First and last time renting at Hertz. Terrible customer service, made a reservation for a Tesla and got to the location to be told my reservation was cancelled. Was never notified, so wasted time and $40 taking a Lyft to and from location. Just like the Seinfeld episode they can take the reservation but can not keep the reservation. Been here several times recently and while the customer service has been fine, they have a tendency to give you dirty cars. The SUV I just got has bug splatter on the front, spotty windows all the way around and a stench of cigarettes in the interior. Since they were going to close soon and I need that size vehicle, I didn't fight them about it but this is the last time I'll be using their services. I do plan to run the vehicle through the car wash at some point in my road trip since it looks terrible. read more

The Worst Customer Service for the 1st time from this awful woman working behind the counter today. April 25 @ 2pm. Under staffed with just this miserable person who told me when I got there that although I had a reservation they had NO CARS AVAILABLE and there were several other customers who had no car available as well. This miserable person told me she may have a truck available for more $$$...WHY? I said, OK, just cancel my reservation...I can't...you have to call the 1-800-overseas # by my rental reservation time or I would be charged. That was a complete Sh*t Show trying to get through. I went back to "her" (mind you there were about 8 people now in line and just her. I was told she couldn't cancel my reservation even though they had NO CARS or I would be charged for the Full Rental. The overseas person never sent the cancellation as he told me. Cancelled on my credit card. Sadly, one of the other customers saw me after and heard her say under her breath. Good Luck trying to rent a car here tomorrow. (Sarcastically). Aside from the airport, this is my go to hertz location. It's a couple blocks away from work, where i can leave my car and i know it will be safe. Dave is a pro and definitely knows what he is doing! I've only had good customer service experiences. The cars are well maintained and run great. It sucks that the hours are limited but if there's a will, there is a way. Parking isn't free but there is plenty of it. There's a Starbucks right before and free water at the lobby. read more

Was charged $400 in fees for same day rental. Beware of being taken advantage of with fees! I read the QR agreement that said nothing about not allowing pets. My pet was in the car for short amount of time - which would indicate some hair that could be vacuumed. This has been my go-to location for 10 years. I am a regular client. It is shocking to be treated with such disregard for loyalty. There is a computer generated notice at one corner that informs pet hair will incur an additional fee. When i picked up the car i was not near that corner where that print out was placed. I am so disappointed in this branch and sad to lose my go-to rental location. read more

I have to say that I've had a great experience at this location. Located inside of the Torrance Marriott and right across the street from Del Amo Mall, this was a very nice and easy location to rent from. After selling my truck, I needed to rent a car to run some important errands. I hadn't decided what kind of car I wanted next, so I figured this was a great way to test out something. I made my reservation online. They have a Hertz app, but it wasn't working right and I needed to hurry and make a reservation, so I just opted for online reservations. I quickly and easily made my reservation for this location and took a Lyft to go pick up the car. It was quick and easy to check in. They only have a small window through the lobby and past the Starbucks, but there were two agents working diligently to get everyone processed. There tends to be a line, but it doesn't take too long. It took less than 10 minutes for them to finish with me. The cars are located across the lot on the 3rd floor of the parking structure. Just go left when you go outside the door and they have all their cars and an attendant out there to direct you. I guess South Bay Mazda also rents space from the hotel, because the entire upper level is full of brand new Mazda's. Originally, they gave me a Nissan Sentra, but I looked across from me and noticed a lit Chrysler 300 staring at me. I asked the attendant about switching to it, because I know that my hunny loves the 300 and I thought it would be great for him to try it out. The attendant was extremely helpful! He told me it was reserved, but walked with me back down to the desk to see if they could get me into it. Luckily for me, the person who it was reserved for chose a different car and I could switch to that one if I wanted to. They didn't charge much for the upgrade and with my AAA discount, it ended up being very reasonable. Let's just say that I hated to give it back! I loved it! I would definitely rent from this location, again. The customer service was excellent and they had a good selection of cars. Just try to make a reservation beforehand, because a few people in front of me were turned away because they didn't have a reservation and Hertz was out of cars. And don't forget to get your paid exit ticket for the parking structure before you leave the counter. read more

Worst Worst experience at all times ! This rental is prepaid for a week and when I went yesterday they told me that they dont have available EV . I said its prepaid and this should guarantee availability . I waited for almost 2 1/2 hours and then they gave me a super dirty rental car with crumbs hairs and used napkin laying on the drivers seat just like that and still charged me with another $4 eventhough I made prepayment already... When I say I paid already and they said you still owed $4 more . So I gave my credit card for additional. I patiently wait for two hours but this dirty car is unacceptable. So I approached the rep and informed them that they gave me the uncleaned vehicle and he told me I'm busy right now let me finish the lines and give him another 30 mins and I will clean it . I was like i have to wait for another 30 mins. I have no choice but to clean it myself! The worst rental experience ever! read more

Offered us an electric car with only 55% charge, not great for LA traffic. They couldn't even cancel the reservation, we had to call a national line. Really bad Hertz Location, first time booking a reservation we were greeted with a "Next time you book a reservation make sure to call us first to see if we have the car available." Wouldn't that defeat the purpose of a reservation. Anyways I have tried calling this location many times and no one answers. \ Secondly I made another reservation for a vacation. Pick up time was 8am, I showed up at 750AM and waited until 930AM. No one ever showed up at the location and the line just grew. I drove over to Enterprise and had a rental car in 15 minutes. Made a reservation online for a 12noon pick up. Once I got to the location I followed the signs for hertz, which lead to the parking lot. By the time I realized the hertz desk was in the HOTEL LOBBY it was 1202 and they were closed for lunch. I patiently waited until 1 and was not helped until 110. Now, I am currently sitting back in the lobby and was told to wait another 20 minutes for them to get the car ready. Then when the car does come out it reeks of weed. I am extremely disappointed that there is lack of proper advertisements of where they are physically located and not listed accurate hours of operation. If you see a booking online for this location I recommend looking elsewhere. read more

So I saw there were a lot of bad reviews but I had a great experience. I rented a compact SUV through my AAA but when I got there they didn't have any. I was upgraded to a nicer SUV at no additional charge. The counter is in the hotel but it's very easy to find. I was in and out in about 10 mins and the agent at the front desk was very helpful. Even drop off was convenient and left the keys with the Hertz agent on the 1st floor of the parking structure. ISince the hertz is in the hotel, you can actually drop off the vehicle after hours or on Sunday and drop the keys in the drop box at the counter. I would definitely rent from this location again. read more

I'm just here to Echo all of the sentiments that are in the other reviews. It's my own fault, I've been here three times and my experience here was terrible then as well. Should have just listened to myself. But yes, the other reviews are accurate: long wait, horrendous customer service, can never get anyone on the phone. I was unaware they closed at noon on a saturday, which is odd in and of itself since they made my reservation for noon on a Saturday, but it doesn't matter because I was there at 11:45 a.m. The clerk saw me waiting in line as he very slowly "helped" the person in front of me. And when it came my turn at 12:02 p.m., he told me they were closed and the system was shut down. Refused to help me. No car. As I stated, my previous visits here have been pretty bad, but this was the absolute worst. At least he was very friendly and apologetic about it... just kidding. He could not care less and offered absolutely no apology. "You can try the one at LAX" was the best he could muster. read more

I give two stars because the gentleman Jean that helped me was nice while providing me with service. But the service and sense of security in renting the car was not there. To begin, it took me 10 minutes to figure out that the hertz desk was passed the elevators inside the hotel. The one and only -not blatant sign there instructed that Hetrz could be found on the third floor of the parking structure. Once the car was paid for nobody escorted me to the car I was to go up the 3 level on my own figure out who h car it was on the lot and drive off. I did not feel easy at knowing they did t do an inspection. I went in real early and they claimed no other mini suvs were available, although in hunting for my rental it was distinctly apparent that that there were, that was disappointing. I asked when I return what is the procedure to turn in the car. " park the car in the 3rd level parking structure and drop the keys in the drop box." What if damages are done to the car from the point I park it to when you go inspect it? We will call you regarding damages. Unfortunately, l was in a position and a time crunch where I took the car. I made a reservation for 10am pickup for today. I arrived at 1138. The man at the desk said, "oh sorry, we have a problem, we gave your car away" he explained I only had an hour to hold the car. Then of course he only had a more expensive car to offer me. He didn't try to work work me or try to accommodate me in any way. Just kept offering me the more expensive car. A courtesy call would have been nice, maybe to ask me if I was still planning to get the car before they gave mine away. So my gf and I made a reservation and upon arriving they tell my gf that they don't have a car for us. Like HOW ARE YOU A CAR RENTAL PLACE WITH NO CARS? That baffles me. My gf calls me In and I'm talking to the guy at the desk and he's explaining to me that we had to call in to see if they had cars. Like I said if you are a car rental company shouldn't you have cars?? Or at least update your online website saying that there are no cars, or an email to say the least. Nothing no notification or anything. So I ask for a manager and the guy tells me there isn't one on site and that we had to call customer service. So then my gf chimes in and then the guy had the audacity to tell my gf to calm down because she was being irate?! How was she being irate when she was asking a simple question?? The rental car I received was FILTHY. There were sticky cup marks from leaking drinks on the dash, thick dust on the dashboard and everywhere else, someone left (2) face-masks in the car, there were water bottles under the seat, the seats were dirty, the car wasnt washed at ALL (Not even rinsed off) AND the car smelled like PURE A$$. I couldnt walk ALL THE WAY BACK to let them know bcse I had an event to hurry and attend AND they of course... do NOT answer the phones. These guys never answer the phone. If you have a questions to ask, you may as well drive ALL THE WAY up there to ask you question. They sit around and ignore the calls, I know for a fact bcse I was there and decided to give them a call and I watched them ignore the phones while they carried on with their conversations on whos ordering what for breakfast. I asked for a sedan & was forced into a SUV w.o the usual "free upgrade" due to not having the vehicle i asked for. So i am paying regular price for a SUV when i asked for a sedan. Then when i asked about the pricing he shrugs & says s "oh we're not too worried about it" (excuse me? I AM.) i started to say " i don't want to pay SUV prices when i asked for a sedan" he cut me off to say "since you're renting for a month your not paying normal prices anyway" ... The SUV he gave me also has a bunch of damage not even tried to fix / paint just put stickers on them w. numbers . Will be calling corporate . To whom it may concern, I've previously enjoyed my rental experiences with Hertz.  My rental from your Del Amo Marriott location was least to be desired.  I had flown in the night before so that I would be adequately prepared to hit the road upon picking up the rental vehicle to attend a siblings graduation.  My original reservation was scheduled under my name for your Torrance Hawthorne Blvd location for a intermediate electric group C4 class vehicle.  I arrived by noon for my reservation # K1502588730 and was informed by the rental agent that my reserved/prepaid vehicle was located at another location.  The rental agent followed his statement by saying that the office in question was currently at lunch and that I wouldn't be able to pickup the vehicle until 1:30.  Earlier in my career I worked at Enterprise Rent -A-Car so 1) It was a big deal that I was renting from Hertz. 2) I understand vehicle management and utilization, however this insight provided not vantage point to justify why my vehicle was not ready and cleaned upon my arrival. As I'm waiting,. I asked Johnny,  the local rental representative, named to make sure that the rental car is ready to go as soon as my conversation with customer service was over. I was assured that my Tesla rental was out side, clean and ready to go.  Meanwhile, while I'm waiting for the customer service agent to return, your local Hertz location representative noticed that I had travelled from San Francisco.  Johnny proceeded to ask me if I was familiar with "blipping"(sp?).  Apparently, he heard that there were a rash of vehicle break-in in San Francisco where people would use spark plugs to break windows.  My response was swift that I'd never heard of such a thing and that vehicle break-ins are agnostic to any specific city/neighborhoods. The customer service agent returned to the phone to inform me that she had almost completed my new reservation but was now showing that the car I reserved was no longer available.  Despite informing her that I was informed by Johnny that the vehicle was on site, she needed to receive confirmation from him personally, which resulted in having to wait until he concluded his current conversation with another customer.   Johnny confirmed the availability of my vehicle, and the agent confirmed that my rental rate had increased again.  She also informed me that I could not return the rental to my original reservation location without experiencing a significant surcharge.  I then asked the customer service agent to please repeat what caused me to call her today and the context around my rental.  I then explained the entire situation again and asked if she was able to exclusively change my form of payment, as I originally requested, why did she change my reservation which caused my rental rate to inflate and the alteration of my return location?  To that she said that she could honor my original reservation. However, I have no confidence she honored my request because I also asked the representative to add notes to my booking so that a customer service agent could follow-up with me.  This has not occured during my three day rental. After my call the local Hertz agent (Johnny) said he was going to get my rental. As it turns out, the vehicle was not outside and it took an additional 20 mins for Johnny to bring my rental car to the car port, uncleaned and provided no excuse or apology for his delayed reaction. By this time, it was 3:20 PM before I'd successfully leave Hertz.  This entire ordeal resulted in me missing my sister walk across her graduation stage.  Additionally, I had to exchange my original vehicle at SFO, because not only was the interior uncleaned, but the windshield also contained a film that made driving at night dangerous. Upon returning my vehicle on 6/13 at 2:55 PM, Johnny failed to close out my vehicle at that time.  I had to call customer service so that they could document my formal request to have my rental closed out.  Anything could have happened to my rental while it was in the carport.  And in absence of closing out my ticket, those actions could have resulted in a precarious situation should damages occur. My latest rental car experience from Hertz was the worst rental car experience in my life.  There was no notion of customer satisfaction nor was there a sense of urgency to adequately communicate.  I request that an area manager of the Torrance location give me a call at my phone number listed within my reservation/rental contract to adequately resolve this issue. read more

If it was possible to give 0 stars, I would. Where do I start... I am a 20 year Hertz Gold member (IBM Executive). I was instructed to be ready at 7 am for a promised ride to Hertz to rent this SUV at 8 am, which never arrived. Repeatedly phone calls were never answered. I took a $20 Uber to rent the SUV. At 9:30 am after waiting at the vacant Counter for 30 mins, I was told that I'd have to take a smaller SUV or wait another hour. Since I planned on departed for my family road trip at 8 am, I agreed to take the smaller SUV. This caused a lot of problems as it was way too small for 4 adults and camping equipment. I went to the lot at 9:30 to retrieve the car. It was filthy and a gal with a spray water bottle and towels was "washing the car". Waited another 20 mins before leaving with the dirty car with semi-cleaned windows. During the trip the check engine oil light came on. Sure enough, the car needed oil. +$15 The transmission was messed up as well, making highway driving often dangerous as it failed to advance to the higher gears without very high RPM's. When I returned the car, the Hertz counter in the Marriott was unattended. I left the key in the key drop. When phoning I explained the oil situation and was told that I should have found another Hertz while on vacation and switched cars, instead of buying oil myself. Yeah right! Here's the net. Hertz owes me for: 1. Uber ride 2. Smaller SUV 3. Oil 4. Overall crappy experience I'm guessing that this review won't be responded to Hertz who is now in bankruptcy. I wonder why. read more

I recently rented a car at this location. I noticed an odor of cigarette smoke, and the car was not cleaned ,finding cigarette ashes in the door handle wells. I advised Agents David Macseng and Norma Meneses of this issue. I was told twice by Norma that I wouldn't be charged a $300 cleaning fee due to the cigarette odor . To my dismay I noticed that my credit card was charged the additional $300 fee. I spoke to the Hertz Manager Mr. Martinez multiple occasions , and he told me several times that the charge would be reversed, and indicated that he would email me once the request was completed.This has not occurred. I have had to drive to the Hertz office as well call several times with no results, and at this point not returning my call. The only thing that I can advise all customers is to stay away from Hertz. I can never understand why people leave so many negative reviews. This is my local go to rental that is not at LAX. Even if they are closed, you can return the car and just leave the rental agreement and key in the drop off box located at their office counter. Since this is part of the Marriott Hotel, it means you can return 24x7 (except for the holidays when they are closed). All the other non airport locations usually does not allow returns if they are closed. We rent from this location frequently and never had a bad experience. I highly recommend this Hertz location if you need to rent a car. read more

First and last time to rent a car here. I usually use a different company for work, but wanted to try Hertz. The reservation system, pick-up and drop off were easy. I was given a dirty and smelly car that was just serviced. Check-in staff warned me and told me to just notify the staff outside to clean it for me. When I asked outside they said, "It's gonna take a long time. Are you in a hurry"? The car smelled like marijuana which got worse when you used the a/c. When I returned the car three guys were getting high in the parking lot while the staff just walked by. I won't bring my family here for sure! Nobody checks the car at pick-up or drop off. There are so many better rental places to choose from. read more

I've called and called and I still cant connect with anyone at this office. I had to go through the 1800 # to speak with someone and they let me know that my car hadn't been returned. How is that possible? I dropped off the keys in the key box and I left the car in the garage like they asked me to do. No one seems to be able to answer phones at this location. I was satisfied with the service and customer service at this branch. It's located in the Torrance Marriott next to Starbucks. Made reservations through the AAA website. Got an economy car for 5 days Thursday-Monday. A 20% discount was added onto the final bill, $126 plus filling tank, upon returning. Only peeve have, is check car they give you. Mine came with some minor front end stratches. I let them know and they noted.. so wouldn't get charged extra!! read more
