I was in town for a charity event through work and my bottom wire for braces popped out too much. It hurt to talk and eat. I needed it fixed as I wasn't going home for a few days. I was really only looking for it to be snipped or get wax strips to hold me over until I flew home. Not only did they help; they fixed the wire entirely. I went here for a consultation because my permanent wired retainer broke after 10 years from another office. I was wanting to see if I need a replacement. The staff (Vallejo office) is so nice from the time I made the appointment on the phone to the day of the visit. (I also asked on the phone to make sure the consultation is free because sometimes some office would only give you a free consultation if you do a service with them, but they assured me it is a free consultation). The front desk was so nice. The receptionist offered coffee and water while waiting. And I only waited like 5 minutes after checked in, then a gentleman called me in to take X-rays, and full view pictures of my teeth. Then I was taken to another room by Patricia, the treatment coordinator, for cost of any retainer replacement that I need. Then the orthodontist came in to check my teeth again with measurements. She was so nice, honest, and genuine. She said because I wear a night guard at night, it acts as a retainer so I won't need a replacement if I don't want to. Patricia was so nice and honest, too, and gave me some good tips on brushing. She talked about other options but I don't need to mention here. I wanted to say how nice the staff is here and I would recommend anyone with orthodontics needs to come to this office. They are genuine and honest, and I appreciate them. I was recommended to Dr. Axlerode by my dentist Dr. Pickett just across the parking lot to begin the journey of straightening my teeth. At the first consultation they provide a lot of information so take a pen! They show you examples of the different braces options and talk about length of treatments as well as costs. I decided to go with the Invisalign treatment. They send you information electronically to set up a payment plan if needed which I appreciated not all orthodontists offer such flexible payment options so I'm really happy I came here. My wait time has never been more than 10 minutes if that for any appointment I've had. Also when you book your next appointment they tell you approximately how long you can expect the appointment to be which is handy information if you need to request time off work. I am very happy with the results of my Invisalign treatment and what I appreciate is that Dr. axlerode asked me if I was happy with my smile or if there was anything I wanted to change as the orthodontist he didn't just make that decision for me! That was wonderful. Everyone in the office is so personable. They are very responsive to messages too and they are warriors fans! Go in on game day you'll see warriors gear! Added bonus! Dr Mark is the best Orthodontist I have had. I first saw him when I decided I needed to get braces on my teeth. I'm an extremely picky person and did my research. Everyone on his staff are kind and accommodating with scheduling. Unfortunately I had to end my orthodontic treatment early due to moving, but I would definitely if I could stay with Dr Mark and the Axelrode team. Very professional and always answered my questions and anything that worried me about my team. The lady's up front where fast and courteous when it came to canceling my payment plans early on. I just completed Invisalign treatment with Axelrode Orthodontics in Vallejo. At the first meeting, they clearly explained my options and recommended Invisalign to close a gap between my front two teeth. It was much cheaper and took far shorter than I expected, and the Invisalign trays were very discrete and painless. I was beyond happy with my outcome. More importantly, the staff was friendly and the Doctors and Assistants were excellent at their craft while maintaining a friendly atmosphere. I just moved to the area and am still receiving orthodontic treatment in San Francisco. When I noticed one of my wires was poking me I was unenthused about the idea of driving all the way to the city for such a small adjustment and when I called Axelrode they were able to fit me in the same afternoon. The staff are phenomenal-- warm and friendly, flexible, and professional. They were able to cut the offending wire (and make a few other necessary adjustments that I had failed to perceive) and I was in and out in under 10 minutes. Let me start off by first noting that up until today my daughter has had a pleasant experience at this office. Today was not what I would call a pleasant or professional experience. My child is sixteen so I usually wait in the parking lot while she is at her appointment, I truly am reconsidering letting her go in without my watchful eye next time. She was handled by the first assistant who was nice and successfully changed out her bottom wires, but the problem came with the top wires. After three attempts of putting on and pulling off the wire, and all along poking and jarring my daughter's gums, cheek, and teeth, the assistant finally recognized that she couldn't complete the task. So she called for help from a second assistant, in my opinion I think she waited too long to ask for help. This next assistant did a better job of not poking and jarring her mouth. Sadly, she also couldn't complete the task. In comes Dr. Axelrode, he also tries to place her wire and tells her to expect a lot of pressure and to raise her hand if it's too much. She had to raise her hand three times and the Dr agreed that it wasn't going to work and removed the wire altogether. Dr. Axelrode then removed the wire, examined the wire, then looked at his staff and gestured by saying, "guys, really?!!" The staff came around to look at the wire and he tells the staff that the wire was too big and asked for a smaller wire and tells my child sorry that wire is too big and that it won't fit in your mouth!!! When my daughter comes out from the office, I see behind her mask her eyes are full of tears. She was traumatized to say the least by this experience. Sadly, we have to continue going to this place until her braces are ready to come off. We hope for better service here in the future. read more

I came in for a consult last year w/ Dr.Eric as i suffer from TMJ & was ref. by my old dentist to discuss Invisalign at the the time bc my TMJ is so severe. Everything seemed fine. Dr.Eric was ok too. He didn't seem to care much of my TMJ, he said it may or may not help but I had worse issues. I had an open bite & that my back teeth were the only two teeth touching, i'd either need crowns or lose my back molars all together in the next 10-15 yrs if i didn't get it corrected ASAP due to the impact my molars receive. Metal braces were the only option in this case. He said I was only 23 &that's a very short time for my teeth and my teeth should last me much longer than that. I was pretty freaked out at this point, I wanted to get them on after he said that ASAP bc I have amazingly straight teeth other than this tiny open bite you cant visibly notice, i eat fine except things like a thin piece of lettuce. Dr.Eric also said despite what he could do, my tongue thrust was a major issue and would be an issue despite the braces & I needed to fix it before anything else or it would be pointless to have braces. He sent me home with some ways to fix my tongue thrust. So I asked about lingual braces & he said they only have them at UCSF med center & nowhere else & would be costly. Mind you, I was quoted a little over SIX thousand dollars at the end!! (Not yet including insurance) i spoke with Julie(i think that was her name)and said starting jan'17 i will have dual insurance so that'll cover majority of the cost so I will wait even though he suggests I get them ASAP for financial reasons. I started my search 6 months early to make plans so I could roughly figure out how much I'd need to put aside for the out of pocket cost. I also informed her I will make a final decision around Nov or Dec since I want to see a few other offices for a consult during the waiting time. She agreed & would note that in their system. She informs me that the quote is only good for a year(it says on the paper too) July 2016 I get a message from Julie, I return the call &the front desk tells me she was following up to see what I am deciding about treatment. I inform them I would not be starting treatment until Jan2017 due to insurance reasons. I end up speaking with Julie & she apologizes and says she'll update my file. A few weeks later I get a letter in the mail saying that my quote is only good for a few more weeks, etc etc. Thats not what the quote I have says but I decided that was the last straw & i wouldn't be returning. Mind you, they are 5 minutes from my home, too. The other reasons I had decided not to go with them were: 1. Found a bunch of orthos within 15-20 minute drives from me who do lingual braces. 2. Seen 2 other orthos in the process. none brushed off my tmj the way Dr.Eric did, they admitted they couldn't guarantee it would fix it but suggested it would definitely help to some degree if not all together. 2.They both did acknowledge wire braces were the only route. Since i didnt want wires on the front for a long time, i was also given the option to do partial Invisalign and the last 6 months wire fronts(although this was the most expensive & not something I wanted.) 3. I was told that while at the very worst, it could be possible to lose my molars but they couldn't begin to guess how long but that isn't a concern in their honest opinion. Waiting a while was completely fine & while they recommend fixing my open bite, there is no rush to fix it right then and there & it could wait a few years if need be for financial reasons. 4. B/c i have an open bite, after being educated on this more & if I had successfully fixed my tongue thrust before my bite closed I would've began spitting on others while I talked or ate. 5. This office was trying to charge me 6k for the wire with the white/clear brackets while both of the other offices quoted me between 4k-5k for the white/clear wire as well) Axelrode office definitely rips you off. I believe Dr.Eric tried to scare me into getting braces asap to get my $, not sure if it was b/c i was young or what. Will post my quote when I get a chance to dig through my filing system as well.. Well, it is now april 2017 and I just went with lingual 3m incognito braces with another office and paid 7k. Sure, I pay a little more but better quality in every way! read more

I started out when it was Dr. Freer's office. It was wonderful then. The staff is still mostly awesome, however after my son's braces were removed it was like pulling teeth for me as a parent to get a return phone call from the doctor in regards to after care of my son's teeth. I called and left at least 3, maybe 4 messages for Dr. Axelrode. He didn't call back until about the 4th message. By then My son & I had concluded our own decisions in regards to after care for his teeth. It's probably safe to say that if they needed more money for the cost of ortho care for my son, they would have NO problems getting in contact with me. On the plus side though, his teeth do look great. read more
