We stayed at Ayres in Alpine for Christmas and return a month later for a relaxing weekend. My husband and I love the old fashion country theme decorations, we found it relaxing and peaceful. There is this little shopping center down the hill with great selection of places to eat, no need to go get breakfast anywhere else cause they offer free morning breakfast with good choices and endless coffee. If you want to escape locally from the city rush, give this place a try. read more

I had a long talk with the General Manager, Tyler and I found out some of my concerns were unfounded. I retract my previous comments, ( couldn't find a delete option), and I am happy to say that the personal issue I had with Ayres Lodge was not their fault. ( I don't frequent hotels often). Tyler as very helpful with me and I was angry, but the accomodations were very nice and the continental breakfast was "over the top". We got great savings from hotels.com and even though we just got the basic king room, it was very nice, comfortable and service here is great. There is an at home feel here. My wife and I stayed here this past weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We wanted to visit a place we've never been before in California. We were pleasantly impressed with this particular lodge. The staff was friendly and eager to please. The rooms were elegant, clean and roomy, as well as comfortable. They even gave us a choice if we wanted to be on the upper or lower levels, and if we wanted a view of the courtyard or parking lot. The continental breakfast was fantastic! They offered everything from omelets to bagels, French toast, cereal and much more. They even had fresh fruit! Across the street are a variety of restaurants to choose from as well as a CVS and healthy market that was well organized with a clean atmosphere. The Ayres Lodge offered plenty of pamphlets of activities for things to do. We chose to do some hiking and visited the "Summer Past Farms". We loved our stay, and we will definitely stay here again next time we come back to visit Alpine, Ca. read more

After emailing with the general manager I feel a lot better about how the stay was handled. Unfortunately nothing can replace having our one night to spend away from the baby ruined by an uncomfortable bed but I was informed the room had an almost band new mattress that was probably was to firm for my liking (we have memory foam at home). He gave a partial refund and assured me the issue with the desk agent would be handled. Honestly it's unlikely we will come back since it would be just too much of a gamble but I very much appreciate the quick response to my complaint and would encourage anyone to check this place out if they are keen on staying in alpine (and if they like firm beds) read more

James at the front desk is an absolute delight. He is friendly, professional, and knows the area well. We drove up on a whim and stayed because of his service. The rooms have been remodeled and the hotel offers free coffee and cookies, as well as a continental breakfast. Nice clean comfy rooms, reasonably priced. My wife and I enjoyed the atthmosphere as well as the cool, fresh mountain air when we awoke in the morning. We will stay here again. read more

I am writing this review because it's not often I am suprised in a good way by a hotel. I had to stay here 1 night for a work appointment at one of the close-by casinos. I have to say, when I pulled up I was expecting the worst because it's off the highway in a strip mall. From the outside it looks a bit like a Motel 6. Don't be fooled. The front desk gal was very friendly even though my company screwed up my reservation and I was a little frustrated. She promised to give me a quiet room, and wow, it was great. Not only did I walk in to a completly quiet room, I was totally suprised by the wonderfully spotless clean room, quality furniture, including a nice work desk and huge comfortable bed - it had a nice shower and free wireless that was easy to sign on to. I can't say enough about how impressed I was after a 4 hour drive from LA. To top it off, there is Starbucks in your room and a decent free breakfast. The little courtyard was nice too. It's not a "resort" but I think it serves it's purpose extremely well. I would recommend this for the weary traveler, and people visiting family in the area and just want a nice place to sleep. The only thing I would improve is that the blanket was a little thin, so I was a bit chilly through the night. Other than that, I am quite impressed with this hotel. read more

My hubs and I have traditionally spent staycations at Viejas hotel, just a one or two night getaway from the grind. However, since we discovered Ayers, we have decided we were nuts to spend double the money at Viejas. Ayers offers a free shuttle to and from the casino. Ayers has a free breakfast and warm cookies in the evening. Except for the deluxe rooms, each room has a microwave, fridge, and coffee pot, plus a nice pool, jacuzzi and laundry room. It has a courtyard with tables and chairs as well as lounge chairs to relax in when the weather is not scorching. In the same parking lot is a delicious Chinese/Japanese restaurant, a great pancake place, and Carl's Jr. It has everything! For HALF THE PRICE! Tiffany at the front desk was sweet and friendly, and the wifi is free. We love this place. read more

Great hotel. The king delux room was spacious and clean, breakfast is good, there's so much green surrounding it which I love. The pool is heated during cold weather! Burger king, rite aid and other small resturants are at a walking distance from the hotel. The rooms look a bit vintage but I didn't mind it because the room was cozy and very clean! Daily housekeeping. The housekeepers and staff are very friendly. I've stayed here 3x and I've never had a bad experience! Will definitely be coming back. :) Due note: Their "gym" is super super super small but it's always empty! Oh and free parking! read more

Stayed at the hotel for 10 days while on a short-term internship for school. Super comfortable bed! Cookies every night. Breakfast every morning (nothing fancy - mostly muffins and bagels). Hidden gem!! I took my boyfriend to Vieja'a Casino for his birthday. At my dad's advice and because of the rates we decided to stay at the Ayres Lodge. So glad we did! Superrr comfy beds and VERY clean rooms for a great price! We found the staff to be very nice! The hotel has an out doors-y almost romantic vibe to it. The courtyard is a beautiful lawn surrounded by rocks with chairs, a BBQ and a small pond. Very cute. There's a spa and pool we didn't use but nice to have the option. Great part was being able to take the trolley to the casino! Plus the hotel has everything you could need around it. Highly recommend! read more

Very clean. Everyone friendly. Room 101 was quite even though it was facing the freeway and by the vending machines. They have a free shuttle to local casino and outlet mall. Return trip was in limo which was fun. Breakfast was basic but good. read more

I booked a room here because my family was staying at a nearby cabin and I have severe asthma which is triggered by feathers, so I couldn't stay at the cabin with them, as it has a bunch of feather pillows. 4 days before I was to stay at Ayers, I sent an email response to one of the MANY junk emails they sent me (5 in all, for a 1 night stay!), specifically mentioning my allergy and making sure that they didn't have any feather pillows/down comforters in my room. I received no response, so I assumed all was well. Cut to: I get to the hotel and check in fairly late at night. The front desk clerk, Jenn, was nice. She said she'd keep an eye on my truck, as there were some things in the bed of it that I didn't want wandering off. I went to my room and quickly discovered that there were feather pillows on the bed. When I went back to the front desk, I was told that ALL the pillows had feathers in them. I immediately checked out and asked for my credit card to be refunded. Jenn didn't have the power to do that, but she gave me her email so I could forward the email I had previously sent to her boss, Heather Scott, in case there was any question that I had already given them this information. I forwarded Jenn the email and received a response that it had been forwarded to Heather again. And so I waited to hear back from Heather. And I checked my credit card. No response and the charge was still there. I called her direct line. No answer. Left a message. No response. Three days and 2 more emails later, I still had no response from Heather Scott. So I went to the corporate site for Ayers and sent a message of complaint. I NEVER heard back from them, though the charge was eventually dropped from my card. Bottom line: Rooms are meh. The photos are taken with a super wide angled lens. It was WAY smaller than it looked in photos. Jenn was lovely (and the ONLY reason they are getting a second star, frankly). But hope that you don't have any issues at all, because Heather Scott and corporate are USELESS at customer service. Oh... and I hope you like getting a load of spam emails! Because THAT'S what you're getting if you book here! read more

We really enjoyed our stay at Ayres Lodge. Our room was clean and quiet, and the staff was very friendly. Their free breakfast had a large variety of foods, and there were freshly baked chocolate chip cookies every evening. The location was very conveniently situated for visiting both the Casino and Outlet Mall in Alpine, as well as the museums and zoo in San Diego. Their rates were also very reasonable. We will definitely stay there next time we visit San Diego. read more

Setting aside the horrible breakfast... I did not know that it was against the law to be in the grass area or out front at a certain time.... Now I understand if people are being loud or are in the pool area... But when a group of people can't hear a conversation more than ten feet away!!! You have to be kidding me and when I tried to ask the guy who was telling us we couldn't be there why it was that we couldn't he just walked away and ignored me... That's fine I will never stay at an Ayres again I would rather stay at a motel 6.... At least there they workers have the common courtesy to tell you why it is... I went here back in May for a large event, and I must say I was impressed with the whole lay out and scenery, it was beautiful and the rooms were clean and beds comfortable, The staff was cool too....We got there at about 6 am and though it took a lil while they let us check in...The pool and hot tub were clean also, beautiful weather in May... This place was not what I expected. The photos online made me think it was like a lodge and in the woods but its right between a shopping center and the highway. The construction going on started at 7am on a Saturday! The continental breakfast was as expected (unhealthy and boring). Nice hotel. We have stayed here a few times. They boast special ordered beds with double pillow tops. I didnt check myself, but the beds were definitely comfy. Everything in the room was clean. In fact the bathroom smelled like paint so they may have just remodeled our room. The shampoo provided is OK, and they also provide a nice little lotion and soap. One thing I didnt like is that they only provide enough coffee (and cups) for one cup of coffee. They do have a breakfast with coffee in the lobby, but I think they should provide at least two cups of coffee in the rooms. Breakfast offered cereal, oatmeal, juice, milk, sweet rolls, etc. There very well may have been more but I was only there a minute. There is a BBQ available for guest use, and a pool and hot tub (we didnt use any of these). read more

I've stayed here 3 weeks straight now for work with a new room each week. Front desk staff is friendly and helpful. My rooms have been clean and tidy and the cleaning service works around my equipment and belongings to keep the room neat. The beds are super comfy and I love the pillows. Only complaint is location, near the freeway and baseball fields, so if you try to hit the sack early, it can be a little noisy at times with engine brakes and parents cheering on their kid's team. It's on the spendy side, but my company picks up the bill, otherwise I would look for a better deal. O, and they do free, fresh baked cookies if you're into that. read more

We stayed here one night before going to San Diego because we had a gift certificate. I found it to be a cute and quaint ave. Clean rooms and all the staff members were friendly. We were in a Queen double bed deluxe room. The only negative thing was two dogs day and night were barking next store. Maybe next store was not a deluxe room? We didn't ask to move because we were their only one night. When I checked out I asked if pets were allowed and was told yes but not in deluxe rooms. That's why I was thinking maybe right next store was not deluxe. We stayed at Anaheim ayres and now here. I would stay again but I would make sure next time I am far away from a pet room :) seems As if the people were not there but the dogs were. I never heard people talking. Only heard dogs. read more

I have no complaints about this place at all. Its prices were decent and its right next to a awesome doughnut shop which I frequented during my stay. After the 9 hour drive from SF I couldn't wait to check in. I was tired of sitting in a car. We got into our hotel and was amazed at how nice it was. Everything looked new and nothing looked old. It was clean and the people at the front desk were very helpful. If I'm ever in the area again I'll definitely be booking more nights here. read more

we stayed two night while visiting a relative in the area and found the Ayres Lodge to be just what we were looking for. They were dog friendly and yelp had a 15% off the stay coupon. The room was nice size with a king bed, standard comforts for this type of place. It was right off the freeway and located near a small strip mall with some stores that had most things you needed. We had been to the lodge a couple years ago and liked it... but now that it's updated, we love it! So modern and clean, and the breakfast and staff were amazing! The cost is reasonable and the shuttle to the Casino is quick and easy. The only thing I suggest is that you update your website to show all the hard work you've done! I would like to add an update to my previous review on 8/23. I was contacted by the General Manager about the complaints that I posted. The biggest complaint was losing $400.00 for checking out early. Well after many phone calls between myself and Hotelsone I have received the full refund. This is thanks to Mike approving the refund.
