Let me start out by explaining that my husband has stage 4 COPD and is on oxygen 24/7, and I have MS, which does NOT do well in the heat. So, going without AC for 2 weeks was pure hell. Because of the Canadian fires/smoke, we could not even open the windows. Here is the kicker...the Trane HVAC unit is under warranty. Allen Heating and Cooling replaced the motherboard, then the blower motor, then the micro chip that talks to the motherboard and blower motor. Still wasn't working. The only thing left to replace was the wiring harness. The owner of Allen called the factory to explain everything they had done and asked for the wiring harness they had in the display model on their showroom floor. He was denied. He asked if they would send their top technician to repair it...he was denied. I purchased a portable unit to cool one room for $337.00. This at least gave us one room to escape the heat. We ended up buying a whole new Rheem unit to the tune of $4080.00 from Allen Heating. Allen Heating only handles emergency calls on weekends. However, they asked for volunteers to work Saturday and install the new unit because of the dire situation with our health issues. The technicians showed up Saturday morning at 8:15 a.m. to install the new unit, and by noontime, we had a working unit. They were polite and answered all of our questions. I highly recommend Allen Heating and Cooling!! I strongly suggest you purchase anything other than a Trane HVAC unit since they don't honor their warranty. We are planning on taking legal action against the manufacturer for not honoring the warranty, and for punitive damages, my husband and I suffered. read more

The capacitor and blower went bad on a 14 month old furnace and its been 3 weeks since they came out for an inspection. I called today and they still have no ETA on when they'll be able to come and replace the part... Tried to charge $95 for a service call EVEN THOUGH ITS STILL UNDER WARRANTY! BUYER BEWARE!!!! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY IF YOU VALUE YOUR TIME & MONEY. Owner is extremely unprofessional. I have reached out to the company a total of 5 times. Before coming to this point of leaving this review. I am now out over $7.5k. I hired allen heating and cooling to replace my 26 year old AC and 10ish year old furnace on May 2022. They have since been out on 4 occasions to try to get it to function properly. Once in December of 2022 in which they turned up the blower motor and turned down the gas. Because my home was 50 degrees and wouldn't heat. Then 3 times from April-May because the AC cant reach temp. All 3 times with no explanation as to why my AC wasn't properly functioning. No leak. Added freon just to be safe. But no other explanation and after every visit they said they'd let Tom know. Following every visit I'd have to email and call the office and explain its STILL not working. During these visits my caps where left off my AC the first time as photographed. Damaging the valve which was discovered on the 4th visit on the exterior unit. My interior unit was never put back together right the last visit.. and after ALL THESE VISITS and missed time at work. I spent THOUSANDS of dollars for a HVAC unit that has functioned less then 50% of the time I've had it. The owner has not ONCE reached out personally to handle this issue. The front desk staff just continues to send out techs & Tom continues to not take responsibility for the poorly installed system his buisness put in. Not standing by his contract terms or "worry free guarantee". I have done my part. I use the cheapest filters. I have air deflectors. Weather stripping. Blackout curtains & a great thurmostat. My AC functioned perfectly prior and was only replaced due to age along with the furnace. There is no excuse why after over $7.5k I do not have a working HVAC system. The company needs to stand by their work and rectify the situation. The company also gives a nice little discount for any customers who leaves a 5 star review.... if u look at how many negative reviews they have and the argumentative replies from the buisness to anyone who has something negative to say... well.. I see why they have to do this. I have provided photos to show what I've gone through with each visit and documented as much as possible to share. I have tried to be nice and gave the company way to many chances. I'm all for supporting local businesses and thought that this was a truly reputable buisness to go with as a 23 year old woman at the time just wanting the best for my first home. However I can't help but feel like I've been completely taken advantage of at this point. So I hope this review saves others from being in my same situation. read more

Very bad service. Came in for fix AC but didn't do anything and charged $152 for nothing. I feel confused. They better hire somebody who has a good experience and know how to fix AC. Next day my husband found some body who work independently and he fixed an hour and charged much less. I feel sorry myself to call them. Never call them again. Very bad experience. read more

My AC died over the holiday weekend. Rick came out and initially told me it needed a new capacitor and then said I needed a new relay switch. THEN said oh it wasn't the capacitor or the relay switch but it was low on coolant and he couldn't add coolant because it is no longer made and will be illegal to use after 2020. Okay, so what do I do now? He said the only thing to do is replace the whole unit that uses the newer coolant. Charged me $200.00 and did not fix a thing. Not ten minutes later a salesman called and said he would be happy to sell me a whole new unit. What a scam! I called Jim Holder and the repairman came out and added coolant. Problem solved. I totally understand about the new regulations but I am sure I am not the only one that will need repairs before 2020. Do not call Allen Heating and Cooling. Ever. read more

This is probably the worst experience I've had with a business they inspected my furnace told me 65 for a service call but afterwards charged me 260 and told me I needed a new furnace and left me in the cold say they could replace it next week.I then called another furnace place who cam rt out and inspected and told me my blower motor was out and fixed the problem allen heating told me 2800 for a new furnace.I called them and asked for a refund for the service fee they laughed at me and said it's no way it's fixed and there not giving back shit.I wouldn't recommend them to my enemy read more

WARNING!! Deceitful and unethical practices! Check their charges! For an AC repair on July 13 2016 I was charged $219.oo for a Capacitor (part) that retails for $6.42 and I was charged $230.oo for Hardstart kit (part) that retails for $28.oo. I discovered this unethical up-charge when the parts failed 3 weeks later. Much more to this story and I am in dispute over the charges but CONSUMER BEWARE!! read more

Anytime before entering the house they quickly put on shoe covers as not to track anything in. They were very efficient and my husband and I were very pleased. I received a call form a tenant at 9am one very cold morning telling me the the fire department just left . Due to a burning smell in the furnace . Allen H and C was able to get out , within an hour and a half , It was determined that the old furnace had lived it's useful existence and would need to be replaced , I could not be there the next day for them to in stall the furnace , Jeff went out of his way to meet me in the evening , during a snow /ice storm , to sine the paper work and get a key to the house , they got their the next day and removed the old one installed a new one . Did a very neat job and we're done by 10:30 am , I was very happy with the service they provided , and will definitely use them in the future. read more

I called because our air conditioner was not working. I was told they could come the next day between 12-4pm. I took off work to wait at home. They did not show up until 5:30 and that was after me calling the on call tech who came right away (not sure when the normally scheduled tech would have arrived). No call from the office updating me on the tech's status. I took off work for no reason! When the technician Sean came to my house he looked at the unit and told me he had "bad news." He stated that the capacitor was broken and he replaced it but because it was out it caused the system fan to fail because it was over working. He told me it would be $576 to replace but that it could be under warranty and that his office would check the next morning. I did have to pay the $74 service fee for this. The next day I was called and told that I had to use Axberg because that is what my warranty covered. Axberg came out and I showed them the quote that Allen wrote up and the notes on the capacitor being replaced. The tech at Axberg had my husband and I go out to the unit with him and he showed us that Sean from Allen in fact NEVER replaced the capacitor!!! The old one was still in there. As soon as the capacitor was replaced the fan and unit kicked on right away. It works perfectly now! Allen was trying to get a $576 job done when in fact the fan was never broken!! Had Axberg not come out, my husband and I would have paid that much money for work that did not have to be done! They were going to take advantage of us and the fact that we do not know much about air conditioning units. I would highly recommend never using them to do any work for you! They are a scam!! I have been trying to get ahold of Tom, the owner since Friday morning and he is always busy and has not returned my calls! read more

I called Allen heating & cooling about diagnosing an issue with my AC unit and was told that the diagnostic cost would be $69. The company then sent out a gentleman named Isaac who was clearly new to the field and needed to make a phone call to confirm every answer for every single question that he was asked. Issac initially diagnosed the problem as the blower motor but after making one of his many phone calls, he was told that he'd have to replace the module before even working on the blower motor. Isaac had to make many phone calls and couldn't even give a correct estimate without making a mistake. He then told us the price for him coming out would be $99 as opposed to the $69 that we were originally told due to him going 15 minutes over the half hour. However, we were told the diagnostic cost was a flat rate of $69, we were never told that it was only for the first half hour and not to mention the fact the diagnosing wouldn't have taken that long if Allen heating and cooling would have sent out an experienced technician who didn't have to make several phone calls which attributed to the 15 extra minutes of labor. read more

This is an unreliable company at best. They took over for a good company and have driven the skill set into to the ground. I have worked with about 10 HVAC companies, including Black Diamond and Axeberg, and Allen is the worst. They are unreliable and continue to hire unskilled technicians. The techs lack common sense and basic skills and do not take responsibility for their mistakes. I worked with a handful of techs at this company over the years, and the only one that was good/very skilled, left the company. So we left. read more

They tried to sell me a run capacitor for $136. They are only $5 - $10 anywhere online or at Cresent electric. I even looked up the exact part number when he set the box down. Couldn't believe that I bought a service contract with them the previous year. What a sham. He told me the capacitor was not putting out the 5 mirco-farads that it was supposed to and it had to be replaced. He told me the price and I told him to hold off. I broke out my Fluke multimeter after he left and it was fine. It just goes to show you that given the chance they will try to take you. They probably didn't bank on me being an engineer... Also, I'm not in Beverly Hills, CA. I just do not want them knowing who posted this ;) read more

Our ten-year-old air conditioning unit seemed to run fine, but the air coming out of the vents just didn't feel as cool as it should. I suspected we needed coolant added. Of course heat indexes of 98 and 102 are expected within the next day or two and we were expecting out-of-town company. I called Allen Heating and Air on the recommendation of my mother-in-law. They arrived at our house about an hour after my call! Sure enough, the unit was leaking coolant. They fixed the problem and were out of the house in around 30 minutes. The techs were very nice, polite and professional. I thought the prices were a little high, $347.00, but I was happy they got the job done before the hot weather really hit. Allen does offer a Service Club Membership for $189.00 annually, which includes furnace and AC tune-ups, 10% off repairs and services, no overtime charges, etc. That is probably a good way to go. Overall, I am happy with them, but I probably could have found someone to do the same job for a lot less. read more

14 month old ac unit failed in the hottest days of this summer. very disappointed with the trane system and especially with allen heating and cooling. had to order the part, took one week to get the part. never received a call from the company. staff very uncaring and unfriendly. would not recommend using trane system or this company read more

We have had 3 techs and 5 visits to service our air conditioner within the last 5 weeks. After the initial routine visit for a tuneup, the system was declared OK, but really was still limping along. After a major part was replaced & the system was pronounced OK again, but no improvement was seen. Another major part later (total now $800+), the tech said that he had advised us the system was shot at the initial visit (which was definitely NOT the case!) with another very expensive repair in the offing. The last major part may have been entirely unnecessary, but tech put it in anyway. Tech dissed other techs past and present. His final diagnosis (if accurate) should have been caught with his first visit but certainly passed without any comment at the time. Had to call office multiple times to check on ordered part status and/ or schedule appointments. Not going to use the annual maintenance contract, which was a waste of money given actual performance. read more
