My experience is slightly out of the norm as I am an Uber driver and was renting a car through that platform. Per my reservation, I booked a Ford Mach E, which on the Uber app is a "Premier" option but also "Comfort & UberX." However, upon arrival, I was advised that Uber had changed that for that particular car. The guy (never got his name) but he had an accent that was not American English, asked for my license and CC, I gave him the card I wanted to use, which was my debit card but I did have a credit card as well if necessary but that's not what I wanted to use. He tells me there are several hoops I'm going to have to jump through because my license is from Georgia and my current address is in Texas and I've only been here since January... What any of this has to do with renting this car, IDK but I obliged, answered all his questions. SN: I have a Texas license from living here before but I didn't have it on me but it is listed on my Avis profile as I have rented from them before. He updates my address in his system, let's me look at the car, i even asked about other options when he said that one was no longer premier but at no point did he mention the last hoop until about an hour in because that's how long this took! This hoop: I needed to have a utility bill at my house with my name on it, to prove I live there I suppose. It's my mother's house so all the bills are in her name but I called her and told her the issue and she puts my name on the Wi-Fi, the owner says no, has to be water, gas, etc. She adds me to the water bill but this was three hours later because it's Monday and she was at work and I was inconveniencing her... BUT after alllllll that, the owner comes back to look at the water bill and me as an authorized user and my Georgia DL and says oh, no. This is a non starter, the Georgia driver's license that I gave them five hours ago when I first walked in there! I don't know who, what, when, where or why these asinine rules exist here, because obviously out of state folks rent cars all the time but I was told no and five hours of my time was wasted with no apology. They had an issue with our reservation after they took our payment. They canceled our reservation and had to find a new way to pay since we desperately needed this rental. Once that got sorted out, we loaded up our kids and found trash and beer bottles in the back seat. Pretty sure the vehicle had an oil leak as well. We won't be using them anymore. read more

I scheduled a 7:30 AM pickup and arrived on time. The store operator, DJ, unlocked the door at 7:03 AM without so much as a hello--just walked to the counter silently. I told him I had a reservation made online. He asked for my ID and credit card with no greeting or acknowledgment. Based on past reviews, I was already hesitant, but chose this location due to its proximity to my job. He then informed me they don't accept debit cards--even ones that run as credit--even though the website allowed the reservation that way. When I mentioned I might return the vehicle earlier than the five days I prepaid for, he told me no refund would be issued for early returns. I signed the rental agreement, and he walked me to the door, pointed toward the lot, and sent me out--again, without a word. The car itself was in rough shape. It smelled strongly of mildew and the odor never went away. The windshield washer fluid was empty, so I had to refill it myself. On a very rainy weekend, I discovered the wipers were worn out and the headlights were so dim I could barely see at night. I attempted to exchange the car at another location, but they were out of vehicles. When I returned the car on Day 5, the employee Nick was friendly and respectful, though clearly busy. I later called to share my experience, and while Nick listened, he also tried to justify his manager's behavior. We made the reservation weeks ago. When we arrived the man behind the counter wouldn't let my brother rent the vehicle because his name on the insurance and credit card did not exactly match his ID. Totally ridiculous . So we went to the bank and changed the debit card / cc and went to the insurance office to change the name to match. Went back and then the guy says he can't take the debit card . And that my brother needs a utility bill to prove he is who he says he is. This is absolutely absurd . If I could rate zero stars, I absolutely would. Darryl Johnson is literally the WORST manager I've ever encountered. When I came in he had a very nice employee helping people. Once he couldn't take care of the issue for a customer he called over Mr. Johnson. He started yelling at a customer about how he never spoke to her when she claimed to have spoken to him in person and all he had to say was "oh I thought you were someone else, I can't do anything for you". He was gaslighting the customer and refusing to listen to her until she spoke over him and continued saying she spoke directly to him IN PERSON. When it came to me, he just kept laughing through the issue. I walked out without a car. Rent from enterprise. I went to enterprise after this terrible experience, they gave me a car in less than 20 minutes, upgraded me for free AND added my second driver for FREE. I only paid $10 more than what they would've charged me here at Avis. Mr. Johnson was trying to change my $360 rental (which I got from renting in advance) to $700. Went to enterprise and paid $370 for a larger car and better insurance. Seriously, listen to all the reviews here. Don't come here. Maybe there are better Avis locations, but do NOT come to this one. read more

Rates at the time were 240 for an EV and 260 for a gas vehicle (before fees and taxes of course) and I had reserved a gas vehicle just because I hate EVs. I get there and he tells me that there is no gas vehicles so he's giving me an EV. I ask if the rate will be the slightly cheaper one since I'm getting an electric vehicle. He says that he reserved me for a gas vehicle so even though there is none he's going to give me that rate. This place is terrible and I do not recommend anyone come here. This place was so un professional. When I returned my car the agent ran outside to tell me I needed to park the car in a different space. Then he asked for the miles and I said "here's the key," he said, "oh no I can't get into that car it hasn't been sanitized." Really? He was horrible. I asked if he could add my preferred number and he said no but didn't know why he couldn't add it. Ridiculous in my opinion. He didn't even offer a number where I could call and add. The customer service at this place was terrible. When we returned the car there wasn't any spaces to park the car so we pulled in front of the business and parked. They made us move the car over by the fence which i didn't know was there parking lot. They didn't inspect the car for any damage when we returned it. I don't recommend renting a car here. I rented a Ford Explorer for a quick trip with my cardiac service dog. When I brought the vehicle back the owner/operator did not inspect or review the vehicle. The next day he calls and states that he found some dog hair in the vehicle and he was "imposing" a $75 vacuuming fee. He then argued that it cost more than $75 to vacuum the car. So if you are veteran, service animal owner, or just someone who does not like a cheap hustler imposing fees to make a little extra money, I would highly recommend another company or for sure a different location. read more

Got told oh well we are keeping your $150 dollars and no your reservation can't be uncanceled even though it was never cancelled to begin with . DJ and staff are awesome. Avis traditionally has the best rental car rates, especially if you look for codes online before you book; That being said, if you wait until the day of or a day before, sometimes you may have issues with being able to apply coupon codes and/or just general car availability. I love how all the locations share vehicles to get you what you need and I've never had to dispute charges or been unfairly charged for cleanings or other fees. Avis does have a rewards program for frequent renters or if you fly a lot, you can choose to get airline miles for your rentals instead. read more

I wish I could give them 20 stars because this Avis dealer deserves it. Was in Texas for my sons Air Force graduation almost 3 yrs ago. Well the company we used to rent a car screwed us and left us stranded at the airport with no car , The manager of the office took us to this location . Darryl Johnson went out of his way to give us the same offer we had with the other company and rented us a better car than what we were supposed to get for the same price. If I could I wouldn't even add a star. First and Last time I'm going to rent here. I made a reservation 1 month prior for a suburban. I arrive and the lady gives me a Ford Explorer. Not what I reserved. She calls her boss and tells him that I did not want the explorer and that I must have been confused when I reserved. First time and LAST!! Rented for 1 day Van and at the pick up time van was not ready. Had to follow a Avis worker to finish filling up the tank. As I return the van the next day, I was told by the Owner that the gas was not fill up all the way. I was about to be charge $9.98 per gallon. Drove to a Valero and had to put 0.52 gallons $ 1.40 so the van could be return. SERIOUSLY!!! read more

If this would allow me no stars, that is what this place would get. I reserved 2 days a head of time for a car seat. When we arrived from CA, due to my husband's brother dying, we were told they didn't have one in. It was actually suggested by the lady at the counter, that we go to Walmart and buy one. Are you freaking kidding me!!!! I was so ticked off, that I demanded for them to find us another car rental place at the airport that had one in stock. Time was of the essence. The owner, begrudingly did so but let me know that he didn't have to. Excuse me! We reserved one and YOU screwed up. We had to take the bus from there back to the airport and get back onto another bus to go to Hertz.. This took up a good hour of our time. Two and a half hours later, his brother died. Thank you Avis for taking away one of my husbands last hours with his brother. I really hope you can live with that.
