The lady who helped me on the phone was so sweet and calming. She got me exactly what I needed. Once I stopped by she remembered speaking with me and ensured I received what we spoke about. She had a very calming effect to what could have been a stressful situation. The price she' quoted me was much lower than where u was originally going to attend which is one of the reasons why I came here. They replaced my tire in a timely manner. So AW's has been around for a very long time and I must say some of the things in the past has been a bit questionable but the prices has always been fair and service was adequate. But now the business is under new ownership and management and I must say that coming into the place was such a Delightful change of scenery. Upgrades and improvements abound and there is more to come with expanded seating in the customer waiting area and new touches to the decor. The wonderful Lady at the counter, Alicia, was very nice and accommodating. I went in to get my tire serviced because I had a slow leak the night before. I used fix a flat to get home from work but ,the gentleman who looked at my tire, discovered that the fix a flat had literally plugged the hole from inside (it tends to do that sometimes but I had to make sure). He gave me a complementary air pressure check for all four tires and charged me nothing for his service which I thought was very, very nice because he did put in a lot of effort to find any possible leaks and pressurize my tires. The moment I walked in the office I was greeted by the owner who seemed very nice and understanding. He referred me to his top service provider Igor who was very knowledgeable of my car and assured me he could find out the problem. The owner is extremely rude. His tone is absolutely insane. The way he speaks especially after he found out that I left a bad review was hilarious. I worked in customer service my entire life. Also being a supervisor at multiple positions, I was absolutely shocked with his response. The man came and started yelling at me , telling me to park in a parking space and why would I park there , etc! He was really aggressive and talked to me like I was stupid . Needed to get my car inspected so I came here around lunch time since it was so close to work. The great thing is that you don't need appointments. I didn't make one and I got serviced about 15 minutes after I got there. After I parked, this gentleman came out to greet me and asked me what I needed. He let me know that he'll start on my car once he finishes on a customer ahead of me. After putting the my registration on the dash, I walked into the building into the waiting area. The waiting area is not fancy. It has a couple of raggety couches and one of those old fashioned tube TVs. Overall, the employees are friendly and honest. I hate having to write this review, as this is my local car mechanic and a family-run business, which I prefer to support. However, I have taken my SUV here for repairs on 4 different occasions (I come back here, because the parts and labor are under their warranty). The first time I came, my car was promised to be ready in 2 days... 7 days later, my car is ready. All the parts came the next day.... The real reason it took 7 days is because they're so worried about making sure that every car that pulls in get's service, thus earning them money. Therefore making your car constantly get pushed to the side for repair. Hints the 50 cars parked all over the parking lot. Then, a part of that repair was replacing my sunroof seal. When I checked out, I asked "did you remember to replace the sunroof seal?" And they responded "Yes, we sure did." Sure enough I get home and hear wind noise and notice it's still the old seal. So I go back, and there is my brand new BMW sunroof seal (that I bought) lying unopened on the floor in the service garage. They lied, trying to avoid extra work they had forgotten. Also, when they repaired my wheel bearing, they bent both of my front axels requiring them to be replaced. 5 months later, one of the axels falls of my car. I take it back, get a new one under their warranty. As soon as I drive off there is a loud clunking and scraping noise under my car; suddenly. Take it back, a different mechanic notes that they bent the brake shoe during repair causing the scraping sound so he fixed it. I leave, still clunking and then the brake clip falls off immediately on HWY 55. I go back, the mechanic for my car is on vacation. Take it back, the mechanic is now in court. Take it back, and now he can't find the root of the clunking noise and has other cars to work on. As not to be bothered by my car which he messed up, again. So I drive it up the road to Colonial Tire and the 2 bolts holding the brake pads on were completely loose from where they replaced the 2nd new axel..... I mean really?!? AW should go out of business if they can't spend a legitimate 10 minutes looking over their work. So tired of all their attitudes, poor work, and excuses. ~$1,400.00 later.... read more

We did that, paid $160 but the light didn't go off, then we were told to get rear brake pads replaced, again another $160. Nothing happened to the warning lights. Then we were told several other things to get replaced. After misdiagnosing they use the scare tactics to squeeze money out of customer. Then again, this filthy place compare their service prices with dealer price. LOL. NO Customer service at all. The guy at the front desk even threatened me after complaining about the service. I am new to the Durham area, female, drove my "new" car from Philly with a weird surging noise. Talked with two mechanics in PA, with no resolution. Went on Yelp to look for good auto repair reviews I could trust. I found a rave review by a fellow female about AW Auto Service and Tires. So I immediately called them, and drove over. With no appointment, I waited just a few minutes before my car was looked at. Long story short, Ahmed (Owner? Manager? Super nice guy!) talked to one of the mechanics to check my engine (as a second opinion, while looking at possible parts online). Wendell is my hero! He totally used process of deduction and the problem was solved. No parts needed; the car didn't even go on a lift. The computer just needed to be reset. Better yet: free of charge! Now, I waited to write this review, because Wendell said to said to drive it around for at least 40 miles to see if the issue was truly resolved. I just reached the 40 mile test drive, and it drives great. As a woman, it's important to trust and feel safe with the mechanics we choose. I was treated with respect, given full detailed explanations of what was happening, and what was done to resolve the issue (in under an hour, with no appointment). I drive a '99 Mustang, and I love her, but she is old and needs special attention. I had a mechanic in Raleigh who had been taking care of her for over a decade, but once I stopped working in Raleigh, it wasn't practical for me to keep taking her there. I wish I could give this place more than 5 stars. I moved to NC about six months ago and was dreading the process of finding a reliable mechanic. It's difficult to find a trustworthy mechanic that actually knows how to do their job properly. I find that many shops try to get over on me because I am a female. Fortunately, that wasn't the case with AW's Auto Service and Tires. It was a hot and sunny afternoon when my car would not start after returning back to it from an errand. I started to panic and was about to call my roadside assistance provider to have the vehicle towed to the closest auto repair shop. This repair shop was referred to me earlier that day by auto zone and it also had a good review. I contacted the repair shop and spoke with Igor.I tried to get a hot shot with no success. Igor was very patient with me and explained all of the things that could be wrong with my car. He recommended that I try to start the car and put my foot on the gas. Like magic- I was able to get the car started. He saved me the frustration of waiting on a tow truck in the heat. Once I got to the repair shop- Igor assessed the car and told me what was wrong with it. I thought it was going to be a very expensive job, but he proved me wrong. I was very satisfied with his work and their affordable prices. Igor even called me the next day to make sure that I did not have any other issues with the car. Now that's service. I was so satisfied- that I took my car back there to get the A/C fixed later that week. I had been driving around for a whole year without A/C because another shop told me that it would cost hundreds of dollars to repair. Igor was able to repair the A/C at a fraction of the cost. Not only was it repaired, but he gave me options on the most practical way to fix it. In my time waiting for my vehicle- there were two people that walked in for an estimate and they both said that AW's Auto Service and Tires were the cheapest in the area. This is definitely the best shop in the area, they not only car for your car but your safety as well. The owner is extremely nice and helpful. They have a great selection of used tires for reasonable prices and quite a few nice reliable cars for sale. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable as well. I would definitely send all of my friends in the area here. They open at 9 and are closed on Sundays. If you wants a first second or third opinion about your car definitely check them out. They continued to claim I needed all this work on my car kept my car for months, spent thousands and it still doesn't work. Then the so called owner calls and threatened to TAKE my car since my credit card is disputing charges I did NOT agree to! I found AW just browsing online, needed my rusted gas lines repaired. Got a quote from a dealer for over $600..went to Igor and fixed it for way less than that! $400 less! It did take a while for it to be fixed but I completely understood! Upon arrival Igor explained how he fixed it and I left knowing that quality work has been done to my vehicle! After receiving a laundry list of needed repairs from Johnson Lexus, I brought my 2004 Lexus 330RX to AW's for a second opinion. They recommended two of the repairs, then showed me on my car where I didn't need several of the others. They wound up replacing my spark plugs and timing belt/water pump as part of regular maintenance, at a price that was significantly less than the dealership. (Afterwards, my mileage went up by about 4 MPG.) Better yet, the mechanic (Igor) took the time to demonstrate that the other repairs that were recommended by the dealer (leaking power steering hoses, leaking valve cover gaskets) were completely unnecessary, even though I would have been willing to have AW's do those repairs. When was the last time a mechanic told you you didn't need something that you were already willing to pay for? Further, Igor pointed out that I needed new lower control arms on the front, actually showing me the significant wear on the bushings. He quoted me a very reasonable price, charged me for the parts at their cost, and better yet, the car drives so much smoothly now. I appreciated that he suggested a repair that I didn't initially anticipate, and then backed it up by showing the worn parts to me, allowing me to make my own decision on the repair. The car did take a little longer to get back than expected, but to be fair, I told them that I didn't need the car back quickly, so I can't blame them for any delay. In addition, I was charged exactly what they had initially quoted me. No addition fees, no extra hours of labor, no nonsense. In a society where car mechanics are generally considered dishonest, AW's stands out to me as a significant exception. They have earned my trust, and I expect to bring my vehicle back here for all future repairs. read more

I've had the mechanics Igor and Wendell do several repairs on my Acura Integra (ignition switch replacement, brake and fuel line repair) and they did a very good job and are reasonable with their prices. The shop is ASE certified and Igor has a lot of experience with Hondas. I live nearby and if a repair is going to take a long time they don't mind dropping me off at home and picking me up when its done. Awesome service. Their prices are really good $70/hr vs. $90 at other places. They are also very honest and don't try to scam you. They are the best shop in this area. I went to have a tire put in my car, mecahnic put the WRONG size car on my AWD Fusion. I went back to the shop after my transfer case went out with the correct documentation and they refused to own up to it. The "mechanic" admitting to putting the wrong size tire on my car. I tried to explain to the owner and the service rep, they refused. went and filed a small claims suit against them and I WON!! They lied, came unprepared and tried to disgrace me. The total repairs to my car came to over $4000.00. I went without a car for a month. I will never refer them, use them again. Now they want to appeal the case and I'm ready for them. read more

This place was TERRIBLE to work with simply trying to get a reciept for 2 tires purchased. The guy on the phone was a foreigner, which I don't care about, except his immediate and aggressive temper was not normal in an American type service center. Not willing to help, didn't care what I called for, Said he didn't know what I wanted him to do-after we paid for 2 tires and didn't get our reciept. Yelled to me too bad, and to sue him. Then hung up. When I called back to talk to someone else he yelled no, hung up. Then he took the business phone off the hook!! . We bought two used tires asking for measurements of no more than a 1/5 wear/tear in tread and they said no problem, agreed. When we measured them After they put them on the car they were not 1/5. I wanted a receipt to see what we paid for and was denied!! Honestly, the most irritating part was the aggression of the foreigner talking to me in a f--- you demeanor and NO customer Service capability in him what so ever. So if you expect a place to work with you, if you didn't get what you paid for, THIS is NOT the place. And I do plan to write this review everywhere because no American Store should treat customers this way, unable to talk without anger and yelling, hanging up because they are unable to handle a complaint, without any consideration of diplomacy, considering I paid them! Please be very careful. It feels like u are paying less here for your auto service than in firestone or midas. But u get what u pay for in dealership or firestone. In this auto shop, they will make you pay by repairing unnecessary things or even worst make you pay for things which are not even damaged before. Same thing happened to me recently!!! They screwed my electrical system while fixing my car. At first they said they will fix it. Now they cannot fix it are saying they are not liable for it. Really pissed. Next time, i wont mind paying double for the service in dealership, at least i will have peace of mind.. read more

O'Reilly's from down the street recommended this place to me about a year ago. These guys are honest and fair. I have found their prices are typically 30% less then the price of a dealership service shop. I've got 5 cars with 100,000 to 200,000 miles, and they handled repairs with ease on them - 1987 Mercedes 420 SEL, 2001 Honda Odyssey, 2006 Buick Lacrosse, 2008 Ford E-350 15 passenger van, and 2005 Toyota Maxtrix. They have also talked me out of some repairs, telling me I don't need a certain repair that another shop said should be done, explaining why it can wait, or why a different solution will be better in the long run, or even telling me how to perform the repair myself. These guys are friendly and willing to give advice. I highly recommend these guys. They also sell tires at a very fair price. read more
