operation. After being put and held on hold for 10 minutes (with canned messaging - see some details below), I hung up, called back and asked to speak to the manager. Shane. I described what had transpired to Shane. I said given what transpired that 5 minutes should not be problematic. That a manager could authorize that. He said he would not alter it. As I complained, he hung up. Before he hung up, I told him that I had been listening to the canned message (it was on a one-minute loop or so, so that meant hearing it about 10 times). The message was that Enterprise provided a great experience, that they went the extra mile for the customer and that they put the customer first. Not so. I asked Shane for his last name. 3 requests. Each time he declined saying Shane, manager, with no last name. As I complained, he hung up. In reading Yelp reviews on this facility which I did not do beforehand, I see where a customer had a very unhappy experience with a Shane. Probably the same guy. 'Manager'.

    ***Kyle Stephans is the worst Hertz manager on the Planet. Period***…read more I never write posts, but the experience Kyle provided me today definitely warrants one... On Friday August 12th 2022 at 1130am I picked up a scheduled full size rental. The associate (Domenick) pulled a Jeep Cherokee out of the back and pulled it up to the front. As he was getting out of the car, he mentioned that he needed to put air into the back drivers side tire. With the assistance of his co-worker Austin, He put in 40 psi. I thought nothing of it and left with the car. the next morning at 730 am I went outside and the back rear drivers side tire was completely flat (out of air). I attempted to call the Hertz location but was unable to get a person on the phone. I thought they must be closed on the weekends. On Monday August 15th at 10 am I went back to the Hertz location in person to explain the situation and exchange the car for one that is functioning correctly. Domenick was not working this day so I spoke to the Manager, Kyle Stephans. I explained what occurred and Kyle wasn't remotely interested with hearing what occurred. He just chimed in immediately saying "you are going to have to pay for a new tire since you cannot prove that the nail was in the tire when i pulled off the rental lot". I saw Austin while there, and asked ifhe remebered the event that occurred that Friday when he had to assist Domenick with filling my tire and he said "Yes". But, Kyle didn't want to hear it. After a bit of back and forth, I asked for his name (up until this point I didn't know Kyle was his name) and he said he doesn't give his name out and turned his back to me a walked out of the store and into the lot. At that moment, another associate was walking toward me and walked by me and opened up a drawer in one of the cubicles. He handed me a business card with Kyle Stephans (Branch Manager) on it. I was FLOORED that the manager was the one treating me with such poor professionalism. I walked out of the office and called my credit card to file a dispute as well as called Hertz Corporate which is reversing my charges!!! I rarely leave reviews, but this particular situation was so appalling that I felt obligated to let the world know how bad of a Manager/Associate/Human-being Kyle Stephans is!!! Stay away from this location... Trust me!!!

    Please be cautious when renting from this location. We recently rented a vehicle from 7/31-8/6…read more When we returned the vehicle, we received our receipt with the original amount we had paid, 20 minutes later we received a separate receipt with a $450 "miscellaneous" fee added. When we called the location to inquire what the charges were for the employee stated they found pet hair "deep within the seats." The employee stated they have a strict no pet policy and that is why we were charged a fee. We informed the employee that we did not have any animals in the vehicle nor do we own a pet, therefore the hair could not be from us. The employee then changed their story and stated there were crumbs on the floor and that was what the fee was for. The employee stated we were to bring the vehicle back fully detailed in the condition that it was given to us. We asked for pictures of said pet hair and received two blurry images of carpet telling us to zoom in to see "nonhuman white hair." It is unclear if we are being charged for "pet hair deep within the seats" or crumbs on the carpet since the employees at this location continue to change their story on what the charge is for. Either way a $450 fee for crumbs or hair is outrageous and unjust. We have been loyal Avis customers for years, have rented from numerous locations in different states, and have never been asked to have the vehicle fully detailed before returning. We returned the vehicle in great condition with a full tank of gas, as required. When we reached out to corporate, the representative stated that Avis would run an investigation but ultimately it would be the word of the Gurnee Avis location against ours. The representative stated that if Gurnee Avis employees decide to say it is pet hair that Avis corporate will take their word and we will not be refunded the $450 charge. We are extremely disappointed in how this was handled. If you see this review, please use a different Avis location or another company for your rental needs.
