We've seen such tremendous change in our child's bite being at Axelrode just under a year. Dr. Axelrode is great at explaining what the treatment plan is and answers all questions you may have. His staff is also very responsive if you call in with a concern or question. We were worried about braces but Stacey, our orthodontic assistant, was AMAZING. Our child was very nervous but Stacey walked her through everything she was doing and built confidence and trust. I highly recommend Stacey, and genuinely wish she had put in my braces when I was a kid! The staff in general is kind. We had one less than ideal experience with a staff member but it was a single instance and haven't seen that staff member since. They also give "ortho bucks" at each appointment that kids can trade in for toys or gift cards. It's something our child looks forward to at the end of each appointment. read more

I was recommended Axelrode orthodontics by a friend who got Invisalign at their Vallejo office. The closest one to me was Moraga and still it was 1 hour away from me. I decided to go in for a consultation and had to take my infant twin boys. Right away I was greeted with friendly smiles and a kind welcome. I immediately knew this was the place I wanted to get my Invisalign from. And glad I did! My bottom teeth had shifted very badly after loosing my retainers when I was in high school. After 2 years of Invisalign, my teeth are perfectly straight again and I'm no longer ashamed to smile! I saw Dr. Eric Axelrode and he is very kind and understanding of me having to take my twins with me at almost all my appointments. The staff would try to help and keep my boys happy and entertained while I had my check up. Everyone is amazing, caring, and super sweet. My daughter and son have been going to this place since last year. My daughter had a removable expander, and within 2 months of wearing it 3 pieces of the metal part came off, each piece one week apart (basically, the expander slowly disintegrated over 3 weeks). We couldn't go in after the first piece came off as we were on holiday overseas. We were super lucky that my 8 year old girl did not choke on any of the pieces while eating or sleeping. Today, my son almost choked on the sharp metal piece that came off HIS fixed expander. Pictures attached. I am now worried that his fixed expander will start disintegrating, similar to my daughter's. This incident was the last straw that made me write this review. Not sure what brand of expander the doctor uses (I doubt its quality) but those incidents make me extremely worried to continue going there with my kids. I was unable to contact the clinic with this emergency on Saturday. They are closed. I am praying no additional pieces come off until the clinic is open again on a Monday. read more

Both of my children are in the first phase of braces and I am SO happy that we selected Axelrode Orthodontics! The office is lovely, the staff are friendly, professional, and kind to the kids, and the scheduling runs like clockwork. The results so far have been amazing. But the reason I chose to write this review today is because of the amazing patient care my daughter received today (Saturday). The wire on her expander snapped last night and was sticking her in the tongue. It's the weekend and the office isn't open. When I realized that our efforts at pain control were clearly not working, and waiting till Monday wasn't an option, I contacted their on-call line and explained the problem. Dr Axelrode himself jumped in his car and met us five minutes later, smile on his face, and removed the offending wires. He was so kind and understanding, which I really appreciated because my daughter was worried that someone would be mad at her for the inconvenience. I highly recommend Dr Axelrode and his staff. My daughter sees another orthodontist in the area. But I needed a second opinion on her ortho's recommendation for oral surgery, and a friend of a friend recommended Dr. Axelrode's office. When I called to request an appointment, they were extremely kind and caring and agreed to provide a consultation. When my child and I met with the staff and Dr. Axelrode, I couldn't have been more pleased with they way they treated us and the valuable advice they provided. I'm so grateful that they gave us their time even knowing that were are already under treatment with another orthodontist office. By comparison, I had first called Dr. Sammann's office in Lafayette to ask for help with a second opinion, and the woman who answered the phone acted like it was very rude that I would even ask Dr. Sammann to provide a second opinion on another local orthodontist's diagnosis and told me that no, they wouldn't take the appointment. In my mind, oral surgery is still surgery. And you always get a second a opinion before subjecting your 8-year-old child to anesthesia and surgery. Thankfully, Dr. Axelrode cares about children and believes in helping people make the best decisions. Much appreciated! read more
