Pickup was fast and substitutes were communicated to us upon arrival. We ordered and was ready when we arrived.

All the one stars are correct. Service is sub par with everyone waiting for orders. It was funny watching everyone else waiting for pickup orders get frustrated that their orders were wrong. The icing on the cake for me was my burrito was 9/10ths rice for $20. Pretty sure you won't ever see me there again. read more

I had the burrito Michoacán style and it may be the best burrito I've had. Others had tacos and tostadas. All was very good. They had run out of some pretty fundamental stuff, which was surprising. Hopefully they will get that figured out. read more

Don't waste your time. We placed an order for pickup and when I arrived, they said they didn't even start the order yet because 'they ran out of chicken for the tacos'. I placed an order for a chicken burrito and 2 beef tacos. And yes they said they had the chicken for the burrito. After waiting a half hour they still messed up the order. Meh. I'm from LA, and have been in the Berkshires for over a decade now. I'm still searching for some decent Mexican food. My son and I went in on a Tuesday evening and the place was empty. Ok, it is Lee, and Mid November, and this is a place claiming to be authentic so maybe that's part of the problem. I decide to order anyhow because I miss home and I'm hopeful. We place an order to go as the wife is at home waiting for dinner. I try to order a torta de al pastor, but unfortunately they aren't doing any tortas that evening. I try to go with some sopes next, and again not available. Hhmm...alarms are going off, but I drove down from Pittsfield and I want to try the place out. I keep it basic...tacos de al pastor. I also order the tinga burrito. I was interested because I've never seen any place put chicken tinga in a burrito before, usually in tacos, tostados, or just on a plate with rice and beans, and frankly,I really like chicken tinga. The son goes for the nachos, because he's pretty basic. The wife went for the Aztecs Bowl Supreme with grilled chicken. I also got some of their "spicy" salsa, because why not. Was told it would be 20 minutes for the food, and it was probably a little less than that, so no issues with the wait time. Get home and everyone digs in. Son is happy with the nachos. Ok. Look over at the wife and I can tell she's not digging it, but she's from the Berkshires and Mexican food for her is Taco Bell. I jump into the tacos, and yeah...they're just ok. I still can't put my finger on it...just something was off about the tacos. Hit the burrito next and again...just kind of bland. The chicken was kind of dry, which is crazy because chicken tinga is shredded chicken in a tomato sauce with some chipotle. I didn't finish half of it. Also the salsa, as expected was not spicy at all and had little flavor other than tomato to it. It's too bad. The restaurant looks nice and they did a good job renovating it. I used to go in their when it was a Vietnamese restaurant. The staff wasn't rude, maybe a little bored? I don't know. Maybe their target audience are white people who think the Chipotle chain is the best Mexican food? I don't know. All I can say, as someone who has traveled Mexico and grew up in Southern California, it's not for me. Maybe I will try again on a weekend and see if it was just a bad night. read more

What a hidden gem! We had hungry, cranky kids and rolled into town with few expectations and happened upon Avocado Cafe. We were sat immediately by our waitress. We took her recommendations (but I don't remember what they were called) -a chorizo beef and bean dip app, the Cancun burrito, chicken tinga tostadas and some n/a sangria. SOOOOOO GOOOOOOOD. Just what this Texas girl needed in this sleepy little mountain town. The manager, Ivan, was able to help us out with catering some much needed Tex Mex cuisine to our after rehearsal dinner gathering. He was even able to have it delivered to us. Delicious Mexican food! It was our first time here. The menu is large, so it was tough to decide. We ordered the veggie burrito and veggie quesadilla, and were pleasantly surprised at the taste and quality. Our server was friendly, and the ambiance was fun, casual and lively with Mexican decor and music. We parked in the public spaces conveniently located across the street. The pork enchiladas were absolutely fresh and delicious. The portion was plentiful. I never eat the beans and rice, but enjoyed the tasty pinto beans and the wonderful rice infused with different spices. When in the Lee area again, I will return. Don't think twice, just go! read more

Excellent Mexican food! The guacamole was fresh and delicious and the grilled chicken burrito was great. Nice to have all of the options for customizing on the online ordering menu - we chose black beans for the burritos which was really good, and there are many other options available. I looked up Avocado Cafe's menu before I went as I am on a Keto diet. I had no problems after explaining this to our server. I brought my own pork "chips" and the guacamole was great! I ordered the Cubana dish because it was mostly meats and veggies. The chef did serve it on a roll, but the inside was very easy to eat without the bread. There was a great serving, so I was able to take leftovers home! Instead of rice & beans, chef included a small serving of shredded lettuce and tomato salad on the plate. A delicious dinner ... (and the left overs, even better the next day!) If you are not on a restricted diet, this is an even better dining experience. My companion had the tacos and just loved them! read more

Small restaurant, maybe 6 tables inside and 3 outside. Went with my boyfriend and a couple of our friends. Reservations made for four of us, even arrived a little early. Takeout was hoppin' but maybe 3 tables were occupied when we arrived. Almost an hour later, never saw drinks (not even water, which we asked for) or food while other tables that arrived far after us were on their second rounds with food - and our server had to walk past our table in order to serve any of the others from the kitchen. We asked our server again for our drinks during this time but to no avail. We ended up walking out since we were served nothing, and went over to 51 Park for a great meal. read more

Food was mediocre. Service was awful. Waited one hour after ordering only to get items we did not order. And the place was less than 1/2 full, on a Friday night. We thought maybe the items belonged to another table, but no, these items did not belong to anyone else in this small restaurant. Waitress had to give the kitchen our order, again! Without any communication, we had to wait another 30 min for our food! Then they charged us for our water. I could understand if we ordered take-out and asked for bottled water, but we were dine-in customers. Beware, If you ask for water, they will charge for this!! read more

Everything was fresh and delicious and each had its own unique flavor (not at all like fast food Mexican). They are closed on Sunday, but planning to go back this week to try more of the menu. read more

Stopped for a late lunch on the way back from the Norman Rockwell museum. Tried the Avacado Cafe in Lee and glad we did. Service was great! I tried the pork/carnitas enchiladas. This was the 1st time I've seen pork enchiladas offered. This included 4 enchiladas compared to a normal 2 enchiladas serving. They come with a cup size of black beans & rice. The meal portion was filling & tasted great with a green sauce that had a slight kick, but not overpowering. My wife had a single chicken taco, which also was served with rice & black beans. That she totally enjoyed. Our friend ordered the beef & pork tacos, served with rice & black beans. She noted she enjoyed the pork tacos most, & liked the rice & black bean sides. They didn't have unsweetened ice tea, but that wasn't a deal breaker at all. My wife enjoyed her margarita. However full disclosure, she doesn't drink often so you'll need to judge the margarita yourself. If in the area again. We would definitely return to the Avacado Cafe for a lunch meal! read more

Great fresh and authentic Mexican food cooked with minimal grease and oil. This not Tex Mex, not covered in cheese. Very fresh with fresh flavors. Fast and friendly service. The only down side is no large tables to seat large parties. Even a party of six had to be split up. read more

Tried this relatively new Mexican place in Lee. Small and cute. Very friendly and patient staff, especially Manuella who was first rate!
