Well where to start, the day we went to pick up our car at 8:00 am when they opened and already had reservations for a full size sedan and it would cost us $108. The representative Josh, told us he didn't have a car for us and was waiting on 3 people to drop off and another representative was driving a car over for us. She finally showed up at 8:30am in a Toyota IA (very compact car) and he said it should be cheaper because it wasn't a full size sedan. Then he charged our card $122 and said "oh no" that's wrong and fixed it. He finally said it will be $86 and the $122 should be refunded in 2-6 business days. We left. We returned at 5pm two days later when they close at 6pm. The representative Josh, was missing. We waited awhile. Another lady came in and could tell we were frustrated, so she made a phone call once she heard how long we were waiting. The guy on the phone said, "he was on his way back," which was very vague. At this point it was 5:50 and still no show. Finally at 5:57 pm he showed up and I let him know I had been waiting an hour and he didn't even give me a simple sorry. I asked for his managers number and he seemed so careless that I was frustrated. I definitely don't recommend this Avis/budget at all!!! Oh and too add to all this. I've never had a customer experience as bad as the one I'm in the middle of right now. To make a long story short, I rented a car and a rock broke the windshield. Avis withheld over $2000(!) on my credit card and charged me $250 for the broken windshield and then credited only $800 back(??) leaving me to fight for the remainder. I have been struggling with them for weeks now to get my money back and they've given me nothing but the run around. Do not rent from these guys. They are horrible. read more

This place is located the Sear's auto center in the Del Amo Fashion center complex. This is the 2nd time I've rented from here. I think the service you get really depends on who is helping you. We rent from here because it's close to my friend's house. Tips: 1. Always check your gas level with Avis person before leaving. My recent gas level was just above half tank. 2. Always inspect the car inside and out with Avis person before leaving. I checked outside and assumed inside was clean (sky was dark already). In daylight, I noticed that there were empty snack wrappers in the driver's seat area AND there was alot of water in the middle console compartment. Be considerate to the next renter and please return car clean and with full tank. Friendly staff. James was working when we picked up car. James and Manager Jose(?) was working when we returned the car. Both were very helpful and friendly. Note that they have a VERY LIMITED quantity of rentals but we had a car on reserve so it wasn't a problem for us. All in all, we would come here again for a rental. read more

I came in on a Sunday before a Holiday due to my car check engine light came on. I always decline the extra insurance because my insurance carrier covers me in a rental, even my credit card will cover me in a rental, however I was still charged extra insurance. The man behind the counter told me to initial all the areas and didn't give me my rental agreement. When I brought the vehicle back, I still didn't get a receipt. I was told that he will email it to me, which I never received. It wasn't until I checked my bank statement that I was charged more than what was quoted. I even had to call customer service to get a copy of the rental agreement and receipt. When I told customer service what happen I was told that I can get a "credit" for future rentals. I will NEVER use AVIS again!!!! read more

This Avis is great. My dad called to see if they had any Equniox and they did. The customer service guy named Raul gave my dad a nice discount for the week and saved him $70. Also whenever I drive home from LA Fitness down the street, I noticed they had other cars such as a Camaro SS and a 2014 V6 Mustang. I asked how much would the V6 Mustang would be for a day and he said about $100. I was thinking of renting for just for the heck of it cause I don't want to go to Auto Nation Ford of Torrance and listen to the sales guy lecturing me about buying a car and playing the price game that I don't intent to buy right now!!! read more

Well first of all I got to say horrible , I had a reservation at this Avis in Torrance ca , I made sure I did it with time so I reserved since April my trip was until July 20 I never call to confirmed because I had never had a problem before with other company's but this time my gut feeling told me to call and confirm so I did a day before , the guy told me that hey had overbooked and did not have my vehicle he had other people waiting as well but he was going to work hard to get me one but couldn't guarantee anything , and that he would call me back like in 40 minutes to let me know . he seemed very unsure about getting me a vehicle . I was so frustrated I had a trip planned with my family so he never called me back not even to let me know that they did not have my rental .. so I would give this place 0 stars if I could they don't care if you have hotel paid and vacations planned so unprofessional .. after 3 hours of wait I had to call customer service and thank god they were able to fix their mistake changed my rental Location and was able to go to my trip but not before going trough all the frustration and worries . read more

When we got the car, there were used water bottles in the front, a discarded tourist map, an old plastic cup in the trunk, and footprints on the dash. Never rent a car from this location..complete rip off First of all they have very less number of compact cars and most of the cars they have has some sort of mechanical problem and are not clean. I rented a car for a day and while renting i told them that i would return the car same day at 6pm. When i went there to return at 6pm, the location is closed , so i have to come the next day at 8am to return it. For this they charged me an extra $$ as extension fee. Technically i have rented the car for one day and i returned it before 24 hrs .When i try to convince them, they don't even care to listen .. They dont even offer free pick up and drop offs. Rating a zero.... But have to put a 1 because zero is not an option... We rented a van, went to fill it with gas and the gas poured out the bottom we looked under the van and saw the gas line was completely missing someone had cut it so we took it back and asked for a replacement they said they couldn't so they gave us a fire explore. We got home went to start it for our trip and it wouldn't start so we had to jump it. Drove it without stopping for 4 hours stopped once to go to the bathroom came back it would not even open called Avis for help and they kept us on hold for 2 hours while we had my son who is 7 is becoming dehydrated in the sun because all our food and water is inside the vehicle and there is no food or water around. The manual key locks on the vehicle were removed and in the day light now it is obvious that there was a collision with the vehicle because the paint color is different on the driver side but again receiving the vehicle late at night due to the return they did not inform us this vehicle has had previous issues so now we are stranded with young kids still on hold.... read more

I wished I would have checked Yelp reviews for this Avis location. NEVER AGAIN WILL I RENT FROM THIS PLACE! The reviews are so accurate. Horrible customer service for the following reasons: 1) the guy working there was beyond rude. Talking about a man who hates his job. 2) It was a very rainy day when we went to get the rental car. I asked him to please deliver the rental car next to my car so I can transfer all our luggage into the rental. We waited for him for 10 mins in the rain before he arrived with the rental and slowing drove pass us to park the car four spaces over...mind you...my 7 year old daughter and I were the only ones standing in the rain so its hard to miss us AND there were three empty spaces next to my car. What was he thinking???!! Seriously?!! Do you not have a heart? Perhaps you should rent one for a day. 3) On the day I had to return the rental, I told them I was stuck in traffic but will be there a few mins before closing and to please don't close shop early. The lady was so rude. If you are sure you can't make it, "I will tell the guy not to wait for you". I told her please just wait I will get there before 6 p.m. I called them at 5:50 p.m. no one picked up the phone. I called them 5:55 pm., still no one answered. I arrived at 6:00 p.m. The Sears employees across from the rental told me "the Avis lady left 3 minutes ago". Really?!!! You guys stink!!!! I use this location often and I have never been treated the way I was treated this last time I rented a car. The guy working the front was rude, didn't greet me when I walked up to the counter as he was busy on the phone in his ear and his cell phone in his hand. He just took my card and license and started the paperwork. He then started to yell at me in front of other customers because I told him the information on the contract was wrong, I showed him my confirmation email to prove what I had booked and the price and he got angrier and kept yelling at me saying that I kept changing my reservation and that's why it was wrong. I changed my reservation time once and I had the email confirmation to prove it, he did not need to get nasty and yell at me in front of other customers. Then it took half an hour to get my car. I called customer service already and hopefully they will retrain this individual in customer service. You all need to bring Art back he was everywhere but he was never rude. After calling customer service I never received a follow up, Avis does NOT care about its customers and how they are treated. Save yourself a lot of time and money and go to enterprise. I booked a car for a week on kayak. First I would like to say the business location is wrong. This business has moved from 2824 Sepulveda blvd, Torrance, Ca 90505 to 22100 Hawthorne blvd, Torrance, Ca 90505. I arrived at the wrong location to pick up my car. Luckily, the new location is 3 minutes away, at sears, in the Del Amo mall. I was happy with the staff and the price of my rental car. The only issue I have is with the car description. I required a large SUV and was given a small/mid-size SUV. The staff upgraded my car without a problem to a large SUV and again the car was not a large SUV. If you need to rent a large SUV I suggest calling and ordering a large SUV. The website is not clear and you will end up with a smal/mid-size SUV. The staff told me a large SUV is considered a luxury SUV and you have to call to book one. The car descriptions are not correct. I want to stress the staff are very accommodating and they did there best to help me. I recommend this company if you want a good price and good service. If you require a specific type of car I would call to confirm. read more

This place is the absolute worst experience and customer service ever! I'm from Chicago and needed a car for a conference and I made a reservation online. Went to the place and they had no cars!!! They had no explanation as to why I was able to make a reservation if they had no cars. They told me there were also 4 other people in front of me. They said they would call and I should have a car by 6pm before they close. 5:15 rolls around and no call, they had a shift change and nobody knew what the hell was going on. Still no cars and now they we're sending me around to other places 20-30 mins away near closing time. Worst way to do business in my opinion and the employees couldn't even tell me who their boss was to direct my complaint to and they said yea this happens all the time and they tell their boss but nothing changes. Hours on their signs are wrong, customer service number that they have is horrible. The guy was nice when we picked up the car but when we returned it at another location we were told he gave us the wrong contract with the wrong car information and mileage information. Also, they did not complete the inspection form or do an inspection with us even though they were not busy. Th guy just said "its a red corolla out front here you go." I don't plan to rent a car from avis again...between the locations i visited just to get the rental and the horrible customer service from their 1800 number, where they are apparently trained to hang up on customers complaining, I am done giving these people any business. If you want to save yourself a headache go somewhere else - hours are a nightmare for this location and they do not offer a 24 hr drop off. read more

The AVIS agent called Rafael made my business with AVIS very negative and traumatic for me. This AVIS agent was extremely difficult. And his very rude and offensive attitude with a lack of professionalism to his clients. Too many customers including I could not find out where his office was since it is way too far away from the main building entrance in the huge parking lot. Had to drive the rented car over 30 minutes in the parking. Got kind help from employees at Macy's who walked me 10 minutes to isolated AVIS office. Macy's employees told me too many customers of AVIS are having difficulties finding the isolated AVIS office. AVIS agent Rafael said no "thank you or sorry. He only criticized me in every little thing. I parked the rented car in front of his office. I gladly went outside and parked the car right in front of AVIS office. I explained that I came to this address for the first time that day driving totally 130 miles all the way without any familiarity with the area and that I was feeling very sick with a terrible headache. Rafael could not give me any words to express compassion, not even just simple words of thanks or sorry even after I moved the car even closer to his office and all he did was complaining that the car was still too "far" to walk to. It is in the same address as his office. Parked right in front of AVIS office. I had to find a space right in front of his AVIS office in the very crowded parking area that was filled with other cars. Apparently, it was difficult for Rafael to understand such difficulties or appreciate my effort. I was exhausted and suffering from his harassment and caused me a severe headache. I treated AVIS car very nicely and followed all the rules making no problem while renting their car. Why does Rafael still accuse me for everything falsely? His attitude was extremely mean and did not seem professional at all. He grinned and laughed at me with his other fellow Mexicans. I asked him what is so funny. He ignored. He made fun of me being the only non-Mexican inside building. Rafael did not give me any greeting. Rafael did not appreciate my effort of finding a spot in the crowded parking right in front of him. Rafael laughed at me for no reason. He didn't greet or give me any nice professional conversation in his business conversation. He gave me no answer for my questions.
