SAME-DAY SERVICE!! My AC was running warm and you know it's starting to get hot in AZ...cannot go without AC in Central AZ for sheezy!! Spoke with Steve, the owner, who took my call on a SUNDAY & let me know location, hours and that John, his son would be at the front desk and take care of me. Full disclosure, the shop is over in Ahwatukee and I live near downtown Gilbert so I decided to try one closer to home 1st...but I was dissatisfied with the customer service, they took longer than they said & wanted to charge $206 for a recharge which I thought was on the high side- so ended up going to see John .. my 1st choice ~ just a bit of a drive. Thankfully it wasn't too hot in the day yet. John had already advised that it would take about an hour for them to look and it and fix it so when I got there that's what I expected. John was very courteous and informative & a customer that was waiting ensured me that he's been going there for years to get all his car-care needs met, even after moving all the way out to San Tan Valley and 5hat they're always very fair & trustworthy..which put me at more ease! Needed a new A/C kit and compressor. Was fairly charged for the repair ($1,100 for my make and model.) I had to bring it back three times, however. 1. Vehicle began to overheat upon leaving the shop. I immediately brought it back to them and they had forgotten to add antifreeze. Luckily I checked the temp gauge in time and this didn't result in a tow. They added antifreeze and sent me on my way. 2. After driving for a day, I wasn't convinced the air was as cool as before. Despite their initial assurance that I was getting 50 degree air at the vents, my thermometer showed 70 degrees. Brought it back and they found one of 23 clamps had been improperly installed and system was leaking. Fixed and they recharged the system, and gave me $50.00 back for my time after I asked them for a $300 discount. 3. Immediately checked the vent temp with my equipment in their parking lot, and vent temp was still high: 67 degrees. This despite AGAIN hearing assurances that my vent temp was 50 degrees. They also broke one of my vents. Now I'm here waiting a third time to see if it will indeed get to 50 degrees, and hoping they can fix the vent. read more

I was happy to find AZ Auto Air on Yelp since it's hard to find people that specialize in AC repairs! (I tend to request odd jobs due to my old suburban and my desire to wrench on my own truck as much as possible). I called on Saturday for a quote on a low side valve replacement and an evac/recharge. I was surprised at the low quote and even more surprised that they could fit me in that day, so I headed down. They did a great job of replacing the valve, and even replaced the other at no additional cost since they didn't like the way it looked (potential leak spot). They had me in and out in an hour or so with a functioning AC. The waiting room even has otter pops and a keurig machine. I also like that the waiting room faces the shop with windows so you can see them working on your ride. Steve (the owner) and his daughter do a wonderful job of making you feel informed, welcome, and comfortable. Combine that with the great price and fast, quality service, and AZ Auto Air gets a happy customer who will certainly be back when more work is needed! read more

My car's A/C stopped working, I initially went to another shop where I spent $125dls for them to tell me the car didn't have any frion, they couldn't find a leak after 5hours of multiple 'tests'. All they did was add frion and dye so they could find the leak later. Couple of days later the car stopped cooling again, I went back to the first shop and they told me I would need to pay $125 to inspect the car again and determine the cost of the repair!... Obviously I decided to find another shop. I came across AZ Auto repair, Steve the manager was friendly and explained their rates clearly. It took Steve about 5min to determine the problem (leaking condenser, quite easy to see) he only charged me $40 for the inspection and gave me a couple of quotes since this is a mayor repair. He even added frion for free for me to drive cool for a couple of days since the car would lose it until is permanently fixed. Per Steve's suggestion I went back to the first shop and got my money back. Based on my experience I can say this is a honest and knowledge business, definitely recommend it for A/C or general car repairs. read more

I was referred to this place by my transmission guy, he suggested I get my windows tinted to help with the AZ heat. Was told to ask for Al, Al got me in the next day after I called and had it ready for me to take home after I got off work. I got az legal 35% on the front doors. 05% limo on the back half. I am more than pleased with the outcome, Al did not disappoint it's been about a week now and it has rained, I have rolled my windows up and down multiple times, and have gotten my car washed - there are no bubbles or mistakes. No appointment necessary and in under an hour they had diagnosed and fixed my AC ( air in the system and under charged). Friendly and no upselling or any BS. We're from Oregon on our way to New Orleans and found ourselves in 108 degrees in Phoenix with our a/c blowing hot air. We called AZ auto at 8am on a Friday and they told us to bring in our Suv and they could fix it today. It was worth the drive to Chandler. First of all they were super friendly and courteous! They found parking in the back for our suv with a large uhaul attached almost immediately. They did a free diagnostic check on a/c and in twenty minutes told us what we needed. We left our phone # and went to lunch and they called us within another 20 min to deliver some bad news.. It was worse than they initially thought because our compressor went out and clutch wasn't engaging. We had them do the work and they knew we were trying to get out of town so they had our car blowing cold air within 45 min. Turns out they had two associates work on it so we could get back on the road faster. They also picked up parts we needed for us instead of waiting for them to be delivered. Now the a/c blows cold air and we can survive through the desert! Overall great service, comfortable waiting areas with ice cold water and magazines to read. Would recommend to anyone - reasonable prices and they they keep us informed throughout the whole process- very kind to out of towners!!. read more

Wish I could this Locale 6 Stars....once again the great staff at AZ auto air saved the day for me. I went in earlier today had a new AC Hose assembly removed and replaced along with my Serpentine Belt. I was prepared to stay all day if needed....however I was there for just under 2 hours.....and was out of less than 300 bucks. Considering what I needed repaired and the labor included....the price was AWESOME. Not to mention Brianna....who is just simply one of the nicest young ladies I have EVER met.....discounted me 107 bucks since it was just under 2 months ago that I had the AC Evacuated and recharged. I recently sent my son in law to Steve at Az. Auto Air as his A/C was blowing hot. The vehicle is a high mileage 2004 Corolla that needed a new compressor. Steve did not pressure him and gave him a very fair price but the vehicle is on its last breaths so not worth the investment. Steve suggested a reputable salvage yard that had a good used compressor for 85.00 and suggested he install it himself. He told him it was not hard, gave suggestions and told him to feel free and call him with any questions. We we had the Freon recovered professionally, installed the new compressor and took it to Steve to vacuum and recharge. A/C is working great now. I truly cannot say enough about the honesty and integrity Steve provides in his Family owned business. This is just another example of what a blessing we have to know him. He has provided free labor to my disabled friend who has limited funds and always treat you like you were his blood. The A/C in my 2006 GTO stopped blowing cold air so I started the search for a repair shop. I spent $80 at the place I get my oil changed for them to say it isn't the Freon. I searched Yelp and found AZ Auto Air who is also a BBB member (which is important to me). I called about 8 other repair shops in the area to ask about estimates- 2 wanted me to pay $50 for an estimate; AZ Auto Air and a few others offered FREE estimates. I spoke to Steve (I think the owner) on the phone- he was very friendly and said to just run it by anytime for the estimate. Over a couple days, I made the rounds to the different shops to get estimates on the repairs. They all quoted $1500 or more saying I needed to replace basically the entire system. As I left, a couple of the shops said "if I'm not the lowest, call me back and I'll re-quote." Yeah, right. My final stop was AZ Auto Air just east of I-10 on Chandler Blvd. Steve met me right inside the door and asked how he could help me. I explained the problem and he directed me to the waiting room (w/ TV, coffee, etc.) and took the GTO right to the back for testing. After about 15 minutes, he took me to the back to the car and explained what was going on. His quote was under $1000 out the door. I was concerned about the difference between the quotes and told him what the other shops had told me. Steve explained that the other shops were replacing the condenser because they were replacing the compressor. He felt that since the compressor wasn't locked up (it spun freely) that no pieces of the fan had blown apart and gotten stuck in the condenser. This made sense to me. Steve reassured me that if they got the compressor out and found evidence of needing the replace the condenser, they could do it without any issue and told me how much it would be. The quote was still much cheaper than the others. He was confident the condenser was fine though. I expected we would have to rent a car for a week while the GTO was being fixed. Not so, Steve said one day. We dropped the car off in the morning and at about 1pm, they called to say it was done. SAME DAY SERVICE!?! Wow. It takes more time to get my oil changed. The mechanic said the condenser was fine. I was out the door w/ cold air for under $1000. They also changed my serpentine belt while they had the old one off. I cannot say enough about the professionalism and customer service I experienced at AZ Auto Air. read more

After going to Dessert Car Care for a noise in our AC and they told us we needed basically a whole new AC unit and quoted us about $3000 for all and charged us $150 and only did a visual check. We decided to go to Tempe AC and after their inspection they said our AC unit was in good condition and found out the noise was coming from the cabin filter plugged up , we knew we needed a new actuator and had that put in and now our truck is fix for around $400 which was a fair price . These guys are honest and friendly and will get my business from now on. read more

My car lost all it's coolant and I was unsure if I could drive it to get the car repaired. I called AZ Auto Repair and the owner, Steve, said he would come to get the car so I would not have to drive it. I was pleasantly surprised! He picked up my car and called within half an hour to tell me what repairs my car needed. Later that day Steve called to tell me my car was ready. His wife, Denise, came to pick me up to return me to get my car. We engaged in wonderful conversation during our ride. What a lovely person! My car was repaired at a very reasonable cost, and I was a happy customer customer. I will be going back, I'm sure, especially since my car is 14 years old. I have taken my car there in the past, and I always received terrific service and quality work. I feel safe when I bring my car here, and that's important to me. read more

I was very pleased with my experience with AZ Auto Air today. It was so convenient to be able to drop in without an appointment for their A/C inspection. I was taken back to their waiting area and shown where I could get water, coffee, and comfortable during my wait. That's good customer service right there, versus just telling me where to go. They took my car in right away and 30min later, Steve (the owner) explained to me what they found and the options. He explained thoroughly without rushing through it. I had them recharge the A/C as I hoped to do and Steve recommended. He didn't try to push me towards a more expensive option. Painless experience except for the reasonable cost I paid for the Freon re-charge. I'll check my wife's car A/C... it's been years since it's been serviced. My car's AC was blowing hot, so I took it to AZ Auto Air for a "free" evaluation. AZ Auto Air pulled my car around back and apparently looked at it for a few minutes. Then the service guy came out and told me I needed a new compressor, new hoses, new refrigerant, etc. Total estimate just under $1000. I was skeptical, so I took it to another service station. The guy looked at it, said it looked to him like my compressor had already been replaced (it had), and that he couldn't see any immediate leak. He drained the system, filled it with refrigerant, added dye, and told me to drive it for a few days, after which he would see if he could find where there might be a leak. Total cost about $125. I brought it back a few days later -- running cold -- no problems with the AC. He inspected it, and couldn't find a leak -- said that it might just be a very small one, and might require adding new refrigerant once a year or something. Couldn't see any damage to the hoses either. Anyway, it's been a couple weeks -- AC is still running cold, the compressor is fine. So much for the AZ Auto Air quote. Buyer beware. read more

Do not go here if you are planning to have your car back anytime soon. I took my car here a few months ago because my check-engine light came on and it was making a funny noise. A good friend recommended AZ Auto Air to me so I took it there. The front office lady (who I told was very sweet) must have been having a bad day because she had some attitude problem. They had my car for about 6 hours and no one called to give me any kind of update. When I called, the guy who answered was the owner and he said that the mechanic left early........ I was a little pissed that he hadn't told me that earlier. I told him that I had taken the day off to get this fixed and that I could have taken it somewhere else. He told me they would keep it over night and that it would be fixed tomorrow. I arranged a ride to work the next day and the owner called me and told me it would be like $200 to fix. A very reasonable price. I realized they closed before I would be able to get there so I told the owner that my boyfriend would come by with my credit card and pay for it and pick up the keys. He told me they would leave the car outside. Later after work, my boyfriend brought me to the parking lot to get my car. It was UNLOCKED and my battery was basically dead. My lights were dim and it took a while to start-which wasn't a problem to begin with at all. I had to replace my battery and when I called the owner, he blamed my boyfriend for the car being open and that the battery was "Just fine while we were working on it." Hmmmmmmmm I'm pretty sure they're full of it. I don't understand why it took them over a day to figure out a simple complication with my car and why they couldn't call me with an updated after over 6 hours of having it! Good luck if you choose to go here. They prices are reasonable but there are other prices to pay like time and frustration. read more

I have a disabled divorced female friend who became very ill because of our Az. heat. I came to find out it was because her air conditioning went out in her car and she could not afford to fix it. I have used Az Auto Air for all of my vehicles needs and trust Steve, the owner without question. I brought the vehicle in, explained the situation and that I would pay. During my first visit they fixed the A/C in my Infiniti G35 and this was a positive. But then I got carried away and dropped off my wife's Nissan Armada for an A/C service and changing the mounts. I also asked if they could check the 4WD system as I couldn't hear any noise when 4WD was engaged after I had the transfer case oil changed. When I picked-up my car, they told me to take the car to the dealership for repairing the 4WD system. They said they heard strange and terrible sounds coming from the transfer case when they were testing it at the nearby Home Depot parking lot and since and they don't have experience with 4WD systems I should go to the dealership. I think if they can't repair or have little experience with 4WD systems they should not have agreed to check it and should not have been driving the car around the parking lot testing it out. When I got home and opened the glove compartment, the entire compartment fell out. The compartment on the Armada has a plastic tab that needs to be moved sideways so that the hinge can separate. Whoever worked on the car obviously didn't know this as the hinge was completely broken off with stress fractures around it. They had removed the glove compartment to change the cabin filter which was not something I asked to be changed because I buy these filters myself and change them regularly. read more
