Prince on the phone and Juan driving the car were both lovely, professional, and helpful. They made a bad day much better. And.................. the locksmith was there when we arrived and now I have my car back! Didn't know a soul...just there all by myself. Uber really doesn't run in Asheville, so I advise that you hit up AVL and schedule all of your rides! They'll be there right on time (about 10-15 min early)....doesn't matter if it's 8pm or 3am, theyll be there waiting on you! Zaddy calls me one day...says he's flying me out to see him in NYC on a 5am flight. I immediately book a 230am ride with Coop at AVL. Coop was dooopppeee very nice person. She shared the city's history on that 20 min ride. Upon arriving at the airport, I noticed that my wallet was GONE!! Oh no! I must've left it at the airport! No UBER in sight! Coop had another ride to get to., so he had already "burnt off"! So I scrambled and got hold of AVL....and less than 15 min later, they sent JON my way to save the day! Jon was so kind and friendly and even took a shortcut that saved us about 5 min back to the hotel! He even waited on me to return to the room to retrieve my wallet (which was under my suitemates suit case....damn CASAMIGOS!) He quickly got me back to the airport 30 min before I boarded! Great service. My driver arrived 10 minutes early for a 5:00am pick up to the airport. He let me know he had arrived and told me not to rush. What a relief to know he was there! In the past, I tried to pre schedule an Uber/Lyft (can't remember which) for a similar pickup in the middle of winter (cold, dark and EARLY!), and there was absolutely no one available. So Pre scheduling did nothing, and I ended up calling a taxi in a panic. Not the way to start a work trip! Anyway, I have learned my lesson! The trip may have cost me an extra $10 but it was a great experience. The driver was very friendly and helped me with my bags, another thing most Uber/Lyft drivers don't normally do, was nice to talk to, had a very clean & comfortable minivan and got me to AVL stress free. Ordered a ride for my wife and a co-worker to the airport as recommended by our hotel's front desk. The app is very similar to Uber in booking and tracking a driver. The driver arrived in the quoted window and was very friendly. The reason I docked a star is amongst the many fees charged was a credit card surcharge, which was not disclosed at any point before booking (and I believe has to be in order to charge such a fee). I even looked at the website and saw no mention of the fee. With the expectation that someone booking online is using a card, this is very disappointing. I do appreciate the owner, who quickly responded and offered to look into the issue. read more

Of the three rides I had with AVL Taxi in the same evening, two were good, but the third requested ride left me feeling stranded at Salvage Station, an unfamiliar area for me, with my 13-year-old granddaughter. I requested their service through their app at 10:31 and was told my driver, Michael, in a Toyota Corolla, would arrive in 25 minutes (busy night, I understood). For the next hour, the app showed my ride down to 4 minutes away then up again, then down, etc... My ride finally arrived at 11:26. Twice I called the driver with no answer. Once he answered and said the app had been having problems. When I spoke with the office they assured me that the app was fine and that their system showed him making other stops, but they had not given him other customers. I asked to speak with a supervisor and was told I would get a return call. Four days later, still no return call. I would not recommend using this driver and due to the total lack of concern or follow-up by the AVL Ride (Taxi) service, I would not recommend using their service. read more

Fast, reliable and friendly. Not much more you could want from a transportation service. As someone who regularly takes Uber and Lyft, I was really happy to come across this company when I traveled to Asheville for a wedding over the Halloween weekend. For some reason Uber and Lyft drivers and sparse in the Asheville area, and when I scheduled a pick up through Uber they advised that no available drivers were around despite being and early afternoon pick up from the airport. I had no idea how few Lyfts/Ubers operated in Asheville (I was never able to successfully connect with a Lyft/Uber driver on my trip despite multiple attempts). After some research and a recommendation from our hotel, I texted AVL Taxi. I was able to get a quote quickly and reserve a trip from the Biltmore Winery to downtown Asheville. The driver was on-time, friendly, a solid driver and the car was clean -- what more could you want! Rate was reasonable. Definitely recommend. If you deliberately do not use Uber or Lyft, do not use this driving service. This is not a traditional taxi company. Drivers are not required to take drug tests. They are not required to have a commercial taxi license. And they are not required to pass a criminal background check. I called this cab in Asheville. Highly recommend - customer service is top notch! I tried scheduling a Lyft Saturday night to the airport the next morning, but the scheduling option was unavailable. I didn't think much of it because Lyft has been pretty reliable during my stay here, but got up a little bit early to make sure I had plenty of time to get a car... zero lyfts available. Do they all take Sunday morning off?! It wasn't crazy early... Anyway, I found this company here on yelp, checked out their website and noticed their preferred contact method is texting. Convenient! They got back to me within about 10 minutes, but unfortunately I was just too late. They were backed up a bit and the wait was about 45 minutes - not enough time for me to comfortably get to the airport for my flight so I told them I needed something sooner and just expected this option closed. I called Night and Day Taxi services and spoke with a man who was completely unhelpful and rude (apparently they don't pick up in Asheville). Just when I was about to panic a bit about how I was going to get to the airport, a woman (didn't catch her name unfortunately) called and told me she reached out to a driver who was supposed to be finishing his shift and he agreed to take one more ride! She apologized for the inconvenience profusely (unnecessarily, but appreciated!) and had the most friendly demeanor over the phone. Keith picked me up, we had friendly conversation (and even discovered one of those small world scenarios), and he got me to the airport in great time. Also, I forgot to ask for a receipt (business travel expense) so texted them after the ride to ask for a receipt. I heard back within about 5 minutes and set it up for them to email it to me. Choose this service over Uber while staying in Asheville. Trust me. Justin picked us up perfectly on time from downtown to go to the airport. He was polite, easy to talk to and drove perfectly. We found that Uber rides, although a bit cheaper, were unreliable - cancelled at the last minute or took twenty minutes to even pick us up...not to mention the scary driving we experienced with Uber. None of this was even close to being an issue with Justin and Asheville Taxi. They have a convenient app, ability to text to order a ride, and great communication. If you're willing to pay a LITTLE more for a comfortable, stress free ride, do it. read more

Fantastic taxi service, I used them for every trip while in town. Very friendly drivers who arrived early with a marked car. They have an app that you can reserve or request live time. Only caution is that live pick up times can vary from 5 min to 30 min so be prepared for the possibility of a long pick up time. Uber/Lyft is non existent in Asheville. read more

I initially was charged $33.37 when I contacted them For a pickup at the airport. The plane was unable to land at the last moment due to visibility. That pickup was canceled. i contacted the taxi for another driver when the plane was able to land. Canceled ride cost me $66.82. The actual ride cost me $68.31. I booked a car from AVL taxi because I had - 7:00 a.m flight and was worried about finding an Uber at 5:15! I called to schedule my ride a day ahead, and they were very friendly and accommodating. Woody and his crew are awesome! I had a special, unusual request for a taxi pick up for my bicycle from home (my wife was there), and bring it to the local bicycle shop, no passengers. Even though it was an unusual request, they didn't miss a beat, were flexible as I confirmed the cycle was ready for pick up, and paid over the phone. The driver communicated well, was easy to work with (I saw the whole pickup via FaceTime), and promptly delivered it, no problems. What a great way to solve my problems, out-of-the-box flexibility with great calmness goes a long way to confirming that this is the BEST experience with a taxi that I've had in Asheville. Great experience last night, I am so glad we chose this taxi company. I texted this company earlier in the day requesting a pick up from my house so my friends and I wouldn't have to drive drunk to the Civic Center for a show. Our entire communication was done via text which was very helpful to me. The driver arrived on time and at the place we requested. He was very friendly and personable and when road construction forced him to take a detour to our destination, he stopped the meter. He did NOT need to do this and it was really appreciated. He dropped us off, the fare was extremely reasonable and he told us to text him when we were ready to come home so he could come back for us. After the show, we texted him again and he replied when he was outside. This is wonderful because it was so loud in the Civic Center, I would not have been able to hear a phone call. Overall, my experience with this company was fantastic and I plan on using their services many more times in the future. Thanks guys! read more

I called a competitor and after 30 minutes and having called back several times, I got no answer. Called AVL and as promised the cab arrived in 15 minutes. They also sent a link to track the driver. We live in a small town and haven't used UBER or Lyft, so the app my be standard but it was new for us. Would recommend the use of this service. read more

Luckily the hotel I was staying at called this company instead. The driver picked me up 10 minutes later even though it was 5:30am on a Monday morning. The car was clean, the driver was friendly and professional and best of all the fare was $20 cheaper than what the other company was going to charge me. First off it was late. Everyone was a bit drunk including myself but this situation was just too annoying to not merit a review. Next time I ask a stranger to get out of my cab I expect a little back up from the driver. Some drunk kid that I did not know or feel responsible for grifted a ride in my cab and happened to live way the hell out of the way. I was very clear I did not want to participate in this but lo and behold 44$ later I obviously had no say so. The driver and this strange kid were too busy talking about Phish cover bands to care. The one and only plus to this company is that they were on time at 5am for a trip to the airport. The massive minus and reason for the low review is that there was no meter and the driver, Mike, charged us $64 to travel 25 minutes to the airport. The website claimed they took credit or debit but Mike suspiciously could only take cash. This same ride was $18 with Uber. I don't mind paying a premium for early pick up or coming out to get us but there was never any indication that it would be this expensive. read more

Fantastic experience! Our driver was friendly and great! I wish I'd known about this company sooner. We called before we were done with dinner, because in my experience, it can take awhile to arrive. I asked for a 15 minute wait time, they called at 15 minutes, asked if we were ready and arrived seconds later.
