I can't speak highly enough about this place. Stopped in after a training and went to the takeout side. The wonderful person at the counter, Sue was friendly and informative! When she found out I would be eating in my car she said I could eat at the bar after I asked. The food was delicious and the bartender was equally as friendly and helpful. I love this place. I'm surprised I haven't reviewed it yet. Their pizza and service is always great. They also have a bunch of other great dishes that deserve compliments. Location is on a intersection with a traffic light. You can enter easier from the north or west routes. The restaurant takes up two or three storefronts that is easily seen from the outside but not as easy to notice from the inside. There is a bar section with several tables for more casual drinking and eating. Although the dining room is casual too. Outdoor seating is offered weather and staff permitting. I think they prefer to have more staff on duty when it is opened. I probably would too. I've enjoyed mostly two things here: pizza and salads. Both of which are fantastic. The salad has been fresh and I can tell it has been washed. The pizza is always fresh and hot. I like their crispy crust. The have some kind of delivery service that may or may not bring beer to you? I'm not sure so you may just want to look it up and explore your options. read more

We've been regulars at Aviva for quite a while. It's been a great local success story going from occupying about 1/3 of a plaza to now having the entire space with a restaurant, take-out space & a bar in the middle. The wood-fired pizza is delicious with perfect crust & many topping options. Their Meatballs, Sausage Stuffed Banana Peppers, Beans & Greens and Caesar Salads are consistently very tasty and worthy of sampling. It's also one of our favorite Happy Hours weekdays from 5-7 pm with $4 house wines, $6 pepperoni or margarita pizzas and discounts on all the items listed above and more. First of all, the pizza here is fabulous! Might be the best in the area! And their new expanded space now offers a happy hour that is awesome! The happy hour menu is a good intro to their other offerings and includes a small pepperoni pizza ($5), sausage stuffed hot peppers (oh man, these are so good!), meatballs (yummy) and a host of other tempting options. Discounts on wine and beer make this a great place to grab some good food and drink without dropping a lot of cash. I'm a fan and will continue to go back. My only issue is that I wish they had more than 6 taps so they could offer more draft beer selections. I've been a little disappointed in the selection the last two visits. I don't want Kentucky Bourbon barrel draft beer or Sam Adams as options. Sorry. I want at least ONE IPA. Although not that long ago they had Green Flash on tap. Now THAT is a winner!! read more

Good brick oven pizza. This crust with homemade sauce and dough. Jay, the owner stopped by to help the waitress, so I was able to ask a few questions. They make sauce and dough daily, mozzarella is imported. Sat at the bar overlooking the kitchen, the brick oven and was able to watch the TV. Fun to watch the staff prepare food and finish the servings before taking to the tables. The staff does work hard and seem to help each other taking the meals to the table's. Aviva has a small outdoor patio. Had the Margherita pizza with fresh mozzarella, fresh basil tomato sauce and olive oil. Really liked the thin crust and mozzarella. Pizza was very good. Service was good. Received refills without asking. If you like brick oven pizza you will like Aviva. The menu has insalate, panini, antipasti, and a few deserts. read more

Reviews I read in Yelp were spot on. We had the El Diablo special and the Rusica salads. Service was just the right level of attentive and not intrusive. The salads were fresh, cold and delicious. Eat here regularly and have always gotten a good meal. Gluten free pizza crust is some of the best I've tried and vodka sauce is excellent.

Seemed to be a little expensive for what we got. Food was good and the cashier was friendly. We got ours to go so can't remark on the ambience or cleanliness. They forgot to pack our dessert and we didn't notice it until we got to our hotel. We called them to take it off our bill but they wouldn't. We don't recommend. read more

We are big fans of the pizza here. For us it's an unusually convenient location, and it offers a pretty good wine list, which is rare for a pizza place. The restaurant is clean and updated, and service is always prompt and friendly. So once in a while I order a dish where my taste buds say 'more' but my stomach says 'enough!' I ordered the Penne a la Vodka. Wow! Too deelish! Penne cooked to perfection. The vodka sauce was thick and creamy. The garlic bread helped sop up the creme sauce. The side salad was fresh and full of the 'good' greens. Also had a basil martini that was the perfect sweetness. I'm so glad to find a place that caters to the gluten-free lifestyle. Sad that it's all the way out in Cranberry though! Me and the hubs made the trek out allllll the way from the South Hills for a specific store, so when hunger struck, I turned to Yelp! The server was incredible friendly and made me feel at ease ordering gluten free and assured me they take cross contamination seriously. He even told me his grandmother was celiac too. I SO appreciate this. Plus, this was my very first time eating gluten free pizza, so I didn't know what to expect. With that being said, did I notice the difference in crust? Yes. Am I an expert on GF pizza crust yet, absolutely not. So I'm not sure what's out there. I'm not sure if a GF crust will ever get perfectly crispy like regular wheat crust, but the texture was softer than I'm used to. What I really zeroed in on was the toppings, knowing the crust would taste different. I ordered the portobello pizza with chicken added. The toppings were hearty, and apparently the mozzarella is made fresh in house. While the cheese was good, I felt the sauce didn't have a lot of seasoning or flavor past the tomato taste. The whole pizza seemed to lack seasoning. That was the one thing missing. I feel bad, because I wanted to love this place and turn to it as a great GF option. Maybe I ordered wrong and another pizza would have been better? So, my friend and I popped in after a doctors appointment. We saw it heading to the office and decided to try it. When we walked in, the food just smelled amazing. The hostess sat us quickly and the server gave us ample time to look over the menu. I was sure we were going to get the "lunch rush" service, but he let us go at our pace. We ordered: Meatballs Caesar Salad Stuffed Pepper Soup Hot Sausage Hoagie Portobello Mushroom Pizza with Pepperoni. The Meatball App came out very quickly, which shows they aren't cooked to order, but they were still very good. They tasted fresh-ish made; you could tell they weren't frozen, so they were made either that day or the day before, but they sat in a bath of marinara sauce until ordered. Would Recommend. My Caesar Salad was okay. I added the grilled shrimp. For $6, they were good, but not $6 good. They weren't uniformly seasoned; one shrimp (very large shrimp) was seasoned wonderfully, another had no seasoning, one was way over, and so forth. I got 5 large shrimp. The dressing and the salad were good. The only detractor was that I found Craisins (dried cranberries) in my salad. When I looked at the menu, the Craisins came from a salad with nuts in it. While not a problem for me, it posed a potentially serious cross contamination issue. My friends' Stuffed Pepper Soup was very good and he was very pleased. It was seasoned perfectly; just the right amount of heat. The Hot Sausage Hoagie was very good. Oven baked hoagies are my kryptonite and I almost took one home. My Pizza was AMAZING. It was done beautifully. The fresh basil and Portobello mushrooms just ramped up the taste along with the house made Motz. I would spend the extra money and upgrade to the house made cheese on any pizza. All in all, I really enjoyed my visit. I wish I could give half stars. The only reason I didn't give 5 full stars was due to the cross contamination issue, but I'd give them 4 1/2 Stars. I will be coming back! read more

I've been getting pick up from Aviva for the past two years. Oven fired pizza was always VERY good but thought we would eat in for a change since COVID seems to be lightning up. Had the Mediterranean salad which was excellent. Fresh greens and top quality ingredients. My wife had the spinach salad and really like it as well. For a change we got the white margarita pizza and it was outstanding. Great balance of garlic and the crust was just perfect. As good as their pies have been for take out you can't beat ones that come right out of the oven. Really impressive. Topped it off with a cold draft of Peroni! Really a top shelf satisfying meal. A solid pizza joint in the North Hills area. Service is fast and friendly. The restaurant is noisy and casual. Food is delicious! Especially enjoyed their special roasted red pepper pizza. Spinach and Artichoke Dip was some of the best I've ever had. The tiramisu was amazing!!! I hear they run out of this dessert quite often, and I can understand why. I'm a Michigander passing through on my way to Philadelphia. My group and I pulled off the freeway and drove up and down the nearby road in hopes of feeding our hunger. I in particular was a bit grouchy from an empty belly. Then, we spotted this place. The parking lot is a bit small but that wasn't a challenge for us on a Sunday evening. Inside we were greeted pleasantly and seated promptly. Our server was an incredibly sweet young woman who had a lot of answers for our handful of questions. We ordered the Aviva pizza, which was a delicious Italian sausage and banana peppers pizza. It was spicy as advertised. We also had breadsticks which were interesting. They were some unique middle ground between a dusty breadstick and cheese bread but without the grease. I appreciated the lack of grease in the overall meal. Filling but not in a gross way. The sauce used for dipping was really good as well. My group ordered the Aviva salad, but with the chickpeas on the side for my benefit. I enjoyed that as well. I washed it all down with some Diet Coke while I watched the number one team in their division, the Pittsburgh Pirates, battle it out with the San Francisco Giants. The atmosphere was nice for that, with their projector screen and large windows. Luckily they knew how to handle the sun rays so that light entered, but the heat didn't make anyone uncomfortable. There was a nice outdoor section we could see as well. Before we left, I split a Molten Lava Cake which was damn delicious. Vanilla Gelato and a sliced strawberry accompanied it. All in all, it was a great dinner which recharged our ability to focus on the long journey we were on. While I don't love anywhere near this restaurant, I still had to leave a comment card and let them know I would come back whenever I got the chance. For anyone much more local, or passing through on your own journey, I'd recommend you stop in. Have some wine. Enjoy some pizza. Experience Aviva. read more

The pizza was nicely done- we had the spinach one. They used fresh spinach. We also ordered the breadsticks with marinara sauce. But let's talk about Stanley... Stanley's one of the waitstaff and though I've seen him serve others, I've never been in his section. As soon as you meet him, you know this is a good guy. He's good at his job and he does what he's supposed to do, but he's not flashy, or constantly over top of you, or rushing you along. He does it just right. But here's what makes him even better: he takes my order, turns to walk away and does a pivot back, "Hey, if you do this, you'll save a few bucks and you'll get a salad too." (Not to mention the sample of beer that I almost ordered instead of getting my usual.) Stanley doesn't need to upsell. Aviva doesn't need to upsell. I got at least $9 more of value and saved $4. I ended up trying this pizza on my way home from work one Friday. It was packed for dinner and happy hour inside. I ended up waiting in the restaurant portion of Aviva not realizing they had a separate take out section. We ended up ordering the bbq chicken pizza and breadsticks. The breadsticks came with a marinara dipping sauce and were disappointing. The breadsticks were thin, dry, a little crunchy, and the seasoning did not save them from being undesirable. The pizza ended up being alright. The combination of cheese, chicken, bbq sauce, and onion was good. Was not a huge fan of the dough again. The pizza also was on the smaller side as well. If you aren't a fan of chain restaurant pizza this place might be OK for you. I would avoid the breadsticks as an appetizer but the pizza was OK. I think there are better pizza places around the area, but could see why people would really enjoy Aviva. Unfortunately it's not my cup of tea... ahem I mean my slice of pizza. read more

Went here based on a recommendation from family member. Ordered two pizzas. The one pizza was burnt. Only about a bite of each slice was the actual pizza. The rest was the dough and it was burnt. The one bite I had per slice was really good, but that was all you got from it. The other pizza looked okay, but still nothing special. We are new to the area and have seen a ton of brick oven places. Figured they were all alike. Decided to give Aviva a shot and was very pleased. The atmosphere was rustic Italian and the service was on point. We started with the stuffed peppers which had a great flavor, were smothered in cheese and covered in a very tasty marinara. The white margarita pizza was excellent though after tasting the marinara, I ended up asking for a cup of it to toss on top. The garlic really brought the whole thing home. I just want to say this restaurant is doing everything right! We've eaten here a few times and the meals are always enjoyable. Today, they really went above and beyond. My family has been doing take out at least once a week to help support local businesses and their employees during these crazy times. Not only was I able to order online but when I got there a runner greeted me at my car with gloves on and maintained a 3 ft distance. My food was ready at the time given during ordering despite them being busy (probably 20+tickets in the window and a dozen cars in the lot). Their team was firing on all cylinders with a staffed kitchen, someone at the computer, and food runners. They get 10 out of 5 stars for going the extra mile during these unprecedented times.
