I told him my issues and he spent at least 10-15 minutes listening to me and was sure that he could help me. (I was locked out of One Drive with years of files and photos potentially lost forever, I thought I had been hacked with ransomware and was ready to trash my desk top and laptops based on what the other IT guy had told me!). The next day I went in and I knew I was in the right place within the first few minutes of visiting with them. I showed them several issues that had occurred simultaneously, so I didn't know how it was all tied together or which happened first. They were able to retrieve my email, found a copy of my One Drive and helped me set up a new One Drive Account that was an exact duplicate of what I had lost!! Initially, the dweebs at Geek Squad came to mind - but I've used them before and I have never been satisfied with the level of support or the response-time it takes to get someone to commit to helping me by a specified time. To me, the measure of a service provider is the turnaround time. I didn't have 5 days to wait, let alone 48 hours. So I nixed the Geek Squad and took to a local search on the Internet to see if I might find a genius who could nurse my laptop back to life and retrieve my docs. I located a local firm, Element 26, and sent an email inquiry highlighting my problem. I was pleasantly surprised to receive an email and a call from Element26 within a few hours of my initial message. By the next day, my computer was operating once more. The gentleman was able to quickly diagnose the issues with my computer and went to work to fix my machine. Amongst the things he did was help partition the computer, eliminate some of the 'clutter' and things that were bugging my operating system that caused the system to crash and/or lock-up. I consider myself fairly advanced with computers, but whatever he did was more behind-the-scenes, under-the-hood-of-the-car-esque. My computer hasn't had a bit of problem since, but if it should, I'm going to speed dial Element 26. Definitely go to them if you're in need of computer support and you don't want to advertise to the world that you've got Geeks on-site who drive white-and-orange VW beetles. And if you're wondering - their guys looks like normal dudes with a healthy skin color who doesn't stay indoors all day to play World of Warcraft and computer games. He's a ninja with both hardware and software, and let me say he can write great code, too. When professional diagnostic tools can't find a bad infection, Lenny goes into the Windows registry and reads the code line for line, identifies bad code, and disables it, thus killing the worse of bugs. He will make an encrypted mirror copy of your hard drive to save your data if possible, and I've seen him save data from a rapidly dying drive using dry ice to keep it from over heating just in time. That is genius, folks. He's the only tech I know who does that. His wife, Opel, is a pro with the laptops. She may be into tablets and smart phones by now - not sure about that; however, usually she tackles the laptops, and runs the office. If I'm willing to drive over 70 miles for their help, how much more can I express to you, my confidence in Lenny and Opel doing the best work you can get? To me, Lenny is the smartest computer tech I've seen in Texas; no question about it. One final thought regarding a very negative review from 2015 for BKE here. When the customer said she had a computer degree and checked her machine's RAM and hard drive, it made me smile. RAM is solid state cards, and at worse, they might have a poor connection to the socket they go into. A pencil eraser fixes that. However, three things break down the most in computers: hard drives (that spin at 7200 rpm and wear out), power supplies (due to heat), and keyboards and/or the mouse from usage. Sometimes laptops screens will go bad, and Opel is the person to change them. From what she said in the review, I'd bet money the hard drive was dying. Moving parts are usually the first to break down. CPU fans are another one for that. I can just see Lenny and Opel telling her the hard drive needed to be replaced; however, they are pricey, and the lady probably did not believe them. Then when it died, She blamed the technicians. And I know, Lenny has all the diagnostic tools he needs to repair machines. Most of the time you just need the machine you're working on, and the knowledge what wrong - looks like. If you get my drift. Lenny and Opel will provide the best service, for a fair price. BKE is the best shop in North Texas - no doubt about it.

BACK UP EVERYTHING half the computers I've taken here came back with the hard drives wiped clean. The other half got lost & he doesn't seem motivated to do anything about that. 2. Call before visiting. some shops would call you if there's been a delay. Most will call or email when the work is done. That's not Jimmy's style, so if he told you it would be ready last week, save yourself a trip by calling to make sure. 3. don't bring the charging cable. he's got plenty that will work with most devices & will probably lose yours anyway. 4. be patient James doesn't have a great short term memory & may ask several times what your name is & what brand your computer was & what he was doing to it. maybe put the important info on a notecard affixed to the device. large print. 5. inspect the device before leaving with it. did he put all the screws back in? does it boot up? this could save you a trip or two. 6. Try it yourself first. there are probably a few videos online that explain what you need done. DON'T UNDERESTIMATE YOURSELF! you can do hard things well. if you get stuck or don't have the time, Jimmy's got you. 7. make your device unique Jimmy's got a dozen stacks of silver & black laptops & tablets. put stickers on yours or paint a corner with nail polish. bring it in a neon green box or something.
