My 2007 jeep commander had a cracked head gasket. I was new to the neighborhood so I wanted to patronize a local auto repair shop. Awesome Automotive had good reviews so I gave them a shot. They kept my car for almost 3 months. Had to badger them for updates. Finally when they told me the car was fixed at a hefty price I was happy to have my car back. Thirty days later my car started to violently shake and the check engine came back on. I took it back to Awesome Automotive in May. It's the middle of September and I still don't have any idea of what's going on. They do not call to update me and when I call I get a voice mail. On Wednesday I took my 2008 Mercury Mariner to Awesome Automotive in Crestwood IL.for an A/C Freon charge. Ed greeted me with a smile, and offered to perform a N/C complete professional inspection of my vehicle since I was a new client. He found that I needed a AC Condenser Unit because it was leaking. I scheduled it for replacement His wife Tracey (nice lady) sent over my inspection report with pictures. The report showed the leaking condenser unit and also he noticed a leaking CV Axle. His inspection was very thorough and he checked EVERYTHING. He also replace a bulb in the upper tail light assy and did an oil change. I mentioned to Tracey that my dog had to be put down. I highly recommend this place. I have a 2016 Cadillac ATS. I thought I needed to get my brakes done and they took me in as soon as we hung up the phone. They checked out my car and told me I didn't need my brakes done and that I still had time. They also checked if there were any leaks. They were upfront. Tracey was nice enough to give me a ride home and pick me up after service. She also, provided my car and my wife's car a flashlight each as a gift for stopping by. Took car to Pep Boys for warranty work. codes came up a Cat and sensor 1 bank 2. Pep sent us to awesome because they do not do exhaust and they were across the street. They call us to pick up car when done. Ed's exact words were "do you have an emission test coming up?" I said no, he replied with "good the check engine light is still on and you need to drive the car more to turn it off " That was a red flag but the car is an import so i thought that may be possible. Well, we drove and drove the car and it never went off after a few hundred miles. Made appointment and brought it back. Stacey sent message yhat repairs are needed. Said repairs are 4 O2 sensors. kind of crazy since 1 O2 was to be replaced with cat. Also i was told no longer under warranty, since they had us drive vehicle over mileage to turn of engine light that never turned off. I grabbed vehicle and took to same Pep Boys for new diagnostic test and it came up exact problem original claim was put in for, also not 4 O2. Being in the business i knew what bs too look for and now Awesome is under review with the warranty company for either their shady or uneducated practices. Either way, beware. read more

I started bringing my car here a few years ago. They are very knowledgeable, honest and super friendly! My car is always fixed fast and the bill is always lower then I think it'll be. I think the first time I had brought my car in, it was having electrical problems - my car alarm would go off, the door would unlock/lock and the over head light would turn on/off all randomly and it kept killing my battery. Of course the car acted fine when I brought it in, but they actually believed me and did their best to figure it out. They weren't sure it was fixed since they couldn't get my car to do anything I was saying it was doing so they only charged me for the part they replaced! Ended up being a bigger issue (still would have needed to replace the one part) but even that still cost way less then I thought it would! My whole family has started bringing their cars here. I have had my step dads car repaired at Awesome 2 times. Once for front brake lines, and brakes, and once for a vacuum line that was cracked. I used to think this place was great. the first few years of working with them was reasonable pricing etc. as of the last few months ive noticed a few things that i thought were overly expensive. upon doing some research i found i was being completely ripped off. most recently, i was quoted $890 to replace a pitman and idler arm. i knew this was wildly high and after taking it to several other shops, i had the job done for $325 with all Moog parts, with the average quote between 280-350. My father has been taking his car there for many years as well and no more after he was quoted $450+3 hours Labor for an EGR valve for a '96 Honda accord. after some research at napa/autozone/pep boys we found that this valve ranges in price from $65 for an after-market to $95 a Honda genuine part, now i cant speak on the labor for that repair, but if its anything like the cost of parts, it would be more than it needed to be... now that said in the past they've been extremely reasonable and their workmanship has always been exceptional just make sure you do your research on pricing before you give the go ahead. read more
