Looks as if the current reviews are before this year, so this will be the first here for 2022. I had a furnace problem. The first service I contacted did not have the part. I called Axberg. Their price was double that of the other service but I needed heat. In addition to their high price, Tim did a hard sell for a 3 year maintenance plan for almost $500.00. The plan does not include the cost for anything that needs repairs, and most consumers expect to be told that something needs to be repaired or replaced. This is October and the plan only covers one visit in the Spring for the AC, and one visit in the fall for the furnace. Too late. If you care about your health at home, know that one tech wore a mask on request that continued to slip beneath his nose, and the other tech wore no mask. Both said they have not been vaccinated for Covid-19. I'm a high risk senior. Because of both issues, I will not use Axberg again. read more

On November 22, 2021 I called Black Diamond to help me finish installing a new outdoor light fixture. I couldn't get the the last screw in and was frustrated. When the technician came he told me there was a one hour minimum. I told him that was fine. He fixed the light fixture in about 5 minutes so I asked him to look at an outside receptacle that didn't work thinking since I was paying for an hour he might as well look at that. He did not tell me they charge extra if they look at something else. He looked in the basement and looked outside. It took him around 20 minutes to replace a breaker. He was there less that 40 minutes and charged me over 500.00 dollars! Sure makes me wonder if he did that because I was a women. read more

I calledaxberg and got Black Diamond for my furnace. Technician left me with a bill over $500. He even charge me over $200 for a $10 sensor. $300 for a limit switch. H kept trying to sell me a expensive service plan. Believe me I will NEVER let them set foot in my house again. read more

Plumbers here within a couple of hours of emergency call. They were here about three hours to fix a septic pipe backup. They were friendly, competent, and left the workspace spotless. Would definitely use again. read more

Had them out to install a water heater that I had purchased from Home Depot. After all was done they charged $1,044 for the job. They also had to replace 4 feet of copper pipe and installed two shut off valves. Next time we will shop the job before hand. I would not recommend them at all. Yesterday I had Black Diamond show up to do my air ducts for a severe cleaning. Josh and Brennan showed up earlier than expected which was great for me. They sat down and explain clearly and precisely what would be done and how. Both workers were very professional and worked extremely hard and made sure my rooms stayed clean from the dirt in the ducts. I would highly recommend this company. They did a great job and cleaned things up very well. They were here for 4 hrs and were very thorough. Cudos to Black Diamond and Josh and Brennan awesome job. Keep up the great work! read more

Called for help on a cold December morning and Axberg had a technician named Ryan out to my house the same day in a time frame that was perfect for my schedule. Ryan was prompt, professional and really took the time to fix and explain my issue, as well as giving me pointers to troubleshoot the issue if it were to happen again. I was charged a minimal amount for the visit and he pointed out a potential issue, assuring me that if I needed to have them out again that the amount I paid today would be credited toward a future repair. Basically...he didn't want to replace something he got to work during the visit, but let me know it's a potential issue. Very helpful. Thanks Ryan! read more

Charged us $125 so a guy could spend 2 minutes looking at our unit to say our compressor was shot. He didn't take out a single tool, and spent the rest of the visit giving us a quote for a new system. After we got 3 other quotes, we learned Axberg had tried to sell us a system that was too big for our house, would not have fit in one of our spaces, and was literally twice as much money. Call anybody, anybody else, unless of course you enjoy throwing money out the window. Waste of our time and money. read more

Axberg came to my house to investigate why my air conditioner wasn't cooling effectively. They added some dye and refrigerant to the unit and charged me $425. They said they would wait a week and schedule service to determine where the leak was coming from after the dye did it's job. They never contacted me for this service. I called them when winter was over to have them find the leak. On the phone they told me this would be a service call but explained that I already paid the money for this investigation. They agreed and scheduled the service. The technician arrived and determined that the coil was leaking. He took note of the make, model and serial number of the coil and said they would check the warranty and price of the repair in case the unit is not under warranty. He then said that there would only be a charge for the service call today for $79. When I explained that the office said it would be free since I already paid for the service he said "Hmm, they keep doing that" and left. What? He just took my word and left? It seemed suspicious the way he said it. If i paid the money would he just keep it for himself or is this they way Axberg does business? When i went downstairs the next day I noticed that he did a shoddy job putting everything back together (http://i.imgur.com/C6dcZ2B.jpg). The panel was bent in multiple places. He didn't replace all of the screws. He didn't re-pack the sealant where the lines enter/exit. He didn't replace the tape. It was like he assumed he would be back to fix the coil. No, how about you put everything back the way it goes, not when you come back to repair the coil. So they called me back regarding the coil warranty. They said they contacted the manufacturer and the unit only had a 1 year warranty which had expired. She estimated the repair at $1300 and said a tech would be back out there to give me a firm estimate for the coil and any other options that I may want. Guess who never showed. Axberg. Well WTF. At this point I had major doubts with this company. I didn't call them back and decided to contact the manufacturer myself. This is pretty easy since all the information should be listed on the unit itself. Guess what, the coil is under warranty until 2017 since it has a 5 year warranty. Hmm, that isn't what Axberg said. Seems to me they were just trying to sell me a new coil and the labor that goes with it. After all of this, the only thing I can say about Axberg is the tech that visited my house is dishonest and whoever lied to me about the warranty is dishonest. Makes me think that they entire staff is dishonest. Do not use Axberg. read more

I called Axberg and made an appointment with them for 1:00pm. they told me that a there would be a service charge of $69 for the visit, but if they did the work, the service charge would be waived. They didn't know what a ball park estimate would be for replacing a wax ring on a toilet. I called Axeberg because my outside air condtioning unit wasn't working. They said they can come out between 3-5 PM. The tech came around 1 GREAT. The tech (I can't remember his name) did a great job and was at my house for less than 30 minutes and was courteous and professional. My issue is they charged me $251.00 for less than 30 minutes and a $30.00 part. (I looked the part up online). I emailed them to have hem send me a detailed bill. I emailed one lady a few times and got nowhere. She just gave generic responses. "We just charge a flat fee" well then send me an invoice showing the flat fee and the part. But she couldn't so she had me email another lady same response. I then called them and the person I need to talk to was busy so I am still waiting for a response. Here's the kicker the part that was replaced was still good it just had a fried earwig in it that was easily removed.... I had Axberg come out to fix a slow filling toliet tank. I asked the lady I spoke to for an estimate based on what was wrong and the part that needed replaced. She was unable to give me one. Didn't give me an hourly rate, just a diagnostic fee of $79. It will be waived if you have the work done. Unfortunately they can give you an outrageous price and your stuck paying them $79 for a two minute diagnosis. I was given a flat rate to replace the toliet fill valve and flapper $235. The parts runs between $11-$13 in stores. The technician was here 35 minutes. Consumer beware. read more

I woke up to a very cold house. It turns out my gas valve had broken in the middle of the night. My husband knew it was the gas valve, but was scheduled to work a 12 hour days for the next three days so couldn't take the time to go get the part and fix it. I took off work to meet a Black Diamond employee at the house and handle it myself. Well, I did until he quoted me $725 (plus the 80 dollar house call fee) and tried to convince me to buy/finance a new furnace instead. When I call my husband with the quote, he said absolutely not. The part is just over a hundred dollars, even with labor there was no way a respectable person would charge that much. My husband got a referral from a co-worker and that gentleman fixed the valve for $350 total. We are out the $80 for the first guy to come out but I will never contact Axberg for any work again. People should be able to trust "professionals" not to screw you over just because they can or the homeowner doesn't know any better. It's disgusting. read more

I came home from work to find our air conditioning unit not working. I called to get an appointment and was surprised to get a technician out and look at our problem between 6-8pm. The technician arrived on time and was very helpful. Even though he wasn't able to fix our problem right on the spot he explained what was wrong with our unit and scheduled an appointment for the next day. They charged me $917 to install a inducer motor for my furnace. I had to call them to try to get them to give me the breakdown for the cost of the part and labor. They told me the part was $725. I found the same part on line for $85. They charge $80 to diagnose the problem. They wave the fee if they do the work. They are are very dishonest. I will never use them again. read more

Called axburg /black diamond out to inspect my air conditioning unit. It had been making loud noise and starting and stopping very often , sometimes three times with in an hour. When the technician came out he said the unit was running, I asked if it was low on refridgerant and he said he never put his gauges on it. I asked about the amount of electrical draw the compressor was taking he said he never checked if it was using more. I was informed that since the unit is running they do not do those things. ? But they still wanted paid for the check up. Well I could have told them it still ran, I needed someone to check if it was running right( efficiently) . I called for help because my A/C was not working around 11am on the Friday of Memorial weekend. They told me they could send someone out between 3:30 and 5 and they came around 2. They had the problem diagnosed and fixed within an hour. Mark was very friendly and the price was reasonable (about what is expected for an A/C repair). He also gave me a quote for some things he found during his inspection that would need to be taken care of in the future but he did not pressure me to make a sale. I would give no stars but there isn't an option. I am highly dissatisfied with the customer service of Axberg/Division of BlackDiamond. This company is dishonest from the start! DO NOT GO THROUGH THEM! I called to set up a service call as our furnace broke down. The woman that took my request told me that there was NO SERVICE CHARGE!! I was surprised by this but was impressed, thinking wow, they must have really good service! NOPE! I was told someone would be out after noon, I called at 7:30am. At 4pm I hadn't heard from them to say when someone should be out so I called back to check. The woman was short with me and said you were scheduled between 4-6pm, like I should have known. I let her know I was only told sometime after noon and I was just checking on the status. The technician showed up and was here maybe 2 minutes...heard what I described about the noise the furnace was making and that it wasn't blowing air. He removed the cover, looked at it, and knew the problem. He said he would have to order the part and come back to repair it. I was fine with that. Then he said that it would be $125.00 for the investigation fee!!! What!? Another word for service call, which I was told didn't exist!! This put a bad taste in my mouth and no longer wanted anything to do with this company! I would have been fine with such a charge if one was told to me before hand when I asked while making the appointment but was assured there was no such fee!! I called the office immediately and complained they had a manager call me back. The manager for BlackDiamond, Diane, called me immediately and said yes, the $125.00 was an investigation fee. That if the technician used any tools that was the charge to research the issue. NO, that is a service charge by another name and NO he didin't touch his tools other than to carry them into my home! Liars and Crooks...I refuse to do business with liars or crooks! My husband paid the $125.00 charge to the technician even though we should have refused, but it wasn't the technicians fault. I feel sorry that that man has to go into someone's home that his company lied to and get the wrath of the homeowner. Sure I was told that the $125.00 would be deducted from whatever work was completed when finished but that doesn't matter to me after being lied to! Be upfront and honest with your customers or you will soon have no customers to prey upon. Shame on this company for their business practices. Complaints spread faster than praises...is this how you really want to be known? I should have researched your company first as I see other complaints on here. I am not finished with you. I want my money back crooks!!! If the technician would have used his tools he would have found a walnut in the blower motor fan! Can't do that by just looking! My husband and I removed the motor and found a walnut had destroyed the fins to the fan which more than likely loosened the motor with the stress. If an investigation were to have been done that would have been found. You would have been paid the $900.00 quoted to repair our furnace if I hadn't been lied to. I refuse to do business with liars and crooks!! 12/20/2016 I received a call from John with Black Diamond (I assume the owner) he was apologetic and thanked me for bringing light to the customer service/honesty issues. He states he will not be charging us the $125.00 we submitted and offered to complete the work free of labor charges. I refused the offer for their company to work on my furnace as I no longer want to do business with them. Axberg Black Diamond came out to tell me my furnace is really old and may not be able to get the part and if he found the part it would be over $100 dollars to replace. I told him no thanks and he left after a gave him $125 for the call - which seems on the high end. I found the part he said it was on ebay for $12. It wasn't the problem. Thanks to YouTube, I checked the capacitor. $8 at Grainger fixed the problem! A complained to no reply. read more

I called Axberg to service my 12 year old Heil Furnace. Technician determined the motor was broken and quoted to replace the motor $763. This seemed reasonable, then....he proceeded to tell me the heat exchanger looked a little too rusty and "really why invest the money to replace the motor. I should just buy a new furnace." I asked about the 30 year warranty. ... long story shortened... I called two other service companies, including the one notoriously high, and their motor replacement was at least 20% less installed, and they said the heat exchanger is under warranty if it is bad, which it was not. I spoke with one of the owners of Axberg this morning and very politely asked if they would refund my $79 service call fee and just call this an unfortunate mistake... but she got more than a little unfriendly and somewhat demanded to know who I was using to do the work - a little strange. I don't need my $79 back this badly... but can maybe save someone else the aggravation and expense of my experience with Axberg. read more
