Very easy process to pick up and drop off the car. Rented the vehicle through priceline and got an excellent rate for a compact. I asked Brad how much for a upgrade to full or mid size and gave me the difference per day ( 5 day rental ). I declined because money is a little tight, but Brad gave me a full size vehicle for the same price. I really appreciated his generosity and will definitely be back for any future rentals. read more

NO! DON'T DO IT! I came to write my negative review after my experience at this Avis location in Pasadena. After seeing the other horrible reviews on here, I can confirm they are real. First off their office is dirty and the people unfriendly and very unprofessional. They had the TV blasting and the counter person just sitting in a dirty chair next to the TV in the waiting area in his flip flops. I stood at the counter for a bit trying to figure out who works there, then he casually gets up not saying much and goes behind the counter. I started getting bad vibes from this place. The back parking area didn't have any clean cars and it looked gross with an old leather chair for smoking in the parking lot. The car we were given was disgusting! It wasn't vacuumed and the carpets and seats filthy. There were candy bar wrappers on the floor and a used plastic food container. The car had dents and scratches all over it. How is this place even in business? If you are brave enough to rent from here, check your rental car carefully and take photos and bring gloves and disinfectant. read more

It's hit or miss: some days are fine, but other times, the car is in awful condition (think foul smells, leftover tissues, and even an open Coke can). Avis, this isn't rocket science. Get your act together. Customers shouldn't have to gamble on whether their rental will be clean and properly documented. I expect better for the price paid. read more

This place is next level bad service, Tuesday September 10 at 12:27 I was on my lunch break and drove in to make a reservation for a pickup for Friday, I walk into this location AND IT IS ALL ON CAMERA, nor can you make this up, lol, I walk in there is no one at the desk, just a guy sitting on the couch and on his phone, I walk in and stand at the front desk right next to him and he doesn't say a word the who time after a minute I crack a joke thinking he is a customer and say, hey do you work here and to my surprise he says YES BUT IM ON A ZOOM CALL, and shocked I was like ok, then he goes give me a EFFING minute!!! No joke, I knew it was on camera and I work with kids so I had patience so I sit in front of him and wait for him, literally 5 minutes go by and he FINALLY storms up and goes to the back, I didn't think this was really happening so I took a picture, then a guy with a sleeveless shirt comes out from the back after he gets him and IMMEDIATELY I said you know what I'm good, no thank you, I left and decided wait the other guy needs to know how I was spoke to do they can change that and be a little more professional not only in attitude but definitely attire. I went back in and said hey I was going to leave but this guy here cursed and had an attitude for absolutely no reason and they guy behind the desk who was not there says no he didn't he works here .... This guy is now calling me a liar he was not even THERE!! I definitely could have wasted more time but I saw it was pointless so I said look you have a camera right there it's all on CAMERA. He then says He is on a important zoom call he would NEVER say that on a zoom like you can't push the mute button, there was no way I was going to give them my driver's license talking crazy and being unprofessional, and like I said it's all on camera, thank goodness I even took a picture. read more

I have a long-term rental through my company that failed to renew after two months of renting. I called Avis customer service and was told I just needed to visit any location to update the vehicle mileage with their staff and I would be good to go. I took time out of my lunch break to go to the nearest Avis, only to be met with rudeness and zero willingness to help. The desk agent flat-out refused to assist and insisted I had to return with the vehicle to the pickup location instead. Brad assisted me with my rental on 06/14/23 5pm. Just started my rental and before getting out of the lot, took lots pics (see images). Black Tesla model 3 had it's right side mirror missing its bottom panel and the whole car was filthy & damaged inside & outside especially the back passenger side on the right (like rowdy kids/teenagers in the back) and inside smelled of weed. I needed the car so I drove it home and cleaned the interior as best I could. Key card holder was also full of dirt. There's got to be a better quality control for Avis! I hope I dont get ripped off when I return this car after a few days. read more

How is this place still in business? This place has got to be the most unprofessional mainstream business that exists.... I went in today to pick up a reservation, waited about 30 min for assistance. It was extremely slow, as it usually is here, but the representative knew the customer so they continued to carry on in their conversation as if know one was there. When I did finally get help, we get to the end where he swiped my card and asked for my pin..... I asked for the total, he said, he doesn't know. How can you not know the total, and expect me to approve the amount. I told him I've never been asked to swipe my card w/no total, even here. He proceeds to roll his eyes, get an attitude, and raise his voice in irritation that I asked for the total. Then noticed I had a discount on my rental, and threatened to remove it for the hassle.... The hassle of what, me asking the total and you doing your job? Completely Unprofessional, do yourselves a favor and look elsewhere... Both the representative/the Manager in charge Brad, are "Extremely" Temperamental/Moody/Rude... I sincerely wish I could post the interaction.... SMH read more

Rented a car from here and a few days later had about 7 psi in a tire. Took a look and found it's been dangerously repaired, you can't plug an area that close to the sidewall. Avis failed to inspect the car properly before handing the keys to the customer. Luckily this didn't pop when I was going at freeway speeds and I just took it back to the original Avis location a mile or 2 away and got the car exchanged. The real BS starts with the billing, I was billed almost $250 for re-fueling the car with the flat, and the exchange car. Never have I seen such predatory re-fueling prices at any car rental place. Keep in mind, the exponentially increased refueling rate was not mentioned during the initial pickup of either vehicle. Cannot comprehend why Avis expects their customers to risk further damaging the car (that's already damaged due to Avis's negligence) & their own lives just to go re-fuel the car. Also billing customers an absurd $9/gallon & telling them "it was in your contract" is scummy behavior. Their customer service says I didn't notify Avis about the plug which is why I'm being charged for re-fueling the original car. Literally makes zero sense. I took it back to the original Avis location so how was Avis not notified? Incompetence seems to present at all levels in this company. Can't wait until the entire company goes under. read more

I had a confirmed reservation for a Tesla and when I arrived there were no Teslas available, not a problem, the selection is super limited and the cars look super dirty! I picked up a car and the back seat was full of food crumbs and the passenger floor had this bottle of water! I usually like Avis but after this will probably go to another location or use a different company. All in all not terrible but I value receiving a clean car above all else! read more

I reserved a compact car at the arroyo pkwy and after much drama with them not accepting payment verified the night before, I was given a gas guzzling challenger. I found out while on the fwy that stepping on the brakes, the car shook uncontrollably in addition I got a call from the arroyo pkwy location that the previous renter left something in the center console. There was nothing in the center console but when I stopped and was able to enter from the passenger side saw there was in a side pocket. I called the location back and they instructed me to just bring when I turn the car in (4 days later). I asked them to please call the lady and give her my number so she at least knows it's coming and can save some time not going to the DMW. They did not. read more

Military spouse came for a quick turnaround due to a funeral. I received a military discount everything went according to plan. On Friday I called to extend my rental. Come to find out it closes during the weekend I would have to rent the car into a Monday but my flight was leaving on Sunday. There was a very large fee to return the rental to LAX instead of Pasadena. I rented a white Jeep Wrangler Sahara, I absolutely loved it very smooth ride the Jeep was very fun! As soon as I get to the rental I jump out the car excitedly and tell him "I had so much fun! I love this Jeep! I even told my husband about it." He says I can keep it for another day. He had no idea that I wasn't able to see my Grandfather who had a stroke during this trip, he had no idea that my auntie (who just lost her husband) would also be in the hospital during this time. I CRIED! I Kept saying are you serious?! While trying not to ugly cry. This show of kindness and compassion was so overwhelming for me I was stuck in the driveway for a little bit. I felt so blessed in that moment that he decided to show me favor. When I say I will never forget this experience! And whenever I come back home to LA I will always rent from this Avis. They denied my coupon usage. And they don't pick you up like enterprise does. Whaaaaackk! I guess being the only customer in there was a sign?!? I called a couple of days in advance and explained that I had a coupon that I wanted to use to rent a car to drive to my cousin's wedding. The guy on the phone was friendly and answered all of my questions. I went in to rent the car and I was denied the coupon usage because I wasn't a reward's member. I guess that makes sense, but I was very clear over the phone where I got these coupons from and what they read, so him telling me that information before I stepped foot into the establishment would have been helpful. After reading a few reviews I'm glad I held out and didn't end up renting from them anyway. read more

It is hard to return vehicles to this location. Then you pay more. Hours are not updated. It is hard to get anyone on the phone for assistance. A supervisor was very helpful in helping me find the Avis location on Arroyo Parkway. Return was fast & easy they even stay late to help customers at that location. read more

Got screwed. Was told just putting up card for 2 day rental but other driver bailed with car & refused to give it back for 20 days on my bank account. I was told by AVIS to report car stolen & then they could disable car remotely to get back. WRONGPD tells me AVIS knew they'd still keep getting money from me because they own the car & had to report it & supervisor said they had to notify other driver in writing with 30 days to respond I took a chance, tracked down car, got it back & returned it. Gassed up & cleaned but still got a sanitize fee. Goodbye Stimulus check. They could've got it back at 5 days with GPS/ transponder but greedy company will never get my family's business. Not even an apology for my experience. Negative stars. Don't use them & if you do, make sure you are only driver & don't get it stolen. Website policy doesn't match reality. read more

On Sunday, August 15, my friends and I were travelling to the Grand Canyon in an Avis rental car. Approximately 13-15 miles from our destination, we discovered the tire pressure had decreased significantly.  Upon phoning your toll free number, I spoke with Samantha (Reference #931-80-39), and was told that the nearest location open was Las Vegas airport. The rental car would not make it there due to the condition of the tire. A cashier at the nearby gas station helped by putting air in the tire.  Nevertheless, and to our disappointment, that did not work -- within 2-3 minutes; the tire's air pressure had lowered again.  Then, I was given a phone number to contact a tire shop, but I was not sure, if the service technician would travel to where we were, or if the place of business was open on a Sunday. I called and was able to speak with someone and explained the situation.  The technician came to the scene of the incident -- the pressure of the tire would not allow us to drive anywhere. The entire process took more than five hours to get back on the road. Which caused my friends and me to miss two of our engagements. These photos are proof of this dreadful, unsafe experience. Apparently, the tire had had numerous cuts not visible when I rented the car. WHY was this car placed on the lot to be rented by your customers? I am grateful that we were not involved in a serious automobile accident. I cannot imagine if there had not been a service station available within the distance of the Grand Canyon.  Just imagine three women in an area where there is no phone reception how this could have possibly been a different outcome And to top it off, an Avis rep is refusing to work with us regarding a mutual resolution for our time lost and reimbursement of unexpected expenses. read more

This is my go-to spot when I need to rent a car. Brad, the front desk person, who I just learned today is the owner, is very friendly and most importantly FAST. I can usually get in and out of here in about 5 minutes - I just give Brad my ID and credit card, he types a few things, prints out the contract, I initial, and then Brad goes and pulls the car up to the front. We do a quick walk around and then I'm off. Right before Christmas last year, there was a huge storm and I got to Avis right at closing time to pick-up a car. Brad was really professional and understanding even though I was likely holding him up from going home. I really appreciated it. read more

If you live around Pasadena/Alhambra area, and you have to choose Avis. I'd say this is place to go. Much better than the Alhambra location in terms of service and car selection. We got a very nice 2018 Mustang Convertible for our short trip. Picking up the vehicle is very easy, you can chose between different car if they have. We are happy to choose the Mustang Convertible. In the end, they didn't try to push us to purchase their insurance or whatsever. Feels very comfortable and I've been taken good care of! read more

I've rented from them multiple times, and I'll keep going back. Brad is awesome. He doesn't waste time, doesn't try to nickel-and-dime you, doesn't try to upsell you. Huge fan of this guy. If he can get you a deal, then he will. If he can't, he'll tell you. The office is straightforward, no frills. The cars are always clean, freshly washed, and gassed up. That's pretty much it. Rented a car this past weekend and asked specifically upon check in if car had been cleaned. I was told yes. I get in the car to take off and it's totally dirty Inside and out. This is not acceptable especially during COVID. The clerk apologized and wiped down the car inside with disinfectant wipes and vacuumed which I appreciated. I was told I could get it car washed myself and they would take something off when I returned the car. I was offered no compensation upon the return. This is the second time I have been given a dirty car from this location. If you are in a hurry you are screwed to wait for them to clean it so call ahead and double check you get a clean car Or carry your own wipes. You would be surprised the dirt that comes off the steering wheel. read more
