Hi, No, not a mistake, we took three Gabbeh rugs to Ayoub prior to our move out of MD. As the three rugs were rolled and wrapped when we picked them up after cleaning, we didn't open the rugs until we had moved to our new home, and renovations and move-in were complete. One of the rugs was perfectly cleaned; another had some snags and a bit of discoloration; and the third rug was all snagged strains of carpet. That particular rug was in perfect, beautiful shape when taken to Ayoub, but was a mess when finished. There's no doubt that the person who did the rug had to have noticed the damage, but we were never informed. read more

I just got home from Ayoub in Kensington remembering that they had a great reputation I chose them to care for a 5x8 rug I have at the entrance to my home that shows no wear it jmust had a stain from my mini schnauzer who does not urinate in the house, but had developed a bladder infection and urinated once on the rug and I wanted the stain removed although I used to live in Montgomery county I now live in Carroll county so [[HIGHLIGHT]]I drove 1 1/2 hours to Kensington to get this rug cleaned.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] As others have stated the the contract stated whatever. While I understand not being able to guarantee the colors won't bleed, why not do a test on a corner before ruining the entire rug? On top of that, the odors were not eliminated (an aging pet had an accident). Would have been kinder to charge a smaller fee to tell us rug was unnsaveable. I have used Ayoub on two occasions to clean freestanding area rugs, long runners and the entry rug. If you choose to relate your rugs instead of having them cleaned-- you really should try Ayoub on Metropolitan ave in Kensington. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I brought my rugs to them and then realized that they can pick up and deliver that was definitely more convenient.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I have the same rugs that can be switched out every six months or every year to be cleaned. The cost is more reasonable than rep purchasing and they come out super clean and have no interesting Smells like dog or chemicals. That's a plus when you have pets for sure. You can even have them wrapped in plastic or paper to keep them dust free if you need to store them for a while. The cost of carpeting can be a little expensive if you especially if you get a good carpet so it's nice to just be able to clean them and they come out super clean even my front door inside Matt, which was heavily traveled and dirty. I am hooked on this company. They are definitely reasonable and less expensive than going out to purchase new carpeting. Please consider giving them a try. I needed two rugs cleaned that had very visible dinginess in the high traffic area across each of them (areas where there was furniture on top, it was obviously very clean still.) A friend suggested this carpet cleaning company and that they had coupons available online. They weren't terribly expensive rugs to begin with so every time I had previously thought to have them cleaned I changed my mind because of the cost. Because there was a Groupon I decided to go ahead and have it done because they were offering pick up and delivery of the rugs as well. Seemed like a very good deal. Even with the significant discount of the Groupon, my bill was still about $400 for cleaning two rugs. When they were returned to me the dinginess around the high traffic areas was still very obvious and prominent. I was disappointed but chalked it up to the fact that these were not terribly expensive rugs to begin with and maybe because they were cheap rugs the dirt was just ground in and there was no way to really get them clean. Fast forward to about a month later when I spilled something on the rug. I got out my Bissell Spot Bot to clean up the spill and low and behold, now I have very distinct clean circles where my wet vac cleaned the rug sufficiently with no problem. And this is not any kind of intensive cleaning, it's simply sprays water with a cleaning solution onto the spot scrubs it for about one minute and then sucks up the water. So if my spot bot can clean it that easily, what did I pay $400 for? Update: I do appreciate your response and follow up. However this is how the rug looks on the areas where furniture was previously. The cream color of the rug is just now back to cream. The dark colors appear to be intact. And even if it did lighten it, your process did not clean the dirty part much at all. We were able to place the furniture back exactly where it had been based on the fact that the high traffic areas were still so dingy. I feel like your process should've worked the first time. read more

Very disappointed about my last interaction with this company that just occurred today. They had possession of my rugs for almost a year and a half and upon receiving the rugs again, I had concerns about potential damage. The company could not confirm that the damage was there when it originally picked up the rug. The owner of the company, with whom the service professionals had me speak, was dismissive and rude. I have used them in the past for furniture cleaning and had better results. This last experience was so disappointing that I will not go back again. Follow-up - To address the company's response to the review - The response is being delivered in a much more polite tone than was communicated at the time of our call today. As mentioned in the first review, the owner seemed confused, rude, and a bit hostile when we spoke. It's easier to be nice on a public website after you get a bad review, I guess. Also, the rug photos the owner referenced were provided for the first time today, and they did not have the digital time and date stamp on it that most digital photos have, which was a concern that the owner rudely dismissed. Also the damage to the rug that we saw today had not been described in the inspection document that the company completed 16 months ago upon receipt of the rug (although other issues with the rug had been noted at that time, such as fringe damage). Since we were being treated so disrespectfully and were unsure about the quality of the services provided given the damage to the rug, we did not trust the company enough to give them access to our rug again to "repair." Are six stars possible? Everything this company has ever done for me has turned out just great, but I recently gave them a real challenge. I bought a rug I love in New Delhi about 25 years ago and when I got back to the US, I put it in a basement guest bedroom, where it languished under full assault from multiple cats, large deck plants over-wintering, grandchild playtimes, an invasive insect attack, and a final blow: a blocked sump pump that flooded it. It was a mess. Ayoub N&H techs even moved my piano to rescue it and take it off for an extended spa treatment. It returned spotless, with the damaged border beautifully trimmed and sewn, new fringe, and new padding. It looks gorgeous. It was well worth the $$. I am delighted. read more

I asked them to clean three rugs. When they delivered them, the smallest one was fine, but the other two large rugs had identical-looking splotches on them that weren't there before. Several weeks later, they delivered the two rugs, one of which had been fixed and looked good (no splotches). The other rug looked the same, with the splotches and just a general dingy look. This is the only time I've had a rug "cleaned" that returned in worse condition than when it was picked up. Had to call three times to receive a quote after Mike the sales rep had come to my home and didn't bring the samples that were supposed to be brought. After my third call to request my quote, the person I spoke with was rude and surly and we agreed not to do business. I then went to two other businesses that had the same carpet and was treated with respect and prompt service. I'm glad that we agreed not to do business. I can only imagine the potential nightmare of dealing with them after they had my money. I can only assume that they expect clients to put up their nasty attitude or go somewhere else. Our family has benefitted over many years from the excellent service Ayoub N&H has consistently provided, at a cost that is extremely reasonable. More than a decade ago, we had some oversize carpets cleaned and stored with Ayoub; they were returned to us in beautiful condition, and the cost of storage was so fair it made it possible for us to leave the carpet until we were ready to have it back in our home. Ayoub has also done furniture cleaning in our home, with very good results. Most recently, an upholstered chair got stained, and within a day or two of exchanging emails with Matt, the van was here to collect the chair for cleaning and re-coloring. The final result was beautiful, and delivered in less than three working days. I believe one of Ayoub's great assets is the people it employs. Every time I have called to arrange for a service, the staff have been extremely professional, knowledgeable, and accommodating. The firm has mastered all of the tools for digital communications, including text alerts to notify you when the driver is on his way. We had a local shop ruin a handmade oriental carpet with color bleed making a third of it an awful dark blue and killing the pattern (note to self - do not repeat this mistake). I just had a horrible experience with this company. Their website says they service Maryland. I called last week and had an appointment scheduled for tomorrow. I had made arrangements for them to enter the facility. Their scheduler just called me to tell me they don't service my area of Maryland and canceled on me. This was after I had made arrangements with others to be there. Their scheduler did not even try to be polite about it. Very unprofessional. Their website is misleading. I've used Ayoub several times over the years...I was so happy when they brought my carpets back as they were soooo vibrant. The colors looked enhanced! There were two "orientals" with deep rust/green/blue/butter yellow. One had fringe that need a "haircut" badly. Matt explained things to me so well, and patiently, exactly what the process was. They used the band of the current rug to create the shorter fringe so that there was nothing added which would ruin its handmade integrity. It looks so "well groomed" now. They also cleaned a 3 year old carpet (wool, mostly off-white) from C&B. I'd mistakenly used a vacuum with the roller on and it had created little tufts in a few places. Not only was the carpet brilliantly cleaned, the tufts are gone, and can't hell where they once were at all. Like new! And the young men who picked up and delivered the carpets were so nice, patient and accommodating. All carpets were relaid perfectly,furniture positioned, and my house is back to even better than normal again. Will definitely use Ayoub again and again. read more

The company is the epitome of great customer service. Ayoub was my third call in regards to cleaning a rug damaged by service workers. They were very reasonable in regards to pricing. (Another company had quoted me $125 just for pick up./drop off) I completely handled all of my business with them via phone/email. We scheduled a pick up and drop off date over the phone. Via email, they informed me of the damage and their ability to remove all of the stains.They followed up twice after they completed the service to ensure that I was satisfied and to answer any further questions. They have excellent delivery service and were very responsive via email/phone. They promptly answered all of my questions and gave me solid advice on how to move forward. I have upwards of 10 persian rugs in my parent's home and it's hard trusting someone with that kind of merchandise, ya know? But yay to Yelp for posting a discount to this place (which was honored!). I was hesitant to hire someone to clean my rugs but I can't resist a deal. And it was seriously time to get them cleaned... This was the first time I've had my rugs cleaned so I had a ton of questions about the whole process. Andrew was really great about explaining everything and making my parents comfortable to hire them (they are foreign and paranoid). The wool rug we own was our biggest concern, but Andrew assured me that they can clean it without damaging anything. They honored the yelp discount and even provided free pick-up and delivery. Even though Ayoub N&H Carpet & Rugs gave me a great deal on everything, the 5 stars is for the service. In my experience, service companies like this are usually run by aggressive and pushy guys trying to screw a girl over with extra costs she doesn't need. I guess everyone's experiences with these guys vary. I went with them based on the amazing yelp reviews. we live in a townhouse. I called them and spoke to two different people regarding a quote. I had a very small guest room, 38 stairs, and a rug on the top floor that needed cleaning, I told both people on the phone, and both said that it should cover the minimum price, which is $150. since they also had a Yelp discount, I thought it was a no brainer. we both got started on the wrong foot. when the two guys came, the evaluated the place, and gave us a quote of $250. excuse me? what happen to the $150 two people quoted us? well, apparently, they consider each stairway as a separate area. they never told us that it was priced by area. so if you had a tiny 2x2 rug, or a section with only three steps up, that is considered an "area." we had scheduled our day around these guys, and now they were increasing the price. we were not having it. they initially wouldn't budge, and left. soon after, the manager called back and apologized for the misunderstanding. I'm sorry, it wasn't a misunderstanding from our part. we were quoted the same price by 2 different representatives, and on the day of arrival, the price is increased by $100 based on the fact that my stairs were not 38 continuous stairs, but partitioned? they offered to reschedule and perform the cleaning at the quoted price. I was fed up, but went with them. they did arrive on time, did a decent job, not great, but decent. the two guys that did it were nice enough. off the bat, they said they probably weren't able to get all the stains out of our guest room, since it was white. i guess its a good way of setting the bar low. they were right, they weren't able to get all the stains out... read more

It was quick and easy to get a quote for my kilim rug to be cleaned (which was cheaper than their competitor and with no pick-up/delivery fee). We scheduled a window of time for it to be picked up and the delivery guys (who were super-polite, boy scout types) came at the beginning of the window so I didn't have to wait around much at all. The rug was cleaned very well and the white of the rug stayed white despite it being a mostly red rug! I also like that when I asked what they thought the chances were of the red bleeding onto the white, they said that they couldn't guarantee anything...this is much better, in my opinion, than over-promising. My dog got into some fertilizer and threw up black gunk all over the rug. There were also some coffee stains courtesy of my son.I took it to Ayoub and they warned me it wouldn't be perfect but when I picked it up, I was delighted. No it's not perfect and it doesn't look brand new. But it looked so much better and the stains are very faint. I have a silk area rug that, between my toddler, my dog, and my own propensity to spill coffee, badly needed cleaning. I didn't know if the rug would be washable, and contacted Ayoub to ask what could be done. They picked up the rug for free, evaluated it, contacted me to say the dyes were unstable but offered a dry-cleaning instead of washing for the same price, and emailed for my approval of the updated invoice. I approved and they dropped off my beautifully cleaned rug for free.
